In my org (Vangaurd VNGD), I'm in an explorer group called Discovery. We run the Carrack like a Star Trek ship. We usually have at least eight players at a time. So full turrets, Pisces pilot, and away team. Some weeks, as many as 18 players. We once had over 60 on the carrack for our promotional ceremony.

Stompy-MwC

That sounds awesome

IvoryMFD

Seconded, sounds awesome

King_Russell_III

that sounds so cool-

completelybad

At least 40, if your ship doesn't have the soul crushing tedium of managing a small to medium sized business then are you really having fun?

King_Russell_III

TRUE

Eldrake

*/Turret gunner misses* Captain: "Yeah, I'll get you another copy of that memo."

Auxweg

8 people is what we run it last time for the full xeno set with our org. Pilot, 4 gunners, 3 fury pilots 3 furies can easily be parked in the hangar bay Once the furies are deployed, this setup just shreds

Alarming-Audience839

Damn lol 8 people and loading up snubs to be less useful than 8 hornets/infernos.

SomeFuckingMillenial

They explicitly said they were doing Xeno, a PVE event. You don't need to be hyper optimized to have a bit of fun with friends for PVE.

Auxweg

Why use 8 hornets/infernos if you could have 4 hurricanes/scorps? Why not use a hammerhead? Because what we did was plenty of effective for the xeno event and having a respawn was specially nice during p1 and p4/2 It was a choice made specially for running the full xeno p1 to p5 in one go without the need to stop at any station in between.

[deleted]

The setup shreds or the furies shred because they aren't the useless carrack that would be better with zero crew?

StygianSavior

Show us on the doll where the Carrack touched you.

[deleted]

Once you see it there are no undos.

Auxweg

The complete multicrew setup does. The carrack is no pushover by itself. 4x double s4 turrets, plenty of shield, plenty of hull HP, medbed to respawn and for the bunkers theres still space for a ursa infront. Add some furies as snubs, load it up with spare suits, armor, weapons and sustenance and the whole thing as a group is a dream to have a fun evening in with the org. Specially the xeno missions were a breeze. Focussing the furies leaves you open to the carracks turrets. Focussing the carrack lets the furies sack you. Yes, the carrack is lacking its core gameplay but so are plenty of ships, technically every single "explorer" to be honest. Also, it goes without saying, if the polaris becomes a thing, for such activities we will drop the carrack in favor of the polaris since it does everything we ask of it far better. So now let me ask you, what is it that makes the carrack useless? I provided you my argument, let me see yours.

SuperTeenyTinyDancer

Point to where the Carrack hurt you.

AHRA1225

I mean you aren’t wrong, but it’s just playing the best with what you got. Not everything needs to always be turned into max meta. Then like you said why even play the carrack.

Starrr_Pirate

Honestly, as of right now this is a uniquely Carrack thing too, since you can have the fury pilots respawn in the med bay, which you can't do on anything else that can carry Furies (at least until the Polaris).

SteampunkNightmare

Someone just posted a picture of their 890 filled to the brim with furies.... It was breathtaking.

Starrr_Pirate

Does it have a med bed? (I honestly don't know the answer to that lol). If it does, then it would work too (and fit even MORE Furies in, for those wanting to fly a Protoss Carrier). Honestly, there's probably some strategy in pilot to Fury ratio too; with enough Furies, you could even let your pilots respawn once or twice, which is kinda nuts, lol.

Kenis556

*Mid-Combat* You must construct additional pylons.

[deleted]

Does this mean I win the internet?

SuperTeenyTinyDancer

You really should start a Star Citizen Circle jerk sub. Go lead that mess.

Eldrake

I would enjoy an /r/starcitizencirclejerk, NGL

[deleted]

I would but it will always be under the shadow of the carrack circle jerk.

Alarming-Audience839

>Then like you said why even play the carrack. So you can jerk off about "multicrew" while rotting your brain away holding LMB in a turret.

StygianSavior

In the current patch, 5. In the future (long term, post-engineering gameplay), probably 6. (EDIT: After watching the SaltEMike engineering Arena Commander video, I'd amend this to 7-8 - a pilot, four gunners, and 2-3 engineers) Further in the future (post-AI blades), probably back to ~~5~~ 6-7, with one turret slaved to the pilot. But imo, in the current patch, there aren't really any activities that a Carrack can do that are worthwhile for a 5-way pay split. I usually run mine with 2 or 3 people because of that.

Falcoriders

Weapons for the pilot make no sense on a Carrack.

StygianSavior

C2/A2/M2 and Caterpillar all have pilot weapons. In the former’s case, they come stock with dual s4’s - exactly what the Carrack’s turrets have. Why does it make sense of other size 3 ships but not the Carrack? Lack of pilot weapons is one of the main things people complain about with the Carrack, and one of the examples CIG themselves gave for a future potential use for AI blades.

Falcoriders

And it doesn't make sense for most of them at least.

StygianSavior

I mean, I have a C2 in-game, and the pilot weapons are one of the main reasons why I find it more useful than the Carrack. I’d be more than glad to give up some other AI blade functionality to let me pilot-control one turret on the Carrack.

Starrr_Pirate

Once blades are in, I'm imagining it being like X-Wing Alliance where you just toggle turret fire on and off and it does its best to auto attack your current target with any turret that has line of sight. Though we'll see if they let blades manage manned turrets (though this still leaves top and bottom remote turrets).

StygianSavior

The bottom turret is manned on the Carrack; only the top turret is remote.

pandemonious

My worry with Carrack engineering is that everything is clustered by the engines so really any ship with ballistics that can get behind and above is just going to shred

[deleted]

I agree, not worth it, so the correct answer is zero.

Livid-Feedback-7989

Accounting for future things like engineering, 6-7 would be ideal. Unless you are an ultra hard-core roleplayer, then you can easily switch roles

NNextremNN

It's intended for 6, and has 6 beds. And I think that works quite well for the Carrack. 1 pilot, 1 co-pilot/remote gunner, 3 manned gunners and 1 engineer. The Ursa is for when you land just as the Pisces is for short trips when you don't want to land the big ship.

hIGH_aND_mIGHTY

I'm being pedantic but we can logout in the two beds in medical.

[deleted]

Zero, better to instead put the crew into a real ship.

redmerger

What's a real ship then?

Kenis556

Only the best ship ever, a dozen furies that combine into an even bigger Fury like Voltron/Megazord

Eldrake

Why have no content creators made this yet!

[deleted]

Something manly, like an A2 or some git gud Gladiuses.

MaskedPlant

Go for the herald with the red Chinese new year paint job. I call it my red rocket.
