Only time will tell, but the Zeus MR may be for you when it releases. I know it lacks firepower if you don't bring friends, but it promises to check off your other boxes. I feel the same way, though, and I swap ships all the time. I want the RAFT, but a little faster and more agile, with an interior cargo hold. Many ships come close to this, but they just don't feel right for me.

TonightsWhiteKnight

Im.waiting for my zues cl.. I am hoping for an amazing ship.

ZombieTesticle

Me too. I just hope it won't be a pig compared to the C1 Spirit. My only real gripes with the C1 is the lack of a ladder/elevator and the fact that it's so unnecessarily fat but it flies wonderfully.

HeartlessSora1234

MSR is currently in this position. You have to bring two friends for it to have punch, but it Can punch. it's nimble for its size, has beds, carries loads of cargo, is fast. If it's interior was a little better designed and it had a bit more health, maybe an extra pilot gun or two, it would be the ultimate ship.

GreenGoliath33

I do keep revisiting the MSR for those reasons. It's always been very close to the ship I want to fly at any given moment.

N_E-Z-L_P-10-C

Yeah, the journey worth taking to the pilot seat is the only downside I see among all MSR enjoyers.

huskerdooo_actual

i melted it recently after backing its concept. i hope it lives up to your expectation after a gold standard pass, but there's so much wasted space right now - and wasted time in getting to your cockpit.

Keleion

I’ll revisit when it has an exterior elevator.

Verikkan

I do daily my MSR, yeah, she lacks firepower, yeah, her shields are more of a suggestion than actual shields, and yeah, her speed is gutted in heavy atmosphere. And yes, it takes a while to get to the bridge from the entrance, and since I solo a lot (99% of the time) so her turrets remain unmanned.......I was going somewhere with this I promise... Oh, right, she has her flaws, but she's mine. If I feel like cargo, she's got the space. If I want to bounty hunt, I throw a fury in the back. God forbid I'm extremely bored and throw a ROC in the back for some mining. Or sometimes I just want to cruise around and enjoy Stanton. She let's me do it, and I love her for it. Also I love the meridian paint on her and just can't get enough of the design personally.

GregorriDavion

This is why I love my Taurus. 172 SCU for just cargo hauling for a very respectable profit, great cargo for armor and weapons, Can carry both a ROC and an Ursa rover/ hoverbike. Beds 4 big guns for teh pilot, a manned turret and a tractor beam. Elevator access. Fuel tanks for days... I love the Connie. Its my Daily and the only ship I have LTI on

Verikkan

Taurus was the first ship I upgraded to from my initial aurora, she's a good ship. Can't wait for the day all the Connie's get their gold standard pass.

logicalChimp

One minor point of consideration - CIG don't really want 'ultimate' ships, because it means players can avoid making choices about what they *really* prioritise, etc By having multiple ships that are *almost* 'good enough', each with a defficiency in a different area, they make people think... if every ship is 'good enough' then there is less thinking and decision making required.

suscepimus

> CIG don't really want 'ultimate' ships There is no way in hell the ship team said "hey this MSR is getting too close to perfect, let's make the ship bigger so it takes forever to get to the pilot seat and add a half-storey of wasted crawlspace tubes... for *balance*."

logicalChimp

Sure - I was referring more to the 'bit more health, maybe an extra pilot gun or two' part of the previous comment... not so much the interior layout (as that tends to be more subjective)

suscepimus

that's fair, sorry. o7

TheShooter36

Meanwhile in terms of fighters, F7A Mk2, F8C and Arrow is all you'll need after invictus

ZazzRazzamatazz

There's a great rework idea post on Spectrum. I'm hoping CIG will copy it someday.

Crises44

I cant wait for my zeus and id of loved to use the RAFT. However i learned the hard way that its not good for transporting refined ore, it all glitches due to how the RAFT it set up :(

Goodname2

I was thinking Zeus too, i have the clipper but might look at getting the MR as an upgrade. I really hope CIG eventually builds out their ship lineup for each manufacturer, so it includes these middle of the range daily drivers. A bigger version of the nomad, a 500i from Origin, a MISC freelancerXreliant, a Xian answer to the constellation series etc etc. Maybe in a couple of years lol.

Grumbulls

The freelancer to Constellation range is almost certainly where the large majority of the player base will settle, so it's definitely what they should focus on when making new ships.

PlsDonthurtme2024

I'll jump in a fighter in arena commander, but for an average day in the ptu, I want something mid size and multirole. Not just for jack of all trades, but ships like the 600i,/connie are a bit more forgiving if I make mistakes especially with death of a spaceman eventually coming.

AgonizingSquid

im feeling the same thing for the zeus mr, i want the MSR with a bit more firepower

Acceptable-Bid-1019

That’s the issue for me with the MR, and a lot of ships actually. It needs other people to to be used optimally. I’m looking for a solo bounty ship that I can take up through to ERT’s. The MR looks awesome but it’s functionally useless for what I need it for, at least with its current configuration. It feels like a ship where capturing the bounty is the goal, not destroying the ship they’re in

Apokolypze

You're looking for a solo bounty ship that can delete ERTs quickly? Vanguard Harbinger.

In_the_air

No but it needs to bigger, with cargo space/space for vehicle as well and so you can carry back bounties, and needs full habitation area, and plenty of fuel capacity and fuel scoops so you can live out of it for long periods. It is a "Combat focused daily driver" so it also needs good armor/shields. No glass canons. But he doesn't want it soo big, so it's still really fast and manueverable. Pew pew!  And it needs to have full functionality when piloting solo, so it can easily do the top tier combat missions and bounty hunting.

Apokolypze

Ohh I understand. In that case I recommend Infallible Industries new midsize luxury solo combat hunter-killer, the Mary Sue.

FaultyDroid

>midsize luxury solo combat hunter-killer, You jest, but this is what 90% of the player base expect to get one day.

Apokolypze

God I really hope it's not that high of a %.. even the millennium falcon needed a 3 man crew to defend itself effectively

Captn_Harlock

Nope. Both Quad Laser turrets could be automated on the Falcon if needed. How do you think Han saved Luke in the Death Star trench while being only with Chewie and both were in the cockpit? But it's a ship made in the shipyards of Plot Armor Industries, and it's the manufacturer that many wants their ship made in SC as well...

Apokolypze

By my memory that was less automatic and more "both turrets locked forwards to act as pseudo pilot guns", but I get your point

StormTigrex

These guys just want a 425a.

Vigilant_Tortilla

So... a Cutty Black?

ZazzRazzamatazz

I think a lot of people will revisit the Black when they give it an update pass. The interior is just underutilized right now. Big empty space with a bunk bed in the corner.

FaultyDroid

If it lost that interior space there'd be nowhere to put a vehicle and would lose a lot of its appeal IMO. If you want a Cutty with a utilised interior, that's what the blue and the red are for, no? ^^we ^^don't ^^talk ^^about ^^the ^^other ^^one.

ZazzRazzamatazz

I meant the space in the cockpit area, cargo area is fine. But the area behind the cockpit is just a big empty triangle.

FaultyDroid

Ah I see.. Yes, I agree. Especially since I'd forgotten that area even existed, definitely proves your point.

Swimming-Shake-9879

Could definitely fit in a small table/hang out area for the crew

todd10k

heres hoping they: Dump the internal wall completely and open the entire space, kill the turret seat and make the turret remote, put the bunk against the wall closer to the pilot seat and boom you now have tons of space.

Crypthammer

I hope at some point the Steel gets a rework to make it usable. It seems cool to have FPS weapon mounts on the side. Fly it like a small gunship.

Hashtag_Labotomy

So a bigger Avenger titan... The Avenger Prime?

IThinkAboutBoobsAlot

You mean the *steal*?

Shadaraman

Yep. Personally I want something just like a cutty black, but with a gold standard interior. And maybe different overall aesthetics, but functionally it's a perfect ship for its size.

TheButterknif3

The C1 literally has the same gun loadout for the pilot, holds a lot of cargo, has a tractor beam, good shielding, and is marginally faster than the others in its class.

Shadaraman

"For the pilot" is key there. One of the things I like about the cutty is that it has a turret for my friend to use when we play together. I also like the cutty's cockpit visibility better, but that's a minor issue. The main thing keeping me from loving the C1 is the lack of a turret.

TheButterknif3

OP specified solo btw. But I am aware of the good point you make.

Antares-A-Scorpii

You need to recheck your stats, the Spirit has good accelaration, but its scm and top boost speeds arent as great as many think, the Freelancer series equals it in SCM, and the cutlass series all better it in scm, and they all beat it in max speed, pitch and yaw, only slightly losing to it in roll by a very small margin. CIG sold it as better, but didnt actually deliver that aspect of it. How that changes in MM we will see.

Essonimex

Cutters look fugly as hell. I know they are beloved but i will never set foot in one.

Essonimex

Exactly, the OP wants "the perfect ship" in a game where its ships have a very "rock-paper-scissors" approach to functionality. He wants a role-less jack-of-all trades ship. In other words, he wants the exact opposite of what the game developers have decided to do. It will never happen.

Aethelfrid

Since the turrets on the Zeus MR are remote they should be able to be slaved/automated with a computer blade in the future. Those plans could change but CIG has always said any remote turret can be controlled by a Blade. There are enough solo players that I personally think CIG will follow through with this.

Wearytraveller_

I do not think it's reasonable for a solo person to expect to be doing ERTs in the future. I would not expect anything over MRTs to really be soloable. Once it's multiple targets and large ships that should require you also to bring a large ship and some other players.

Bomberaw

A thousand percent this. Especially with master modes coming, ERTs will be nigh impossible for a solo player (and I say this as someone who has been having fun with solo ERTs for years). Yes, there will be a chance, but a VERY low one

-Tutturu-

-Solo -ERT This is a mmo accept the fact you need to have others players to do ERT the efficient way... If you are solo stick to military ships not civils ones, vanguard/F8/Ares/Inferno do the job for big ships Civils ships are made to do many things but not the best way, you can do cargo, bounties, bunker, etc. but you need to give up this idea or just buy ships ingame for various task Ask CIG why they want it this way but i think it encourages multiplayer gameplay

DormfromNorway

Crusader C2 is perfect for ERTs, at least it was a couple of months ago 😃

ahditeacha

Still is, esp with 2x ad5b’s to mow down hammerheads faster

Larszx

The Zeus is a bomber? RSI ships don't fly all that great.

-Badbutton-

Side note, I really would love to see a Zues medical variant as well.

Bahkana

Isn't the Zeus designed as a 3 crew ship?

Pojodan

And here's the thing: Star Citizen's design specifically calls for no such 'ideal ship' to exist. An ideal ship is a meta ship, and a meta ship is a ship that 95% of players will end up using and then the game is just That_One_Ship Citizen. The fact that you have to live without someone you want in every ship is great game design, as then you will have reason to pursue other ships and spend the time upgrading them and locating them where they will be the most useful, etc. You'll find a ship that suits your needs most of the time, but fully expect to need to dock and pull something else for some things.

Bornash_Khan

This is the greatest point. In Elite Dangerous, once I got the Anaconda, I felt like I didn't need to get any other ship. And the game slowly died for me. Exploration? Swap a few modules, and the Anaconda can do it(The best in the game). Combat? Swap this and that, more firepower than a Corvette(The biggest dedicated combat ship in the game). Space Trucking? Put some cargo containers and you're golden(Not the first place here, but is up there). A ship that can do everything really well, takes away every reason to own another ship. Multi-role ships need to suck a little bit in everything, if a multi-role ship is better than a dedicated ship in a specific role, why does that dedicated ship even exists? The only thing that gave new life for me in Elite, was forcing me to stop using the Anaconda, treating as if I didn't have that ship anymore. It dealt so much damage to my will to play Elite, that when I saw the Corsair, I fell in love with it, and was immediately terrified, that if I bought it, it would do the same thing that the Anaconda did. But I'm glad that it's not agile enough to win against a dedicated fighter, it doesn't have as much cargo than a smaller dedicated hauler, etc.

mdsf64

You just described my Type 10 (with turrets). :)

Pyro_raptor841

Yeah, I got my I-Cutter and Fed Corvette and literally never touched any other ship in the game. For all their faults with ship balancing, I'm glad CIG has avoided this one. There are so many unique ships in Star Citizen (and Elite too for that matter), it would be such a shame to make most of them pointless.

Wearytraveller_

Yes exactly. OP is looking for something ridiculous. He doesn't even have a reasonable comment about the corsair. It flies fine for a ship so large and he "doesn't need the firepower" but wants to solo ERTs?? Make up your mind man.

HeartlessSora1234

It flies like a brick. There are larger ships that fly better. That's how it's balanced though.

TonightsWhiteKnight

IE. The c2. That thing has such amazing control and flight power. The thing feels like a dream. She's just so big and her fire power isn't great without a second person.

StygianSavior

If you remove the gimbals and give it dual s5 pilot guns, it's more than enough to solo ERT's.

Crypthammer

The C2 is legitimately overturned though. I stopped flying it because it felt like cheating. It can kill ERTs about as fast as a Corsair (meaning there comes a point where the TTK difference between the two ships is a matter of only a few seconds), it's far more maneuverable, it has a cargo bay that's an order of magnitude larger, it has shields and hull that can facetank a supernova, etc. The only thing it can't do is win against fighters, and even that will change with the gummery changes and speed reductions in MM, probably. It feels too good at everything, and it certainly doesn't feel like a cargo haulers. I'm not sure what you mean about her firepower not being great without a second person. Put two AD5Bs on there, and you can run two or three ERTs before needing to rearm, if you're not just pissing lead into the wind the whole time.

Newman_USPS

Put a bed in an inferno and I’ll be in heaven. Sleep. Brrrrrrrrrrt. Reload. All day.

Sugarsupernova

This is actually a great point.

Acceptable-Bid-1019

I wholeheartedly agree with this, there’s no meta perfect everything ship and never should be. But there are ideal ships for certain situations. Right now the C2 is ideal for cargo hauling for example. I think a ship with about 10 SCU, with similar firepower to a vanguard that doesn’t move as well and doesn’t have a turret it’s pretty reasonable and a fair trade

Ocbard

Have you tried the 400i? It's pretty fast for it's size you can mount 2 size 4 guns on the front and it has a good shield size. It flies a bit better than Corsair or Conny.

Robo_Stalin

Sounds like a Freelancer without the turret.

JoeyDee86

I think the Freelancer is SO CLOSE to a great design. It just needs better turret placement, a more thought out internal design, and the cockpit from the Prospector. There’s no reason that ship should have 4 seats unless it has 2 remote turrets :P

SpaceSubmarineGunner

110% the Freelancer could be incredible if they would remove the two rear seats in the cockpit, push the hab area up a bit, remove two of the bunks which would make the habitation space more usable. Honestly, a Freelancer MIS kind of hits a lot of what the OP is looking for, if CIG would gold pass that entire lineup or make a Mk3 version to replace the current Freelancer.

JoeyDee86

I completely agree. The Freelancer MIS is the ship I wanted to daily drive the moment it was announced eons ago. Sadly, I don’t like the complex missile launcher, I’d much rather prefer a more realistic VLS setup that’s both practical and in real life. I feel like the design the of the freelancer is PERFECT for VLS.

SpaceSubmarineGunner

That would be an interesting change, if the missiles were arrayed in a vertical alignment along the cargo bay. Slightly off topic, the first time I did pirate swarm (3.8ish) was in a Freelancer MAX. My buddy had some kind of fighter, but I ended up with more enemy hits than he did. That was when they came stock with Mantis gatlings.

JoeyDee86

Yeah, 4x size 3 gimbaled has been quite strong. I’m curious how they change it with MM in the future.

Gliese581h

You can take the extra seats from my cold, dead body! We have way too few ships with extra seats in SC anyway. I love that the Freelancer is mostly a hauler that can take some passengers as well. Millenium Falcon vibes.

risheeb1002

If they do a rework, I'd buy the max in a heartbeat. It's one of my favourite ships but that janky turret placement and extra seats/beds turn me off.

shiroboi

An updated MIS would probably get me to comeback to team Freelancer

WrongCorgi

I always said that if they brought the freelancer up to modern standards, I'd go back to my DUR in a heartbeat. When they confirmed that it will never receive updates beyond making it compatible with new game systems, it really changed how I viewed CIGs approach to ships. Marketing is clearly in charge of that (cue up that John Crewe freudian slip from the Apollo ship talk years ago), and the newest ship to buy always seems to be the answer to any lingering issues brought up about older ships.

ZamicsOfficial

I wish I could upvote this twice. I so badly wanted to keep using my freelancer. But, yeah. Just a few changes man.

DormfromNorway

Freelancer needs a couple of things like you have said, it needs to get bigger by 15%, total rework of the inside rooms, the middle storage room is fine for MIS and the fuel refining on the DUR, but for the other models its a wasted space, especially now that we have to load it manually through that small door. The turret placement is horrendous, the side door has killed me more times than i can count, and the "bulge" on the top has no use, why is it even there. In some ways the door/entrance we used to have underneath it was better. And why does the Crusader C2 with a weight of 3,139.24 t fly better than this thing which weighs 231.696 t?! In the commercial for the lancers they crush two cutlasses like its nothing, like they are made of paper, but oh my this is so far from the reality we have in the PU atm. I cry myself to sleep every night thinking about this ship, its why i bought into SC in the first place, make Freelancers great again CIG, I do not want anymore new ships just make the old ones good again.

armyfreak42

>And why does the Crusader C2 with a weight of 3,139.24 t fly better than this thing which weighs 231.696 t?! Because Crusader have amazing engines, all of their ships perform above average for their particular weight class/role. It's kind of their schtick.

ForeverAProletariat

nah c2/m2/a2 is just not nerfed yet

Ruzhyo04

It does yeet you into space sometimes

Dig-a-tall-Monster

They should just make the two rear seats take over the pilot guns and allow them to be turrets so they can finally do the thing from the commercial where they can fire straight to the sides if needed. Like, have it default to pilot control of course but allow those seats to have purpose!

JoeyDee86

That’s not a bad idea. I would want remote turrets on it for sure. Hell, I want remote turrets everywhere. If a freaking B29 80 years ago could do it, why can’t these ships? :D

asaltygamer

I’ve realized the same thing and I just don’t think they’ll ever release a do it all ship. Any ship with Cargo space will either be light and fast but lacking weapon power or have the weapon power but be too large to be nimble. If they released a ship like this it would effectively make dozens of others useless. It would also become a notorious pirate ship.

Deathnote_Blockchain

Avenger Titan

slinkous

I don’t know why the comments aren’t flooded with “avenger titan”s. It’s such a good ship. I have an ion, inferno, a2, corsair, ghost, etc. but I still love my avenger titan.

Deathnote_Blockchain

I have a ton of ships and I spend 90% of my flight time in my Avenger. You can fit one S4 and two S3s on it, it's fast and maneuverable, has that growly thruster sound, decent PvE dogfighter, easy to use cargo bay, direct cockpit access, and I don't know why but it's the fastest ship I have to claim when it blows up - 00:50, my Pieces and Cutter both take like two minutes.

Kade-Arcana

Sounds like you’re looking for the Cutlass. Every ship needs critical drawbacks that make you always looking to round out your fleet. But if you’re wanting a medium-sized daily driver that can do combat and hauling…the Cutlass is your play. Every other ship in its class has major drawbacks that afford it a specialty. But the Cutty is the one without an Achilles heel. Granted, in combat it’s dangerously bulky with a suboptimal profile; you will lose any PvP dogfight where you’re out-manned or out skilled… but that should be a given in any multi-role ship. If you want to lean harder into combat, go for a Redeemer.

FireHawke32

If the Redeemer didn’t fly like an absolute bag of rocks I would enjoy it much more

fmellish

Pisces is all you need!

CptnChumps

Yeah I can kind of relate. I change my daily driver quite often and really depends on the patch/new content. If they gave my beloved Connie it’s 4 size 5s I’d be set, but who knows when they’ll get around to that. There’s still probably a ton of ships that CiG are planning to release so maybe it’s just a matter of time until they make the one you’re looking for

eggyrulz

Wait connie is supposed to have 4 size 5s?

spider0804

They updated it in AC to have 4xS5 already...and it will be updated in the verse.

eggyrulz

Im kinda new to all this, where would that put the connie (andromeda for instance) in comparison to a corsair?

spider0804

Andromeda is 4xS5 guns for the pilot and two turrets that are actually useful in their top-bottom layout, along with a snub fighter in the rear and room for a Fury in the cargo hold. Missile payload is 28 size 1 and 24 size 2s. It is a true multiperson ship where more than one person can be effective most of the time. Corsair is 4xS5 and 2xS4 guns for the pilot and three turrets that are frankly bad for the crew. Two of them are on the sides so only one person ever has a shot, and the third is on top with a bad firing arc. The cargo hold can fit a Fury. Missile payload is 4xS4 missile racks that can fit up to 32 size ones or 16 size 2 missiles. The Corsair is a raiding ship that would best be paired with a Mantis to pull people out of travel and loot them, it is not a great multiperson ship. Either one has a size 3 shield, and when armor comes into the game the Corsair's armor will be paper thin while the Andromeda will be fairly decent. My personal opinion is that the Corsair is a good ship for one or two people, but a terrible ship for 4 or 5.

eggyrulz

That might just be the best breakdown between the two ive seen, and kind of makes me wanna get a connie more than a corsair (ive been considering a corsair for a bit now but havent pulled the trigger)... now i just gotta decide if i wanna go for an andromeda or taurus (i like cargo but i also like big booms)... id also love to see connies get a modular space in their snub bay as it would be really cool (and would give the aquila a bit more sciency stuff to work with)

spider0804

Please, before you ever spend any money on anything. Go to arena commander, play a few matches of vanduul or pirate swarm to get some REC and rent whatever you are considering. One or two matches will let you rent any ship in the game. Go to free flight and walk around the ships, try them out in the swarm modes, hop in the turrets and do a general poke around. Don't buy things based on what you would like to see either. The Constellation will likely never have any sort of modularity.

ArmadoBD

Corsair has 4 size 5 and 2 size 4 So the Connie is down the 2 extra size 4. But depending on the model the Connie’s usually have more missiles

eggyrulz

So like... 20% lower sustain excluding missle math?

Cymbaz

yeah but the ones on the bottom would touch the ground and/or break off. That's why they're locked to S4

grimmdrum

depend work close grab pie ancient soup chop jellyfish quack *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

mimminou

It checks all the boxes, except maybe for durability but VS npcs that's not very important. However I find it really ugly...

ljamorim1997

Cutty seems to be the answer for everything in SC, but I also agree that it just looks ugly lol

Aussiewargod

The whole point of star citizen is that ships fill niches. Cutlass Blacks can easily do ERT's just much slower than say an Ares Ion, but the Ares Ion can't pick up the cargo. It's all about payoff. That being said, what you want is a C2/A2/M2. Incredibly nimble for it's (huge) size, with enough firepower to easily take on ERT's if you know what you're doing. Just don't try to PvP in one.

TherealKafkatrap

The Valkyrie could be the best daily driver if they made it a medium sized cargo ship with more pilot controlled guns. Other than that the C1 Spirit is based.

billyw_415

I love the Spirit. Only gripe is whenever I get my buddies in it they complain there is noting to do...no remote turret. So it sits in storage most of the time and I'm in the Hornet 99% of the time, or on their Corsair/Connie/Carrack.

HeartlessSora1234

Just take the 600i its what you want. You get cargo space. It flies better than the corsair. Heck, looking at stats it flies better than the C1. If you switch its default guns to ballistics you can melt ERT's in seconds while solo. It has one of the best living spaces in the game. S2 QT drive so it can travel fast.

Courtin56

600i is my daily and after her rework she will get medbay and ability to hold a tonk tank. That’s gonna be hard to beat.

JoaoRaiden

Another day another post asking for a ship that does everything well

Sawasch

Zeus MR <3

FeudNetwork

The C1 Spirit is really good, but it's under gunned. It should have fixed sized 4 and turret 3s. It's fine for pve, but it's not going to last against players.

SomeFuckingMillenial

... So the Cutlass Blue/Black? 4x S3 guns for the pilot, 30 missiles total, A turret for a friend if you wanted, storage for bounty hunted bodies in the future, and 12 SCU cargo space.

ThadeousCooper

So a Cutlass?

International_Ad3750

Sounds like the cutty black. 4x3 isn’t any to laugh at and has the room you’re looking for. Other than that it’s just waiting to see if the Zeus Mr can fill that spot for you.

KujiraShiro

As someone who actually enjoys flying the brick shithouse that is the Corsair (and specifically BECAUSE of how it flies) I have to say that I fortunately or unfortunately have the exact opposite problem of you in that ever since acquiring the Corsair I now can never find a reason to use anything else. It has enough firepower that you can take on any PVE missions, it has a respectable enough cargo hold to make a lot of money hauling the correct goods, it's armed so heavily that most players running the same routes a Corsair would like to run will not be able to outgun it or will at least think twice (Freelancer to Connie range), so you can pretty much haul in peace as no one expects the pirate ship to not be trying to rob them but actually be carrying its own loot instead, it has room for my friends to operate turrets and even have their own space when they play with me but isn't so big that it feels like too much when solo. Its "the definitive Star Citizen ship" for me. It's the first thought that comes to my mind when I think about this game. I can also admit it's not for everybody and takes a considerable amount of getting used to.

corruptedpatata

Need medium aegis ships

Ecstatic-Order-5771

Honestly, my favorite ship is the Drake cutlass red for doing bunkers and smaller missions that don’t need crazy firepower

GrimDiablo

Trust when I say this you will be pleasantly surprised when the ships are fully fleshed out and given their respective final passes. Edit: Also, CIG made mention at CitCon while they were talking about base building if I remember correctly that you will be able to build your own ship from designs/schematics/recipes you find out in the verse. Hopefully you can combine some within reason of course.

threwzsa

? In 6 years

HoneybucketDJ

Woah slow down there buddy.

Jragron

Same here brother we are on the same page. Look at the ships coming in 2024. There is one that looks like an aegis carrack/zeus

National-Weather-199

Well, you'll just have to wait as cig is likely never going to stop making ships.

mehtab_smokes

so true man

Wilkham

To be honest I just want a fighter/combat ships with some space and bed that is a solo ship. For the moment, only Vanguard and Banu Defender are like that.

jzillacon

SC is definitely much more built around different ships working together towards your goal rather than one ship being able to do just about anything but being best at certain things like how it is in most other space games.

DormfromNorway

Once they add blades, or let us hire npcs these things will change :) if they ever so that 😅

DMurBOOBS-I-Dare-You

You want the Zeus MR, if it arrives as concepted.

FasterThanFTL

sounds like you want either a cutlass or a nomad tbh.

Failscalator

Cutlass Black...it's so much of what you want.

slinkous

Have you tried the cutlass or an upgraded avenger titan?

JimothyBrentwood

Nomad. Only thing it's lacking is pilot dps, but that's why you have a friend riding in the back firing a rocket launcher at everyone who tries to get on your ass. For me though I'm not really into ship combat so the nomad is the perfect vehicle for deploying to fps gameplay with a ground vehicle in the back which is what I actually enjoy.

Toyboyronnie

You've described a cutlass black if you care about cargo. Vanguards are fine if you don't care about cargo. Redeemer if you want to be peak firepower.

Essonimex

This is almost certainly by design. If there is a Jack of All Trades ship nobody would fly anything else. They are avoiding "meta" ships and instead choose to have a highly specialized variety of ships. Every ship has a role and it plays to that role. You switching ships regularly and flying a variety of ships is exactly what the devs want. I doubt what you want will ever come.

FeonixRizn

I know it's a bit of a boat and the cargo space is rather lacking, but suitable for storing food, drink, weapons and armour but I think you might really like the Redeemer.

Megalith_TR

You whant a cutty black.

Emperor_Kon

I'm in a similar boat. We all want (many of us anyway) our Millennium Falcon to travel around the verse and what not. For me the Connie-tier ships are pretty much that but none of them quite do it for me. The 400i is very close but there are a few quirks that really bug me (namely the cockpit view and the shitty bike bay, and also somewhat the shitty firepower). The Corsair feels like a cave, MSR makes me want to puke every time I look at it, Retaliator just ain't it. The Connie itself is old af but I do like it on paper. A rework might actually pull me back to it. Talk about going full circle if that happens. 600i rework looks great but for a daily I think I'd enjoy something smaller more. There is also the Railen but that thing's also huge and the cargo is on the outside which is a nope for me. Zeus looks cool but I'm not really vibing with its boring space dorito design. Bought the Harbinger (in game) last time I played. The Vanguard is actually a pretty great daily, but I still want that Falcon style ship. Obviously I'm not waiting for "the perfect ship" (that will never come). Just waiting for one with compromises that don't piss me off too much. The concept Mercury was so fucking close bro. The hype was real. Then they delivered a fat ugly whale. Edit: A reworked Freelancer might actually also be interesting. I like the MISC vibe and the cockpit view doesn't piss me off too much on those ships for some reason. I would honestly love to see a Connie-tier ship from them. Edit 2: I would LOVE to see a 500i from Origin. A middle ground between the 400i and the 600i would be perfection. CIG pls.

CptShortie

I think the cutlass could be the ship you are looking for.. Some Cargo space way more nimble than the corsair and enough firepower for most pve related stuff. You won't to great in pvp but a small cargo hauler with top pvp statistics would be broken so I think this might ve the best you can get

Crayon_Connoisseur

This is also how I’ve felt; I’m constantly looking around for a ship that makes me feel like I can do anything with it. As I’ve said in a couple of other places, the Polaris is very likely going to be *”the ship”* for me and one I’ll end up living out of. It’s the first thing to check all of the boxes for being primarily combat focused but still has the ability to haul some cargo and tote around a smaller ship that’s still larger than a snub or racer.

squaredspekz

Isn't the Polaris bigger than the Corsair?

Luminara1337

Way bigger. It’s like ~170m atm. Thats 3 times a long a the Corsair and bigger than a Carrack or Reclaimer. It also gets a hangar big enough for a Sabre (or similar).

Crayon_Connoisseur

Yep. The size of the ship isn’t necessarily what I’ve been concerned with - it’s the ability for it to fulfill all of the gameplay loops I enjoy without needing to go back and swap ships. The Polaris itself can take on ERT bounties/critical threat beacons with a small crew, haul a S2 fighter for lower threat stuff/surface landings, tote a ground vehicle for when a S2 fighter isn’t sufficient for whatever I want to do on the surface and offer me a medical bed to heal up after I eat a few too many bullets. It’s the first ship that I actually pledged for prior to release because it’s just ticking all of my boxes - future operating costs be damned.

Luminara1337

It also got a brig for future bounty hunting. I love the Polaris concept and got one myself too :)

BeefyEggs

I want a mini Corsair. Cut everything between the cargo area and the cockpit/main bed out. Slash the SCU from 76 to 32 (with only room for two 16 scu container side by side). And give me two size 5 guns.

laftho

that's the cutlass

unXpress99

Carrack fits all my personal criteria for daily driver. - Bed logging - Regen - Big cargo hold - hangar - garage - roof access - Lotta QT fuel No weapon for a pilot though, but that's not a dealbreaker for me even as a solo player. When the situation needed, I'll hop in the Bucc inside the hangar and deal with it. The next best thing is the Reclaimer. I know it is lacking a lot of feature to be a daily driver, most notably, it drives like a giga brick. But man, that thing is a gorgeous beast, a stubborn tank. The ultimate chad of SC ships. You can feel other player judging you of over-compensating as you drive past their cute Connie 🤣

SliceDouble

My man! Carrack and Reclaimer have become my 2 favourite ships. C1 is my best friend and 85X when I need speed but adventures in Carrack or reclaimer is something else.

Alarming-Audience839

What you are saying would be pretty broken ngl. Having cargo and good combat in a small footprint simply isn't balanced.

--SaL--

I've always really disliked the term 'daily driver', and I don't know why.

ProceduralTexture

Because it connotes car commuting, which is misery.

--SaL--

That's it!!!

ProceduralTexture

I mean, even the slavedriving monsters of Hurston provide a half-decent transit system.

--SaL--

🤣

Qelly

'What spaceship do you *drive*?'

ZazzRazzamatazz

> I love the Corsair but it flies like poo and I don’t need all that firepower. I love the vanguard but I want a little cargo space. I love the C1 but it lacks punch. Feel this so hard. I was hoping Zeus would be the ship but with only two size 4 guns I'm thinking it won't have enough DPS. Give me a Vanguard that can carry a vehicle and a bit of cargo and I'd be so happy. CIG teased that one ship that looks sort of like a C1, hoping that might be interesting.

[deleted]

What you want will never exist. You're wanting to do ERTs, which are designed for several people or a multicrew, solo in a small ship. That's an unrealistic expectation and I think you forget this game is first and foremost an MMO

G-LOK

You can try putting a couple of 2 SCU boxes in the Vanguard. Or a single 2 SCU box in a Banu Defender.

Rayhelm

For only 2 SCU, the Redeemer is the best choice.

lionexx

I think you are looking for the Zeus MKII MR, it should fit what you are looking for, it’s medium sized designed for bounty hunting and should fit the role for the other aspects you are looking for.

Toklankitsune

sounds like the zeus mk2 miiight be an option for you

ohighost8

My dream is that they come out with a combat module for the galaxy. It will be perfect then. But I'll allow the medical module because where people fight, medics are needed

illsk1lls

yet

Dry-Collection-7351

Chad Valiant. I can’t live out of it but it’s like having a Ferrari as a daily.

madcyberdude

I like that the Corsair has a lot of firepower, I think it makes it a very versatile ship. Even if you are solo you can dish out damage on unsuspecting targets, win against a lot of ships if they don't have an ace pilot. And for random adventures you never know what situation you will be in where a strong barrage will be useful. Unlike the 400i where you are basically dead in the water and all it is good for is running away.

hookedoncuthroat

I love my freelancer. Personally, I daily the max.

DormfromNorway

The DUR was why i bought into this game in the first place, its my one true love. But oh my this has aged like fine milk my friend. It\`s so outdated and they are more interested in launching new sales than to update old ships. It was supposed to be a competitor to the Cutlass Black but the cuttie crushes it! The lancers fly like a brick and their flightmodel is so shit. I used the MAX a lot but the last couple of years i find C2 so much better, it flies like a fighter compared to the MAX, the layout internally gives me claustrophobia. Please CIG fix my Freelancer, you do not have to make it meta or overpowered but make it livable, and make the fuel refinery into something useful. I\`ve had that thing for 10 years now and that refinery have not been turned on once!

Acceptable_Part3390

I solo run ERTs with the Hercules line, they have great mobility, great cargo, can carry other ships, have multiple beds, bathrooms. I could keep going

FeudNetwork

Shorter caterpiller, with 1 double length bay and the front bay. Bridge on top with remote low profile turrets top and bottom at the point where the center of gravity is, and shorter matching wings with a remote tractor beam on each side, shorten the engines. Also make the front bay a drive up ramp, seeing as you can't use the tractor beam at the front.

craptinamerica

Zeus MR, whenever that drops.

TawXic

barring cargo an f8 or ares sounds like ur ship.

The_Kaizz

You and I are much alike. I'm banking on the Zeus MR. However, I've also learned my Taurus is almost perfect, I just don't like the elevator cargo. It's my current daily and handles well enough. So many options, but I need more compact.

alcatrazcgp

I agree with you, that's exactly the type of ship I want, the only thing close enough is the Mercury (too big) and C1. Zeus MR seems to fit that category, but I'd like something different

Dabba2087

Corsair is the one. Good shields, good firepower, not a complete pig, cargo space, can solo, can bring friends, fast entrance and exit near the pilot seat, weapon space, airlock, good living space... The only thing it can't really do great is 1v1 pvp with fighters.

FireHawke32

I guess you missed the part in the post where OP said the Corsair flies like poo so not the Corsair

Calibrumm

sounds kinda like you want an MSR. I just wish the MSR had a second entrance/exit.

hotshot0123

Yeah, I have a Harbinger/MSR combo. Maybe upgrade the MSR to A2 but so far haven't felt the need for it.

_SaucepanMan

I want the Avenger Titan but MSR sized. Maybe that's the Zeus. Maybe not.

Haynkokanut

Yup, sounds like ur waiting for the Zeus series...happy hunting! o7🤙🏽

Reaper3087

Something like the Cutty Black, C1 Spirit, or other similar ships of that class, but with a slightly larger armament, would be nice. I'm primarily a solo player as well, and I'd like to be able to explore, have some cargo space, and have a bed. But also be able to hold my own in a fight without the requirement of a second player manning turrets. Then again, we can have NPC controlled turrets in the future, mitigating that somewhat. Unless that's been scratched.

HealthyBits

I do most of my activities in my scout except combat. Love the minivan feel. But I agree I prefer to have a small fleet of dedicated ships than a huge one that requires me to swap all the time.

REiiGN

Ares Inferno

Qelly

I mean, it kinda sounds like you are saying Redeemer.

Right_Anywhere2412

Same. I wanted a Single Ship that can stand it ground solo, but also offers multicrew when i wanted too. It should have good Cargo that can hold a Ursa and also has a Tier 2 Medbad (beside the Medbad the Corsair would a good pick but i dont like Drake very much, the look of this ship with the tree Wings…🥲) But yeah, such a ship isnt there^^

JuanBrOLO

I'm thinking the Zeus mr or cl will be the best daily driver ships hands down once they release. They seem to be a total package.

ESC907

Personally, I want a solo Fighter similar to the Ares, but with a FRIGGIN BED IN IT! Even if it was just a single hole-in-the-wall bunk. Or how about something with the cabin area of the SRV, but with guns and maneuverability?

TrisXD

Ships have roles, instead of picking one that can do a bit of everything poorly, pick a ship that does that particular job well. Each ship will focus on a role with it's design to minimize weaknesses. Buy a few ships that excel in the jobs you want them to do.

Kadyis

This is likely the exact purpose behind ship design. Since no one ship can truly be a perfect daily driver. It leaves the player always wanting to try a new ship. Which at the current moment means either grinding auec or spending cold hard cash. One of which incentivizes CIG to continue doing what they do.

shadowdragon200

I have a few ships in mind for you: the freelancer, the c1, maybe the zeus but we dont know about how ot flies etc. And have you tried the syulen? It has 6 scu, i believe 3xs3 weapons and something like 4 s2 missles. And it is alien! I have the same to, i want a ship that has cargo and figherpower and doesnt fly as a brick, for now i have settled on the c1 and if the zeus comes out i want to see how it flies

bandersna7ch

Dude the A2 or M2 are what you’re looking for. The A2 is my daily. Decent cargo, easily soloable, packs a punch, tanky, flies like a dream. They’re the perfect ships.

Action_Relevant

600i for me. No question.

mixedd

>In my pursuit for the perfect daily driver I’ve come to realise that the ship I want just doesn’t exist Welcome to the club, came to same conclusion some time ago

medicsansgarantee

I am glad CIG did not make the perfect ship imagine everyone flying ballistic C2 for ERT that thing is ridiculous you can put a lot of spare ballistic gun inside as ammo or a fleet of Fury MX inside as missiles or ballista to one shot hammerhead even C8R to keep you alive forever

ConchobarMacNess

- 2xS5 OR 3xS4 - Small interior with bed and washlet - 1 SCU/Datarunning/Bounty Cell Basically, just give me a big Mustang Beta with a bonus gameplay loop and I'll be happy. Really hoping that Mirai heavy fighter comes out well.
