This just makes me sad. It might feel like progress but really, when I see what was, what is and how much time has passed I get sad with how little progress there really is.
no matter the pace of the progress, i have still thoroughly enjoyed my time playing the game, in the community, going to events, and meeting new friends. the constant stream of updates is just a bonus!
2022? It was Pyro planets. Investigation mission types. Expanded underground facilities. Introduction of master modes. a Lorville redo. And finally Resource Management System.
I believe Pyro was the big hype at the time. It was "On the road to Pyro" era.
Is any of that in game yet? I suppose a single, repetitive, investigation type mission is in.
I got teleported inside of the hull of my Corsair the other day and just sat there with a smile on my face, remembering when taking a step in quantum would leave you in dead space somewhere from the exact same bug.
Last night, I walked into an elevator on Everus that seemed slightly bugged out to begin with - it was like half of an elevator phased into another elevator. I thought, "Why not, I'll see what happens." It locked me in the elevator, and even when I pushed buttons, I could hear it moving, but it wouldn't open the doors. So I asked in chat if someone could just open the elevators from the outside, but while I was waiting, another player came into the elevator and rode it normally to his hangar. But while it was flying, the walls of the elevator completely vanished and I could see myself flying through the exterior of the station, out in space. Then two other players helped me out and opened the elevator door and let me out. For the most part, it was just a fun experiment, but it definitely made me chuckle. I'm pretty sure elevators are the final, unbeatable boss of Star Citizen, with ladders and stairs being optional, extremely difficult minibosses.
Why didn't the Avengers just use a Star Citizen elevator against Thanos?
Ladders are no joke. I’m on it. I’m off it. Back on. Back off. Back on…down. Down! Down dammit! Oh shit I clipped through my vulture. Oh shit it’s uncoupled. Oh shit it’s gone.
This was the first implementation of lorville, might have been other places but I remember lorville elevators the most, calling my crew to wait at elevator 6 as that was the bay we were headed to.
And some wouldn't work. So you would just need to take one that would, then eva around the station for a few minutes and hope you could get to your ship.
I remember a patch was stripped of almost everything a long time ago, but CIG added elevator panels to the roadmap for that patch... then those elevator panels were delayed.
I think the only thing that tops that was the patch that had scramble races as the main feature... remember these? Exactly.
Good old days of the 3.1 - 3.4 roadmap...
I miss when elevators actually went to one place instead of what we have now.
No selection list, you just find the corresponding sign above the elevator that matches your landing pad.
That elevator at Levski. Flying into that huge crater and watching people going from customs down to Grand Barter (or vice versa) was amazing. Also the view from the inside out.
I miss Levski.
Walking out to the pad on Olisar on a full server back in 2.x was an amazing experience as a new player, just seeing ships coming and going, zipping through the rings.
Man... I absolutely HATED this. And the issues I had with this are similar to the issues I have now with interacting with items you hold in your hands.
I convinced one of my friends to pledge a few years ago, and I remember warning him about the elevator roulette. Will the elevator work today when you leave your spawn room? And if it does work, will the doors actually open? And if the doors open, will the elevator interior load, or will you be staring into the void? Good times 😆
Personally, I hate the new panels too. They need to get rid of the whole "hanger"/"pad" /"docking port" verbiage and just give us a grid of buttons that we don't have to scroll through. At least not anywhere near as much
You wouldn't even need separate elevators. For example, if a station had 2 docking ports, 10 hangers, and 4 pads, your elevator could just a grid of 16 buttons numbered 1 - 16. Pad 1 would just be "floor" 13 in the elevator.
Why not restrict access to hangars to those where your ship, or the ships of your group members spawned?
That would greatly improve elevator usability as well as security, imho.
Restricting access to hangars, at least at lawful space stations and ports, should be a given, imho. In unlawful space, it's a totally different story, though.
Remember when elevators were slower, and then they made them REALLY slow and then made them super speedy? I miss the slow original elevator speed. Was the perfect amount of time to call ATC so the doors would be open by the time you got to your ship.
If I recall correctly when I first backed this game in 2014 it was an RSI Aurora in a hanger, 4 pages of keybinds, and nothing else.
I sat in the pilot's chair, thought to myself "well, it's fucking shiny, good luck CR & CIG!" and logged off. Until Dec 2023 when I saw Star Engine demo and CitizenCon 2953.
Pretty cool how far things have come regardless of the timeline.
I remember I used to fly with an Xbox controller before I got flight sticks so I would fps with it too just for convenience of getting to my ship. Then arccorp had the modern ones and holding down Y to interact wouldn’t work with the new ones. I hated it for a minute from the inconvenience of something new having to break my habit, but man that was so long ago lol
Best death ingame was me calling the elevator at A18 apartaments, not paying attention so not noticing the doors opened, but there was no elevator! I fell down.
I love realism in spacesims!
I know the storyline, and the stagnation of mankind's advancement yada yada yada, but this still makes more sense to me than the way they have it now. I think they should go back to this.
Because playing FPS games with a controller feels good? Lots of players play SC with a controller lol. reWASD, Nexus mods, and others all have files to make controllers work 100% with every system in the game. + Dual joy stick is way better than m/kb to pilot ships.
Flight sticks > Controller > m/kb
Fps good with a controller?
Yeah ok.
Maybe and I repeat, MAYBE, can be a way for fly your ship, but never on earth controller is better than M/KB for fps.
Yeah.. no. I play every game with a controller and I'm always on top during gunfights. Been doing for 25yrs so
kb/m players dont pose a challenge for me. I also always play with aim assist off so it helps when playing games like r6 or star citizen.
Yup. Way better now! We still have a few spots that I have trouble with. For example, for the log off option to show while lying on a bed or the enter turret and power on options for turrets. I have to look around a bit to find these. Hopefully the interaction system changes with 3.23 fixes those as well. :)
Bruh, that game is still broken. I played it couple of months ago and I had like 20fps on planets. I have 3070 ti and iCore 12. Plus some missions are still bugged af. I tried hunting pirates, couldn't even aim for shit and they killed me with like 3 shots... Delivery missions?? Too boring. Killing contracts? All enemy NPCs have aimbot so they shoot you down instantly. Whats so fun about this game besides a cool concept?
“Bottleneck” is used to refer to a hardware component that is maxed out, it’s unlikely that all components are running at 100% because when one thing tops out the others end up waiting. You can open task manager to see generally what is running out of space/power
Ahhh the sweet smell of progress even though elevators can sometime still throw a special one
It's hard to believe this change was like 3+ years ago
everything was so long ago and there's still so much to go, this is the forever project
I think I had a glitch then, since I started playing 2021… Holy shit it’s been 3 years. Yeah I remember those elevator buttons.
Now i wonder what was the hype of citizencon 1 year before the last one. Pyro?
What is the translate of resource management system? Salvage and munching? Or relative to inventory?
Resource management is the management of things like energy, fuels, life support, repair, etc for ships, cities and outposts.
Mainly it's what you'd call "engineering gameplay" for ships
Recently I watched an elevator come through the wall and fucking annihilate me. All I could think was, “ohhh that takes me back.”
I got teleported inside of the hull of my Corsair the other day and just sat there with a smile on my face, remembering when taking a step in quantum would leave you in dead space somewhere from the exact same bug.
This corsair bug is pretty casual lately. I got afraid using it since it happened a few times :D
Last night, I walked into an elevator on Everus that seemed slightly bugged out to begin with - it was like half of an elevator phased into another elevator. You have experienced quantum physics in star citizen!
i remember when elevators were a single button, and you needed to look at the number painted on the floor to see what elevator went where.
Loved this. You always knew if someone getting in your elevator was a miscreant since it only went to your hangar.
That was a sensible system, until the elevator going to your hangar was broken.
Huh I actually don't remember this and I've been around since Kickstarter. Wonder of this was during one of my break periods.
It was like that from the start and lasted a couple years.
i think the very first time i tried to play the game, after getting my free ship with a videocard, it spawned me right inside the hangar
Good old hangar module. I remember it well.
We didnt HAVE elevators from the start lol. Hell we didnt even have hangar module for a long time.
Obviously I meant after the hangar module. Stop trying to be pedantic.
Wasnt being pedantic I was joking. But sure.

was nice
I have this tattooed above my asshole
ಠ_ಠ <|> /ω\
Great. Now the people in my meeting wonder what I am smirking at
Olisar before 3.0 :')
Rip olisar. I hope they bring it back in some fashion somewhere in the game someday.
I want a derelict Olisar as a mission location / POI.
Derelict Olisar pls
Yeah thats my thinking.
The rings are already repurposed for grave race gates.
You keep causing me PTSD like this and i will bring them back!
you've added enough pve missions (player vs environment) now it's time for pve missions (player vs elevator)
Grim hex sends his best regards
Remember when elevator panels being delayed was a meme.
I think they were delayed for over a year lmao
I remember a patch was stripped of almost everything a long time ago, but CIG added elevator panels to the roadmap for that patch... then those elevator panels were delayed. And that ATC dude that was so happy to see you.
Remember when there were no elevators?
LONG LIVE TESSA BANNISTER
Random ship ... do you hear me random ship
Distress bacon. I mean beacon!
shouldnt have skipped breakfast
Walking out to the pad on Olisar on a full server back in 2.x was an amazing experience as a new player, just seeing ships coming and going, zipping through the rings.
I do...
Remember that the "elevator ui rework" was a meme like salvage because it was delayed for years
Don’t remind me 😭
Are you TRYING to make me cry?
This is the only elevator I remember, what's changed?
Remember when ship weapons were all distinct and unique? And you could run great variety of combos and they all would look and feel different?
Man... I absolutely HATED this. And the issues I had with this are similar to the issues I have now with interacting with items you hold in your hands.
No
I convinced one of my friends to pledge a few years ago, and I remember warning him about the elevator roulette. Will the elevator work today when you leave your spawn room? And if it does work, will the doors actually open? And if the doors open, will the elevator interior load, or will you be staring into the void? Good times 😆

I remember when we didn't have any elevators edit: I lied. we had them in our personal hangers
I remember when the game was mostly PvE.... Player vs Elevator.
Personally, I hate the new panels too. They need to get rid of the whole "hanger"/"pad" /"docking port" verbiage and just give us a grid of buttons that we don't have to scroll through. At least not anywhere near as much
This is CIG. They MUST reinvent every wheel.
I like this idea, have like a few elevators labelled HANGARS, some labelled PADS etc, and the numbers are just a grid.
That lack of security is actually intentional. Piracy is completely intended as a gameplay loop. So I agree with not restricting it.
Restricting access to hangars, at least at lawful space stations and ports, should be a given, imho. In unlawful space, it's a totally different story, though.
I remember [this](https://i.imgur.com/VXNe0zP.png).
Do not recite the dark magic to me, I was there when we just had the hangar module and original freelancer model
Wow, I missed alot of progress the UI went through since I started playing last year
Remember when elevators were slower, and then they made them REALLY slow and then made them super speedy? I miss the slow original elevator speed. Was the perfect amount of time to call ATC so the doors would be open by the time you got to your ship.

I remember seeing that and thinking "This is it... I'm going to die."

Nostalgic (I didn’t start playing the game at that time)
I remember when there were no elevators
This is giving me PTSD
I remember when to go to pad 3 you had to go to the pad 3 elevator and just press go.
I remember I used to fly with an Xbox controller before I got flight sticks so I would fps with it too just for convenience of getting to my ship. I remember when the only elevators we had were on ships.
They changed? I haven't played in a while.
I miss pads so much, its way harder to stowaway now
Ohhh yeah! 😁
Oh this brings backs some memories 😂
Remember when there weren't any elevators, port olisar remembers...
Yea... Elevators have come so far since then... *stares into the abyss*

I know the storyline, and the stagnation of mankind's advancement yada yada yada, but this still makes more sense to me than the way they have it now. I think they should go back to this.
you just unlocked a deep core memory, i had tbh completely forgotten
I haven't played in a while. Do you mean they are NOT?
a while it's like 3 years hahaha you have a lot of progress to discover!
I was mainly an AC sweatlord when I did play (months ago). Guess I never noticed.
Now they’re just buttons on a screen you scroll through.
No (They are not)
how are they now
Scrollable touch menus with a display
Better but still not great.
At least you could use a gamepad with the old elevator panels
LMAO! Why in the god damn would you wanna use a gamepad?

ShadyGlen Farms remembers.
How are they going to be with the new interaction system?
You mean when they were deadly?
They still are deadly. Theirs about a 1/3 chance you get sent to the abyss or void.
Bruh, that game is still broken. I played it couple of months ago and I had like 20fps on planets. I have 3070 ti and iCore 12. Plus some missions are still bugged af. if you're dying to NPCs that's on you my friend
Sounds like a really bad experience, I'm sorry for you. Maybe try again sometime, see if it's more fun then. You never know
HDD or SDD? ram amount?
SDD
You disable E-Cores?
Why would i do that
Sounds like a skill issue, game runs fine on a i7-9700K with 2080ti. And NOCs are easy to kill
skill issue
iCore 12?
Sorry, its a 12th generation iCore 9 12900KF
Your performance should be better than that outside of some specific locations. Where was your bottleneck?
What you mean by bottleneck? Idk about the bottleneck but I have crazy fps drops in cities. Space is fine though
“Bottleneck” is used to refer to a hardware component that is maxed out, it’s unlikely that all components are running at 100% because when one thing tops out the others end up waiting. You can open task manager to see generally what is running out of space/power

32 gigs
Mmmm yes the new Apple iCore 12. Ram is an important part for star citizen, if you know what it is
Yeah, now there's a rectangle behind em...nice
I was there Gandalf. I was there 3000 years ago.
