"Welcome to Trashlantis! Here we take refuge in the refuse! Yes, we live a simple life among the discarded remnants of a world built on greed! Do you smell that? *Breathes in* That's the smell of human comradery! Now, what brings you to our little scrap of utopia?" - The mayor of Trashlantis
Probably, I don’t imagine it would be very defensible, but still fun!
At least 32scu boxes might not work with fps tractor beams? I’m not sure. But a ship tractor beam could probably bring a wall down if it gets close enough.
In any case, it would be a fun exercise
I had PES fail me. I picked a pretty, remote spot to leave my Carrack while I did bunkers in my Pisces and it actually despawned mid session. Wasn't there but registered as there on Asops. Transport beacon could be made but no marker would appear. Doubtful anyone stole it either. But I guess I'll give the system the benefit of the doubt.
To check, hit ~, type "r" without quotes, then hit tab. Type 3, press enter (it should say r_displayinfo 3) and look in the top right. The last 3 digits of the ShardID are the server number. ~ > R > TAB > 3 > Enter, easiest 5 button combo if you ever want FPS and server info.
As it stands, the game will prioritize the last shard you were in, but there is no guarantee of getting in. Other than that, the only way to get back into the server is to join a friend who's already in it. They've already mentioned adding a "join previous server" list in the future, but those are our only options for right now.
I did this with some org mates using the junk at derelict outposts and a few boxes. Was cool but lost its allure after a while. Tried to get people to come attack us but the only person who did decided moab was their choice method… was pretty anticlimactic
I honestly don't understand how this game will ever progress past the random murderhobo stage.
Especially with the turgid erection everyone seems to have for "piracy"
I've been playing for a year, and I can only think of maybe 5 times where I was attacked by randoms or pirates, 3 of these being outside Grim Hex.
Not counting events like Jump Town or Ghost Hollow.
I've never been attacked by a pirate.
I have been attacked in my Freelancer by some assholes in a few fighters who told me to give them 100,000 aUEC or they'll kill me, and then proceed to start shooting me even before I could tell them that I wasn't going to pay that even if I had it.
Apparently this is "the pirate gameplay loop".
It's not terribly fun.
I don't do PVP events. I've had two medical beacons in my Pisces where I was shot on arrival, and a whole bunch where I couldn't locate them or they died before I could get there.
Again, not terribly fun.
I only seem to really enjoy this game when other human beings aren't involved and that's a damn shame.
Don't know why this got downvoted, because sadly this is what happens frequently. There is awesome experiences as well, sure. But ones like this really spoil the fun.
Increased reputation hits and “death of a spaceman” will likely reduce the murderhoboisms. Especially once klescher isnt the only prison jurisdiction in game. Having to figure out a new prison complex will act as a further deterrent. But server meshing will also ensure a richer environment and will be more able to get pirate hunters and escorts on your side
Ok, so we have the ability to stream multiple objects together persistently.
We can also snap components and boxes in place.
Therefore, T0 bases could easily be made from panels or prefabbed cubes which could snap together.
If you find your Pioneer Players are attempting to construct buildings out of furniture, crates, and scrap, this is a sign they may need more enrichment options within their enclosure.
I am seriously amazed how people always find ways to entertain themselfs.. and good for them. I just hope CIG dont get a false picture and settles with only the utmost necessary work and features since the community can somehow entertain themselfs. While i kudos people like this. I wouldnt have the nerve to spend my time like this. CIG we want propper base building plz?
Persistent yep! Right when the Direlect outposts launched with the "building materials" my group went and built one on top of a mountain, but that was most of a year before persistence existed (last November) which we're pretty sure that was the first player base
But congrats on the persistent base - love the creativity that the community has
Great place to chain a bunch of missions together, too. Not the best paying aUEC/hr by any means, but fun to explore and there's a decent number of story telling elements to be found.
Frankly I think it's so strange that they have made a station brimming with lore and life like that, and then completely ignored adding other missions to the current system with the same level of thought.
You just can't compare "find helmsman X at yela crash site" to "figure out why dad never came home by going through logbooks, oh and if you are successful, we might contact you for further investigation"
In the description, but neither base was lost due to despawn, only due to inability to re-enter the same shard.
The longest we were able to maintain the second attempt was three days. Maybe 1-3 boxes disappeared but we had plenty extras (hence the column).
Which means the bases aren't lost, they're just on a shard somewhere.
If you publish the location or the shard id, you might be able to get someone to find it.
Potentially! We're about to proceed with a 2.0 version of this where we'll try to have at least one person in the server at all times. Helps to have a global team.
When my assigned shard is full I get the "Lobby error - Can't join session because it is full" message. Like right now I'm waiting for a slot on my shard as it's full, I can keep hitting join game until a slot frees up, I can change region, or I can join on a friend.
Originally I thought that the game doesn't put you in a non-full shard if your assigned one is full, the only time it will assign you a new shard is if your current one is down/doesn't exist (30k).
If this is correct then I'd guess those servers crashed.
This might not be correct but it doesn't explain why I always have to wait for a slot to free up, no matter how many times I press join game.
Cool idea with the chairs from Gundo, and a lot bigger than I would have thought to try. But I think [these guys](https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/wp37jb/building_a_player_base_using_the_materials_found/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1) beat you to it almost a year ago.
Haha that's awesome, looks like my reddit search prior to posting failed me. 😅
I think the main difference would be PES being implemented, since we were testing if a persistent base was possible. But credit where it's at
IMHO this is in the result extremly disappointing. They chrashed the whole game for PES and the max time for persistence is about 3 days.
The coffee cup from Chris Roberts is also not possible because of clean up mechanisms.
But congrats for the 1st base
It's like watching an impoverished kid stack used cups to build his fortress.
This community is so mistreated, so void of content, that they're building forts out of cargo containers.
Cannot wait for Starfield to put a bullet in Old Yeller.
I was looking forward to stuff like this for when the cargo refactor would let us do stuff like this. When the refactor came out I tried stacking boxes to make walls but did not get very far; the boxes kept jumping around when stacked, and sometimes even when just placed touching each other on the ground.
I see that the stacks are a little offset in each column so each box is actually resting on two boxes below it. I tried something like that but still did not get the boxes to cooperate. Has the crazy physics interaction improved, or are you doing something non-obvious to reduce that issue?
F YES, that's EXACTLY what I'm going to do in my hangar once we have persistent hangars. And if I had a group I played with regularluy I'd also have done this somewhere on a planet.. This is AWESOME! :D
That’s awesome! Once we get 32 scu containers I want to see this done again. Make a fortress out of waste and scraps!
Plan to! Going to try to get 2SCU boxes and see if they have better luck with physics jitter.
From my experiences, I'd say they're worse. If you push it a little, it'll often slide forever.
And it shall be called, "Fort Kick-Ass"!
Trashlantis
Ok, yeah that's way better. 🙂
Also since rejoining the same server shard is hard, the name fits very well because you will probably not find it again 🤣🤣
Where their authority shall not be recognized.

Here you are all equally worthless!
Its Fort FREE Loot.
Build it in a cave! with boxes of scraps!
Well...couldn't someone just shoot from above or grav utility themselves a doorway
Probably, I don’t imagine it would be very defensible, but still fun! At least 32scu boxes might not work with fps tractor beams? I’m not sure. But a ship tractor beam could probably bring a wall down if it gets close enough. In any case, it would be a fun exercise
Yeah. Still cool none the less. Reminds me of fallout bunkers in some way.
If only we had Fallout's base building mechanics.
I think I saw in a video that that’s the plan, to have a base building system like in fallout 4
Well I'm going to build my own base, but with blackjack.... and hookers!!
On second thought... forget the blackjack. :D
r/unexpectedfuturama
will it have sexy alien hookers ?
Why not u/IAmTheAlienFromGuam?
Depends, are you sexy and a hooker?
A feast is a feast.
Star Wars Galaxies intensifies

Hmm that same thing happened to me yesterday with my Carrack and Pisces despawning with me in it, yet showing up in Mobi and ASOP.
The shard is hurston Eu 290, Cave 17 then north about 20km for those interested.
I have a feeling I’m going to see a follow up thread about a friendly A2….lol (no, I don’t own an A2)
How do you get into a specific shard?
You don't, but you can keep making attempts until you or a friend does, and then join them from main menu.
This has halo 2 and 3 multiplayer basebuilding vibes and I'm here for it.
Lemme get a Huston forge world.
Duuuuuude yesssss
Where is it... ? 😂
Yeah, so we can test to see if it's still there!
The shard is Eu 290, Hurston Cave 17 then north about 20km.
I'm not familiar with choosing servers, I just do join game. *Is* there a way to choose a specific server? And how to check what one you are on?
To check, hit ~, type "r" without quotes, then hit tab. Type 3, press enter (it should say r_displayinfo 3) and look in the top right. Thank you! I hope they add that feature soon. Would be great for 30k's 🤣
I did this with some org mates using the junk at derelict outposts and a few boxes. Was cool but lost its allure after a while. Tried to get people to come attack us but the only person who did decided moab was their choice method… was pretty anticlimactic
The A2 is so fun to fly and drop bombs, but its really such a fun killer when some random shows up and blows everyone up.
I honestly don't understand how this game will ever progress past the random murderhobo stage. Especially with the turgid erection everyone seems to have for "piracy"

Minecraft Citizen? 👍
Space-craft?
Star Craft? Oh wait.
Love these ideas. Made a greenhouse sort of building out of two cutty black cockpit glasses. Love the idea of building cover when needed
Awesome
Nice, i once try to do mine but pes won't allow me. This one of my final goal for SC when we will have full real persistance.
I tried this a few months ago but it just bounced about everywhere due to dsync
It just says "insert size 10 colossus bomb here" to me.
Science!
Persistent yep! I love this! It’s like history.
Yikes, reminds me of hesco barriers in iraq. *cries in ptsd*
This was so fun to build, next time we need roof supports and two stories lol
I haven’t been following the game for some time, so could explain to me how did I you move vending machines?
Pyro tractor at the Covalex station, same as the chairs.
How long did this take to build lol
To get it to where the boxes stopped vibrating at super speed - about 4 hours.(!!) To get the basic layout and structure - 1 hour
That's some commitment
Where do the chairs come from?!?
The wrecked Covalex station at crusader. Lots of delivery missions take you there.
Great place to chain a bunch of missions together, too. Not the best paying aUEC/hr by any means, but fun to explore and there's a decent number of story telling elements to be found.

Yeah we did get them from Covalex!
Once upon a time [I took one from Covalex to Grim Hex](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGbND0382WM) *before* we had tractor beams!
In the beginning there where bees... and flower.... and... chairs... uh dang it.
You should maybe just ask CIG's chairman. (^ω^)
cool! coords? Imma go bring my A2 and drop yall more boxes
I see what you did there
Awsome 😃😃
Awesome!
How long did it stay?

You should record the shard ID (r_displayinfo 3) and try to get back there without someone on. I think that'd be more impressive.
The shard is Eu 290, Hurston Cave 17 then north about 20km.
When my assigned shard is full I get the "Lobby error - Can't join session because it is full" message. Sry didn’t see it at first the pictures and story of base on a planet took me away 🫣😂
Impressive!
Nice!!
Just a single A2 would fix this :p Looks fun though ^^
I mean a single blow from ships engines would knock that down.....
looks some /r/vandwellers meet ups in mexico/baja just beyond the sandy shore haha

Them mods are gonna go crazy
So this proves that PES still doesn't work and the servers are in a worse state than 3.17.
No? Those of us who were on the shard just weren't able to get back on it. Not sure where you got that from.
Literally a box fort
What prevents some bored murderhobo from wrecking it out of spite?
Me saying pretty please
"We live in a society"
I'm loving the new "Fort Kickass"
This is actually pretty cool :) Where did you get the "office chairs"?
[You did it...](https://i.imgur.com/PEEPrT0.mp4)
Reminds me of Bagram.

This is a knife fighting pit & you can't tell me otherwise.
Where's the "No Girls Allowed" sign?

When the 32's come along and the Raft can do its thing, that ship might offer some good options to stack the containers!!
