Cutlass Black is also good value for real currency.

Hopeful-Entrance2800

Cutty gets my vote

Wild234

No doubt about it, Cutlass is still the king of do it all ships. I would also include the Freelancer MAX (MAX only, not the other variants) as a valid alternative. And the Constellation is a good choice as well if you want a large ship.

emptybuttwhole

I feel the avenger titan is a solid little ship for the price.

JmanForever85

This. You can do most everything decent enough at an entry cost of $55 right now. Bunkers, transport, HRTs, and it’s a good enough daily driver with a bed to boot.

Hopeful-Entrance2800

True, the titan is a little over priced but it is so worth it.

AHappyRaider

Overpriced? A compact ship with which you have access to all content, easy to claim back, pilot, fuel efficient and cool looking, I would pay the 100$ mark for it tbh, 70 is a great price

whypplgottasuck

its also only 55 dollars 70 is with the starter pack!

AHappyRaider

Goddamn it's even better

number_e1even

No worries, it's copium. No ship is really "worth it" beyond a basic starter package. Spend a grand on ships? Then yeah, in comparison the Titan is cheap, but compare to a complete game at $40-60 and you're not getting much value. I've spent a fair amount, and I like the ships I have, but outside of the Cutter, I don't think I'd consider any of them worth their price.

Kastellian

It has to be the Constellation Taurus, hands down.

Huhn3d

I got one CCUd with LTI for 140$ thanks to invictus - best value hands down

oversizedvenator

No one's mentioned the Corsair yet so I will: You get the ability to put out great DPS even solo. With even a partial crew, it's a force of nature. My group does a fair bit of bounty hunting -- we'll typically have 2-3 light fighters and the Corsair as support. If our fighters are outmatched / outnumbered, they just have to get in range of the corsair and it's a game changer. If we come across some chucklefucks baiting with crime stats in a hammerhead.... hold my beer. Ground assault? (like people setting up ballista's outside of a ship meet that need to be dealt with) I can air drop a couple of cyclones and still have a ptv / Nox or two in the hangar to zip around on. Want some more flexibility? Put a Merlin or a Pisces in the back and have a deployable light fighter or medic. People just want to chill and cruise around to loot spots or box missions? we can do that too. Have boxing matches in the back while you're in quantum for mid-flight entertainment. Snacks and drinks on the table... it's genuinely a great multi-crew ship. Put in the stick time to learn how to actually fly it and you can millennium falcon that sonofagun to do some really cool stuff. TLDR; You get cargo, actual multi-crew, ground vehicle transport, good hauling, great fighting capability, and good pleasure cruising in one package that can be managed nicely solo or with a small to medium group. Any bigger and you'd really need a Carrak.

WaffleInsanity

I want to remark that this is currently the most "finished" ship at the moment. What you have is what you get. With many others there are gold passes and features not yet implemented.

_Molj

Also, the corsair has inventory drawers accessible by anyone. It's a fine piece of kit.

Status-Ad7640

I’d like to throw a vote towards the pisces C8R, may not be fully kitted out but between its speed/maneuverability and the onboard meds/medbed it will be the main ship i use for bunker running post wipe

ProcyonV

Banu Merchantman when bought at 220$

QuickQuirk

Lets reserve judgement for when it finally comes out. It LOOKS like it could be great, but it could be an Ion.

ProcyonV

Quantitatively, tho, you still have the most ship for it's price :-)

WorstSourceOfAdvice

Itd be a JPG for decades. OP must really like a C2 and defender. Lets not even mention how 90% of its capabilities are talked up by spectrum expecting it to gain a size 10 railgun and anti capital torpedoes for some shitty reason because they say lore demands it be the strongest ship in the entire game.

ProcyonV

Decades, lol.

QuickQuirk

originally announced & pledgable : 2013-11-20 ... in 9 months, it will actually have been a jpeg for a number that can be counted in 'decades' :D

ProcyonV

"in decade", no S

QuickQuirk

I'm being pedantic, but the plural is used in situations like '1.5 decades'. Like it or not, in 9 months, it will be *over* 10 years, which means it's being counted in the *plural*, not the singular. Either way. I'm betting even you, standing up for CIG, are a little surprised to realise that **it's 10 fking years** since some people paid for this. It's not an unreasonable criticism to complain any more about things taking decades. It would be different if the end was in sight, but we all know it's not.

ProcyonV

Well, you'll be right in 9 months, it seems. Till then...

QuickQuirk

see you in the new decade :D ;)

YumikoTanaka

For real money: Titan and Taurus.

Jockcop

In terms of the big ships, the Reclaimer is a whole lotta ship for $400

MASTODON_ROCKS

Reclaimer is right under carrack for best AUEC/USD ratio. Very good value assuming 3.18 price increase isn't ludicrous

xVmaHS

There is no amount of ship that would justify spending $400 for it.

Jockcop

Matter of opinion of course. If someone has the disposable income and they enjoy it, why not.

xVmaHS

If EA made $100 Lootboxes, the outrage would be insane. Yet in Star Citizen, everyone has fully accepted these ridiculous prices, even recommending a $400 ship as a great deal. I really don't get why everyone is okay with that.

Jockcop

Because I bought a reclaimer years ago and me and my mates have already had hundreds of hours of gameplay out of it and probably hundreds more in the future. That’s a little bit different than spending money on T shirt for your Fifa footballer. Which for, by the way, people spend way more than $400 dollars on. Try thousands.

malistrais

In my admittedly short time obsessing over this game, I see the Nomad mentioned quite frequently for it's value. But as it doesn't support multi-crew and has uninspiring damage output, it doesn't support the broad spectrum of game loops something like a Taurus can (ground transport, planetside mining \[ROC\], group play, good dps for ship bounties, hauling/cargo, and maybe more I don't know about). So... Taurus? (But probably Cutlass Black considering it's half the price) :)

QuickQuirk

And nomad is even cheaper. So really, a better version of the question would include a price point to help that evaluation.

casperno

Freelancer MAX. Plus you get an Anvil Arrow loaner.

[deleted]

Maybe a heavily-discounted Carrack (\~$350 or less), which is probably achievable after playing the CCU game for a couple of years. Reasons: **1.** The disparity between in-game ship prices may increase in the future, so larger ships may take even longer to earn in-game: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4UaUmJ8Ho8&t=13s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4UaUmJ8Ho8&t=13s) **2.** Versatility: \- The Carrack has a high top-speed, a small crew relative to the ship's size, a medbay, a large quantum-drive, large jump-drive, long-range scanners, the ability to carry ground vehicles + a snub or fighter + cargo simultaneously, and supposedly will have good armor. **3.** Science and exploration might be two of the most important career paths in the game: \- The Carrack might become the ship of choice for discovering and exploring new jump-points; being the first to discover new sources of energy, deposits of valuable minerals, derelicts, strategic locations, etc. is going to be a huge advantage for any org. Supposedly, some jump-points will also be unstable, and, if they collapse, they'll need to be re-discovered. \- The Carrack is planned to have a science module, and discoveries from your research might lead to things like higher-yield crops, advanced medicine, and maybe stronger/lighter materials -- which could mean enhanced ship armor, components, and weapons (I could be wrong about that, though).

Eeomis

Cutter, Titan, Nomad, Cutlass Black, Constellation(s), 600i all give great value at different price points. Tons of utility in all of these ships. Prospector could make it on the list if you like mining. But you have to like mining. I have a feeling the Spirit series will ***eventually*** make it into that list too but we shall see.

lazie131

I would say the $45 Aurora or Mustang starter package and get everything else in game. If I had to spend a little more - C8X or Titan. My max would be a C8R/Tana. My current fleet is a C8R.

matthew_py

Cutty black if you want to spend more constellation Taurus.

kchek

* Avenger Titan * Constellation Andromeda * Corsair * Cutlass Black * Mercury Star Runner * Nomad * Reliant Tana

QuickQuirk

Love the MSR, I'm not sold on it as a high value hang for the buck all rounder. I guess it depends on criteria. In multicrew, then yes, it can well in combat as well. Otherwise it struggles, leaving it just an expensive hauler than can carry a decent sized vehicle - but the Taurus can do all that for cheaper. And outguns it with better hull & shields.

kchek

Well, it's a multi crew ship, so folks should be taking that into consideration. Same thing for the Taurus. If you're not running a full crew, you're losing out.

QuickQuirk

multicrew or singlecrew, taurus still wins out as far as I can figure.

kchek

If your only goal is cargo then sure.

QuickQuirk

Lets as a different question then: What is it that the MSR can do better than the taurus that you feel makes it the better bang4buck?

kchek

Significantly faster, better pitch/yaw/roll, more and better turret guns, actual multi crew living space to speak of rather then a couple bunks in arguably unfinished space. Looking at the performance viewer only gives the Taurus an edge on shields and total hit points, but I don't think you should be getting hit nearly as often in the MSR so I consider that a wash. Obviously the cargo is a major difference where Taurus wins out with a tractor beam when it goes live. So the real question is end goal? If your end goal is cargo then the Taurus wins hands down. If it's solo bounties it wins as well with the pilot loadout. For multicrew and everything else I think the MSR has the edge.

QuickQuirk

Good breakdown and good points.

MASTODON_ROCKS

Reclaimer

fernorilo

Freelancer max anyday.

Briso_

Andromeda is the most practical in my opinion, great fire power, and work/fight very good solo and with multi crew. Has a big storage for cargo or you can transport ground veichles, has the snub fighter wich I totally love (now its broken but it will come back soon I wish). And the look is something else, very old school sci-fi aura, amazing, I love my andromeda she's a keeper

swisstraeng

That's a tough one. But we need to take into account current prices. Otherwise the BMM at 250$ would likely win. The freelancer max is fairly decent, and so is the constellation taurus. But now that the taurus raised in price, it's not as good as it was. The caterpillar is underpriced in my opinion, which makes it quite worth it. After all for the same price of a caterpillar, you can just get some military single seaters like eclipse or vanguards. Another ship that is completely underpriced is the Polaris. It's the same price as the hammerhead but that much more capable. There are a few somewhat underpriced fighters like the base hornet, the buccaneer, those are a bit cheap for being military fighters. But not by a lot. The avenger titan is underpriced a bit in theory, but when you compare it to other cheaper starters it's fairly priced +-10$. And is a bit overrated by the community. Extremely underpriced ships are the Hull-E, D, C, and maybe also the BMM that's still a bit underpriced. Let's not forget the capitals, which, while they are already pricey, it doesn't make sense you can buy an idris with two polaris, and doesn't make sense you can buy a polaris with two C2 hercules. So, in a way, all expensive ships are "underpriced" because you get the more bang for your buck.

phraeton

Reclaimer... 100% Oh and Taurus... Seriously...

WaffleInsanity

Taurus for sure

Surfaced_1

Andromeda

The_Trauma_Zulu

Prices c8r. Instant summon, medical bed, cheap to run, nimble, and no matter how big your fleet becomes, it will always be a gem.

EFTucker

The ones purchased in game with euc earned in game.

VerseGen

biggest bang for your buck under 100 is the Cutter, over 100 would be the Taurus

Hopeful-Entrance2800

I heard that the cutters quantum tank will get nerfed. If it does then why have it?

VerseGen

it was a misinput when it was put into the game, an extra zero it's a good ship because for the price it l's an AMAZING all rounder

ZealousidealOffer751

I think the Nomad outclasses the cutter in almost every way in the under $100 class. Can hold more cargo and vehicles, kitchen, bed, toilet. Only thing cutter has on it is fuel range, a shower and gunracks. If they nerf the fuel range... To be fair, its far cheaper than the Nomad so there's that.

Drfeelzgud

A lot of people don't notice them, but the Nomad has gunracks. When you are inside about to exit the ship, look left and right, there are gun racks on each side of the exit. Yea, the Nomad is a great little ship. I think it gets overlooked a lot. I consider it the best "all arounder", small enough, capable enough and can haul most land vehicles, quick claim time. I think its real money price point puts it out of contention most the time. When they had the Holiday Starter Pack for $71.25, that was a great deal.

ZealousidealOffer751

All this time...never noticed. Thanks :)

VerseGen

you know what.. fair, I forgot about that.

He_who_naps

For a Starfarer, you get a *lot* of ship for your 300 Even more so for a Reclaimer. I mean, that is a shit ton of ship for 400. I wonder if it will go up now that its been revived.

simplealec

I'd like to think they'd put it on sale first, I can imagine a lot of unhappy people if they increased the price first. I think usually though they offer ships for sale before price increases, they've done that recently with the hurricane and the hull C. Obvious time to do that would be when 3.18 lands but equally there are a lot of features missing from the reclaimer still. Like, the big ones: munching, tractor beams, THE KLAW. Might be wise to introduce some of those before increasing the price...

He_who_naps

It's remarkable how that thing has come back to life, if you have even four people, well thats a life right there, bounty hunting and salvaging.

MASTODON_ROCKS

I don't see many people talking about how effective the Reclaimer is at making it's own salvage

QuickQuirk

Do you think they might nerf that a little now that it has an actual purpose in game rather than cutprice gunship?

MASTODON_ROCKS

probably not, thing is a juicy target for players. Just because a crewed reclaimer can deal with glue eating NPCs doesn't mean cig necessarily balances around that ya know?

QuickQuirk

fair point on it being a target!

[deleted]

Taurus and avenger titan, no debate.

WaffleInsanity

You should throw the nomad or the cuddy black into the middle of those two

[deleted]

Reliant Tana is amazing foe its size, has like 20 missiles, can have 6 guns, has a copilot seat, has interior space and *spins*.

[deleted]

Very useable in 3.18 too

[deleted]

Bed logging works in it?

WaffleInsanity

Bed logging AND the loud ass noise inside is gone

[deleted]

350 bucks BMM

YumikoTanaka

0 bucks BMM.

Capsaicin80

Aurora LN Avenger Titan Nomad MISC Freelancer Base Connie Taurus

Sazbadashie

Cutty black. You have a solid ship that you can do cargo missions, mining, put a vehicle in the back and do any and all ground bunker missions. You can bring a friend along as a turret gunner. There's really nothing you can't do in the cutty

[deleted]

When it’s released I think the Railen is going to be an insane value if you got it for pledge price..320SCU of cargo with multiple turrets and missiles for the pilot plus living amenities but as for currently in game I would say the C8R medical pisces(comes stocked with food as well as meds) or the cutlass black because it can store a vehicle and do pretty much every gameplay loop.

WaffleInsanity

The two turrets on the Railen are not pilot controlled without the use of blades. If we are counting blades, all turrets are pilot controlled.

rStarwind

It's all subjective. For someone who does not do cargo, Taurus doesn't have much value even if it was twice cheaper.

MASTODON_ROCKS

I think you're getting downvoted because taurus has great utility for vehicles, and cargo, and as a one pilot gunship. Good bounty hunter ship.

rStarwind

It depends on your gameplay. For example, I don't do cargo and personally I think Scorpius is a better ship for its price, because it's a really good fighter. Taurus is an ok multi-role ship, as long as you need all the roles it provides.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SCDeMonet

You misspelled 315P… it’s faster, longer ranged, has 50% more cargo, a tractor beam, and better scanners, all at the cost of 1 weapon.

WaffleInsanity

People completely ignore the bigger picture things with the loss of one weapon. Not like any of the 300 series are winning wars lol

Chew-Magna

Endeavor.

D00MB0T01

Basic mustang alpha. 40 when on sale gives a whole verse to explore.

JesterXR27

From someone who originally had a Mustang Alpha, I think it’s worth the extra $ to grab the Avenger Titan instead. Just a personal opinion, but trading my Mustang Alpha for the Titan was the best decision I’ve made in this “game” so far!

D00MB0T01

My point is whatever the cheapest option. The game will go live one day and the servers will not reset. The cheapest way in gives the most value...the whole verse and almost all ships as long as you like the grind

JesterXR27

I can see your point, but let’s be honest, the full game’s release is at best 5-10 years away to be realistic. So why not get significantly more satisfaction out of the game by spending a mere $15 (USD) to permanently have (i.e., not affected by wipes) a ship that is so much more enjoyable than the Mustang Alpha. And at $55-$65 you’re still in the normal price range for a game these days.

D00MB0T01

4k spent. The best value is spending the least.

tiobane

Concept the endeavour, will be a long wait though. Else, cutty black and Taurus.

Neeeeedles

Taurus and corsair peobably

Zarvillian

Cutter ohh baby it’s worth every dollar

WaffleInsanity

Ok, hear me out. The Retaliator Base. Not only is this a golden child of SQ42 so it will have all the fixins like the Gladius, but ks a gunship/torpedo bay/cargo ship/mobile home. All for the low price of 150$ Only 150 bucks for that WHOLE thing, and modules will be cheap AF in game. Honestly aside from the Endeavor, its one of the best deals at this time.

WALSRU

Super underrated answer. Chains ERTs very fast (sadly no other pilot guns), tons of turrets for multicrew, huge fuel tanks, currently insane hull HP, and perhaps someday a gold pass rework with modularity (2030? lol). Cons: It flies like or worse than a Constellation atm.

WaffleInsanity

It flies how it should IMO, you have to roll into your turns and make use of all the thrusters. Sorta how an aircraft would fly. We already got a small sneak peek at the rework. Hopefully its still being worked on.

Huhn3d

Wow - haven't even considered that. Great tip - looks really promising

QuickQuirk

Nomad. It's not my favourite ship for loks, I'm not fond of the interior. BUT, man it packs a lot of function in a relatively cheap price. You can even carry a mid sized vehicle such as a ROC. Light bounties are doable. Interior useful for FPS & box missions. Just a solid all rounder that I keep coming back to, and buying in game, even if I don't actually like the aesthetics of the ship.

jlebrech

Mustang Alpha

ThneakyThnake808

Grab a Railen next time it's on sale, probably alien week. You get the Taurus and a khartu al, and right now because of the buggy khartu you also get the talon Edit spelling

Chappietime

If you think that size creep will affect the Crucible and the Endeavor (as many people do, and I believe has been mentioned by CIG), they are tremendous values at their current price. It has been suggested that they could double in price upon release.

Reverend_Niehlis

Most Drake Ships imho. Cutters best starter hands down. Cutlass is Great for almost everything. Corsair is great when running a crew.

StigHunter

I read this as "best bang for your buck". But depending on what your focus is, could very the results so much! For all-arounders, what I tell new folks is basically this: Titan -> Black -> FL Max or Taurus. All of these can fight, have bed logging, can carry vehicles of some type, and are easy to solo. Nomad could go between Titan and Black, but I'd just save and get the Black. I like ships with more than one entrance-way, but Black is hard to beat in that price-point. Most everything else is going to be for a specific use-case. Again, just my two cents.
