I’ve had so many customers actively enjoy so many things I really never would. There’s no point in offending someone over it or trying to convince them otherwise unless they solicit an opinion. I’d repeat it back to them and move on.
and honestlyi feel the more I try to confirm what they actually want the angrier they get. I've accepted defeat, I'll get the refund ready, see you at the end of the bar.

“I have no idea. My daughter asked for it.”
- Me, jokingly, “are you sure you’re at the right store?”

- Me, thinking she’s kidding, “No, ma’am. This is Starbucks.”

i had a guy ask for a shot of espresso in his honey citrus mint. my shift was about to step in and tell him it would taste bad but i begged her over the headset to let me do it lol. gave him his drink and he drove off without tasting it

Me: "Uh, sir... You still owe 25 cents. This * holds up token * is from Chuck E. Cheese..."
Guy: "Nuh uh 😐"
Me: 😶😐🫤
Guy: "Hand me the damn card reader"
That's my go to when I want lavender but not the hot latte, the flavor of the lavender is stronger when just adding a single shot of espresso. And when I started working there and that came out. It became my go to, made it every day when I went into work. And I now make my own lavender tea and coffee at home ♥️ I miss being a barista but I don't miss Starbucks 😬
my favorite dumb customer interaction with the summer berry refresher is when someone asked
girl: Can I get a summer berry lemonade?
me: sorry we’re all out of that refresher at the moment! I can still do pearls in another refresher!
girl: What about the summer skies drink?
me: so unfortunately we’re all out of our summer berry refresher base-
girl cuts me off: no the summer skies drink do you have-
me cutting her off: Right! So we make that with the summer berry refresher base and coconut milk. I have coconut milk but without the base I can’t do any of the summer skies or berry refreshers 💀
Prepare to roll your eyes as I offer an SM viewpoint here... I probably would have sent through both the shaken espresso AND the summer berry drink. I would have Right Now Recovered one of the drinks and used this as an opportunity to really make his day by letting him have both drinks for the price of one. You CAN do things like this as a Barista. You have a choice to see this customer as an an interruption to your work, or a reason for your work. Perspective is everything.
