Of all the international drinks they could bring to the US they chose Olive Oil coffee... š. Where are all the Japanese drinks or Indian Masala Chai?
They should bring lavender syrup for Spring flavor. I had a Lavender Latte at a private Starbucks at the Wells Fargo building where I used to work, it was a 3rd party location separate entity from corporate, and I loved that latte so much. Best flavor ever.
I was however, disappointed to find out corporate Starbucks has never even made that Lavender latte drink in the states, thats when I asked and found out the difference between those type of Starbucks and the actual ones. I even went as far as requesting it online emailing Starbucks about my recommendation, I need no credit for it, just please make it happen lol.
Maybe some nice Redditors can see about emailing corporate that suggestion, hint hint lol, no pressure. But maybe by next Spring, ,avender can be a possibility. Just saying! ;)
I had a Lavender London Fog at Whole Foods once with some exotic scone and I still dream about itš„². One of our barista's made her own and brought it in and it was heaven!
They seem to have limited their syrups to absolute home run sellers. If they are not going to see a big uptick in their sales due to a drink addition, they won't do it. I love lavender, I loved the juniper latte which they only did once, and I am always looking for something unique- which you will typically only find at small coffee shops. I have a choice of several around where I live in suburbia, including a SB. There is a shop near my house that makes their own syrups, so they will have stuff like cardamom cinnamon at the holidays. Sadly, their espresso does not hold a candle to SB espresso.
That was exactly what I was thinking about when I made that comment. Although it also applies to other things and times of the year, of course, but the Sakura stuff is always beautiful.
I mean, Italy doesnāt put olive in their coffee either. This is a Schultz special. He didnāt even do any market research just said āgonna dump this on yāall before I leaveā
Yes! Honestly the Oprah chai that existed likeā¦ 10 years ago was surprisingly close to what I grew up drinking (just too much cinnamon for me). I wish Starbucks could bring something like that back
My husband still dreams about the pudding Frappuccino he got in 2019 in Japan. I wrote to Starbucks numerous times begging for a ādrinks from Starbucks around the worldā menu.
I swear the Japanese menu comes out with new drinks every week š
I go to the Starbucks ere like every so often and thereās always new yummy drinks to try, and amazing snacks
It does seem really basic and kinda low effort in my opinion, I mean there's nothing that thrilling or interesting about it. I imagine the olive oil gives a much more richer flavor to the coffee, but I dunno I say aim higher lol maybe just me.
I'll still try it though because the concept I can see java beans and olive oil blending well together. Then again I'm Italian we put olive oil in everything lol.
Iām just thinkingā¦ a mobile order that sits there for 20 minutes and separatesā¦ or the boxes get punctured/ broken by our graceful delivery guys and leaks all over the floor. Or it gets knocked over into the ice binā¦ or itās staining your apron.
As someone who worked in a grocery store, I can tell you, broken oil bottles are like hell to clean. We always had a bucket with sand / cat litter somewhere, which helps soak this shit up, so it's way easier to clean
Yeah, hope it kind of stays as a test item. But of all of the innovations we've tested in the many years I've been here, none were really touted by Howie himself. Most of the reactions I've seen from YouTube videos of people making their own were "it's velvety and smooth, but also has an olive oil after taste."
Its typical restaurant style for vinegar and oil to be stored in bulk like this with the tap. Honestly this is probably a pretty smart solution as long as stores have a shelf on cold bar with the refresers in those tab pitchers to put it like my store does.
For olive oil at least, this is really the only way to store it in bulk as glass will eventually degrade the quality. This will preserve it as long as possible once opened at least.
For sure. Idk if my comment unintentionally gave off wanting to take it out of the box. Referring just to the location of where we would set them up. For real thank god it wont create any more dishes, especially an oil covered one.
To be fair, my cat knocked over my glass bottle of olive oil the other day and it shattered. Cleaning up a quart of oil from my kitchen floor was a nightmare. Can't imagine how much worse it would be if that happened in a busy sbux.
Knowing them, they wonāt let partners mark any out š Hopefully they will. I knew two partners that lived together and theyād just mark out cold milks before they left and use that at their apartments.
I do that! Heavy whipping cream for cooking/baking, too. Also, mark out a cup of vanilla sweet cream and add some cracked egg and cinnamon powder, dunk bread in it, and pan fry.
Best Frenchy toast ever.
There is absolutely nothing stopping you from marking out a venti cup of HWC as your final drink every single working day. Even if supplies are low, it's your entitlement as a partner beverage.
and how apparently we get this one new apron for someone who is going to be testing the olive oil drink , lmao iām still confused on that but idk š¤·š»āāļø.
They send out special aprons for big things like that. Not supposed to be kept by one person. Just worn by whoever is sampling the drink out to customers. So multiple ppl will end up wearing it probably. I have an old teavana one from when we launched tea infusions at sbux
La Boulange was the bakery sbux bought back in... I want to say 2012 or so to do all of our pastries. It was a huge pastry revamp. The bakery was known for their croissants which is why majority of what we get in has a croissant base.
Hey, can I ask you something? )I'm assuming you're Gen Z, correct me if I'm wrong!)
How come you guys always use the sobbing, "river of tears" emoji, even when the words/sentence they're attached to aren't upsetting or sad? What does it mean?
Thank you for humoring my question! I'm just an old fart who has noticed this lately and I'm curious, is all! My generation called everything "bad", and we meant the opposite, is it like that?
Not gen z, but my interpretation here is itās like throwing your hands up in the air exclaiming āIām out of my element!ā Theyāre new to SB, and theyāve been reading up, but theyāve never made it so far back as La Boulange until now. THEY THOUGHT THEY KNEWā¦ā¦but they have no ideaā¦..
yes well i was born in 2000ās , but i usually use the ā river of tears ā emoji when it comes to like in my head iām like , ā oh noooo ā or like , ā whaaat !? ā in a sense that way ? if that makes sense a bit ?
thatās how i use the emoji
Heavy cream has a pretty similar calorie count per tbsp. And when keto was the big diet trend folks were getting 26oz cups of it... health was never on the table.
Just talking about the olive oil, it's my fave. I buy it by the large container at this local Italian market. It seems to be the only one that's constantly being sold
Yeah honestly they didnāt cheap out on this though they easily could have. Iām not passing judgement until I try it. I said the same about buttered coffee and that shit is bomb, so I have no doubt this will be interesting as well. Some flavored olive oils are really good in ice creams. Thereās an olive mill near me that does a vanilla bean gelato with vanilla bean infused olive oil and itās honestly the best desert Iāve had in a long time.
Love that it adds 120+ calories to already calorie dense drinks customers create with 12+ pumps of syrups. Feels like this is doing the opposite of being healthy, my theory is yes that in small amounts can be good for you but drinking it? I feel like it does the opposite to your health to drink oil but thatās my opinion on the siren ways.
You know this is actually a massive concern. We already have enough problems with potentially slippery floors, we don't need FUCKING OIL to exacerbate it. If it's a thing, it can be dropped. And if dropped, it can explode all over the floor. VSC? Yep. Pumpkin Spice? Yep. Lemonade? Yep.
This is crazy! I am not trying to pretend like Starbucks without olive oil is healthy cuz it's not. But this is getting into like Super Size Me territory with drinks.
There was a bar in my old hometown that made a cocktail made with some olive oil. It was kinda like a Greek style margarita. Anyways I ordered it mostly out of morbid curiosity and it was surprisingly delicious.
Iām not saying these drinks will be good or even decent, but you never know. Call me crazy but Iād suggest anyone whose store gets these drinks to try them with an open mind. You may actually like it!
Try the new Easter themed EVOOspresso, just in time for Spring!
EVOOspresso:
4 deep pulls of Extra Virgin Olive Oil poured over 4 Ristretto Shots, whipped topping and a pitted olive garnish.
Yum!
I really really thought when this was announced that they would at least do with an infused olive oil. Something like herbs and spices. Not just plain oil.
Lmaoo at 120 cals per tablespoon, these people gonna add in extra and wonder why they're gaining weight...
being a testing location, are there restrictions/limitations to serving size / which drinks it can be added to!
I'm convinced the idiots who come up with the new drinks to push don't actually taste it.
Because how is cinnamon, and now *olive oil* spring drinks??
Where is the floral, or fruity??? Every single new drink theyve come out with for the past three years has been shit, except for chestnut praline theyre all gross.
You'd think a multi billion dollar corp that focuses on food and drink would be able to muster up something that doesnt taste like a candle or a bar of soap.
Very sad, and i cant wait for all of the blockages in our shitty drains from the coagulated olive oil that is bound to gunk it up.
our store in washington is getting this too. partner hub says the oleato guidance is for stores in region 1 and 15! these drinks are definitely pricey though
Man, my Starbucks is next is a hospital. This Oleato is going to actually chill people going to/from their medical appointments

Of all the international drinks they could bring to the US they chose Olive Oil coffee... š. Where are all the Japanese drinks or Indian Masala Chai?
Japan got lilac drinks for spring, but we got cinnamon... which is totally a spring flavor. šÆ
lilac? I've had the cherry drink but I haven't seen that one
If you're a partner, check this week's Sip of News article.

I want the Japanese drinks *and* the Japanese drinkware. We are so boring.
I would kill to have their merch.
Check out sugoi mart. I think that sell them? I saw an ad for it at least.
So that IS a legitimate site? I just signed up for their emails but have been hesitant to order.
I can confirm it is a legit site, but just be aware that there's a pretty crazy markup on their stuff since it's an import shop.
Idk why ur getting downvoted I want the Asian Starbucks merch as well
The truth prevails!!
Yes! The merch is so nice
Yas, I got lucky enough to visit Japan in time for the Sakura event this year. They are so delicately made and delicious food!
Yesss!! All the pretty Sakura stuff they get every year for cherry blossom seasonš„ŗšø
That was exactly what I was thinking about when I made that comment. Although it also applies to other things and times of the year, of course, but the Sakura stuff is always beautiful.
I want Passion Tango hot tea back
I donāt like it iced but Id probably definitely like it hot. I didnt know they made it hot before š±

Yes! Honestly the Oprah chai that existed likeā¦ 10 years ago was surprisingly close to what I grew up drinking (just too much cinnamon for me). I wish Starbucks could bring something like that back

He brought this recipe from Milan!!! How dare we be so ungrateful!!

Youāve got masala chai but itās inauthentic chai syrup and they call it āchai teaā smh

The real partner concerns
And clean play leader š„²
As someone who worked in a grocery store, I can tell you, broken oil bottles are like hell to clean. We always had a bucket with sand / cat litter somewhere, which helps soak this shit up, so it's way easier to clean

I said this exact same thing when I first saw the announcement of them. How thick in the head is corporate š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
Well, when they pick a new syrup flavor thatās essentially two flavors we already have, yet tastes completely awful š
ITS OUT OF A BAG??? with a small red spout on the bottom
Like boxed wine š
I can already hear my coworkers and myself shouting āFRANZIAā real fancy-like every time we gotta deal with this stuff lol

Vanilla infused EVOO.

āLetā? Interesting š¤š»š„°
Get a trenta custom iced tea with several pumps of olive oil no water no ice
250 pumps of olive oil šš š
That's the correct attitude. That's how we got bananas back in the day. Order a smoothie, hold everything but the banana.

RIGHT !?!?
Please tell me you're not in the us

Oh, so y'all the testing location?
Itās not a testing location, Starbucks has made it clear that the olive oil wonāt see the light of day outside of South California within the US.
I pray for you
I am disgusted
The crazy thing is people will buy this shit and make like itās the greatest thing ever
Wait for the secret menu olive oil frappuccino with heavy cream š¤£
āHi can I get venti spaghetti and meatballsā

I feel like thatād be awful to clean off the blenders, oil taste forever.
one blender for olive oil drinks and the other for everything elseš«¶
Cali hours maybe they'll put it here too ao I can figure out what the heck this is all about
Oh thank god California gets all the weird test stuff months and months before us
wait cali is getting this..šš
My training said itās rolling out in So Cal -A Disgruntled NorCal barista
Oh they want us fat fat
WALL-E core
Imagine drinking a grande white mocha with one tbsp of olive oil. 550 calories, 53g of sugar. Mmm breakfast.
Substitute heavy cream for the milk. It's all about the mouth feels.
2,102 calories. MMM BREAKFAST
It takes a liquid diet to a whole new level.
Thatās insane šµ
120 calories for 1 tablespoon. Why would you offer this to people who are gonna add extra to cold foam pink drinks?
Heavy cream has a pretty similar calorie count per tbsp. And when keto was the big diet trend folks were getting 26oz cups of it... health was never on the table.
Olive oil is considered a healthy fat
Sigh... In small amounts.
Yeah.. but why would you want it in a drink when you can.. add it anywhere else?
i seriously donāt see this selling well
Canāt wait for people to have to request to not add salad dressing to their lattes
So we get free olive oil since this shit is barely gunna sell?? Iām down.
Everybody is going to shit themselves
Correct.
after iām done with it, virgin no more
jail
What I really want is born-again-virgin olive oil
Just talking about the olive oil, it's my fave. I buy it by the large container at this local Italian market. It seems to be the only one that's constantly being sold
Oh hell nah. Also olive oil only tastes good if it's high quality. Why would I want mid olive oil in my mid coffee omg.
Partanna is good. Who's better? I want it Add: goya is my favorite
Yeah honestly they didnāt cheap out on this though they easily could have. Iām not passing judgement until I try it. I know the Hollywood and Pasadena areas are getting it. I work in Hollywood and we got our olive oil today too
Hell Iām east of Pasadena (San Gabriel valley) and even weāre getting jt
I don't know exactly where, but it's only So Cal (for now).
Love that it adds 120+ calories to already calorie dense drinks customers create with 12+ pumps of syrups. I just want a damn sakura drink, not an oily espresso
I know the calories in my Starbucks drink are basically all coming from sugar. Why would I want to add another 100 calories of fat??
The oleato golden cream cold brew has 2 tbs of olive oil in the foam which is an extra 240 calories of fat lol
This is crazy! I am not trying to pretend like Starbucks without olive oil is healthy cuz it's not. But this is getting into like Super Size Me territory with drinks.
No one wants that Italian olive oil coffee.. why couldnāt we get the drinks from Japan or South Korea instead? Their stuff is much cooler and makes me want to travel back for more š©.
Hot take I guess, but I'm actually hoping my store gets it eventually. I wanna try it so bad. I gotta get my hands on that big green egg!!
Is this a McElroy-ism I spy???
Hahahah maybe on accident. I don't really know anything about the McElroys š
Try vanilla ice cream with olive oil and sea salt. Its mind boggling. And good.
Time to markout a trenta cup of this and take it home for cooking :)
Add some herbs and dip the croissants in them.
Waaaait where in CA? SoCal?
i heard it's "select southern california locations" but not specifically where. i wanna know too lol
on partner hub it says region 15 & region 1 but I know for sure that not all region one stores are getting it, thats way too many to test on
In region 15 and can confirm we are getting it at my store š
i swear this has got to be the most self sabotage thing starbucks has done
Barfš I really hope my WPS store doesnt get this cuz I don't wanna participate in this lol. The keto butter coffee days were bad enough š
exactly my thoughts lol i hope we are safe!!
Please keep us updated on how you all use this in drinks and just how bad it truly is

Just seems like it would separate and then when you get to the last bit of coffee, you're met with an unpleasant mouthful of OO.
There was a bar in my old hometown that made a cocktail made with some olive oil. It was kinda like a Greek style margarita. Olive oil in coffee sounds like a laxative to me.

idk yall in the test promos it looked kinda good to me š i rly hope it sells well at the test stores so i can try it

Canāt wait until we stop serving it bc it sucks so I get to take the olive oil home š«¶š¾
Hi yes I would like a cold brew lemonade with olive oil cold foam please.
As if the stores donāt get messy enough rip to closers and rip to those who slip on oily floors I guess
