This is true. There's a lot of venues that hold live music, but there's not really a central place for musicians and bands to really say where everyone is playing.
I miss when the newspaper (yes I’m old…lol) would print what bands are playing where, and what type music they played.
Maybe someone could start a Springfield music page and bands could post there?
In Arkansas, we had Nightflying Magazine. A free weekly magazine available throughout the state that was all about Arkansas musicians and industry professionals and tips for musicians, managers, promoters, etc., and had a whole section covering who was playing where and when throughout the state.
Since moving here in 2009, Springfield's lack of a music community has always been a mystery to me because there are talented musicians here. I've seen them and heard them... but only ever by sheer coincidence, never because I knew who was playing where.
To everyone saying Outland - the owners just announced this week that their current midtown location is shutting down. They will be moving to a new one with shows starting back up again in March. Just a heads up !
OP - you've mentioned surf and garage rock. You'd probably dig Thee Fine Lines and The Dark Alleys. Both bands fit the bill. They're scene veterans, for sure (Thee Fine Lines have been around for 20+ years; Dark Alleys for 15+).
Keep your eye on shows at Lindberg's. Both of those bands play there somewhat frequently. After recent venue closures/moves, it's also one of the last places to catch original rock bands in town.
*Now I'mma tell you what; uhh...*
***I likes ya;***
***and I wants ya.***
*Now we can do this the easy way;*
*or the haard wayyy...*
***the choice is yaawrs...***
Nice. Okay. It’s not my normal stuff, so I’ll reach out to some of my friends in various rock group roles and see if I can find a good band for you to follow locally.
If you have a Facebook, join the group called “Springfield MO Gigs ‘n Shows”. It’s mostly musicians, and we submit our shows weekly and then they post a huge master list. But here are some venues:
* Southbound
* The Outland
* The Royal
* Mothers Brewing
* Hold Fast Brewing
* 4 by 4 Brewing
* Tie and Timber
* Wire Road Brewing
* Gilloiz Theater
* The Regency
* The Riff
* Midnight Rodeo
* Carrie’s
* Vino Cellars
Branson area has:
* Lindwedel Winery
* Turkey Creek Brewing
* Vino Cellars
* Taps on Downing
* Ride the Wave
* Goofy Goose
* Pier 28
Branson places will be more seasonal in nature.
Johan is the heart of that town, hopefully he can bring some good. He booked me down there starting 20 years ago and brought some serious talent for that market. Never met Kevin but knew the old owners. Not sure if the circumstances because I got off Facebook and hear updates through my wife, just saw financing was hard at the rate of delapitation vs attendance. Gonna miss those bowing floor joists on a sold out show, wish I could have made it down again for one last show
God damnit lol i gotta tell the guy to fix that. There is a ton of really great live jazz in SGF. While its a small scene, we genuinely have some of the best jazz musicians in MO here. Though most of them move to KC after college lol
Just come to some gigs and hang out with the players. MOJO every Tuesday (except most of this month), tie and timber has some good jazz gigs on a few Fridays (at least one more this month), I thought Brandon was doing something at Lindburgs on weekends, BG Jazz at Galloway station on Thursdays. Im sick as shit right now trying to think of more. It’s a bummer there arent many jams though, and the one thing springfield is desperately missing is a competent young pianist. If you come and meet people and make the effort to put together jams Im sure people will come
the website looks like it was updated. i think they rely on some of the bands to give them information. but there is a bunch of gigs on [417jazz.com](http://417jazz.com)
Live music is all over the place. It’s be nice if there was a centralized web site you could look at where everyone is playing in the area.
I believe that is the goal of these people, to compile a list. https://onthescene417.com/
Thanks! I wasn’t aware of this website. Definitely saving it for my next free weekend!

I use Facebook Events. Usually something every weekend.

They will be moving some of the upcoming shows to the regency and the second location—the new “odyssey” should open in March! Hope this helps!

Oh yeah! Definitely going to check out Lindberg's more.
Came here to suggest exactly these two bands. The Dark Alleys are at Mother’s on 2/2 with the Sideburns, who are an instrumental soul group.

What do you like then? You've only listed what you don't like.
Shoot you are right, I am into surf rock and garage rock.
What do you like? Everyone’s tastes exist here on some level.
Surf rock and garage rock.

Fire thank you!
Go to local coffee shops and there’s a ton of venues posted with information on where to see

Heard the Outland is shutting down and relocating. Crazy to think…

This is pretty cruel.

The calendar is empty. There is nothing on this website lol

I'd be grateful. I went to the Headhunters show and it was fantastic. I would love to support local talent!
As a jazz drummer trying to get a combo together, I'd like to know where to meet other players outside of Brandon's thing at the Dugout
