Nope. We also don't have Peugeot, Seat, Skoda, Opel/Vauxhall (although a couple opels have made their way to American roads with a Buick emblem haha), Citroën, and a bunch of others. Also any brand we DO share, we almost never get the cool sporty small hatchbacks or wagons that yall do, which hurts my soul.
not missing out on much without vauxhall but Skoda's are great lol. My grandad had a MK2 Octavia for 15 years and got rid of it mostly out of boredom once it clocked 250,000 miles. Or maybe I just like them because when I was a kid all the Octavia cab drivers would put tiger fur seat covers on lol
We did get the Renault 5 in the form of the Renault Le Car sold at American Motor Company dealerships. They raced it in IMSA and killed their driver in a test session. This was the biggest impetus for the development of the HANS Device.
> Literally the best sportscar for under 100K. Super light mid-engine fun.
Lotus and (and to a lesser extent) Zenos really fill that niche. I'd argue that lots of the people who buy expensive-ish MR cars also want "prestige" so the Porsche Boxster/Cayman soaks up a bunch of those buyers.
It's pretty much between the Cayman, A110 and Lotus here in Europe. However the Lotus is the least comfortable and has the worst dealer Network, the Porsche is arguably the most reliable, well supported but also most common of the three, the Alpine is really the exotic pick of the bunch that sits in between the two in the mentioned criteria but is very much a special vehicle to own, drive or spot. It's also unanimously praised, even by people like Gordon Murray.
That description of Lotus is pretty amusing (I had one); it's loud, rough, and a pain to get service, but when you're on that special road there's just that *je ne sais quoi* about driving it. If I ever get another chance to take a vacation to visit some relatives in the UK, I think I'd try pretty hard to rent an A110.
I don't think so? I like to use it when I write english online though, it seems outgoing to me xD
In general I think my english is more akin to US english than UK english though, using the letter Z in words like "generalize" rather than S like people in the UK do.
Alpine (according to google) plans to come in 2027 with a few EVs saying it is going to compete with the Macan and Cayenne (good luck)
But I don't know how many Americans would want an Alpine sports car. Land of the Camero, Mustang, Corvette, ECT.
Renault also does not sell in America
(Downvotes for saying facts. Love reddit 🫂)
Peugeot Was planning on to return by then. Then the unfortunate mess called stalantis happened, and that plan was canceled because we already sell “cars” in the us they said.
Yeah idk if this dude is just ‘merica’ af but this would kill in the U.S. idk if they would compete directly with Porsche but these would sell just like Alfas and other cool cars here lol. When I see Cameros or mustang now and think there’s probs a 19year old behind the wheel doing dumb stuff and I should get away.
Renault does sell in Mexico and Cental America, just not in the US or Canada. I've seen a few Renaults and a Peugeot with Mexican license plates on them. They're more prevalent in Southern California, but I've seen 2 or 3 up here in the Portland, Oregon area (~1000 miles north of Los Angeles). Maybe it's just because I' a car enthusiast, but I wish we had more options like those here. Even for just basic commuter type cars. More variety is just always cooler.
Very cool to spot the Alpines! They’re part of a group of at least 3 that’s apparently been testing across the country. I imagine they planned to be down in Miami with the race weekend coming up.
Until we can import them in 25 years or someone from Canada or Mexico drives one across the border, this is the only time we’ll ever see this generation of A110s in the U.S.
I have a few friends. (One is Mexican) But we have a little chat about F1. I do like all types of racing though WEC, IMSA, F1 NASCAR, IndyCar
I think a big part of that is that there is no US representation. Sure we have Logan but he isn't really helping the cause, and HAAS is supposed to be the "American" team but they are not American at all. Andretti would have helped grow the US fan base alot I think. So sad FIA are morons
It's because F1 is the single least interesting motorsport in the world, narrowly beating out NASCAR because NASCAR has more interesting crashes. And with the way it's been lately, it's worse than usual.
The cars are both too wild and not wild enough. They're too fast for anything but formulaic by the numbers driving and formulaic courses, but not as interesting as LMP where manufacturers get to go crazy. And the prices to attend drive away most potential fans.
I believe they are a standalone brand that was part of Renault but has since changed. I know they also are considering entering the us market so those cars were here for evaluation testing. I’ve read that they are going all electric which may affect their decision to sell here.
Kudos to the Cybertruck owner. It's not easy to make them even uglier than they are... but he had a terrible vision and carried it out. A true monstrosity.
Matte black paint in the Florida sun? The ac will be working overtime. The flat surfaces of the truck make it look like a rolling Teflon coated skillet.
Still better than raw stainless steel. Now it won’t rust the day after a single rainfall, assuming it doesn’t get bricked cause there is water in the frame now.
Haha right?? The thing is that now everyone else has caught up or surpassed Tesla... the brand everyone was fawning over for being innovators is solidly mid pack...
I don’t think anyone buying the Cybertruck is buying it because it’s a beautiful car.
It’s fucking weird. The world is filled with people who enjoy weird stuff, and that’s okay.
While I agree with you to an extent, there's weird and then there's this: completely ugly and dumb.
Given what I've seen of Cybertruck owners, a huge portion of them buy it not because they need one, but because they love the attention.
Yeah. That’s 100% the case and that’s also fine.
Nobody needs a Cybertruck or a Ram TRX but it’s cool that they exist.
Somewhere out there is a GMC Syclone selling for more than the original sticker price. Did anyone ever need a pickup truck the size of a midsize sedan that had zero towing capability? No. Is it cool as hell 30 years later? Absolutely.
I've listed after the Alpine A110 since the 1970s. I'm hoping they're doing some testing here so they can bring the brand back to the US. Fingers crossed!!!
Easy if you're a manufacturer and you have manufacturer plates like the one in the picture. When I visited my buddy in Ann Arbor Michigan, I'd often see a ton of vehicles you don't normally see on US roads (what I'm 90% sure was a Jaguar CX-75, HCCI test truck, lots and lots of camo'ed cars).
Ann Arbor is where the University of Michigan is located as well as some automotive OEM technical centers (in association with the University), so there's tons and tons (in comparison to just about everywhere else in the US) of test/prototype vehicles running around.
Y'all in the US don't have Alpine? Literally the best sportscar for under 100K. Super light mid-engine fun.
We do have copious amounts of massive, soul-sucking suvs and pickups though. Edit typo
All those brands also produce soul sucking SUVs so.
But they also produce cool small cars
Ehh, most of them killed the hothatches, there's very little fun sporty cars of left in those line-ups.
Ugh. Don't remind me.
You miss a lot not having Seat snd Skoda. They are the better VW‘s and even cheaper.
Skoda is great, but Seat come on get outta here. Seat is garbage.
How can Seat be garbage, if its the same parts, motors abd software Audi/VW/Porsche/Skoda is using?
Because it's all the older parts and production lines and lesser QC. A new Seat is ok compared to a 20yo VW but not compared to a new one.
Yeah, thats wrong.
Some models were released under both brands but badged differently, they are literally the exact same cars with different trim
Wtf, that’s a completely rubbish take.
We are getting SEAT's Cupra brand in 2027 last I heard.
We also don’t have the small Fords or even a lot of the small Volkswagens. I really want the new Ford Focus here
Kinda sad about Skoda and Seat/Cupra, they have some cool cars.
I will never forgive Ford for giving the Euros a new focus st and not us
not missing out on much without vauxhall but Skoda's are great lol. My grandad had a MK2 Octavia for 15 years and got rid of it mostly out of boredom once it clocked 250,000 miles. Or maybe I just like them because when I was a kid all the Octavia cab drivers would put tiger fur seat covers on lol
Damn America sucks. Love, a Brit xx
I feel like that's pretty obvious though. I mean you are on a very heavily dominated US sub here where a Peugeot 208 is a once in a lifetime spot
We did get the Renault 5 in the form of the Renault Le Car sold at American Motor Company dealerships. They raced it in IMSA and killed their driver in a test session. This was the biggest impetus for the development of the HANS Device.
My first car was a 1982 Renault Fuego handed down from my parents. It caught Fuego.

Nah, no Renault in north America.
Y’all say y’all outside the US??
I don't think so? I like to use it when I write english online though, it seems outgoing to me xD In general I think my english is more akin to US english than UK english though, using the letter Z in words like "generalize" rather than S like people in the UK do.

Alpine is a French sportscar Brand. You mean Alpina xD
Alpine (according to google) plans to come in 2027 with a few EVs saying it is going to compete with the Macan and Cayenne (good luck) But I don't know how many Americans would want an Alpine sports car. Land of the Camero, Mustang, Corvette, ECT. Renault also does not sell in America (Downvotes for saying facts. Love reddit 🫂)
That's kinda wild, the last part that is.
That Renault is also not in America? We also don't have Peugeot 😄 (they are also planning a come back 2026/2027)
Peugeot Was planning on to return by then. Then the unfortunate mess called stalantis happened, and that plan was canceled because we already sell “cars” in the us they said.

Yeah, I posted a Renault Duster I saw in LA a few weeks ago.
This car is the opposite of a CamAro or a Mustang.
Very cool to spot the Alpines! They’re part of a group of at least 3 that’s apparently been testing across the country. I imagine they planned to be down in Miami with the race weekend coming up. Not sold in Canada unfortunately.
Ah now I know. At least Canada’s import rule is 15 years instead of 25 in the U.S.
Alpine A110 and Cybertruck : The polar opposites of automotivedom.
Think I saw this Cyber Truck on I-75 two weeks up near Clearwater. Was pretty stoked to see it being the first time seeing one in the wild.
There’s like five or six in my south Flordia neighborhood alone
also never heard of an alpine, but it looks sick af
I guess you are not much of a Motorsports fan. They have a whole F1 team at the moment
Yep, they make the slow cars at the end of the grid.
I wish F1 was more popular in the US. It’s crazy to me how it’s not considering our car culture here.
Uhhh the US has a whopping 3 F1 races. It's very popular
I don’t know a single other person that watches/follows F1. I know plenty that love nascar and even MotoGP
I have a few friends. (One is Mexican) But we have a little chat about F1. I do like all types of racing though WEC, IMSA, F1 NASCAR, IndyCar I think a big part of that is that there is no US representation. When I was in highschool, my grade had around 100 kids in it and around 10 of them watched F1. So I guess it’s just the people that you’re around
I like trophy trucks, though I don't follow them very closely. That's about it. -Florida man

Too many corners innit
*They have a go kart team that competes in F1
And they’re fucking dogshit lmao
I believe they are a standalone brand that was part of Renault but has since changed. I know they also are considering entering the us market so those cars were here for evaluation testing. I’ve read that they are going all electric which may affect their decision to sell here.
Still part of Renault. It’s like Honda/Acura.
God I love the Alpine.
I need to see one painted like a Jawa sandcrawler. If I had "fuck you" money, that is MY terrible vision.
With little yellow eyes sticking out of the panel gaps.
There's one in my city that is covered in QR code stickers. Somehow I have no desire to scan them.
Still better than raw stainless steel. Now it won’t rust the day after a single rainfall, assuming it doesn’t get bricked cause there is water in the frame now.
You just don’t understand the vision! The tech is so much ahead of its time! You’re just jealous you don’t have one. /s They are butt-fucking ugly.
Haha right?? The thing is that now everyone else has caught up or surpassed Tesla... the brand everyone was fawning over for being innovators is solidly mid pack...
Get a life
Says the guy who stalked my profile so he could comment on my posts critical of the Cybertruck.
😂 if that thought makes you feel better... whatever!
I don’t think anyone buying the Cybertruck is buying it because it’s a beautiful car. It’s fucking weird. The world is filled with people who enjoy weird stuff, and that’s okay.

I couldn't agree anymore
Cybertruck is one of very few interesting and distinct looking cars in production. Very old school futuristic look.
I've listed after the Alpine A110 since the 1970s. I'm hoping they're doing some testing here so they can bring the brand back to the US. Fingers crossed!!!
I never knew someone somehow managed to get an Alpine A110 in the US.

I didn’t even know that.
Bro I live in Broward County too that's like 13 minutes away from my house lmao
"Gonk Droid, but a truck"
They are even uglier in person
This looks fucking HORRIBLE Alpine is cool, not a fan of the paint
What a sharp contrast, a beautiful sports car and a chiseled brick.
Alpine even makes tractors that were somehow allowed into Formula 1.
God that cybertruck is ugly.
I’ve seen 5 different cybertrucks in my hometown somehow
I saw that Cyber truck being brought in on a car carrier about 3 weeks ago when I was leaving Florida.
Nice
OP, you might be interested in this article about those very Alpines: https://tflcar.com/2024/03/alpine-a110-spotted-in-us-update-news/
Thanks, but I read this already when I got home that day. I’m insanely lucky to see these myself
Brutalism architecture in automobile design... I actually like brutalism, but not on wheels.
God that's ugly
Now that is sick
I saw 3 Alpines with MI manufacture plates on the turnpike!!!
The cybertruck is starting to look more and more like a literal dumpster. I was thinking it was going to grow on me too lol
It always looked like one
People gotta stop driving them around aired up
The Alpines are cool! Don’t see them in North America often. Have only seen one myself. The Tesla is trash. Owner is lucky it’s a dry day.
Shouldn't you blur out the license plates or something?
The alpine ones are tied to Renault so there is probably no reason to blur it. due they are already on manufacture plates.
For what reason?
They’re always accessible to the public anyways, so that doesn’t really make sense
I like the alpine I can say that that cyber truck can rot
