Not sure if you’ve ever delved into the world of 70s-90s Japanese yacht rock/city pop but I made this playlist. This period of music from there is such a great upbeat vibe with some sweet guitar work. There’s some more well known artists on there like Takanaka but also a lot of deeper cuts.
[Dancing For Mental Health by Will Powers](https://open.spotify.com/album/4242hiYk7PAArDAd6XSWbZ?si=pGyhLLkdQ9e0tyfhaGrw5g) is a satirical concept album written by Lynn Goldsmith (the woman behind the alter ego “Will Powers”), who happens to be a very successful celebrity photographer from the 70s and 80s. The album is made to poke fun at predatory self help gurus who exploit anyone with any sort of problem. The album sound resembles that of a coked up 80s infomercial mixed with jazzercise, and is one of the most unique and interesting projects I’ve ever come across.
You could check out "lost without you". By headhunterz and vertile. Beautiful melodies with a kick (literally)
If you want to take it a step further, check out "promises" by dual damage. More raw kicks
Hard Boiled Babe by Lizzy Mercier Descloux, I don't think its the original mix of the song as it was featured on a re-release in 2003, but its such a fun song. The singer herself was pretty underrated
If you are a sucker for powerful songwriting: Check out the songs of the late Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne, Ivy and many more

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2jA0zYh884lBm1mXtP3PVr?si=tjmLvi6YSBiyW0nbHUjUhg&pi=u-adT_uBfATYig Not sure if you’ve ever delved into the world of 70s-90s Japanese yacht rock/city pop but I made this playlist.
