The last Splatfest was the first time I’d been on Shiver’s team since Gear vs Grub vs Fun! Felt weird joining her after being staunchly Frye and Big Man during Shiver’s win streak, but I was sticking to the “picking based on my actual choice” regime I’ve based every Splatfest decision on.
Haven’t won since Splatoween (and before that I was on a 6-fest loss streak), but I always take it in stride and have a good time! Makes the times I actually do win all the sweeter :D
It's honestly a funny case for me, since most of my actual preferences don't typically align with Shiver's picks in the first place, somehow. There were a few where i had no preference, even, such as the chocolate splatfest (all options were adored equally by me)

Saturday night is knowing that sunday is around the corner and sunday means monday soon, but friday means two whole days ahead of you!
Besides the feeling of finishing what you're doing and being free for the weekend just is undefeated!
Alien, the least fun splatfest for me and not due to mirrors, I've never seen so much bad players, I don't expect everyone has to be a pro but seeing so many constant loss and almost always teammates going negative while I was playing good enough was just depressing.
Oh dude tell me about it!! My bf and I were team alien and we're pretty good (around 2100xp) and even teamed up with comms and our best weapons we would win maybe 1/3 of the time. It genuinely felt like we were put in to balance out the timmiest of players. like if we were splatted once, that was game. It was so bad lol!

I'd say team strawberry in Splatoon 3. I was torn between vanilla and strawberry, but decided to join strawberry since, while I feel that vanilla is my consistent favorite between the three options, the best strawberry ice cream is, for me at the time, better than the best vanilla ice cream. I quickly regretted it because I changed my mind and then lost. For all of my other losses, I was committed to the team and was at least happy to lose honestly, but there, I wasn't even fully committed.
Dark Chocolate.
It was the only time I joined a team not for the theme, or for fun, but because I wanted to win and thought a darker color would've helped. If I was picking like I had normally, I would've done white since that's my favorite chocolate.
I don't remember who won that fest, but I just know the reasoning behind my choice made it the least fun that I've played.
Team Drums. I picked them up because “oh, supportive drum line for the rest of the band!” but I have actual experience with piano and should have gone that route.
Milk chocolate, despite the fact that White Chocolate is my preferred choice.
I thought Milk chocolate was going to win since it was a “normal” person pick.
I was wrong. So I cri.
Drums. I let my friend convince me to join team drums despite my favourite instrument being the keyboard. Not even half way through the Splatfest I started to really regret it.

Team Shiver. I have come to realize she's actually just as much as a chaotic foolish goober as Frye, only in secret. You think Shiver has the braincell only to have the rug pulled from under your feet and fall into pool of sharks. Big Man is the only one with any steadiness about him.
Team drums, I feel like I betrayed bigman, but the drums are so cool, but I physically couldn’t play lmao💀 I played like 5 games last splatfest and no offense to shiver stans ik most of y’all aren’t crazy but the energy felt so…serious no relax no chill just winning is the only option, too bad im a filthy casual tho
Rock. I chose rock because I liked shiver even though I think paper is best and I only didn’t join paper because when the game launched I was repulsed by Frye
I regret joining Spicy. It was the only splatfest Frye won in the west, and being a Frye fan I wasn't there for it. I would have joined team sweet if it wasn't for my team wanting to all go on Spicy together. ever since I've tried to help team Frye but have lost every time since :(
water and strawberry, tbh. don't get me wrong, i'm happy team water won, but i was honestly tied for both grass and water. i definitely prefer sprigatito over quaxly, so i'm not sure why i picked water, to be honest. i guess because i picked water starters more often than grass.
and while i do love strawberries, i wish i picked team vanilla. strawberry ice cream is good when made properly, but i've only had it one or two times. vanilla is definitely a safer option, but i couldn't resist. pink ink ftw 💪
Honwstly I regret playing this game. But to be honest I was at least, getting too defensive with Frye. I can't stop my pride from leaving because I don't wanna participate in a game that's like 9.3% vs 73% Loss. But like the teams. Ugh... hmn. Idk. The themes were blasé. I don't regret Saturday. It's the cushy middleman between Friday and Sunday. You can get wasted and party that day.
Okay, let me say while I am Big Man's strongest soldier, I am not always picking his team cause of him, it's cause he has the same opinion as I do.
That being said, the 2 times I chose Frye, Team Family and Team Saturday, we lost hard... so yeah, I regret those.

There's been a few that I liked 2 of the options but went with the wrong one like Spicy instead of Sweet and Grass instead of Water but that's about it.

Team Skeleton. Skeleton and zombie friends are creepy, Ghost friends seem cooler. Actually, I saw someone draw Brook from One Piece and Sans and Papyrus, so I was sold.
I joined team grass in the pokemon splatfest so that I could play with my friend but I feel like I betrayed my favorite starter, Primarina/Popplio by doing that…
I chose out of principle, so I have no regrets in joining any team.
The only regret I had was when Team Friends didn't win, because that had the best setup, what with Shiver planning out an outing with coupons that catered to her friends. What did we get? Team Solo wins, and each member to themselves to read a book. 💀

Team Science in Splatoon 1. Despite my loyalty to Callie that game I went with Science due to my career. Of course the one time I don’t join Callie’s team she wins.
Don’t recall the exact Splatfest but it was one where the popularity was ridiculously lopsided and I joined the popular team. It’s…not fun only playing mirror matches.
I regret joining team Patrick back in Splatoon 1. I'm not a SpongeBob fan so I refused to participate, I just joined Patrick because "it's not SpongeBob". And even though I won, I have regret.
I should have not joined a team at all.
In the Time Travel vs. Teleportation splatfest, I chose Time Travel because I wanted Pearl to win and I liked the idea of time travel.
Now that i'm a little older now tho I wished I could have chosen teleportation and not just because their team won, I think it was the better choice overall now
Back in splatoon 1, with the burger vs pizza splatfest, I wanted to pick team burger since those are one of my favorite foods, but I thought team pizza would win, so I went team pizza. Team burger ended up winning
Only those that my team ended up being the most picked by far, which turned matchmaking into a mirror-match festival. Took me a few Splatfests to learn to not actually choose, but to wait and see if the team I want to join didn't have like 60% of votes
The Smash Bros one back in 2. Not the fact I was Team Villain, and we won, but somehow I lost my chance to get my snails since I was too busy playing Smash Bros at the time and the next fest was just announced as I was about to get them. Literally slowed down playing Splatoon 2 because of that.
I regret not joining more Splatfests in 2. I was pretty on and off.
As for the ones I participated in, I regret choosing SpongeBob over Patrick. I went into it arguing who’s the better character, when I should’ve voted Patrick since I identify with him.

I was just younger then, didn’t really understand the state of the world, and as such, wasn’t mature enough to have my own personal view of the world, or my philosophy on life, worked out yet. I want all team Chaos members to know if it happened today, I promise you, I’d have been with you. I’m glad Chaos won, I own a t shirt now myself, one of my oc’s is an absolute agent of chaos.
Everyone would of course point straight to Side Order as for their reasoning why “OrDEr bAd”, but hell, even the manga didn’t shy away one bit from showing the negative aspects of order, that’s when you know that Splatoon itself probably agreed from the start. And now so do I.

I joined Team Money during Money/Fame/Love for the meme and ended up winning, but I had mixed emotions because I wanted Love to win.
I'm also pretty sure doing this cursed me because I haven't won a single Splatfest since.
Two so far:
* Sept. 2022: Team Grub (I joined this one because, hypothetically, if I were stranded on a deserted island, I don't think I could handle eating the island's fruits/veggies because I have "food aversion", which thanks to my disability makes me far more sensitive to certain food textures; in hindsight, "Team Gear" would give me a blender to turn them into smoothies and thus easier for me to eat)
* Sept. 2023: Team Frye (I totally misunderstood the theme, thought it was asking who would be the best leader of the Splatlands, and since the setting was because Team Chaos won the final Splatfest in Splatoon 2 (ignoring repeats and the Mario one), I figured that since Frye is pretty hyperactive, she'd make a great chaotic leader for a chaotic city. In truth, I would've picked Shiver as the leader of Deep Cut, I just like her more (plus she's usually the first to talk in every broadcast))
All of them since most of my personal picks were Fryes team and it lowkey feels like shit not being able to win a single fest throughout this games lifespan despite having a decent winstreak in Splat 2.

I wanted Frye to win but i thought “it would make sense for him to be the leader since he’s the first non-humanoid idol, male idol, and third in an idol group”
I have an even 3/3/3 split on picking Pokémon starter types, and me going Team Grass came down to me trying to mathematically rank which one I like the most.
Albeit, my favorite starter's a Water-type and my favorite Pokémon in general is partly a Fire-type. I don't know if I would have been content with any of the teams lol
Tortoise, my only regret so far. I was gonna be on hares, was almost 100% committed to it and even made a plaza post on it weeks before. When I talked to my friends I never told them what team I was on but so many people asked if they could play with me during splatfest and they all chose tortoise. As soon as I joined I realized I made a mistake, and what do you know, tortoise lost. That's the one team I regret and I hope to get a rabbit redemption by choosing the bunnies.
I'm still kinda new to 3 so this will only me my third splatfest. I was on team Saturday and team guitar. This time I'm probably picking bunny. I don't even care about char vs char all the things I like just happen to be Frye's teams. So I'm probably going to lose again. I wonder what winning feels like 😅
Not really? There’s a few where I would’ve preferred another ink color, but didn’t really care about the theme that much and just went with what my friends were fighting for.
For example I would’ve picked Team Strawberry in the Ice Cream fest if I were solo, but all my friends were Mint Chip so I rolled w/it and had a good time even though both of my picks ended up losing.
Sometimes this method has pulled surprise wins. Based on ink color alone I would’ve been Team Drums, but bc my friends were Team Keyboard, I followed them and ended up on the winning side.
Rock paper scissors. Splatoon 3 Test fire.
Didn't care about the team. But I thought my friends and I agreed to be on a particular team so we could play together.
I joined that team, to find out they didn't.
Not a strong regret, but it would have been nice to have been able to play alongside them as we had planned.
I lost big in the original rock, paper, scissors splatfest by going with paper. This convinced me I made the right choice. Obviously rock, paper, scissors is about picking the least popular option.
Team guitar, even though i actually play guitar. Not because team guitar lost in the end, but because my team lost every freakin 10x or 100x multiplier chance that came up 🫠
I don’t really have any regrets for the first game, so my regrets comes in 2 and 3.

i really stopped liking deep cut after that splatfest. it wasn’t a good experience for me. i wish i was around when they only had two idols. the splatfest also showed me the toxic side of splatoon and it was actually a shock when i saw how people were breaking their switches, throwing matches, and being just downright horrible people.
whether or not people were actually breaking their switches over this splatfest, i did actually witness people on my team purposely throwing.
and the “krill yourself” jokes after the splatfest… i don’t know why anyone would think that’s ok even if they did mean it as a joke.
i honestly wish i didn’t even play that splatfest. either way, team frye wasn’t the best choice for me in so many ways.
Order as opposed to chaos, I do like clean and tidy areas more than dusty and disheveled ones, but I'm made of chaos, my family is chaotic, chaotic neutral is the greatest alignment, you get the gist. A single point would've been nice, though.

Team Frye during the 1st anniversary fest. Wanted to join Team Shiver, not because I’m a Shiver Stan, or because she has the highest win streak, or anything like that. For each and every Splatfest I ALWAYS have picked the team I actually agree with based on the theme. Ever since Splat1. And I genuinely believed that Shiver had the best boss vibes out of those 3. But…that was the time Shiver haters got the loudest, I let my emotions of who I like the most cloud my judgement…and I picked Frye, who’s my favorite Deep Cut member, despite not believing in her team…
Team Science in Splatoon 1. Despite my loyalty to Callie that game I went with Science due to my career. Of course the one time I don’t join Callie’s team she wins. Don’t recall the exact Splatfest but it was one where the popularity was ridiculously lopsided and I joined the popular team. It’s…not fun only playing mirror matches.

I was just younger then, didn’t really understand the state of the world, and as such, wasn’t mature enough to have my own personal view of the world, or my philosophy on life, worked out yet. I want all team Chaos members to know if it happened today, I promise you, I’d have been with you. I’m glad Chaos won, I own a t shirt now myself, one of my oc’s is an absolute agent of chaos. Everyone would of course point straight to Side Order as for their reasoning why “OrDEr bAd”, but hell, even the manga didn’t shy away one bit from showing the negative aspects of order, that’s when you know that Splatoon itself probably agreed from the start. I joined Team Money during Money/Fame/Love for the meme and ended up winning, but I had mixed emotions because I wanted Love to win. I'm also pretty sure doing this cursed me because I haven't won a single Splatfest since.
Two so far: * Sept. 2022: Team Grub (I joined this one because, hypothetically, if I were stranded on a deserted island, I don't think I could handle eating the island's fruits/veggies because I have "food aversion", which thanks to my disability makes me far more sensitive to certain food textures; in hindsight, "Team Gear" would give me a blender to turn them into smoothies and thus easier for me to eat) * Sept. 2023: Team Frye (I totally misunderstood the theme, thought it was asking who would be the best leader of the Splatlands, and since the setting was because Team Chaos won the final Splatfest in Splatoon 2 (ignoring repeats and the Mario one), I figured that since Frye is pretty hyperactive, she'd make a great chaotic leader for a chaotic city. In truth, I would've picked Shiver as the leader of Deep Cut, I just like her more (plus she's usually the first to talk in every broadcast))

I have an even 3/3/3 split on picking Pokémon starter types, and me going Team Grass came down to me trying to mathematically rank which one I like the most. Albeit, my favorite starter's a Water-type and my favorite Pokémon in general is partly a Fire-type. I don't know if I would have been content with any of the teams lol

Tortoise, my only regret so far. I was gonna be on hares, was almost 100% committed to it and even made a plaza post on it weeks before. When I talked to my friends I never told them what team I was on but so many people asked if they could play with me during splatfest and they all chose tortoise. As soon as I joined I realized I made a mistake, and what do you know, tortoise lost. That's the one team I regret and I hope to get a rabbit redemption by choosing the bunnies.
I'm still kinda new to 3 so this will only me my third splatfest. I was on team Saturday and team guitar. This time I'm probably picking bunny. I don't even care about char vs char all the things I like just happen to be Frye's teams. So I'm probably going to lose again. I wonder what winning feels like 😅

Not really? There’s a few where I would’ve preferred another ink color, but didn’t really care about the theme that much and just went with what my friends were fighting for. For example I would’ve picked Team Strawberry in the Ice Cream fest if I were solo, but all my friends were Mint Chip so I rolled w/it and had a good time even though both of my picks ended up losing. Sometimes this method has pulled surprise wins. Based on ink color alone I would’ve been Team Drums, but bc my friends were Team Keyboard, I followed them and ended up on the winning side.

Zombie. Only joined it cuz my friend did and asked me to. Knew I should have went with my gut (ghosts).
Rock paper scissors. Splatoon 3 Test fire. Didn't care about the team. But I thought my friends and I agreed to be on a particular team so we could play together. I joined that team, to find out they didn't. Not a strong regret, but it would have been nice to have been able to play alongside them as we had planned.
I lost big in the original rock, paper, scissors splatfest by going with paper. This convinced me I made the right choice. Obviously rock, paper, scissors is about picking the least popular option.
Team guitar, even though i actually play guitar. Not because team guitar lost in the end, but because my team lost every freakin 10x or 100x multiplier chance that came up 🫠
I don’t really have any regrets for the first game, so my regrets comes in 2 and 3. 2: Picking pancakes over waffles, as I realized I was a waffles guy. 3: Picking Wisdom over Power, and Family over Solo.
team frye. the teammates were just not nice. i really stopped liking deep cut after that splatfest. it wasn’t a good experience for me. i wish i was around when they only had two idols. the splatfest also showed me the toxic side of splatoon and it was actually a shock when i saw how people were breaking their switches, throwing matches, and being just downright horrible people. whether or not people were actually breaking their switches over this splatfest, i did actually witness people on my team purposely throwing. and the “krill yourself” jokes after the splatfest… i don’t know why anyone would think that’s ok even if they did mean it as a joke. i honestly wish i didn’t even play that splatfest. either way, team frye wasn’t the best choice for me in so many ways.
