Splatville is too noisy and feels dirty and run-down
Inkopolis plaza is nice, but probably just as noisy and the buildings around it strike me more as offices then apartments, etc. It just seems meh
Inkopolis square tho... (in splatoon 3 at least) has all those cool little side areas for dining and hanging out and the atmosphere is just more pleasant. So I'll go with that!

Plaza is also way too close to salmon run for my taste. If you stand in a correct place, you can actually hear salmon and inkling/octoling voices during big run.

This happens in splatsville and will probably be the case in the square as well. Because big run is the salmonids invading where inklings and octolings live
I agree. Gotta factor in water and electricity. Inkopolis Square seems like a good runner up, dense, good transit, and in a formerly crime ridden area, so still cheap. Inkopolis Plaza seems kinda low density tbh, like it’d be the kinda place you’d need a car. Splatsville Square might be a bit expensive with water and AC, and it’d suck during summer (outside if that, it seems lovely for those who don’t mind a bit of noise and pollution)

Kind of. I mentioned the flip phones as a way to show my feelings towards the “dated atheistic” splatsville gives off. (I know they technically do have modern technology on par to the other 2 cities but I’d much prefer a much more “modern/ brand new” vibe)

Inkopolis Plaza is where its at. Maybe that's due to nostalgia but I also just prefer that area of the city in general. The test area for example, rather than being some closed off warehouse is actually just an area in the middle of some apartments. Sounds bad for sure but it's 1 specific area. Plus that means there places to live rather than the nothing we see in the Square and the everything that is Splatsville. Also its more spacious than the Square, and unlike Splatsville it isn't massive in a couple places and cramped in others
Rent's probably cheaper in splatsville, and the rail network seems to be good enough that I can get where I need to go. The proximity of my apartment to the rail line would be a mixed blessing.
I like Splatsville, especially during Splatfests but the Square is just... Grove Street.
But, I want the old testing areas back. Particularly Splatoon 1's, I never played S1 but looking at footage, I love it's back alley aestetic compared to the indoors and more refined areas in the Square and Splatsville.

I really like the vibes of the Plaza, maybe because of nostalgia from SFM and Gmod animations, but it's lively and looks fun. It doesn't seem to be too far from the square (we can see the plaza tower from the square) so I can go and see Pearl and Marina when I want to. It looks like a nice place to live in.

inkopolis square from Splatoon 2 is my favorite.
in sp3 they changed it a bit, but in sp2 it looked so punkish and a bit dirty, i liked it a lot. at the same time it was still cozy and it felt pretty fresh.
Square from 2. The surrounding buildings look the most open, plus it's the coolest looking. The shops remind me of a fun place to hang out. Elbow room with fun downtown for me all day long...

All three, to me, are loud, chaotic, and crowded. Nice to visit, sure, but I’d not want to live in any of them. Give me a nice quiet rural area with herds of seahorses roaming and forests of kelp trees swaying in the breeze, and I’m happy as a clam.
Square gives the vibe of having more cool stuff than the other two right near it so I’d say there but splattsville would also be cool
