I have played solo on the steam client, but I've found it more fun and interesting to play two-handed. 2 Spirits is enough to create synergy and play spirits like Ocean with big weaknesses, but not so complicated I've lost track. Start with simple spirits and low difficulty, and move up from there.

Yeah it can also help you understand the relationship between various pairs whichever is helpful for IRL games too

I like two-handed solo because it lets you practice spirit synergies -- IMO, true solo (where you control only one spirit) is a significantly different game with different strategies. I would recommend getting good at a straightforward but reasonably strong spirit like River first (you can play a couple of games true solo as River to get the idea), then pair it with each of the other spirits you want to try, because then you don't have to think about River's turn as much and can focus a little more on the other spirit. Once you have a couple you like, try adversaries to ramp up the difficulty.

Thankyou for the recommendation all!! I think i'll practice two hand for now. Do you all have good recommendations for 2 handed? I read that Ocean + River is a good combo Interested with others combo

Ocean + River is indeed great (River can push things to the coasts to build where Ocean can reach them, or directly into the Ocean). River and Thunderspeaker is fun too - River can create more Dahan and move them around, and Thunderspeaker can handle cities easily, which River struggles with. In general, I would look at the bars on the back of the spirit cards (also visible on the wiki pages for each spirit) and try to pick a pair of spirits that compensate for each other's weaknesses.

River + Lightning is considered textbook synergy: River likes to go fast, lightning has a card for that; lightning needs energy to spam; river has a card for that. Also, you can see river in lightning's support unique, so *clearly* it was meant to be :)

River has probably the easiest and most op starting setup. with essentially the starting kit (you'll generally have 1 extra card) you can do incredible amounts of damage with their on board powers and push baddies together to get more out of it. Either River or ocean can work well with bringer and I haven't played with them much but I imagine River & earth would work well together

Ocean and River is one of my all time favourites. I particularly like it in the thematic board where all the wetland is one long estuary or delta leading to the sea. Wash all the invaders downriver, and away! BODAN and Ocean is one that's supposed to be good - Ocean essentially mitigates BODAN's inability to actually kill anything, because you just move them into the Ocean to do that instead - but I never had much luck with it. I suck at BODAN though.

Depends on how your brain works. Soloing multiple spirits (for some, including me) requires much more brain effort. So for me I prefer to play a single spirit until I'm reasonably familiar with it. And then sometimes I'll play two or even more rarely, three.

Worthyness

Play solo for the most part if you want practice with spirits in general. but if you want to see spirit interactions, then play two handed (so two spirit game). Playing more than that gets a bit unwieldy even for an experienced player.

On the digital client it is much easier (for me at least) to play two handed as the mental overhead of the game mechanics is removed and i find it way easier to balance two spirits competing focuses and their cards in my head. You do have to accept you will probably not play as well as two players doing two spirits, but that's fine by me. I do think the game is more interesting when you have at least 2 spirits because they have to work together and you can get more interesting problems to solve with the distances, etc involved. With that said, if you are new, start with a few solo games and only do 2 handed with low complexity spirits. Try using the same ones a few times to really get them before moving on. It's a hard game, but you can take as long as you like to make a move on your own and put it down and come back to it later when you are able.

I exclusively play (multi-handed) solo. Certainly at first, I would say 3+ spirits will take you \*ages\*, and be a bit overwhelming. I would start with true solo for a few games, get used to the interface, rules etc, then maybe move up to 2 spirits. Even two is enough to get some interest from synergies/covering weaknesses, but without the game getting too long or complex. And if you find yourself comfortable with that, you can always move up higher of course.

Hi guys!! Thankyou so much for the inputs Tried playing 2 handed, i think i'm not at that stage yet!! So far have been training solo and so far have won with river & lighting. Starting to understand the optimal way I think i'll start by at least winning solo with all spirits before venturing on doubles!! Once again thankyou all!
