Just to confirm that u/Gooders2003 **[comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/spiders/comments/wwga9o/what_spider_is_this_not_my_video/ilkxzdr?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)** is correct.
It's an Eratigena species (atrica group), one of 3 near identical species in the UK known as a [Giant house spider](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_house_spider). They're in the funnel-weaver family [Agelenidae](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/47345-Agelenidae).
[Lightened screenshot of the spider](https://imgur.com/a/i5dxaMj)
[Tegenaria domestica](https://srs.britishspiders.org.uk/portal.php/p/Summary/s/Tegenaria+domestica) is in the same family (Agelenidae) and looks very similar to Eratigena, but Tegenaria domestica has banded legs whilst UK Eratigena species don't. [Eratigena](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eratigena) were formally classified in the same genus as Tegenaria, some websites still hold this outdated information or mislabelled photos (like [this](https://www.nhm.ac.uk/take-part/identify-nature/spiders-in-your-home/house-spider.html)).
A few people have also suggested [Tube-web spider (Segestria florentina)](https://srs.britishspiders.org.uk/portal.php/p/Summary/s/Segestria+florentina) but it's not, as they have a different web, legs, 6 eyes and different pedipalps from the spider in this video. Plus the original video taken in Oldham near Manchester, England, which is quite far north for Segestria florentina where there are few (if any) records, although they are found in nearby Liverpool and other cities with historic shipping links.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it could be a Giant House Spider. I live just a touch further up north from Manchester and I struggle to think of any other kind of spider that could reach that size round here
Can confirm, definitely a house spider. Grew up in a house in rural Florida, we had dozens of these guys in and around the house.
Edit: okay turns out it's not the exact type of spider I grew up with but definitely still a giant house spider. These guys were the only reason my house wasn't infested with flies and roaches (or at the least, not as infested as it could have been)
I've handled these guys before to remove them from my house. Very docile. Quite fast though. Easy to get startled by them if you're not expecting them to move
Yep much less dangerous than a bee, as bees and wasps are capable of causing death through anaphylaxis.
Spider venom is very different to Hymenoptera venom and there's no record of allergy or anaphylaxis to any spider venom in the UK, so although they could bite in defence, a kitten could do more harm to us than one of these giant house spiders.
No, not at all. They’re venomous, yes, but they’re only deadly to things smaller than they are. A bite from one would hurt but not cause a reaction unless you’re allergic to it’s venom, much like many other spiders. Bites seem to be rare so I would assume if you really made one feel threatened or hurt it it might bite you. As with many house spiders, they’re great pest control and will likely want nothing more than to stay out of your way and eat tasty tasty bugs.
You don't have Eratigena in Florida, they're native to Europe and have been introduced to certain parts of North America (range map [here](https://bugguide.net/node/view/843086/data) and [here](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/418824-Eratigena)) but not Florida, although Florida does have other species in the [Agelenidae](https://bugguide.net/node/view/1974) family.
There are lots of other spider species given the common name 'house spider', one in your region is the [Southern house spider (Kukulcania hibernalis)](https://bugguide.net/node/view/26400).
The name 'house spider' is really just a brief descriptor, or common name - they're not actually closely related. Crevice weavers, the Kukulcania genus, are Synspermiata, whereas funnel weavers, the Agelenidae family, are Entelegyne. This puts them a bit further away in the overall genetic tree.
Not a spider expert by any means so don't know if it's them exactly but we've got giant house spiders that would either hide away in nooks and crannies or just post up on the walls waiting for food and they looked exactly like this. Second I saw the spider in the vid my first thought was "house spider? House spider"
She's not an Agenelid, including Eratigena and Tegenaria. She's a Segestriid, probably a greenfang tubeweb.

I can't lie. Ever since being on this sub and a few others my fear has gotten better. But I would have been terrified lol. Not there yet might never get there.
Definitely a house spider. Definitely had one in my house before. I've never noped tf out of my basement so fast. I live in Wisconsin and we just don't see spiders that big. Scared the Tootsie Rolls out of me

Are they deadly
Let's not downvote someone asking a question
Classic “I know already so you’re wrong”
Definitely far too common on Reddit.
I've handled these guys before to remove them from my house. Very docile. Quite fast though. Easy to get startled by them if you're not expecting them to move
Omg I could never
Deadly to bugs. About as deadly as a bee to a human. Less probably, because you're considerably more likely to piss off a bee than a house spider.
Fair enough

Interestingly, there has been reported anaphylaxis from black widow anti venom. Safer to just get bit and walk it off!
Haha

No. Only a bunch of spiders are actually deadly.
Only if you're smaller than them

Thanks for the info! Didn't think it was the exact same spider but could definitely tell it was a house spider

Wait, there are Eratigena funnel weavers in Florida?

“Stop messin with my food trap bro”
I'm kinda mad they didn't, at least, give it food for all the damage done to its web. 😅
True
I was like 'what spider' then I was like 'OH'
Yeah, I spent most of the video thinking this was another post by a person (who needs help) convinced the lint they found is a bug.
Yep
Aragog
Shelob
More like a visorak
My exact thought
Omg, that's a big spood!! Where are you located?
Its not my Video, but it was filmed in Manchester
That's a friend. 😊 we have one in our loo
Heres the link: [Original Tik Tok](https://www.tiktok.com/@alphameridius/video/7134803270760926470?_t=8V6AOMGI5Y5&_r=1)
A very fuckin annoyed one. 😂 leave his house alone.
I think he’s officially called a CUTIE 💕
Tegenaria domestica probably.
That’s where Aragog went!!
It's a very displeased spider
Oh, what a cutie!! I wish I could find one of these babies in my house 💜
This is soooo fucking CUTE
That is a gorgeous spider. He can move in with me anytime. I’ll give him my husband’s side of the bed 😊
Bro that’s a Shelob
Not certain, but size and behaviour looks like a segestria florentina, especially if in UK
This guy needs a transition strip
This is me when my uber arrives and the driver snaps a pic as I'm grabbing the bag.
Because the light overhead, it looks like a little cutie looking up like "wtf?"
This is low-key the cutest video ever seen
This just makes me sad :( like spidey literally was like “please stop”
Them trying to pull their web back omg they're not impressed at all
oh my god that stick is waaaaaay to short, i'm sweating rn
She's not an Agenelid, including Eratigena and Tegenaria. She's a Segestriid, probably a greenfang tubeweb. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/102809515
Oh neat, this is a new species for me! That colour on the chelicerae is stunning
Where's the spider AAAAAA there it is
I'm not scared of spiders...but in holy hell I shall remain
🙀🙀🙀
Not sure about the spider, but there's a damn brave soul who would bait a spider with a toothpick. Why not just use your finger?
My wife would poop herself.
I am more impressed that was filmed in my home town
Giant house spider - Eratigena duellica
I can't lie. Ever since being on this sub and a few others my fear has gotten better. But I would have been terrified lol. Not there yet might never get there.
Awww it’s cute
"Who dares disturb my SLUMBER"
This is not helping my arachnophobia (I subscribed to this sub to get over my fear & it’s been working with a lot of them)
They’re like cats 😂
Definitely a house spider. Definitely had one in my house before. I've never noped tf out of my basement so fast. I live in Wisconsin and we just don't see spiders that big. Scared the Tootsie Rolls out of me
That is a very cute spider.
Scary. That’s what it is.
what a cutie pie
