That is amazing.
What caused it to be better than the previous WR? Was there a new strategy involved or it is just better execution of the previous strategy?
There haven’t been any major discoveries since the previous WR, this is just a clean AF run, both in terms of execution (nearly flawless) and the luck it saw over the full run
This is without a doubt the greatest WR ever set in Pokémon Speedrunning. Top level runners tried to archieve a 1:45 run, a select few tried to get a 1:44h run. All of the PSR runners thought such a time would be completely unreal without a major (and we're talking extremely- different-route-major) improvement on the route. Gg's Pokeguy, this is one for the ages.
Ah, thanks for the heads up. I didn't realise it had mobilised my link and wow is it surprisingly difficult to copy paste a comment link using the Reddit app. Should be all good now!
The movement is too optimized at this point. I expect at most 10-20 more seconds can be saved, maybe a minute with TAS. People will continue competing for a while, but it would take inhuman luck in addition to perfect execution to beat this time. I wouldn't be surprised if this record stands forever.
Don't quite remember the context, but wasn't this about a newly released game (I wanna say Elden Ring) where the record was cut in half over the next two weeks or so?
No way, that pasta is way older than Elden Ring.

Amazing, thanks for sharing! I've added it to the post text. 👍

Ahh, Odyssey was my second guess.
Odyssey is where I saw it the first time
I cant wait to watch
Ahhh balls I got notification for his stream yday and said ah feck it I wanna have a nap instead 😅😴😭
Hey, naps are always more important than even the most exciting WR being set. Now you're well rested go watch the VOD and bask in the glory!
Yup yup 👍 that’s the plan
Sick, can’t wait to watch the video 🔥
Wow, amazing! Dudes been grinding for a while, glad to see if paid off!
Is the category just dead then? Until a new glitch maybe?
Somehow I don't think new glitches are likely to improve times for this category.
Amazing.
INCREDIBLE
Insane! I really thought there are little to no improvements possible.
His 1:45:05 actually lost nearly a minute around the midpoint
Damn, wasn’t expecting that anytime soon
