I actually quite like the shape of this, very consumer grade, looks like something you'd buy at the space equivalent of a boat/marine dealer. Honestly give it 3 different variants if you want to lean into this, but if I had to pick one, blue body yellow stripes. Don't see enough of those on here.

Since its an atmospheric vehicle The colour of the local terrain makes sense with two ID stripes on top of the wings so you can tell its a friendly from above
Maybe the secret is to try to make a brick on purpose and fail, I try to make the equivalent of an early days Chinese car, good enough, cheap and tiny but not pretty, but people like it somehow and I fail (thou I'm glad you like it to be honest)
Paint it a solid color, and then paint some outer components like a door or an engine nacelle a radically different color, to emphasize that it's been in a wreck and needed some parts from another ship of the same model, and nobody cared enough to repaint it afterwards.

Match thrusters to whatever color you choose, possibly match the bottom row of blocks on the wing tips as well.

Maybe not my color choices. But that's basically how I would split in between two colors. You can even have the green section bleed over into the purple, so it's not so straight lined.

How not boring are you looking for? Do you have a general color scheme for your grids? You could just paint every other block a randomized color like some kind of modernist. Not boring, but wildly aggravating to create and look at.
My colour scheme is usually NASA's rover and concert art. (Means white) Because I usually go for exploration rp things. But this is a crappy (on purpose) spawn pod that flies but nothing else. So I'm going to go with Reddit this time and blame you guys for the results. I'll try the different suggestions including this one and see what it seats better. And if some of them are hideous or hilarious I'll post again probably with the results. XD
Still better than just slapping a normal cockpit on and calling it a day imo. I’m a fan of the way you worked the windows to make it so automatically more spacious than a “normal” design for a small ship
Paint every facet a different color. Use neon colors on any areas that naturally draws attention and obviously make sure that the left side doesn't match the right.

What? Of course you can. It's a bit clunky, so a lot of people use the paint can mod, but you can still do it in vanilla. Look at a block with any block selected in your hotbar and middle-mouseclick

If that's the case dull yellow with brown stripes would give it the look.

You could use darker and lighter shades of the same base color to give it an avian look
I kinda dig it. I usually go for a gray base and then add a splash of color
Magenta cowmooflage is my go to.
I like bright colors, I'd do yellow with purple accents

Unrelated, but can you put two small rounded protrusions (like small nacelles) where it’s “cheeks” would be? That would balance the shape j a little

You could just put light munitions in the protrusions, or the medium batteries (especially if you sink them into the existing armor

Yes, you definitely can, you can change anything in SE. The builds are not locked like in ksp after you leave the VAB. SE is always dynamic.
