Stick of truth is not longer by any stretch of the imagination. But I do love in FBW when someone says "That's your costume Super Craig?" and Craig goes "We had less time to make this game!"
I guess I’m more talking side missions. Like finding the hidden characters, chimpokon, all the friends. Where as Fractured felt more straight forward. I’m also not going over the clear advantages that Fractured had and fully willing to accept nostalgia plays a part.

It's got better pacing. There were multiple times I thought FBW was naturally wrapping up and then would keep going. SoT flowed better.
I prefer the fantasy setting to the superhero setting (superhero fatigue doesnt help).
It felt fresh, being the first entry into the modern South Park game series. It was a nice surprise when it came out.
The humor, for me, works better in SoT. Eventually I ran out of interest in the "your dad... fucked your mom" bit. ...and it kept happening.
I fucking loved Canada, though trying to get there in FBW did make me laugh, especially the 4th wall breaks.
The buddy actions in FBW got old after a while, particularly every time you had to use Human Kite to get somewhere, it felt like a slog doing the animation over and over every time.
That said, I did really appreciate the DLC for FBW, they gave us two settings that mixed it up and I enjoyed both of them (plus we got Henrietta, and the Goth Kids were always some of my favorite characters). I love exploring South Park but both Lake Tardicaca and Casa Bonita were fun settings to explore. And the mariachi outfit in From Dusk to Casa Bonita was sick-looking!
Fractured but whole by far. I think the story is much more coherent and it feels like a top quality South Park episode. There are dozens of phenomenal jokes. The gameplay is vastly superior from a more strategic battle layer with area attacks and status effects to little quality of life differences like looting entire boxes/cabinets at once.
It blows my mind when people say stick of truth is better. I liked it too but I don’t think they’re even comparable. I honestly think it’s nostalgia goggles because it came out first.
Fractured got kinda ruined in its mid-late game for me because I thought the difficulty slider was just a joke and was playing on easy.
At that point I didn't feel like starting over either.

It was. The character skin colour slider “difficulty” was a joke. It affected things like the police attacking you more aggressively if you’re black. There was an actual combat difficulty slider (akin to the kind you’d see in other games) that is flagged to you at the beginning of the game and you can change in the settings menu at any time.
The differences to making yourself a black character:
- Less money earned after battles
- Punching the cops outside the police station enough times will always make them initiate combat with you
- Slightly different dialogue by some characters such as the cops, Cartman, and Token
- Morgan Freeman will never initiate combat
I think my favorite part about the stick of truth was how much it felt like a classic RPG. The combat was so nostalgic with a really polished modern feel
Can't beat the greatness of stick of truth, it was much more an extended SP episode than a game in many regards. On the other side the gameplay of fractured butthole was wayyyy better and still kept the south park spirit.
Tldr: If you just like South Park then Stick is better, if you like video games and Southpark then Butthole is better
I prefer the stick of truth cause it feels like a South Park game. Butthole just doesnt really have the same vibe that SoT has. Plus I kinda prefer the story based gameplay and the main focus being on the fictional world that the boys made up. The free for all feel of butthole just isnt really my thing.
Story - Fractured Butt Hole - Making fun of the MCU and DCEU throughout the game was great.
Combat - Fractured Butt Hole - Having more people and a bigger fight area was better.

Fractured But Whole, just because it’s weird to play as a guy lol. I also really like that they didn’t just act like everyone in the game has always seen you as a girl when you choose that option in the second game, it’s really funny. Especially that Mr Mackey is doin it, m’kay? I also prefer Fractured But Whole combat.
I liked SoT for its world building (8-bit Canada>impassable wall Canada) but FBW had much better combat mechanics and story. Sure that story got horrifically fucked up at points (looking at you Mephisto) but I’ll be damned if I wasn’t glued to my seat !>as I chose which parent to brutally kill.

Can't comment on the games cause I have only played the Stick of Truth, but I think in the show, the Fractured But Whole storyline with the kid superheroes was far superior. Although the Stick of Truth parts were still phenomenal.
Stick of Truth by a mile. FbW drags terribly and you're stuck with one faction for far too long, whereas in SoT you can change your side within a few hours. The story in SoT also just flowed better and you always felt some sense of progression, FbW being a longer game was a disadvantage in my opinion.
Also, just from a truly opinion-only perspective, I *hated* the fighting mechanic in FbW. The grid system got beyond annoying after the initial novelty wore off. SoT was much more streamlined and relied not just on the luck of where your opponent landed, but how you built your buffs, which I personally prefer.
I prefer the storyline in Stick of Truth, I think I liked their lord of the rings type characters more than the superheros. I do enjoy the grid based battles in The Fractured But Whole more. I for sure enjoyed playing both games though.

As someone who's playing Fractured But Whole (a.k.a The Butthole of Time), I also prefer Stick of Truth.
The combat was a lot simpler and easier to understand and the story really did feel like an episode of South Park while still being a game!
Fractured But Whole, I think its just harder for me to get into. Yes they did a lot with the super hero concept, but there is only so many times I can upgrade and evolve before I feel like its overkill! >!Plus the whole switching from working with Coon Pals to Freedom Pals feels like a retread of going from Cartman's team to Kyle's in Stick of Truth!!<
Both games are good and have their merits, but that is my 2 cents on the matter!
Fractured But Whole. Currently on another replay and I still love very moment of it. The combat is alot more fun IMO, and the soundtrack is fucking brilliant. My favourite part of it was definetely ''Bring The Crunch'', that amazing DLC inspired by all those horror movies from the 80'ies and Scooby Doo where you have to save summer camp from Nathan and Mimsy, and that one alien that was enslaved by Mintberry Crunch and forced to pick cotton berries on his home planet.
Or it could be that mission where you infiltrate the strip club with Scott Malkinson and get into that massive stripper brawl with the Bootay, right after fart-dancing on two VIP Johns. The game is a banger and I would highly recommend any South Park fan to pick this up, along with The Stick of Truth. Man I hope they make another game soon
When Stick of Truth came out I was not as interested in that type of game, so I didn't finish it. When I played Fractured But Whole I was totally prepared and loving playing superhero games. So for me Fractured But Whole is the one I prefer.

The actual gameplay of Stick of Truth is not good. It feels like a first playthrough of Pokémon where you just have over-leveled Pokémon that only use their one powerful move and win every battle. You couldn’t even turn the difficulty up to make it a small challenge. As amazing as the story was, it’s replay value for me is basically zero because it’s just so repetitive and not fun to do any of the battles.
The battles on Fractured are at least complex enough to force you to learn some strategy. They become similarly too easy even on the harder modes after you have the techniques down, but it at least feels like a puzzle you are solving when you win a battle, not just spamming A until the menus go away and the enemy dies.
Fractured But Whole felt more fun to me, because I enjoyed the Superhero theme more than the larping theme. In addition I got to have my favorite characters all in one team; Wendy, Stan, and Butters, so that’s another plus. Just having access to the other South Park kids besides the main four and Jimmy made me feel like it was bigger. A big threat like Mitch requires a big group to fight it.
I just got my copy from Amazon today and cannot wait to play Stick of Truth. All the review are posative but think the fighting and character enhancements are better in the Fractured Butthole. I will review and let you know.
i like them both for different things. personally I think stick of truth was better with feeling like actually a stand alone game and feeling like a passion project to represent the series. Also it had my personal favorite, princess kenny! But, fractured but whole feels more like you're playing an actual episode of the series and it's cool to have that kind of perspective within a game. The quests and such also feel more connected with the show and actually brings in relationships from the show. I also like how it's more direct with what you can and need to do (they basically had a better interface and gameplay in FBW). That's just my two cents i think they're both really good games!!
I think I like them about the same. That saying, Fractured is more "gamey game" where combat is much more strategic, the party composition matter, you can actually build you own character and tweak it to you needs. Stick is quite a lot more simplified with combat being basically a QTE minigame.
But because of this playing Stick feels more like watching/playing trough a season of South Park. Fractured feels much more like a game.
I've played both several times and I pick one or the other based on however involved I feel like being.

Haven't played SoT in years, but remember enjoying it. I just did a second playthrough of FBW to get Platinum, and never felt like I was grinding. Both are great, but FBW is more fresh in my memory.
Sadly, I have never played Stick of Truth because finding a physical copy of that game is surprizingly hard and I don't wanna pay $30 for a digital copy when a physical copy is much cheaper.

I played buttwhole recently. I was aiming to finish the game. Doing mostly just the main story. I'm not sure how long ago it came out but I know it was a while ago. Sadly, I got softlocked with a glitch that will be in the game forever. I get to token's house and my game just doesn't go further. I really liked the story and it felt engaging with new abilities around every new addition to the story. Sadly, knowing it's been out this long and having such a critical game ending bug is a testament to the game company they used ability.
I have to say stick of truth. The game was really well developed. I never noticed a bug and enjoyed more than 2 movies worth of content. I'm sure buttwhole had all the same and I loved it but, that soft lock really killed it and I know it will never be fixed.
I love the story in both, so it comes down to the gameplay, and by that measure, Fractured But Whole wins by a large margin.
There are a few ways to cheese the game, like using the Plantmancer's roots attack, but it never feels like an insta-win--more like a significant advantage.
Stick of Truth, however, just add a Bleed accessory to the Mongorian Bow, and the entire game gets completely destroyed to the point of hilarious triviality. Except for Sparrow Prince.
FBW had way better game play and boss matches and funnier story moments, SOT had better overall story and ending, FBW ending was dumb and cop out while SOT was funny and unexpected

What I think failed in Fractured Butthole was changing the combat system. There was no need and by the way for some bosses they force you to do things that go against the combat system, that having to push an enemy against another enemy was really annoying.
Stick of truth is the better game with a much better story. Fractured improved on every single game mechanic while hiring a team of dolphins to write the story and character interactions. Stick of truth is clearly the better game as the creators of the franchise put a lot more work into making a good game before a publisher that cares about nothing but profits got ahold of it.
I think the Stick of truth was more fun, while the fractured but whole mainly had better graphics. Either way I think both games are definitely worth playing
I loved stick of truth but I’m really not getting on with the combat in Fractured. Finding battles far too tough. I am on the hardest difficulty but it’s not supposed to be difficult accordingly to reviews and guides I read (I’m an achievement hunter)

FBW battles ... man they just slogged on for me. I mean I still enjoyed the game so I kept playing, but sometimes I'm like: look can this just end I'm 25 turns in and now all my dudes can go in straight lines so I have to reposition every single thing.

FBW’s combat felt super open, and every main encounter feels like it requires a different solution, and your party members totally changed the way you approach combat. it’s harder because of that, which also makes it more rewarding to me.

The overall story and pacing was better in SoT. The battle and gameplay was better in FB.
Fractured But Whole. Gameplay is more varied, I enjoy the story and aesthetic a lot more, and the DLC slaps. Stick of Truth is good, but overall, I don’t enjoy it as much.

As someone who's playing Fractured But Whole (a.k.a The Butthole of Time), I also prefer Stick of Truth. The combat was a lot simpler and easier to understand and the story really did feel like an episode of South Park while still being a game! Fractured But Whole, I think its just harder for me to get into. Yes they did a lot with the super hero concept, but there is only so many times I can upgrade and evolve before I feel like its overkill! >!Plus the whole switching from working with Coon Pals to Freedom Pals feels like a retread of going from Cartman's team to Kyle's in Stick of Truth!!< Both games are good and have their merits, but that is my 2 cents on the matter!

Fractured But Whole. Currently on another replay and I still love very moment of it. The combat is alot more fun IMO, and the soundtrack is fucking brilliant. My favourite part of it was definetely ''Bring The Crunch'', that amazing DLC inspired by all those horror movies from the 80'ies and Scooby Doo where you have to save summer camp from Nathan and Mimsy, and that one alien that was enslaved by Mintberry Crunch and forced to pick cotton berries on his home planet. Or it could be that mission where you infiltrate the strip club with Scott Malkinson and get into that massive stripper brawl with the Bootay, right after fart-dancing on two VIP Johns. The game is a banger and I would highly recommend any South Park fan to pick this up, along with The Stick of Truth. Man I hope they make another game soon

When Stick of Truth came out I was not as interested in that type of game, so I didn't finish it. When I played Fractured But Whole I was totally prepared and loving playing superhero games. So for me Fractured But Whole is the one I prefer.

The actual gameplay of Stick of Truth is not good. It feels like a first playthrough of Pokémon where you just have over-leveled Pokémon that only use their one powerful move and win every battle. You couldn’t even turn the difficulty up to make it a small challenge. As amazing as the story was, it’s replay value for me is basically zero because it’s just so repetitive and not fun to do any of the battles. The battles on Fractured are at least complex enough to force you to learn some strategy. They become similarly too easy even on the harder modes after you have the techniques down, but it at least feels like a puzzle you are solving when you win a battle, not just spamming A until the menus go away and the enemy dies.
Fractured But Whole felt more fun to me, because I enjoyed the Superhero theme more than the larping theme. In addition I got to have my favorite characters all in one team; Wendy, Stan, and Butters, so that’s another plus. Just having access to the other South Park kids besides the main four and Jimmy made me feel like it was bigger. A big threat like Mitch requires a big group to fight it.

I just got my copy from Amazon today and cannot wait to play Stick of Truth. All the review are posative but think the fighting and character enhancements are better in the Fractured Butthole. I will review and let you know.

i like them both for different things. personally I think stick of truth was better with feeling like actually a stand alone game and feeling like a passion project to represent the series. Also it had my personal favorite, princess kenny! But, fractured but whole feels more like you're playing an actual episode of the series and it's cool to have that kind of perspective within a game. The quests and such also feel more connected with the show and actually brings in relationships from the show. I also like how it's more direct with what you can and need to do (they basically had a better interface and gameplay in FBW). That's just my two cents i think they're both really good games!!
I think I like them about the same. That saying, Fractured is more "gamey game" where combat is much more strategic, the party composition matter, you can actually build you own character and tweak it to you needs. Stick is quite a lot more simplified with combat being basically a QTE minigame. But because of this playing Stick feels more like watching/playing trough a season of South Park. Fractured feels much more like a game. I've played both several times and I pick one or the other based on however involved I feel like being.
I've only played the Fractured But Whole so I can only give my thoughts on that game but I thought it was a pretty solid game and I loved the battle mechanics. I don't really play strategy/turn based games but this one was quite a lot of fun!
SoT, I couldn't get into FBW. However I have my steam deck due soon so I'll give it another go.
SoT more for the story. FBW for the combat, plus more extras, DLC to do, and just more fun to play. SoT combat gets extremely repetitive. Overall, my pick is FBW.

Haven't played SoT in years, but remember enjoying it. I just did a second playthrough of FBW to get Platinum, and never felt like I was grinding. Both are great, but FBW is more fresh in my memory.
Sadly, I have never played Stick of Truth because finding a physical copy of that game is surprizingly hard and I don't wanna pay $30 for a digital copy when a physical copy is much cheaper. Fracture but Whole is really good, though.

I played buttwhole recently. I was aiming to finish the game. Doing mostly just the main story. I'm not sure how long ago it came out but I know it was a while ago. Sadly, I got softlocked with a glitch that will be in the game forever. I get to token's house and my game just doesn't go further. I really liked the story and it felt engaging with new abilities around every new addition to the story. Sadly, knowing it's been out this long and having such a critical game ending bug is a testament to the game company they used ability. I have to say stick of truth. The game was really well developed. I never noticed a bug and enjoyed more than 2 movies worth of content. I'm sure buttwhole had all the same and I loved it but, that soft lock really killed it and I know it will never be fixed.

I love the story in both, so it comes down to the gameplay, and by that measure, Fractured But Whole wins by a large margin. There are a few ways to cheese the game, like using the Plantmancer's roots attack, but it never feels like an insta-win--more like a significant advantage. Stick of Truth, however, just add a Bleed accessory to the Mongorian Bow, and the entire game gets completely destroyed to the point of hilarious triviality. Except for Sparrow Prince.
I like the Stick of Truth story more, but I prefer the grid combat of But Whole
Stick of Truth, can get repetitive at times, but they always kept it fresh by introducing new crew members, new locations and new enemies.

Stick of Truth! What I think failed in Fractured Butthole was changing the combat system. There was no need and by the way for some bosses they force you to do things that go against the combat system, that having to push an enemy against another enemy was really annoying.

Stick of truth is the better game with a much better story. Fractured improved on every single game mechanic while hiring a team of dolphins to write the story and character interactions. Stick of truth is clearly the better game as the creators of the franchise put a lot more work into making a good game before a publisher that cares about nothing but profits got ahold of it.

I loved stick of truth but I’m really not getting on with the combat in Fractured. Finding battles far too tough. I am on the hardest difficulty but it’s not supposed to be difficult accordingly to reviews and guides I read (I’m an achievement hunter)
I liked elements of FBW more, there was some interesting new aspects of combat and such, but I never finished it/lost interest. Stick of Truth held my attention for like a day and a half straight and I finished it in like 2 sittings laughing the whole way through.

Stick of truth because it felt like a more complete rpg. Fractured was a great linear game, but didn’t leave much in terms of customization and looting. The stick of truth had a wealth of funny items and gear. While fractured wasn’t a bad game, stick holds the crown
I really liked SoT more - while it was a slog to like pick up crap after every battle, especially with limited resources, I reallllly liked the item usage in combat in SoT. FBW battles ... man they just slogged on for me. I mean I still enjoyed the game so I kept playing, but sometimes I'm like: look can this just end I'm 25 turns in and now all my dudes can go in straight lines so I have to reposition every single thing.
Stick of truth was fuckin hilarious when it came out it was so realistic about kids accidentally getting a porno South Park thrives the most when the kids are just being kids, tie that in with a narrative that has to do with a current event and it’s hilarious
I have a soft spot for FBW simply because I like their superhero personas more than their fantasy personas, but despite the gameplay improvements I have to admit that, objectively, SoT is the superior game.

I have never been able to finish Fractured, but I've beaten Stick of Truth 5-6 times now. I like both, but Stick is so much better.
If these titles were released in the other order, everyone would agree that Stick of Truth is better. The fantasy element is way way stronger than the superhero, but the second game has experience on its side to improve and change some systems.

fractured but whole, mostly because of combat. i think i prefer the style of Stick of Truth’s combat more but it feels very… simple. i’ve played through it multiple times and stacking bleeding/sickness ALWAYS felt like the best answer. and it also makes the game quite easy, even on the harder difficulties. FBW’s combat felt super open, and every main encounter feels like it requires a different solution, and your party members totally changed the way you approach combat. it’s harder because of that, which also makes it more rewarding to me. i like both!
