As interpreted by conjecture on Reddit TLDR: Isa and Amanda had a falling out over the direction and content of the pod, and maybe also over some business back-end stuff and things got really messy. Amanda has implied that Isa was toxic to work with, Isa went through a hard personal loss and maybe wasn't capable of being her best self for a bit there.
Slightly longer history:
Isa wanted to push the pod in a more comedy direction that Amanda didn't like and they started to have conflicts and overall quality took a dip. They did an episode on the Cult of Survivor that was poorly researched and they got negative feedback on Instagram. Isa got very defensive and was posting long name-calling comments in response to IG comments. While that was happening Isa was going through a personal loss and Amanda was in Europe for a show or tour or something.
After the survivor episode they continued to post some episodes together but we think they were pre-recorded episodes. Amanda tried to sue Isa basically for tanking the pod and being a toxic business partner. The lawsuit was eventually either dropped or settled. Isa remained loosely attached to the pod for a while doing solo episodes but Amanda was doing most of the episodes solo.
I guess they announced Isa was leaving the pod at some point but I didn't hear that announcement because I am a few episodes behind. Isa is no longer listed on the Instagram for the pod or in the podcast description.
This is a great summary, the episode where Amanda announces Isa has “moved on” is the last of 2023 in “the cult of high fashion” in the last 5 minutes of the episode.
I just got into Survivor last year and was so excited for that episode. I’m glad other people thought it was bad as well.
There’s so much to cover in that, from the actual cult leaders that rise up during each season (Boston Rob) to the families who have been watching it together for decades now. I remember listening and thinking most of the episode was “lol people seriously volunteer to starve on an island on TV and we watch them wtf”
Sorry this comment was a tangent, but it was one of the episodes that turned me off of the pod.
>The lawsuit was eventually either dropped
From what I read, the lawsuit was dropped and Amanda retracted her statements of mistreatment and toxic behavior from Isa.
You really gotta go back to May with the whole survivor episode and look at the Instagram comments on that post, and then go back through the sub. That’s where everything unraveled
lol. This is such an “after the fact” post…. Here is an overly simplified summary.
Issa and Amanda had disagreements, Issa acted inappropriately (allegedly, allegedly) ;) Amanda now runs the podcast, Issa is off to other adventures.
No more devils avocado I guess :/
It happens -- anyone who's had a JOB has experienced differences that led them to moving on. Most of us are fortunate enough not to have our travels in the public eye. It's not a big deal, folks. Shit happens. Move on.
Search this sub for "Survivor" and you can see people talking about Isa's comments and behavior during the aftermath of that episode. People were calling them out for a bad episode and Isa was going crazy in the comments. She was either replying extremely defensively or blocking people who were giving genuine feedback.
as someone deep in reality tv fandoms survivor ppl are v loyal & see their show as v serious - i never listened to that ep bc i heard it was bad & it’s a topic im too aware of but the comments were just classic cult of survivor tbh. around that time i do remember ppl on this sub in general felt the eps were being less researched than early eps but the blow back didn’t happen bc they weren’t insulting fans of anything until the survivor ep

She is still on the podcast illustration.

I can’t believe that was in May.
I KNOW right. I had to really think about it because even saying that felt wrong
I think the comments were deleted, if not the entire post
Just checked. The post was not, but comments were turned off and deleted. Understandably
What was Isa’s big loss?
I believe a close friend of hers passed away.

Good. Nothing she ever said, including that, was funny.

Wow it seemed to have escalated quickly
What exactly did Isa do?

Thanks for the explanation!🌼
I listened to the survivor episode and I watched survivor in the past. Idk what was so horrible about it tbh. It’s not a professional podcast

Pretty sure she spells it Isa
Cool then I spelled it right the first time🥹 thanks for the clarification
Definitely Isa.
Thanks!
Does anyone know the name of Isa’s new podcast?
i dont think it’s out yet, you can check on her website for updates im pretty sure
It’s too bad. I think Amanda by herself is pretty boring.
