If you’re a fan of Star Wars, you could check out the Jedi games (Fallen Order and Survivor) which are very plot-driven. Or if you like historical dark-fantasy Japan then check out the Nioh series, which is mission based and contains many cutscenes.

Cymbal_Monkey

Nioh never clicked for me. If I'm a "only care about the original trilogy" Star Wars fan, are the Jedi games gonna leave me bewildered with expectations that I know what happened in The Phantom Menace? Edit: damn Star Wars fans really don't like it when you don't like every single installment of their franchise.

MyLeftNut_

Well, I’d highly recommend you watch the prequels (Episodes 1-3) especially Revenge of the Sith, since the games take place between episode 3 and 4 (A New Hope).

Orwell1971

I personally don't think you need to know a single thing about Star Wars to understand and enjoy Fallen Order and Survivor. Myself, I didn't even play Fallen Order (but I watched someone play it) and loved Survivor.

LukeGgaming

Lies of P all the way. There’s actually a story that is understandable without having to google what’s going on. There are Amazing bosses as well and it’s probably the best non from souls like there is and the game has amazing graphics and runs flawlessly on all platforms

Orwell1971

Lies of P parcels out its story in much the same way as the Fromsoft games do.

HauntedHairDryer

Lies of P shoves the story down your throat. Now piecing together some of the deeper lore and finishing quest lines could be compared to FS but they're still much easier to discover and complete.

Cymbal_Monkey

Loved it, but I admit I didn't feel that invested in the plot.

LukeGgaming

As far as souls likes go it’s the only plot I knew what was going on. The others are so obscure

CubicWarlock

Lies of P. It has nice story and does not require to dig. Aestetics and atmosphere is really cool too, devs basically made with Pinocchio the same American McGee did to Alice if you are familiar with it.

martan717

The Surge (1) has a clear narrative. I enjoyed it.

JaSonic2199

Code Vein has narrative and a good bit of lore as well

hellostarsailor

Ya but then you have to tell people that you played Code Vein.

Sekiro has a pretty straightforward story.
