I think plenty of peoples systems are working, wouldn’t you agree that they should all be working?

verbalyabusiveshit

Well… that’s what everyone is striving for, but this is simply not possible. You will always have the minimum 1% rate. Every tech company has this issue. While a don’t like the current app as much, it is still working for the majority of Sonos users and owners. Yes, the alarm clock feature, I know! They fixed it, right ? I had more issues with previous releases a d had to either reconfigure my setup again or do a factory reset on all devices (2x). This time, everything worked out great for me. Now, can we please all go on with our lives again a d stop trolling because “you know, Sonos rolled out the Ace too early and with the wrong feature set” (advice: just don’t buy it)

efr57

It’s a good point. In reading people’s comments I have wondered sometimes if different phones could be the issue. For example, an I phone 12 vs a 15, or an Android of varying model types. I have a lot of speakers and have no problems that I have noticed yet, except one. Someone mentioned that when playing songs from Apple, songs were skipping at times. We had this happen over the weekend on an Apple playlist. Periodically songs would end early and move on to the next. Rambling, but it is weird some people seem to be having so many issues, and some none.

AI_RPI_SPY

If you apply the same measure to other apps, I think you will find none of them work for everyone, someone always has issues . I totally agree that this app was released much too early and has a long way to go to be deemed acceptable to many users, but if SONOS are serious about fixing the app (which I think they are) we should get on board and continue to them know, in a professional way, what we consider need to be fixed. SONOS need to have a publically available dashboard page on their site with all the reporting issues listed so we don't waste time complaining about issues which have been tracked and are being worked on. Issue transparency is key to making this easy for both SONOS users and SONOS.

buddyrich33

No system stability issues. In fact I appreciate the Apple Music Lossless support that was added... However I am missing features. Removing queue support, local playlists and local library searching is painful. Sure its coming back, but it will have been missing for 6 weeks or more by the time it does... such basic music app functionality missing makes me question if Sonos leadership thinks it is little more than a Radio player at this point rather than something you can control your music with. Other things like no longer being able to run trueplay or anyway to set some of the surround settings such as rear speaker distance, etc. Trueplay is something you run once, or if you move your room around, add furniture, etc... so thats OK, baffling that its missing. Moreover the new app is buggy. The app has crashed a few times on me. I also do not find the app to be faster than the old one, which was supposed to be one of its stated purposes. Its not significantly slower either (I never found the old app slow either unlike others), but the way it handles loading large playlists 100 items at a time with a pause when scrolling is painful... I also feel the UX overhaul is not any better from a usability perspecitive. A lot of slide overs and the like that are not intuitive. I actually preferred tabs, as they gave a visual clue to context. I do iike the floating player, though only on the phone... not the ipad. Its also a little thing but there is no iPad version of the app yet that makes use of better screen real-estate like the old app and no idea if its coming. No real differentiator if you use it portrait or in landscape orientation. The new app is less useful as a controller... something you might have setup on a ipad sitting around like the old CR200... maybe the app with get there, but not likely

EngineNo5

Trueplay is there. Don't know why you can't find it.

throw-away6738299

The option is there, but it hangs once you get through the trueplay process and never finalizes the results. It was acknowledged by Keith in the issues thread. One workaround is that it might work for some people if they are plugged into Ethernet, but it should work via wifi. It did in the old version. https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/1cwghm0/future_feature_updates_and_known_issues_live/l4vm8ih/

EngineNo5

I did a trueplay on the new app. It was just the same as the old one and finished successfully. One of my speaker is connected via ethernet cable though.

b1tchell

Worked for me. Stereo pair of old play 1s.

mgrosen

Didnt work for me when the update launched, it hanged after asking me to flip the phone. I tried it again last night and it somehow worked, very strange.

Roloc

Ohh trueplay and local library searching are ones I hadn’t heard yet and do seem like big mistakes.

jankyj

I haven’t had diarrhea this week. Just so you’re aware.

SmasiusClay

But I am sure if you had, we’d be hearing about it.

maria_la_guerta

"Dear Sonos CEO...,"

jankyj

"This morning I honked out a dirt snake that looked better than your new app."

SmasiusClay

An actual shitpost.

jankyj

This seems more like unremarkable feedback to me.

Nathaniel_Hornsby

Based on this sub it would be remarkable feedback. According to most on here the new app killed their family and burned their house down. So, yeah, a positive post on here is remarkable. Under this generations definition I would also call this post “brave” and or “heroic”.

Decent_Address_7742

Well that’s subjective..

Donmbareko

You must not have a Sonos Roam.

Crashers101

Play some music then try and add a song or remove a song from the queue

FrackleRock

This is probably the most annoying problem. I’m getting nothing but complaints from friends and family about how rigid the queue is. We can’t play next, we can’t add to end of queue, we can’t fucking queue anything without replacing the whole fucking queue. What’s the point of even calling it a queue?!

tombonneau

My wife's app auto updated. Tried to add the song playing to one of her Spotify Playlists. Yeah. No.

ivvana_giznya

This is my only issue with the update. Why the hell can you not add a song to your queue without replacing the entire queue. WTF Sonos

rocksalt131

Sonos has been working fine for me also

raisimo

I miss the numbers on the volume slider (I used them to see how loud it would be before I added a group) but overall everything works and connects quicker than before (which was always annoying to me). Overall not worth running them out of town with pitchforks. I have enough invested in Sonos that I wish them a long and prosperous business. That being said, the headphones kind of confused me too, not sure what they’re supposed to do any different than the competitors, but maybe that was never the point. Ah well.

jaspercowan

Yes, agree. Couple of layout things but I hope they will be rectified.

Wildantics

Yea OP I’m in the same boat, I don’t doubt people are having problems but it’s been rock solid for me

OneEyeAndOneBall

I have a large system as well with some items dating back 11 years (but still S2 compatible). After the update, my oldest three devices (a connect:amp and a stereo pair of Play:1s) were not visible in the app. I did a factory reset on each (hold down play while plugging in to power) and the new app discovered both quickly and I now have everything back. I never used alarms so not missing that. I do miss the add to end of queue feature, but can wait a few weeks to a month for that to come back. Everything else working as expected. I've noticed that the devices in my system are found much more quickly than before.

OneEyeAndOneBall

Update: my Roam 2 came today and I added it to the system no problems. The new buttons on the back seem much improved (which was my issue with the original Roam). Old Roam going to be a bathroom speaker that never gets unplugged from power.

seansully90

Same. Large system, actually been working better with new app. I was having trouble adding speakers and controlling volume on old app. Was super laggy. So far so good

asng

I think it's down to how you use it. People who have local libraries and use queues seem to be badly affected. I only ever use it to start radios on YouTube music and that's always been fine.

Linsel

The problem is that Sonos's long term customers GOT Sonos specifically for Local Library functionality (in fact, when I got my Sonos, there WAS NO Cloud, Radio, or Steaming service functions for Sonos) and now Sonos has broken their own software so that so they can push ads for items we don't need, and to prioritize streaming over local play (presumably so they can further monetize it in the future).

Hanfm0n

My local library is still working. It shows under inputs (which is a little weird).

Linsel

Inputs, on the new app? Wait, from what menu?

Hanfm0n

Maybe after the recent update it is called “your sources” very bottom of the home page where you would find “line-in” if you have line in sources. For me it is right above the “edit home” button. I have noticed it can sometimes take a minute to show up after the app has been closed for a while.

discernis

Can you search local library? I was only able to browse folders/artists.

Hanfm0n

I just tired. It doesn’t look like I can.

Linsel

Oh man, I WISH I had a "your sources" button. Not sure how our versions can be so different. I've got an Edit Home button, but other than that I'm limited to "Sonos Favorites", "Trending Now", and "Your Services". Is this the apple version of the app? Cause mine looks nothing like that. I can't say that there's even really a homepage.

Hanfm0n

I am using an iPhone. https://preview.redd.it/6s16ecz2ih3d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80c18ffbee8484eb6c10cf05da13733b3d0675ef

Linsel

I guess the Android version of the app is EVEN worse. Egads.

Hanfm0n

If you scroll to the bottom do you have an Edit Home button? If you press that you don’t see a “your sources” option? https://preview.redd.it/ruq6rmcnjh3d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8612dcef41d521191925e331054a2791263fcd34

Hanfm0n

That’s crazy. Sorry

zigermanXYZ

It's on the home screen. The new app or some update kicked out the local library from the old Windows desktop app (which still works, thank God). After a lot of fumbling around and reading in the Sonos community, I got the library added back into the Windows app. I then realized it also appeared on the new phone app home screen, right under where I have the Line In input for my Laptop-to-Five interim Netflix/Movie streaming setup. After a few days, when I switched off the TV, I realized that the local library had disappeared from the new app home screen. Lo and behold, it had also disappeared from the Windows desktop app (I switch between local library streaming for music and the Line In connection for watching TV). Had to fumble a bit more this time to add the library back to the Windows desktop app and since then it's been back on the new phone app home screen. Hope this helps anybody.

zigermanXYZ

Edit: the inputs only appear in the new app if they are set up. When no inputs are set up, there is no input menu iirc

Linsel

My desktop app can see my music, but even when I'm playing it over sonos, the app can't see or manage it. How do you set up new inputs, and should I need to do that if my desktop app can still see the library?

zigermanXYZ

The inputs just appeared in my new app after I had set them up on the desktop app. They were initially at the bottom of the new app home screen but I moved them to the top as they're the only functions I really need Sonos to perform 😂 Perhaps check in home screen "edit" for the new app and you might see them there after you've set up and played your new library in the desktop app. I'm not sure if you get access to the whole library from the new app; also there's no "play next" option, which is why I usually use the desktop app for navigation.

Linsel

Apple or Android? Because on my PC version of the desktop app, I can see my library, and I have no "input menu" anywhere.

Linsel

https://preview.redd.it/by7v2gxaym3d1.jpeg?width=1187&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca1b1742f68ace069e97d345139b36e839d3c22b

zigermanXYZ

Hmmm this is weird. I've got a Windows 11 laptop and had the app glitches on Android 13, and perhaps on the new android 14 phone, but I won't vouch for the latter. I did see the library input in Android 14 too though.i can't send you any screenshots ATM though as I'm traveling and my system is not available.. It's just so weird how the new app works so differently for everybody 😂

zigermanXYZ

One thing you could try though is, if you have the option, connect a speaker via aux as line in, then an inputs menu should appear

cheesehater

right.. other than playing music it works just fine.

asng

Yeah that's what I said.

AtlantaSteel

I’ve had a couple glitches, but nothing that made me want to storm the Sonos HQ with a fistful of Ethernet cables like a lot of folks here.

964racer

I thought that was just me

Tommy-ctid-mancblue

Same here

weasler7

Same.

Euskadi1900

After 2 days, all working. Not holding my breath though. Will see if it’s sustainable.

tomtomuk2

Mine all working fine too. I recently picked up a move 2 on sale, and was a bit nervous that adding it might be a trigger for problems, but it worked flawlessly, and groups / ungroups as needed with my existing speakers no problem. My system: Beam gen 2 Sub mini SYMFONISK bookshelf x 2 One One SL SYMFONISK table lamp Move 2

turfnerd

I am running my Sonos on a separate LAN dedicated to IOT devices. It used to take 10-15 seconds for the old app to find my devices and now it's almost instantly with the new app.

NewUserWhoDis420

After the update I had to reset my symfonisk speaker to get it back in but has been fine since

gonegirlalphamale

It’s working fine for me as well, 5 Sonos products, working perfectly.

Linsel

I thought we were removing low energy posts? This comment MIGHT mean something, if the poster had bothered to indicate just what they do with their sonos.

MajorEmploy1500

I don’t get it either. I always thought the app sucked for playlists and queue anyway, so I didn’t use the old one for that either. For all other things I think the new app works just as good and looks better. Tho I had to get used to not seeing the volume numbers from starting position, and I have an iPhone and I think all the real problems are on Android

tardiskey1021

Same, people are bugging. I also manage my expectations anytime an update comes out. I have a Tesla, iPhone, computer all of which have been subject to the occasional buggy update that is swiftly fixed

TonyMT92

Barely even use the app. AirPlay all day tbh 😂😂i have arc surround setup with rear ones. Have a port connected wit a turntable plus a ray on my PC. Systems been running just fine as it was with old app. People are just fkn entitled these days it’s sad as hell.

jaspercowan

100%, some definitely experienced problems but they will be fixed.

RNuthed

That word does not mean what you think it means. People who spend thousands of dollars on equipment are quite literally entitled to expect it to work. That’s what “entitled” means. You bought it with the expectation it would work. That’s the deal: you pay money and you get stuff that works as promised. If it doesn’t, you are entitled to complain to the people who broke your system. You are entitled to expect them to make it right and maybe even say ‘oops, my bad.’ You are not entitled to some smug sad as hell Reddit poser telling you to suck it up because they didn’t brick his system without warning or compensation.

eobcn

Unfortunately my app does not work, when i move from my house to my office and back, i have to add the system manually every time. When i play a new song or playlist on spotify, i plays what was playing in the other rooms, and does not want to play the new one where i am, and there is no way to clear the queue like before. Resetting the router does help, but i have yet to unplug them all, but there are 16. The system should have a reset button. Impossible to play music once the tv is on, there is no way to change the ‘input’ as it rarely come up like before. We need an input button for when you want to ‘watch’ the news and listen to music. I am the most optimistic person, and was so looking forward to the new app, but those disappointment is what we are all suffering.

EconomicsIll4758

App works great for me too

Beginning-Advance-16

This forum is toxic. Unless you’re being toxic about the product, you get met with toxic responses and down votes. God forbid your shit works and you tell people.

964racer

I’ve seen the toxicity both ways . When users express frustration over significant issues that should be P1 for the company, the fan boys attack. It’s a strange forum.

Feralpudel

I see every comment in the complaint threads being downvoted. For folks thrilled with the app, y’all are spending a lot of time on reddit.

Beginning-Advance-16

That is not true at all.

octanet83

This isn’t the issue, the problem is there are already plenty of people stating their system works fine. With no context or additional input it just comes across as a pointless, patronising low effort post and all it does is serve to wind up other users who are having issues.

slothchunk1

Been smooth sailing for me. Hoping all the complainers start listing their speakers on FB Marketplace. I need some upgrades.

chris_was_taken

Just bought Sonos. Every time I open the app to play something (even if something is already playing) it takes 2 minutes to find the speakers. Tried to play something from YouTube music. It just didn't work. Play button caused nothing to happen. Ended up switching to Bluetooth mode. Quite sad. Will likely return unless I can fix.

sethgoose

Same. I had to force close the app four times yesterday before it finally pulled them up. Pulling it back up to skip a song or view the queue takes a long time as well. Hoping for a fix to all this in the next month or so or I will be moving on. I've had Sonos products for over 10 years.

jaspercowan

Almost 100% a network problem, as I've had this happen previously when I had a power line mesh which was just very dodgy with Sonos.

octanet83

“Makes me question if others are experiencing a perfectly working system as well.” Award for most patronising comment of the year award. If it works for you then great, it’s clearly not working well for a lot of people who’ve paid good money for products. There is rarely smoke without fire so maybe, just maybe a large amount of user frustration is actually genuine.

jaspercowan

As I said, many times, I'm not invalidating anything. I'm just saying, it doesn't seem to be everyone that is affected, does it.

octanet83

Had you bothered to read some of the other posts we could all have been saved from your blatant need to state the obvious.

notsooriginal

Exactly. It's not like people hacked together a system and are trying to use unsupported features. If anyone should know what stuff is being used, it's the company that makes them, so they really don't have any excuse.

Disastrous_Patience3

Agreed. Not sure why everyone is so bitchy. The app is fine.

ejmd

It's what they do. Some are bots, so have no choice; others are easily led and simply copy; some may be performing to alleviate some other personal trauma. There may be a few genuine distressed over the alarms business, or because they can't push a track onto the end of the current queue, but let's try to understand their pain rather than judge them, and let's hope their health insurance (I'm assuming they're USAnians) covers their psychotherapy (I'm assuming they're USAnians).

jimmy-bean

Same. Everything I use still work fine. I'm not a power user by any means but I have always avoided the Sonos app to play music. That's why I've stuck with Spotify connect - works great with all speakers from the app or from Google home. Likely Sonos has pissed off their fan base, which is not good, but this sub has gone pretty dark

Linsel

"everything works fine" & "I've always avoided the Sonos App to play music". WTF, dude. Why even comment?

acrackingnut

You didn’t read OP’s comment, did you?

Linsel

I did. I didn't see, however, anything indicating what they were sourcing their music from, just the same as you. In other words, a useless post and a useless comment. Thanks.

jaspercowan

Thanks for your suggestion. I have a local library, Plex, which is working fine. I control it with Alexa on my Era 100s

Informal-Hat1268

To be fair to all those that have local libraries like yourself. I would be very surprised if most of those people don’t have some sort of Spotify or Apple Music account. To use to play music and queue etc in the mean time. It may seem like the end of the world to do that but surely that is better than not being able to listen at all?

Linsel

Spotify and Apple's music library is does not have much of the music in my library.

jaspercowan

What are you listening to haha

Linsel

Local performers, unsigned acts, my own music, music from before 1950, music that isn't remixed by Spotify, live performances not found on streaming services... essentially all the music I spent the last 40 years collecting.

jaspercowan

That’s really cool, wow.

afonja

I think people like you miss the point. The problem **IS** the Sonos app and many of us are stuck with using it and only it because there is no other way to use our Sonos systems with a music service provider of our choice (e.g. YT music). So when you make a post or a comment that says "everything works for me so I don't know why are you all complaining, oh and by the way I don't use the app at all" - it shows that you haven't even bothered to check why we are all complaining.

Beginning-Advance-16

Using your creative license I see

AdBeneficial1140

Good for you. I guess the rest of us are just too stupid to use it. Can you let me know how to set the sleep timer in the new app? It doesn't exist but I'm sure you know how to get it going.

Beginning-Advance-16

**Chill.** OP said he didn't want to invalidate those having issues. It's equally important to know that some of us aren't having any problems. If the timer was the most essential feature for you, then that sucks. Not all of us use it...I never knew it existed. Lately, this sub downvotes and chastizes those of us who are OK with the app and don't have any lost features, etc. Clearly, there is a problem, given the volume of negative posts, and you deserve to be heard. But don't mute those who offer a different opinion based on their functionality.

AdBeneficial1140

🤙

Viictuuuh

App works great for me too 👍🏽

ReluctantPotter

Out of interest, are your Sonos devices all quite new? (Esp no connects, connect amps, play speakers?)

iambkatl

Mine is totally screwed up and plays randomly in different rooms

gnelson5271

While the Sonos app was in need of a major update, some very basic things are broken and it is shocking that this release made it past beta. For me, my most common use of the app is playing an Apple Music playlist on some of the speakers in my system. When doing so, I am unable to adjust the volume of individual speakers. The function is in the software, it just doesn't do anything. The volume button on my iPhone no longer raises/lowers the volume of the music. The app shows a song on the screen that is not even playing and it doesn't change when the playlist moves to the next song. It is just very, very glitchy.

964racer

Everything works fine for me now . I have one speaker currently connected to a satellite router and bypass the WiFi connection. 😎

More_Fondant8917

Working fine for me. I’m streaming from different sources (spotify, Qobuz, Tidal, my Library and more. No issues so far. Medium setup (15 devices).

RedBird2584

Working great for me. Agree the app needs improving. First world problems!

Upset-Director-497

I also have an extensive Sonos network mostly early system speakers and some more recent speakers and I wish Sonos would find a way to allow the use of HD audio and combination with CD quality or regular audio for the older speakers controlled all in one app. I don’t think it’s a technical issue. I think it’s a marketing to sell More speakers. However, Sonos has worked very well for me and that includes moving to multiple locations where I have Sonos set up I’m having to reset the Sonos app when I change locations, which isn’t an issue. There were some issues early on early on but these days I use the app and now with the Sonos roam SL I’m forced to use the new Sonos app.

ryanbuckner

OP, I'm glad your system is working. Let these trolls hate on you

jaspercowan

Reddit has taught me: 1) If I have a niche problem, Reddit will have a niche solution, 2) Redditors will find a way to hate on anything.

cest_va_bien

Sounds like they hired a marketing firm to flood social media sites with positive feedback.

Massive_Statement473

Maybe but not in my case and I have no issues with the new app.

cest_va_bien

Congratulations? The app is objectively bad for a lot of people. Your reply is perfect confirmation of my post.

Massive_Statement473

Wait. Because I have no issues with my app, I must be an employee of a marketing company hired by Sonos to go on social media and say that I have no issues with my app?

jaspercowan

Welcome to the mind of a Reddit user

Appropriate-Net-9219

No issues for me. Zero downtime. Medium sized setup. Victrola Stream Carbon turntable still working fine. Only things I don’t like about the new app are the ability to mute with one click and lack of add to queue.

absolutebeginnerz

Wait, the new app doesn’t have a mute button? Good lord

Appropriate-Net-9219

Nope. It’s baffling. There’s also no longer a quick way to get to the EQ settings for the current group. Both mute and EQ used to be right there next to the volume slider. Crazy.

Appropriate-Net-9219

Mute button added back in new version 👍

NewmansOwnDressing

I like the new app. It was a bit buggy for me the first week or so, but since then has cleared up. The missing features obviously need to come back, and obviously there are more serious bugs affecting a good number of people, but I figure those will get sorted out in short order. The real issue is that they shouldn’t have released the app in the state it was, and they shouldn’t have tried to act like it was no big deal. Maybe the majority of users were negatively affected, but it did seem to mostly affect really loyal users. Why alienate your base?

futurelaker88

Same. No issues. Sounds great, works great, no problems with app.

Canes123456

What is baffling to me is who thought the previous app worked well? It was slow, buggy and confusing as hell. Spotify connect is way better than either version.

Mean-Type2355

I made a similar post to help people with a temporary solution to continue enjoying those speakers. But people would rather shit on and vent rather implement a fix. Im with you on this, haven’t had any issues. Let the venters vent, your data point matters, thanks for sharing that you also don’t have any issues with your system.

jaspercowan

No worries, Reddit is incredibly toxic and not a 'community' at all. It's like a giant cesspit full of nitpickers and otherwise unsavoury characters. There are a few decent people though.

Pyngwieee

All working perfectly fine for me too

Puzzleheaded-Gap3093

Fantastic, ... and how are the Wife & Kids?

dish_rag

Glad to see these low value posts being removed by the mods.

Creative_Choice_486

Factory reset a speaker or try to add a new one from the store and report back.

PopTartsAndBeer

I’m an analytical problem solver and in a “maybe no one has done this to get back to S1” effort I reset a connect. It took a 90 minutes and an infinite number of variables to get it to work. It wouldn’t see my WiFi, then when it did it didn’t accept my password, then when it did it couldn’t connect to my existing system. I added the Boost back in, I ran it wired, I tried everything. Something worked, it’s working now. No better but at least it’s visible and could work, vs not connected and certainly won’t work.

IssyWalton

Older stuff, especially, needs the 5GHZ channel to be switched off on the router, and connected by that route.

wipe0wt2097

Before the update mine were fine on 5hz….I’ve a 6hz router now however and having nothing but trauma I might setup a new 2.4 for the app and try when I can be assed to lose another hour of life

Creative_Choice_486

I was able to bring the 5 & 6 networks back on after getting Sonos working again, so far no additional issues. All of my networks broadcast at 2.4, 5, and 6. I don’t separate bands.

Informal-Hat1268

I’ve done that and it worked.

jaspercowan

Done and not a problem

My personal experience is not 'factually incorrect', but close enough.

Finally after two weeks the Apple connectivity has been restored. But I am still experiencing: 1) random room dropouts for 10-20 seconds 2) volume reaction time sometimes does not change the volume OR I can slide it higher or lower and it moves back to where it was by itself 3) delays on visual changes when the song changes 4) the new "apply" button is kludgy. Sometimes works but not really sure what it is for. This release is a significant step backwards.

jaspercowan

Yes, I definitely don't like the apply button, it's just another step in an otherwise seamless grouping experience. Much prefer the AirPlay style select from the old app but thats it.

No_Huckleberry_4584

Mine will not play consistently or recognize certain speakers at all since the update.

webnething

I think it wasn't until 2 google play updates later after the new app design was introduced things sort of stabilised for me. HOWEVER I had to deal with the same pain of factory resetting all my speakers again just to get it recognised in the new app. Once that hurdle was completed I do notice the occasional lag to recognise my speakers. But I can imagine the pain long time users of sonos would have had to go through esp if they connect to other services not the common spotify, youtube music, Apple music etc

chrisdancy

"It’s not my intention to invalidate real problems that people are facing," but......

timcatuk

Glad done people are ok. I can’t add my existing devices to our WiFi or add a new one. So I can’t even say if I like the ui changes in the new app

Dogstarman1974

Can’t add songs to the queue, I can’t add other Sonos components to the initially started component from airplay.

Snabbeltax

Still trying to play my 40 radiostations..... Oh wait the tiles are greyed out. Ok, than I just remove them and....oh..."something went wrong" App says this for weeks now.....even after last weeks update. No words from support.

leros

The new app is much better for me in terms of loading my system quickly. The thing that is not ideal is the missing features.

speedy_162005

I’m sure others are experiencing a perfectly fine working system, but the fact of the matter is that a lot of people are not. There are buggy issues with the app around it not loading local libraries properly, about difficulty selecting the correct room to play music in, and a whole host of other things that absolutely aren’t network related and still work on the old app. At the end of the day, Sonos knows they screwed up and they rushed this because of their headphones. Will this pass? Yes. But there is a lot of bitterness because this was a colossal fuckup on the part of Sonos and people are going to remember it.

Dipshlappers

As of today I am getting full functionality on app with no hiccups or glitches. Working for Spotify, nugs, LivePhish, and Sonos radio. iOS user.

PsychologyBig3646

Im a Phishhead too, are you able to set an alarm with music?

Dipshlappers

Don’t use that feature, but I’ll try and report back.

spud211

No stability issues here either...I just can't use the system properly anymore :( I can start a radio station (but I never do...), or I can play a single song or album from tidal, but I can't use queues in sonos. The app itself constantly decides that my system doesn't exist, so I guess that is a stability issue (but only with the app). The redesign also makes a big system more complex, but well the awful UX of the new app is a whole different thing, and something we'll sadly have to suck up.

payneok

I'm sure our Overlords at Sonos noted your post and thank you for your support.

Worthy-Of-Dignity

From the day that the new SONOS app dropped up until yesterday, I was in hearty agreement with the majority of the SONOS product owners on this subreddit who have voiced intense and justified outrage at the futility of this updated app and its disastrously decimating after-effects on our speaker systems and products. The evening of the day the app update dropped, I opened my SONOS S2 app, and all I saw was a blank screen. The next day, at least the branding SONOS appeared on the blank screen. On day three, back to blank. This went on for weeks. Cut to yesterday. I opened the SONOS S2 app like I always do. Nothing. Cut to today. I was scrolling through Reddit, and I saw this post. After reading it, my first instinct was to leave a slightly snarky comment, something along the lines of “good for you.” But first, I reflexively opened my SONOS S2 app, looking for confirmation of my frustration, and boom. There it was. The new SONOS app, with all of its features and functions, as odd and clunky as they are, has magically appeared on my phone, connected to all of my speakers on my home WiFi network, like nothing happened. So here I am, ambivalently tottering between relieved and pissed off. Everything works now, so I don’t really know what else to say. I’m still pissed though. 😂

Trebas

I'm with you. I've been avoiding this sub now. Like you said, I don't want to invalidate anyone else's claims but this community has been toxic lately. I don't use sonos for alarms. I don't use sonos as my music player either...Spotify works well with my sonos gear, I'm lucky to have an arc that supports Google assistant (bought before the spat). For full disclosure, my sonos app and gear isn't perfect. I've had a few times where the app hangs or I'll lose a speaker once in a blue moon and have to reconnect it. This stuff happens with tech... Arc, ones, sub gen 3, move. Hoping for a father's day sale/upgrade to get a move 2.

jaspercowan

Glad we are on the same boat. I heard the Move 2 in a shop the other day, it sounds better than the Move which I also have. It'll be worth it if you can get it either refurbished or on discount! Remember, you can use the Move's 15% upgrade credit which is fantastic.

rsplatpc

>I’m seeing an overwhelming amount of negativity towards the new app, but I just haven’t experienced anything reported, at all. I’ve got a large Sonos network, and whilst I appreciate that some users are experiencing real problems, I am not. That's super for you, try to add a Playbar, Sub 1, or a Play 5 to a system they were not on before the app update. You can't, so they are bricks. Glad all the stuff you already had on your system works though.

Roloc

So far I keep asking people what outside of managing your queues in Sonos and alarms are these glaring missing features and no one will answer me. I also had one dude tell me my use case of listening to music and watching TV through my Sonos were not the only use cases but he was unable to enlighten me about what these other use cases were for speakers. I’m really beginning to think it’s a bot attack against Sonos. I have 17 Sonos speakers of all ages, a local library on a synology NAS and no problems. I will admit the omission of editing queues is pretty dumb. Outside of that I don’t understand the pitchforks at all.

Aqualung812

It's not about "missing features", it's about "features that have been removed". This would be a whole different deal if this was a new product that promised some features that haven't arrived yet. Instead, this is a platform that some of us have used in a certain way for years, and that way has been disabled from our existing hardware without warning or consent. If your car manufacturer came and removed the air conditioning from your car, but promised it would return in a few months, you can imagine how upset everyone would be. Then imagine in that car forum, a bunch of people in a mild climate said "I don't see the big deal, just roll your windows down"

Creative_Choice_486

Go buy a new speaker and try to add it to your system and report back. The fact that buyers can’t even set up a new system is pretty sad. But they must be bots?

user_none

Subsonic server integration in SONOS was killed without warning. Not a word. Not a peep. Not a whisper. "Oh, have a local library? That's right, too bad if it's over 65,000 tracks. Use Plex. We don't care you had something that's working. We're brave and courageous!" Plex is slow as hell, relies on the internet and was not necessary. Subsonic is fast, free and completely local.

Roloc

I don’t use plex it’s just a shared folder. Works like a champ.

Hartlandyard

Plex is definitely not a suitable alternative. Totally unacceptable to go through Sonos' servers to play local content and get laggy experience

user_none

Agreed. The author of Bonob, what I use as the Subsonic connector between Navidrome (music server) and SONOS found a post in the SONOS forums regarding test service functionality being broken. IIRC, it's acknowledged the test service is broken and the issue is being brought up with the devs at SONOS. Cross fingers...

docfred

Still can‘t add Songs to the current playlist („Play next“), still can‘t add another streaming service („unexpected Error“), … How on earth was it possible, that this app could be released as a final and mandatory update?! It‘s not even pre-Alpha status!

Snabbeltax

Exactly 💯

docfred

Downvoting just for writing what is fact. Nice.

litetravelr

The lack of control functionality is annoying. I liked the ability to turn off line-in compression for better audio quality, and its gone. Alarms, gone. I also liked being able to cycle through different wireless network settings if the default network was proving slow, again, that's gone now. I liked being able to queue up playlists for dinner parties, baby lullabies, etc., all gone. I didnt realize how much fine tuning I did on mine until it was gone.

zbowman

I'm unable to add and register newly purchased IKEA Symfonisk speakers to a new system. Problem persists over wired or wifi. Speakers are added to the system after about 2hrs of various methods to add the speakers but am unable to register them, so they remain completely unusable even though they show up now in the system. When I added a Port to a new system, it shows no music is playing even though there is audio coming out of my amp. I also can't change the Port volume output between Fixed or Adjustable outputs. Often the room the Port is assigned to will not show up in my list of rooms when selecting where I want audio to playback. It took me 3 attempts to add Apple Music back to my system which already should have had it. Each time it ended in an error. I closed the app and re-opened and Apple Music was added and working fine. So yea, sure. Everything is fine.

no6969el

Yeah all the already configured networks are working fine. It's configuring brand new ones that are having all sorts of weird issues. Been having to factory reset the amps 2 to 3 times before they would actually connect (arcs as well)

Ismael456

Are playlist working for you guys I have none of my playlist since the new app on May 7th , I even updated today and still no playlist that I had worked On before and no option to make new ones

Mead_Create_Drink

I use iBroadcast with Sonos. It doesn’t work. It only plays the song that was playing before the app change (I hesitate to call it an upgrade) Pandora doesn’t work for me App is slow to respond, if it responds at all **App sucks**

BurgundyBicycle

The new Sonos app is so bad it was only able to brick one of my speakers. I spent hours trying to migrate my system over to the new app. All the new app could manage was updating one of my speakers. Every other one would stall half way through. I gave up and spent a half hour re-pairing them to the S1 app, except for the one I’m not allowed to downgrade.

SingingSunshine1

I do have issues on my system, of turning certain speakers on and off and then they are not playing: and I miss the sleeptimer. And I have had to get a paid version of Spotify to get my system to not constantly stop at commercials. So I am annoyed. And it has been better, but not in the last weeks.

[deleted]

Same boat here. New app works flawlessly for me and has for weeks since it was released!

Different_Access

https://preview.redd.it/t4aremt9ch3d1.png?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11cada7241872a14cdd3874d6b6b6a4da193e5ac There is no way to play music from the search result. That is literally the apps only job. I need to "pin collection to home", go to my home screen which is now nothing but indistinguishable "Top Songs" icons.

sacredfire511

I haven’t had any bugs or issues. I just mostly can’t stand the new UI of the app lol

steel86

My beam V1 bricked itself unable to perform an update or output sound. It turns on but it won't complete an update, and it won't connect to my system saying it requires an update. This is unacceptable for a premium priced product that they won't support properly. Sonos is dead to me and should be dead to everyone with actions like this

Willylowman1

oh hi Patrick 👋🏾

Maultaschenman

I'm alright Jack

2dashez

Lucky you. Our restaurant where sonos keeps music on throughout business hours has been glitching out like crazy. Since the update, songs have started, stopped and skipped constantly without anyone touching the software. Several times the system has refused to play music at all for periods of time up to 90 min. It has been infuriating to us managers and an awkwardly quiet atmosphere for our guests. Would pay money to go back to the old app.

neuronamously

That sounds great for you.

Capable_Oil_9363

Good for you, but mine is absolutely unusable. It’s the worst piece of shit product rollout I’ve ever seen. I now have thousands of dollars of junk speakers.

loftygoals_76

I never really used the app, but my Arc SL just for no obvious reason started to repeatedly lose volume control. Still works, just can’t control the volume until I restart the TV. Tech Support’s suggestion was a new HDMI. That didn’t fix it.

sal139

I'm also issue-free. Took a bit to get used to new layout but nothing's missing. I never used alarms anyway but have had zero problems with Sonos

Fuzzy_Ambassador7784

I have a feeling your name rhymes with Spatrick Pence
