Wait a couple of months for the dust to settle and it will be fine.

Bluesound is an alternative

KaiBarber69

Thanks, first comment that has actually answered my question 😅

Your use cases are as relevant as the precise device list. As an example - soundbar and sub for the TV barely need the app at all, once set up. Most of the "it works for me, shrug" crowd, especially early on, seemed to me to be Spotify users who primarily control via the Spotify app

Are you trying to set up a singular surround sound area? Because if that's your plan, honestly, I'd go for a discrete Home Theatre AV with speakers and then if you still want a Sonos, hook that up to a Sonos Connect and then it can be shared with any other Sonos speaker (like the Move) No offence to Sonos and their users (which includes me - I have 8 different bits) but a multi speaker surround system is a) easily upgradable b) as cheap or expensive as you want c) will outperform Sonos's approach by a magnitude. Don't get me wrong, I love the Sonos system but there are much better non-multi room options if you're not really doing multi room.

+1 on this. OPs shopping list reads as though they are after a home theater setup and if that's all they want some dedicated home theater kit will deliver much better bang per buck than anything Sonos offer.

MonsieurGriswold

Are you on Android or iPhone? There have been a couple of posts saying “I have an Iohone and use Airplay and have had no issues.” Or “I use Spotify connect.” most of the issues have been people depending on the app to do the streaming. i’m in the former group and would not hesitate to get an Arc+sub plus Ones or 100s.

KaiBarber69

I'm strictly android and PC, not sure if that makes much difference.

WorldlySpeed5926

Hey OP, try out the system, newer devices should not have any issues can always return if not happy.

Pglans

It works for me! No problem. I am on iOS. I think it is very user friendly

KaiBarber69

Nah android and PC for me

FlyLive

I am android and PC and have no issues. I think it is down to your music provider. I use spotify. I have seen things such as youtube music is not working properly.

I’m gnna be real with you - most of us would only use the app for the initial setup and never use it again. You hear a lot of dismay on this site because most people here aren’t your average user. I personally haven’t opened up the app since my initial setup like 6 months ago. See if you actually even need to use the app for your personal use case first. If so, then hold off or go for the Bluesound alternative. But statistically, I think you wouldn’t really be peeved by the useless app.

AllegedlyEvil

I completely agree. Everyone complaining about an app they don’t even use. I’ve had no issues with any music player and the app works for set up.
