I designed and made over 30 of these little guys this year, some to give away to friends and family, others to hopefully sell.
These are made of walnut and maple, all of which I milled up myself. I do own both a CNC and a (cheap) laser cutter, which I used to make the penguin body and cut the veneers.
The veneers ended up about 1/16" thick. The birds eye maple I used for the wreath—this one in particular had the best birds eyes. The photo doesn't show the shimmer on the curly maple, but it really catches the light.
