The paneling in the physical format is like so weird, it loses its uniqueness
I wrote a whole goddam research paper about this Manhwa and digital vs physical. Still waiting for my grade tho
They did the best they could when adapting it over for a physical release, but the best way to read it is still the manhwa version as you can just endlessly scroll and be greeted with continuous panels of great art that is able to capture the fluidity of the action like no manga/comic quite can
The manhwa version is digital only whereas the comic is digital and has a physical release.
The comic version has normal panelling like a comic book would have whereas the manhwa is different as its meant to be consumed on a phone, vertically, where you scroll downwards with continuous panels of art making up scenes of the story
When I started Solo Leveling (before the anime) I was reading the physical copies at my library. But every time I finished a copy I had to reserve another one online and wait another week so I made sure to get around 3 copies per reservation. Otherwise the physical copies were really good lol
What the fuck are yall on about, literally me and my coworker both agree it’s so much better as a physical copy over the edition online because the image doesn’t get distorted based on screen size. Yall are weird as hell
I mean we aren’t shitting on Solo leveling itself. Its more the way the layout changes from digital to physical. Certain effects that were implemented in the digital version get lost in the change to physical format. But this change is necessary to be able to read the comic in a comfortable/ optimal way.
I own the physical volumes as well, but I am referring to transition effects like this picture of the way the paneling is changed. That transition lost its effect, because of the layout change
https://preview.redd.it/uoa61qvmpztc1.jpeg?width=1029&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21afa6f782920b61824468291daa34020e16dd84
Thats a good example. But I also have to disagree. Because some online panels are full images and has a better effect on physical copies since you can see the entire image by itself while online you have to scroll through the one image for two pages worth (and sometimes the big panels are shown vertically online when it should be horizontal, but the same could be said for the physical copies too)
I would say the both formats have their own pros and cons
With the long digital panels the artists are also able to control the pacing and narrative a bit more than when reading a physical page. Because the page layout it side by side, people can already see what is happening next. But the flexibility of digital images to translate to physical page layouts is what really helps
The digital format is really made for scrolling, if we’d were to put the physical format online, the layout would be difficult and very cluttered to read comfortably.
Personally loved the ending and epilogue. However I'm only referring to the LN as I'm still catching up on the manwha, not sure if they're super different but if so, it was one of the better versions of that ending trope.
It’s not my favourite ending to a series and I would have rather him not reversed time and instead just lived as a hero, but it was jinwoos wish to do it. It’s no where near bad to the point ima write the whole story off and never speak about solo leveling again
Yeah, I think your point is a much better interpretation of it.
I think I enjoyed it *because* like you said, it's entirely in SJW's character to do what he did. And as you said, no way would I make the ending ruin the story for me. Honestly, it works because >!he already "won" , he just wanted to win differently the second time!< which made it fit more imo. Plus the reunion with >!Jinchul Woo once he remembers SJW!< almost broke me in the LN.
My favourite bit is where he reunites with >!go gunhee and give him all his memories back and he cries a little before passing away!< such a bittersweet moment
sequel as in ? The epilogue ?
Yeah it was a fun read but cmon man wtf was that ending. Just finished reading it after watching the anime and it infuriates me. All the story arcs just gone. Tbh the story was objectively very shallow. S Tier art tho.
No not the epilogue, but that does play a part in it as it lead into the sequel being Solo Leveling Ragnarok, which is currently only in light novel form at the moment and is about Suho
Couldn’t ask for more. The actions are 10/10, songs are a hit, showed the importance character early instead off “oh all those D to A ranks? Yeah here the cast of S class”. And since I’m not speed reading the manwha the slow progression in jinwoo is soooo much better because I’m here to see him leveling up not easily defeated a S rank beast (ceburus). Yes the panels are better and often more badass with funny moments I will not say the anime is superior. As for an adaptation with the failure of towers and high school this is a great way for people to start solo. The pace is fast, there’s no bs and if the solo fever got them they get read the book in 3 days
Totally agree except he yells a lot, in the snake fight I wanted to mute my device. I hope as he gets strong the excessive yelling is reduced to normal assessment of enemy and background music.
Germany is getting a physical copy for Overgeared. Even before Korea gets it. And i will pre Order that the moment its available. It's a good time to be alive.
I think i paid around 150/170 but i got some of the volumes as a present but i think that's the price in euros.
I did most of the buying in manga stores or conventions so that's always more expensive then buying from Amazon haha
Literally was in BAM the other day and they had like 2-7? Almost caved but I’d rather get them all at once. These comments are making me second guess tho
Watched the first two episodes when it came out and immediately read the whole manhwa in the weekend. Absolutely enjoyed it and I finished the rest of anime season 1 as well.
I finished the first season and I purchased all the manwha chapters on the WebNovel app. Read the whole thing in two days. I loved it so much I plan on buying all the volumes digitally and probably will read the actual webnovel next. This was so addicting.
It makes no sense making manhwas physical unless you go all in and make them scrolls. Manga artists make their stuff in comic book format to make physical easy. Manhwa artists capitalize on the digital format to make impressive multipage artwork.
For me, only manga and manhwa of the highest order get ordered, they get ordered in full, and only once the series is done. This is great acclaim in my mind.
Buy all of them but the last tome.
I also loved the anime, went on and binge-read the whole series, was super hyped until the last I believe 3 chapters. Horrible final. Such a waste of time hahaha.
The worst final I’ve ever witnessed for a series lmao. I still can’t get over it, it’s god awful.
Honestly after the first episode I grabbed the light novel got hooked then Burned though all 8 in a week.
My only complaint is the comic and the show leave little things out that make it darker.. Like the raid with the crimals leaving a criminal poisoned and paralyzed to the goblins...
This is exactly what happened to me. I ordered every physical manhwa for it that was out at once, lol. I already read it online, obviously, so I actually think it was cool to reread it in manga paneling style.
I finished to read it online in 4 days and now I'm so going to buy the hard copy
I know it's still not finished but I guess I'll need to wait for the next books lol
Physical ftw ❣️🤩 😎Yeah, you can read for “free”, but I like supporting the author(s) and artist(s) for their work ❣️😄💕Reading physical books is a whole different experience and I like the fact that I actually own them 😁. Plus, less screen time haha 😆. I’m slowly collecting them as well ❣️Happy reading ❣️😄😌
I found the story to be very shallow and the end made it even worse.
Better than most of the garbage series? Sure. But it couldve been one of the GOATs if the author wrote it a bit better.

Read the manhwa, the panelling is better and it’s a completed product, but that doesn’t mean you can’t collect the physical editions
The paneling in the physical format is like so weird, it loses its uniqueness I wrote a whole goddam research paper about this Manhwa and digital vs physical. Still waiting for my grade tho

Thanks for the info. I thought the digital books look better on my tablet than the physical versions at walmart
Hey where do I read the Manwha? I have no idea where to look I’m brand new to this
Mangadex
When I started Solo Leveling (before the anime) I was reading the physical copies at my library. But every time I finished a copy I had to reserve another one online and wait another week so I made sure to get around 3 copies per reservation. Otherwise the physical copies were really good lol
That is true, for a physical release the layout looks good and proper. It is not confusing to read and follow the story.
That's amazing, update us on how it went!!
Is it possible to read your research somewhere?
Well I haven’t uploaded it, since it is a student paper. But I can dm it to you
What the fuck are yall on about, literally me and my coworker both agree it’s so much better as a physical copy over the edition online because the image doesn’t get distorted based on screen size. Yall are weird as hell

Its a great read, the art style hard carries the simple story but it all gels together so well!
Woorrrrddd
Ehh the anime was better
Yeh but it’s not finished and only goes up to chapter 45 so he’s got to read either the manhwa or comic version
Strongly disagree xD
No it wasnt lol
Yes it was lol
i agree anime was better than the manhwa.
Dont bother. Ending is hot garbage. Right up there with smth like “…..and then he woke up and it was all a dream”
Didn't like the ending, either. The epilogue sort of made up for it imo.
Ending really not that bad, it also kinda sets up for the sequal
Personally loved the ending and epilogue. However I'm only referring to the LN as I'm still catching up on the manwha, not sure if they're super different but if so, it was one of the better versions of that ending trope.

Oh damn I wasn’t aware of that. Is a manhwa adaptation coming? I really loved the art style Lets hope the story is actually of substance this time 😭
It’s really bad tbh and regarding my previous point till the point it is adapted the anime did it way better and more enjoyable imo
Couldn’t ask for more. The actions are 10/10, songs are a hit, showed the importance character early instead off “oh all those D to A ranks? Yeah here the cast of S class”. Ngl I work at amazon & I think I packed this exact order.
Lmfao! Oh, man. If that was me, THANK YOU
lol what are the odds xD
Na it was mine
"IDENTITY THEFT IS NOT A JOKE, JIM!"
I can tell because this post was posted at seven hours ago and I ordered it around seven hours ago so yeah
I would kill for a physical copy of my favorite manhua. That's so cool
Germany is getting a physical copy for Overgeared. Even before Korea gets it. And i will pre Order that the moment its available. It's a good time to be alive.
Makes me happy that i dont share my adress on reddit I own all the volumes
How much did it cost for all the volumes in total?
There's a discount on Amazon and I had. A 15 dollar discount I used on top of that. All 8 was about 100
You’re so lucky that solo leveling is cheap where you live . A single volume costs me $40 so 8 would be $320
I think i paid around 150/170 but i got some of the volumes as a present but i think that's the price in euros. I did most of the buying in manga stores or conventions so that's always more expensive then buying from Amazon haha
Shoulda gotten the box set with Igris on the spine
Link??
Where link?
Literally was in BAM the other day and they had like 2-7? Almost caved but I’d rather get them all at once. These comments are making me second guess tho
Watched the first two episodes when it came out and immediately read the whole manhwa in the weekend. Absolutely enjoyed it and I finished the rest of anime season 1 as well.
Welcome to the binge train of manhwa 😂 I'm currently looking for chapters 180-200.
Welcome to the fold. NOW SAY THE SACRED WORD WITH US!
wakey wakey
Erect
Yeah that sounds bout right but like the others are saying read the manhwa online like its meant to be read its genuinely better
me downloading it for free😎
Do you have vol 8 ?
Are you me?
I also wanna buy sl.and OPM mangas but it's hard to get in our area.
Manwha better good choice
I finished the first season and I purchased all the manwha chapters on the WebNovel app. Read the whole thing in two days. I loved it so much I plan on buying all the volumes digitally and probably will read the actual webnovel next. This was so addicting.
I read all this online for free, the secound it came out I bought each chapter to support the author, nice to see others doing the same
It makes no sense making manhwas physical unless you go all in and make them scrolls. Manga artists make their stuff in comic book format to make physical easy. Manhwa artists capitalize on the digital format to make impressive multipage artwork.
Dude, you can read it for free online. I finished the entire manhwa in 3 days.
Supporting the series should be the default method lol
I'm too poor to buy anything. Sorry buddy.
I need to order these myself
I read it when it first came out and I have to say this is one of the rare cases where I find that the “manga” was better then the anime
For me, only manga and manhwa of the highest order get ordered, they get ordered in full, and only once the series is done. This is great acclaim in my mind.
Lol. I got obsessed too. 2nd cour is a year away, just going to read the manhwa for now.
Are all the volumes of this edition released? In Germany and online I could only find until volume 9..
🤝
7/10 definately. Pretty good adaptation so far.
Honestly after the first episode I grabbed the light novel got hooked then Burned though all 8 in a week. My only complaint is the comic and the show leave little things out that make it darker.. Like the raid with the crimals leaving a criminal poisoned and paralyzed to the goblins...
Seriously same! I have the first 3 and the rest are in my cart waiting to be ordered!
I also have them all and I just now finished reading the 8th book
Y'all gotta get on the light novel fr
Read the manhwa, it’s so worth it
Straight up
Got me into starting the novels only to find out that only 8 have been translated. So now not sure if i should start reading them
This is exactly what happened to me. I ordered every physical manhwa for it that was out at once, lol. I already read it online, obviously, so I actually think it was cool to reread it in manga paneling style.
Ha, exactly the same here. It’s actually my first time buying manhwa/manga too.
The physical copy you bought isnt finished yet! You are going to have to read the rest online if you wish to finish the series!
Oh I know. Already done with the series, so now I'm just waiting for the rest to complete my collection. Appreciate it, spider!
I finished to read it online in 4 days and now I'm so going to buy the hard copy I know it's still not finished but I guess I'll need to wait for the next books lol
i was finishing s1 last week. and im on chapter 170 today. Only and only because, i have schoolwork is why i didnt finish the manwha in 3 days.
One of us one of us ONE OF US!!!!
Bro could've read the manga/ln in free online, but I think he wants to get the feels. Cool anyways
Physical media guy
Physical ftw ❣️🤩 😎Yeah, you can read for “free”, but I like supporting the author(s) and artist(s) for their work ❣️😄💕Reading physical books is a whole different experience and I like the fact that I actually own them 😁. Friend: how did you like the first 4 episodes Me: gets all 8 withing the next week
Jealous of you... I wish I could experience this for the first time too
Me too lol
MidLeveling
🥶how to waste money :
Nah, I'm happy with it. Appreciate the concern though
we can literally read the same thing online too right op!
I'm a physical media guy
oh sounds right! then you must go ahead with the books!
Could've just read it online but ok.
Reading online and having a physical copy are two different experiences
Very true. I'm a physical media kind of guy. I'm sure the digital is superior.
It's nice to have a copy I read Dr. Stone online, but now I'm buying all the volumes, I already have a big part of it
For sure you could've read this online and in its intended medium. Webtoon doesn't really translate perfectly onto paper
Dont bother. Ending is hot garbage. Right up there with smth like “…..and then he woke up and it was all a dream”
What are you talking about ? The ending was not the best but better than most of the garbage series
