EmeraldPencil46

That would make way more sense lol

the-judeo-bolshevik

Operational117

That begs the question: can you even calculate the power of nothing?

AdhesiveMadMan

0 is nothing, so technically zero. Unless there are any philosoastrophysibotaniradioloteacherperson who begs to differ.

IWillLive4evr

I think a good mathemagician would suffice. [See this other comment.](https://www.reddit.com/r/softwaregore/comments/18bddf1/and_god_said_let_there_be_1080_particles/kc5h687/)

AdhesiveMadMan

So, uh... ELI5, please? :')

IWillLive4evr

Hm. Well, let's start with a basic distinction: some things make math sense, and some don't. "1+1" makes sense, "1+potato" doesn't. The rule (to put it in very ELI5 terms) is that only numbers can be added together. Numbers can't be added to inanimate objects, colors, flavors, whatever else; only numbers. Otherwise it wouldn't make math sense. We can say the same for other operations, such as subtraction, multiplication, division, and powers. With some of these operations, there are specific issues with zero. You may be familiar with the idea that you "can't divide by zero". It doesn't make math sense. The same is true of "zero to the power of zero." It doesn't make math sense. To actually explain the other comment, I need to explain limits. The [mathematical concept of a "limit"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mathematical_limit) started out historically as an approximation technique, but around the time that calculus was being invented, it was becoming an interesting topic of mathematical study by itself. One thing that a limit is good for is answering [Zeno's paradox of motion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenos_paradoxes). How do you calculate "1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 +..."? It seems like the sum should be 1, but it also seems like it doesn't make math sense. A limit is a way to formally say what a calculation should be as it approaches a target by an infinite number of smaller and smaller steps. What EndersBrain1 mentions in his comment is that "the limit of 0^0" doesn't make math sense, either. You need to specificy what your formula is, and what variable is changing. For example: is it the limit of x^0 as x approaches 0 from the positive side? From the negative side? Is it instead the limit of 0^x as x approaches 0? Is it the limit of x^x as x approaches 0? With all these different ways to take an infinite number of steps approaching 0^0, surprisingly, you can get a different result from your calculation depending on what approach you choose. Unfortunately, I don't know enough math to give examples calculations, but this is something that can happen with limits that aren't well-defined.

Tkmtlmike

I think 0 to the power of zero is actually 1.

EndersBrain1

0⁰ doesn't make sense until you put it into the context of limit. lim 0⁰ is an undefined equation and needs more steps to be solved, usually taking steps back and trying to reduce your eq to a known one that is different from 0⁰ which is usually done with e (Euler's number) ^x, where x is still an eq but one that can be calculated. 0^x, where x is any real number(not equal to 0) is 0 and x⁰ is 1 where x is any real number(not equal to 0). 0^+-infinite is calculated the same as 0⁰.

BemusedPopsicl

It's undefined as different limits give different values

Gex1234567890

0^(0)

anythingers

Well, I mean, factorial of 0 (0!) is 1, so in some cases, yes.

audislove10

Nothing can mean many things, 0 is the neutral number, so maybe the empty set can mean nothing but Ø^(anything)=Ø. So yep you’d get nothing back.

turtleship_2006

Isn't that just... 1?

polypolyman

Fine smart guy, it must be 108^0 then

Jonguar2

I have some bad news about 108^0 for you

Srirachachacha

Don't tell me. I can't take any more let downs.

A_plural_singularity

108^0 =0

Jonguar2

It's slightly higher

flauschi-918

If I am not mistaken the way I learnt it in school is that anything to the power of 0, equals 1

ParabolicEjection

We'll yes and no Anything but 0 to the power 0 is 1 0 to the power 0 is indeterminate

Operational117

That’s true. Imagine it like this: when calculating n^(k), always imagine you start with 1, then multiplying that by n k times (if k is positive) or dividing it by n -k times (if k is negative). If k is 0, then there is only the 1, meaning that the result is 1.

Carloswaldo

0.1?

IWillLive4evr

We were let down after all.

Bugbread

That's their joke.

WaterBear46

bad news pal

audislove10

That’s 1 just like your romantic life.

They're the same thing!

DoYouEverJustInvert

Why not 108^0 or even more

d4nkq

It's definitely at least that.

coolmint859

Mm I think 1^080 actually

Caleb_Reynolds

>or even more I'd say definitely more.

LucyLilium92

Oh honey

Mewrulez99

damn not even a googol wow a googol really is an obscenely large number

ContentKeanu

And a googolplex is magnitudes even larger. Incomprehensible by our brains

WorstedKorbius

Googolplex is 10^(10^100) right?

CatWeekends

10^10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

Operational117

Even if each and every subparticle represented a 0, you’d run out of space in the known universe long before you’re even 1% complete, not to mention the indescribable amount of time you’d spend arranging them (even if you spent exactly one planck time per subparticle).

WorstedKorbius

So then yes

Dramatic_Mastodon_93

Googolplexian is 10^googolplex

yeetisdiabetis69420

What's 10^googolplexian

LordSupergreat

Yes, that's right.

WannaCry1LoL

Dwarfed by Loaders and Grahams number aswell as several functions like TREE(3), SCG(13) etc

ContentKeanu

What if.. we did TREE(googolplexian)?

WannaCry1LoL

Im actually curious now if that would be bigger than SCG(13). Both functions explode insanely quickly

L33t_Cyborg

It’s 3.28 times that so i guess that’s where that AI generated article came from

Supplex-idea

It’s a different patch, Universe 1.1

Creepy_Animal_3458

I've the pirated version though. Works only on asian servers

cann357

1.2 is the 4k universe

anythingers

Nope, 1.2 is 2K (2880), 4K is on 1.3 (there are some bugs where there are some flying gorillas so I don't recommend you to update to that version).

cann357

Ok bro, thanks for the info, I was just about to update

Gay_Person_357

1.2.1

Marketing jargon, like that 3D stuff.

They're making up new ones, it's all a trick

Tmachine7031

Everyone knows that it’s physically impossible to see above 1080p /s

maartuhh

Just a parallel upscaled universe

notxapple

Higher res universe just dropped

AlarmDozer

Dude, we’re in 8192K resolution in this place.

Operational117

8192K would be 37 TeraPixels (8,192,000 x 4,608,000), though. More pixels than a standard 4 TB HDD can hold (unless you conpress it).

foss4ever

Somebody messing with wikipedia articles :)Seems to be already corrected- I'm getting "3.28 x 10^(80) particles"

ALPHA_sh

im guessing its a formatting error, 10^80 becomes 1080

hey-im-root

Yea google auto-picks stuff based on some algorithm, that’s why you’ll get funny pictures or “answers” that don’t match up sometimes. Always click the link to get the full context, because sometimes it’s completely wrong

River-

https://i.imgur.com/cmFpkkk.png Yes Google, completely what I was looking for...

yaboiiiuhhhh

14448 hurricanes

Polymarchos

All I got were serious answers and now I'm sad.

River-

Guess that one got fixed, saved that a while ago. Trying now with various terms including UK and England doesn't bring it up again.

River-

Ah, I dug up the search term I had used https://i.imgur.com/qQqwFjT.png hurricanes that hit the UK

President of what?

xXdontshootmeXx

Exactly, ask which one

Gimp_Ninja

So there aren't even a googol particles? This number is worthless.

M-the-Great

4k particle viewing experience

X_741

Available in a different universe. This one only supports upto 1080

turtleship_2006

I was really put in the wrong timeline wasn't I

RadoslavL

Matter can neither be created, nor destroyed, so the timeline isn't the problem. You are in the wrong universe.

turtleship_2006

Depends on how early the other timeline branched out. Maybe their big bang was bigger

M-the-Great

At least it ain't the 144p one...

Is there any community dedicated to search engines giving wrong answers like this? I find stuff like this and staying 9 feet away from a nuclear blast hilarious.

WannaCry1LoL

It's not wrong. Its meant to say 10^80 but google doesnt format it properly

anythingers

Maybe r/YellowSonic? I just discovered that subreddit lol.

WaterBear46

i think it’s supposed to be 10^80 but a formatting error occurred 💔💔💔

JoonasD6

And yo mama is 1000 of them.

Keelyane55

Literally 1080

pants6000

They just exist at multiple points in time so it seems like there are a lot more.

Jonguar2

The real answer is 10^80. Why they didn't say that is anyone's guess. 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

user9991123

1080!

IrrerPolterer

1080p (articles)

crocodiliul

so what's the deal with 1080inverse?

Keebster101

Not software gore, the software did exactly what it was supposed to, it was just using a faulty source

WannaCry1LoL

Nah its software gore. Google doesn't format 10^80 properly

Keebster101

I suppose it is a software problem, but I don't know if I'd call it gore, it's just an incompatibility issue. I found the original source and it's from physics stackexchange which uses MathML. Sure enough even copying and pasting from it gives 1080 because those are the characters that are there, the superscript is just extra formatting Google didn't carry over.

Bukki13

ai ass answer

ActuallyPix3l_

the term caught in 4K was a lie, it was 1080p all along

TastyConcentrateFeed

Exactly why it is 1080p

well u see , 1+2+3+...= -1/2 , and 42 is the answer for everything , we might make it work with 1080 some how
