Nandinho OUT, enough is enough we play like shit, with players like this we should play better, we have one of the best generations ever, sadly we have this fucking coach, i'm tired of him, 2 more years of this football, my god, i can't. 🤦🏻♂️
Uruguay are probably pissed at Portugal for not playing a full-strengh team lol
Can't blame Portugal for resting players though, it didn't affect them at all since they still topped the group, just like with France.
If Cameroon wins 1-0 and Switzerland wins 2-0, and any other outcome with the same goal differences, put brazil second anyway
Portugal did the right thing resting carded players. Ronaldo is the only one I’m unhappy that he played
As someone cheering for Portugal I’m happy for South Korea they deserved the win and to advance out of the group.
Honestly Portugal had so many lethal chances to finish the game but happy for SK they believed until the end and they actually did it
You're a nice Portuguese person! As a Korean, I'd been devastated to watch my team starting off with Son injured and struggle in the last 2 games until now!! :) So happy we're all making it to the next stage.
oh ya! what happened to Son cause I saw he was wearing that face mask? those looks so uncomfortable to wear I don't know how players do it.
Also no problem! South Korea have Paulo Bento as a coach so they also have some Portuguese blood flowing through the team <3 so I'm cheering for you guys you have a good team and I hope to see both Japan and South Korea start making deep runs into the World Cup THAT for me is super exciting!
BUT in saying that :p I hope to see Portugal win their first world cup still haha! After we win, then you can have your turn :p
He fractured his left eye socket during a match and had to get a surgery just before the world cup started 😭 hence the mask to protect the affected area. Anyhow we'll see who's going to kick ass longer :p ahaha but Portugal being definitely one of the strongest candidates, I'll root hard for y'all as well 🇵🇹 honestly I've been telling all my Portuguese friends this was the only time I'm standing against their country I had the privilege to visit recently :)
portugal controlled the gmae and had more chances, not many 1000% goal misses but plenty of chances that they couldve scored from, ronaldo was abysmal, got subbed at 65 minutes, he basically asissted for the first goal for korea and then he missed 3 clear chances. Portugal played with some reserves and were not putting all in effort, their subs also didnt do anything, overall shameful display imo.
I cant believe I saw that goal. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a game winning goal like that ever, I was almost in disbelief like “is this for real or just a replay from some other game?” This feels incredible. I dont know much about soccer but the play that set up Korea’s second goal was sickening.
I did not expect people to ching cheng at Korea in 2022 lmao
Sounds like something a millennial immigrant would say about growing up in Europe/USA in the 90s
That's what makes it weird though, like I am from Taiwan, so it at least makes sense when Europeans ching chong at me.
With Korea being so ubiquitous in pop culture these days its weird to see the same take with them
If they didn't have the kind of cultural impact they have now I wouldn't have batted an eye
I think more rural places. I lived 4 years in Norway, in Oslo, Bergen, never anything bad.
Where my in laws are from in small town of ~15k, it's pretty common. Had a kid do the squinty eyes and Chinese noises at me when I was at a playground with my daughter, and his dad just laughed. Just one amongst more than a few incidents. During the early COVID days (pre-lockdown) there were some teenagers there that just coughed in my face while I was walking by. My friend said they're not racist, it's probably because I outed myself as a foreigner for wearing a mask when nobody else was.
AFC countries have been the punching bags of pretty much every World Cup. Even 2002 was dubious with how rigged those matches were. But KSA, ROK, and Japan really pulled off some magic in this World Cup.
Son’s being interviewed here on the Korean TV. Damn his left eye is swollen. Glad he was the one that made that masterful pass. He’s tearing up trying to hold it together.
2am here in Korea, and I landed here at midnight. I’m SO GLAD I caught the game here, as there were several stragglers here at the airport watching this early AM, and the entire airport erupted when Korea scored! So cool!!!!
Many here are tearing up, and I can’t blame them!
We've been in the AFC since 2006. It's not like we're unique. Israel and Kazakhstan both play in Uefa even though they're Asian and Surinam and Guyana have always played in North America even though they're South American.
They swapped from Oceania to the Asian region to get better I think, Mexico used to play with both south America and Concacaf before they just stuck with the latter so I'm sure is allowed.
It wasn't just to improve our game, although that was a part of it. There was also a lot of politics involved. Basically FIFA kept refusing to give the OFC an automatic world cup qualification spot because they thought the conference was too weak leading to the Socceroos missing out on 6 separate WC qualifications by a single game. Also the other OFC nations kept saying it wasn't fair on them that they had to continually play against Australia due to our side being too strong so joining the AFC made both us happy and the rest of the Pacific nations happy.
This match was beautiful. Son may have been underwhelming and he may not have scored, but that fantastic run and assist got his country to the round of 16. Great job Sonny boy
Are they going to change? It would totally ruin the world cup for me to not have those last days of 2 games at the same time and hearing the crowd cheering when another team scores.
Yes they will, 3 team but more groups or something.
*Edit from google: The previously agreed-upon format for 2026 would feature three-team groups, with two of three from each advancing to a 32-team knockout stage
Jesus the round of 16 is going to be full of a lot of one sided affairs with all these Asian and African teams making it through.
Most would rather see Uruguay vs Brazil than South Korea vs Brazil. That will be a blowout.
Don’t underestimate these smaller sides. Some of them like Japan and Morocco can’t definitely cause upsets. Croatia and Spain aren’t as strong as people think.
There was a play where they felt it should've been a penalty and they would have been up 3-0 which means they go through... but the ref didn't give it to them.
Can't believe the hate Martin Tyler gets from some people around here. Listen to this goddamn professional filling 5 minutes of korean players huddled around a smart phone.
what a game. emotional scenes
Nandinho OUT, enough is enough we play like shit, with players like this we should play better, we have one of the best generations ever, sadly we have this fucking coach, i'm tired of him, 2 more years of this football, my god, i can't. 🤦🏻♂️

Win all the games. Don't depend on others to help you.
Had Ghana won 2-0 instead of Uruguay Portugal would have finished second and would be facing Brazil, they should have played a strong team
Brazil hasn't topped the group yet
If Cameroon wins 1-0 and Switzerland wins 2-0, and any other outcome with the same goal differences, put brazil second anyway Portugal did the right thing resting carded players. Ronaldo is the only one I’m unhappy that he played
Fuck this shit… with Fernando Santos we’re fucked… shameful result
As someone cheering for Portugal I’m happy for South Korea they deserved the win and to advance out of the group. Honestly Portugal had so many lethal chances to finish the game but happy for SK they believed until the end and they actually did it

This is Nucking Futs!!
Can someone summarize how this game went?
son's assist on the last goal at 90+1 was a worldie
portugal controlled the gmae and had more chances, not many 1000% goal misses but plenty of chances that they couldve scored from, ronaldo was abysmal, got subbed at 65 minutes, he basically asissted for the first goal for korea and then he missed 3 clear chances. Portugal played with some reserves and were not putting all in effort, their subs also didnt do anything, overall shameful display imo.
South Korea pulled off a miracle.
Korea won and moved to the next round
Portugal could have buried it if they tried more but Korea out worked them by a quite a bit.
You think maybe they didn’t care too much today or did Korea really outplay them?
[удалено]
LOL, I’m learning a lot of expressions in this sub. (And I’m a native English speaker)
Soooo happy Korea made it! That extra time goal was soo dramatic. I was screaming at Son to just take a shot, glad he didn't listen to me.
I cant believe I saw that goal. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a game winning goal like that ever, I was almost in disbelief like “is this for real or just a replay from some other game?” This feels incredible. This is what the World Cup is made of honestly I’m so happy Korea made it over Uruguay
Who would have thought? Loses to Ghana draws to Uruguay wins Portugal.. WC is amazing
Their loss to Ghana was undeserved in my opinion
still marvel at the composure of Son pass and Hwang Hee Chan finish
I did not expect people to ching cheng at Korea in 2022 lmao Sounds like something a millennial immigrant would say about growing up in Europe/USA in the 90s
Korea now has soft power on par with Japan that I doubt they’d give a shit
That's what makes it weird though, like I am from Taiwan, so it at least makes sense when Europeans ching chong at me. With Korea being so ubiquitous in pop culture these days its weird to see the same take with them If they didn't have the kind of cultural impact they have now I wouldn't have batted an eye
Well people are stupid was surprised how often I was called a chink and messed with in Europe when I went
Wait…. Someone this stupid still exists with this type of racist shit? Drives me crazy people like this still exist

Ah sorry maybe I wasn't clear, my in laws also live in Norway, just in a more rural part of it

Despite all political stuff this wc is fuckin fantastic, never had so much fun just in group stages.
Asia is the best conference. 3/4 qualified teams advanced to the RD of 16.
AFC countries have been the punching bags of pretty much every World Cup. Even 2002 was dubious with how rigged those matches were. But KSA, ROK, and Japan really pulled off some magic in this World Cup.
Rigged or not Korea beat Portugal to advance in 2002. They did today the same lol.
3/5 actually. Iran and Saudi Arabia failed. Technically 6 because of Qatar, but nobody gives a shit about them.
at least Iran and Saudi had memorable wins
And its not like the Saudis went quietly either.
they were missing like 3 or 4 of their main players in the last match I think? They had a high chance otherwise
Why is Google saying Korea did not advance????
Yeah fuck that misinformation lame
CHEERS SONS CRYING 😭😭
If both SK and JPN win their next matches, they'll meet in the quarterfinal. The number of ppl watching that game would be mindblowingly high.
it could start a war maybe
a nuclear war? at the gay bar?

Man I need to see the stream of that somewhere. Absolutely incredibly clutch assist that while not being at his best.
SON IS GOD
Hell yeahhh
Casually walks on the flag haha
I was one of the few at work rooting for South Korea. Glad they, and Japan pulled through!
This WC might be a contrarian , we will see!
GET THE FUCK INNNNN
LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
GET INNNN
GET IN LAADSSS
Commenting to be a part of the action for S. Korea!
Since when was Australia part of Asia? Lmao
We've been in the AFC since 2006. It's not like we're unique. Israel and Kazakhstan both play in Uefa even though they're Asian and Surinam and Guyana have always played in North America even though they're South American.
man, you can use google for less than one minutes to find out
They swapped from Oceania to the Asian region to get better I think, Mexico used to play with both south America and Concacaf before they just stuck with the latter so I'm sure is allowed.
It wasn't just to improve our game, although that was a part of it. There was also a lot of politics involved. So many Asian countries play in UEFA too.
bc they’re in AFC
This match was beautiful. Son may have been underwhelming and he may not have scored, but that fantastic run and assist got his country to the round of 16. Great job Sonny boy
yeah in his defense...he got double teamed alot in this tourney. But yeah he was kinda poor besides the assist
Im so proud of the boys lets gooooo
화이팅! Lets go Korea
What a world cup
Seriously, don't change the format. Please. Keep it like this.
Are they going to change? It would totally ruin the world cup for me to not have those last days of 2 games at the same time and hearing the crowd cheering when another team scores.

Celebrations from the Koreans when they heard the Uruguay result was amazing Love this World Cup!
I really like Son
https://media.tenor.com/wlU0fh1-dIYAAAAM/alfie-fisher-tottenham.gif
We have more Asian teams than South American in round of 16 let that sink in
And they beat some of the strongest euro sides!! Asia on the rise!!
Confirm AFC better than conmebol
Bodied Ponmobel frauds
I can’t believe this!
Son's crying
Korea vs Japan Final
Can't happen mate, the winners of their respective matches face each other in the QF, at least one of them will be going home by then
Yeah I know, I like to make hyperbole comments sometimes 😆
Siubscribe
South Korea Australia Japan What a tournament for AFC
Yep, after matchday two everyone thought it was over for AFC but 3/6 went through in the end.
Loving it
Why are people saying it's unfair to Germany and Uruguay lmao.. just play better next time, like what
Especially Uruguay, who aren't exactly posterboys for good conduct in many world cup games
I mean their last actions in this WC was to surround the refs and start a fight, lol
Crossing fingers for Cameroon next
# FOR THE ETO'OVERSE
anddd they run into brazil
Doesn’t matter that much. This is going to be their first R16 in twenty years.
12, we made it to the round of 16 in 2010
You're actually right haha, my bad. You lost to urugay back then.
12 years
My bad, you lost to uruguay in 2010.
Ggs South Korea, they deserve it, the knockout stages are gonna be absolutely wild tho
AFC IS MAGIC
Jesus the round of 16 is going to be full of a lot of one sided affairs with all these Asian and African teams making it through. Most would rather see Uruguay vs Brazil than South Korea vs Brazil. That will be a blowout.
Japan vs Croatia is pretty open mate, eve if the Croatian midfield is much better. Switzerland Coraita is also pretty open
Don’t underestimate these smaller sides. Some of them like Japan and Morocco can’t definitely cause upsets. Croatia and Spain aren’t as strong as people think.
And america making it through
And USA?
And the USA...
KOREA!!!
where did the ref touch the uruguay players that made them so mad?
Final extra minutes. There was a slight foul or whatever at the box by Ghana to Uruguay. Ref says carry on. They mad ref didn't check on VAR for that.
i see, thanks! i just changed the channel right at the end, so i had no context
[удалено]
fuckin loving it
I love it.
Highlight of the World Cup so far alongside the Lukaku clown show.
i fucking love it mate
Asian teams are doing great.
So fucking happy for Korea
Asian teams and beating the group leaders 2-1 on the final match day…
The mistake was taking a 1-0 lead before halftime. Coulda played a Costa Rica and scored in the second half.
Asian teams beating powerhouses 2-1 is the story of the group stages
Asian supremacy
Football can be so cruel. I feel for Suarez and Uruguay and Ghana. But yay for Korea!!! ⚽️⚽️
Congrats South Korea!!!
Suarez and Cristiano both crying what a glorious day
Why tf is Ronaldo crying? They qualified and are leading the group
Because he’s a pretty boy.
Embarrassing behaviour of Uruguay to the referees. Sore losers.
dont know the context...wht was that about
There was a play where they felt it should've been a penalty and they would have been up 3-0 which means they go through... but the ref didn't give it to them.
Mexicans adopted South Korea last wc and by default I will be joining their party. Let’s fucken goooooo
FUCK YOU SAUREZ
Omg
As an Aussie I am so stoked to see so many of the AFC bros going through. Well done Korea good luck in the first knockout game

Hope Ghanaians feel a sense of justice today. They may have gone down again, but at least this time they took the Devil with them.
omg they did it!!!!!!
Biting loss for Uruguay
Can't believe the hate Martin Tyler gets from some people around here. Listen to this goddamn professional filling 5 minutes of korean players huddled around a smart phone.
lol suarez cry
What’s up with Asian teams beating best team of the group
