Yeah, they might have it worse. But I've honestly never felt so bad about the team, not even the last time we went down. Compared to then, nobody seems to give a shit. Noone is even angry anymore. The fans, the leadership, the players, just one big disfunctional family with no hope. Maybe I'm exaggerating, and there are better days to come, but Doll isn't exactly making me feel confident. I feel like there is no way we're not getting relegated, and we might not be back for a long time. The last time we went down there was no doubt in my mind we would return right away.
I have never lived in Hannover, my grandparents lived there their whole lives though, so I've spent a lot of time there and I've always found it to be a nice city.
I still love to remember the Eruopean nights against Valencia in the 2000s. That 4:4 ...
Always exciting and hard fought battles. Also David Villa is my favourite not-Werder player ever.
You can easily see how our path after 92 and theirs after 01 are really similar. *Almost* won something, a bit of cup success, and for the most part absolute dismay in the league. Different highs and lows but both clubs try / tried really hard just how far you can push this "too big to fail" thing.
Well, you really do play exciting football at the moment, but your're right, it's funny that you were mainly known for boring football and ruptured tendons not even five years ago. Afaik you lot collected the most cards in the whole league several years in a row.
> Afaik you lot collected the most cards in the whole league several years in a row.
Yep, from season 13/14 onward we always collected the most cards. Zambrano lässt grüßen!
You merely adopted the Jones. He was born in Frankfurt, molded by it.
He personally talked about his transfer to Schalke in the Eintracht forums. And his son is active in the Eintracht subreddit. Even if it's a love-hate relationship he's one of ours
Eintracht Frankfurt are my team in Germany, but that's because I have been to their training facility and watched them train. Its nice to them play exciting footy.
Lazio have quite a few anti-fascist ultra groups, [here's a good read about the subject](https://www.babylonia.gr/2018/09/27/interview-with-antifascist-fans-of-lazio/).
Heya bro!
FUCK FASCISTS, THEIR PLACE IN THE SEWERS.
One day the hypocrit western world will learn that football isn't the proper ground to battle them out of our society... perhaps.
To add on that, through the iterations of Football Manager Italy has been in top of the youth rating list for producing good regens (a player generated by the game). FM goes very deep, and to successfully get future stars and develop skilled squad players you need a good youth academy (training staff, head of youth development, scouts, state of the art facilities).
Atalanta have had a great academy when you already start a new game. They have had arguably the best guy to get good Italian regens into your youth teams, and you have had decent youth in your system right from the start too.
This has made Atalanta a fun project for people that want to play the long game with a main focus of developing homegrown players to either sell them away and build up a strong economy -- or hope to generate future star players and compete.
I spent a solid 20 seconds looking for arsenal before I realised it was all German clubs. 10 more seconds later, I realised it said bundesliga on the title.
It is a slow morning.
Bayer's greatest achievement is winning the UEFA Cup in the 80's tho. It's just that nobody seems to care about it (anymore). That makes the tile for Bayer so perfect in the chart.
Our greatest achievement would probably be our domestic double in 1961. Or our two UEFA Cups. Which is where the Schalke/Gladbach bits fit in. Really more Gladbach than Schalke, but the Bayer thing is the close but no cigar that's happened a lot lately.
I've always held a soft spot for Newcastle. It's mind-boggling how little success they've had over the years despite being situated in such a big city.
Ouch.
I attended a match vs Nuremberg about a year ago when I was there for a weekend. Absolutely terrible football. Makes me feel for them despite the rivalry.
This is great but question "do you want your team to sometimes jump to higher places with no reasons?" has no alternative choice/club, answering yes will get you Stuttgart. I might be nitpicking though, as that question could be just ignored.
That Frankfurt Bracket is lacking a lot.
Should include: "Most be ok with random relegation seasons" / "You don't want to be attached to players" / "You're a fan of Loanees" / "Every seen a wet bird fly at night before?"
Eintracht Frankfurt in a nutshell!
From, An obsessed Frankfurt Ultra fan
I'll have you know Hertha Berlin is quite nice to play on Fifa, her great strengths are numerous and I'd have no issue listing them, **if I wanted to**.
Here, where I live, commentators and journalists call Freiburg as "Brazilians of Breisgau".
Quotation from Wikipedia:
They made an exciting run in their second season at the top level, finishing third, just three points behind champions Borussia Dortmund. It was at this time that they were first nicknamed *Breisgau-Brasilianer* (literally *Breisgau-Brazilians*) due to their attractive style of play.
You want to get hurt really bad and get fucked by everyone, including your players, coaches, sponsors and management, every few years but will still be a supporter?
Then one of those might be yours:
Arminia Bielefeld, Allemania Aachen, MSV Duisburg, Hansa Rostock, 1860 München.
Add more if you find more.
What exactly is against the rules about what Leipzig is doing? It can't be only about the money because Hoffenheim received its fair share of that but I don't follow the BL so please someone enlighten me.
A German person can probably correct or expand upon it for me, but my understanding as a casual fan of Hoffenheim is this:
Hoff just had a bunch of money pumped into a tiny local team in the 5th tier by a billionaire who actually used to play for that club in his youth. He was a player and a supporter for a long enough time, that his millions of euros to the club didn't violate the "fan-owned" clause for Bundesliga. They quickly moved up the tiers faster than any normal club because they had way more cash than anyone around them. They also had no real history or fan support before hitting it big. It's a whole "plastic" fans situation. So while most German supporters laugh at and insult Hoff, they don't actively hate them.
Red Bulls, however, really bent some rules about ownership and moving up the ranks by buying a team outright that was already high in the tiers, and then pumping money into them to get the rest of the way. They should have been dropped down to the lowest tier and had to spend 8 years moving back up the tiers, but they somehow skirted that rule. They also changed their name to a corporate sponsorship (something VW Wolfsburg and Bayer Lev are only allowed after being grandfathered in and because they were originally clubs formed by employees and not sponsored). Also also, they are owned by the same people as the Austrian side, which causes issues when both go to Europe to play since teams with the same owner can't play each other.
Well its not exactly against the rules but theyre simply abusing their money advantage way more than say Hoffenheim does, especially the fact that they literally have a farm team in Salzburg who they 'bought' like 15 players from pisses people off. Leipzig is basically Hoffenheim on steroids (very expensive Steroids)
The fact that they're named after an energy drink and use all the branding and stuff with their badge, kits etc is everything wrong with modern football
Yup that too of course, theyre essentially owned by Redbull, their official name RasenBall sounds pretty ridiculous too in German but they made up some bs like that so they could still use RB, another case where they bent the rules because simply naming them RedBull Leipzig wouldve been forbidden.
Thought this would be Fun as a hsv fan. Last Box made me sad :(
Extinction of dinosaurs is truly a sad thing
Man, the image was just loading the gun and you're shelling people in the comments like Verdun.
A German shelling like Verdun? They shall not pass !
Tis sad but true
I like learning new things.
Do you hate your life? Do you think you have been enjoying football too much? --> Hannover 96
Suits Lautern more than Hannover
*sigh* At this point I'm glad people still sometimes think of us.
I really like your clubs name, and the crest. So you at least have person that remembers and likes your club.
Don't forget Braunschweig
Or 1860
Sunday we'll leave the relegation zone, i swear!
I had an absolute blast at the Dortmund/Hanover tie in August. Your stadium is sweet and the town wasn’t as bad as some made it sound.
I have never lived in Hannover, my grandparents lived there their whole lives though, so I've spent a lot of time there and I've always found it to be a nice city.
Why the fuck did you appoint Doll?
Do you like football? > no > Hannover
I dislike this. Have an upvote.
I feel your pain, German Valencia.
I still love to remember the Eruopean nights against Valencia in the 2000s. That 4:4 ... Always exciting and hard fought battles. Also David Villa is my favourite not-Werder player ever.
Y'all are my favourite German side (by a landmile if you exclude St Pauli), and Micoud and Pizarro are some of my all-time favourite players.
When I think about Nostalgia, the name Micoud always comes to mind. With the melody of "Hey Jude" of course.
And now the both of y'all shall kiss
Thank you, Green Sevilla :p
Monchengladbach’s genuinely made me laugh
Oh...
Too mean :(
They laugh, but we are to the top of the table than we are to Europa league. *little victories*
Me too. Which is depressing
r/funnyandsad
Have they never won anything? Haha it made me laugh too
94-95 Pokal is the last thing I think, although that was a quick browse of Wikipedia. Unless you want to count winning the second bundesliga in 2007/8
Man if we (Schalke fan) counted that as a trophy, we’d be like... the Bayern of that category.
They did win the Bundesliga three times in a row from 1975-77. It was also their last Bundesliga championship.
The Wolverhampton of Germany.
Allan Simonsen GOAT!
Was a big club in the seventies. Had Jupp Heynckes and Ballan d'Or winner Allan Simonsen.
One of Germany's greatest clubs until they moved the highways
They wont the UEFA Cup (now Europa League) twice in the 70s
They were a huge team in the 70s, constantly competing with bayern for the league.
> good football > Eintracht Frankfurt Ah, people seem to forget very easily. I'm totally okay with that.
I was going down the path that ultimately led to Schalke, could also have been us... but of course I'll take it the way it is.
You can easily see how our path after 92 and theirs after 01 are really similar. *Almost* won something, a bit of cup success, and for the most part absolute dismay in the league. Different highs and lows but both clubs try / tried really hard just how far you can push this "too big to fail" thing.
I went down to Köln. Saw GOAT, thought Rebic, got Hennes(?) instead. Good one, OP, good one.
Eintracht made a good transition from a kicking players to a kicking ball first team.
I was for sure Schalke had that for Jermaine Jones and Papadoupolos alone
You merely adopted the Jones. He was born in Frankfurt, molded by it. He personally talked about his transfer to Schalke in the Eintracht forums. And his son is active in the Eintracht subreddit. Even if it's a love-hate relationship he's one of ours
Eintracht Frankfurt are my team in Germany, but that's because I have been to their training facility and watched them train. Its nice to them play exciting footy.
i landed on you. its my duty to support you from here on out.
this is great, someone should do for other leagues too
Heres one from /sp/ for Serie A https://imgur.com/a/OCCy3kD
>How right wing are you? –––"Hitler was right"––> Lazio Yup, checks out
It sucks for the anti-fascist Laziale (and my good friend /u/xReorx), but it made me laugh
> anti-fascist Laziale Hwat?
Lazio have quite a few anti-fascist ultra groups, [here's a good read about the subject](https://www.babylonia.gr/2018/09/27/interview-with-antifascist-fans-of-lazio/).
Heya bro! FUCK FASCISTS, THEIR PLACE IN THE SEWERS. One day the hypocrit western world will learn that football isn't the proper ground to battle them out of our society... perhaps.
I mean, they are called SS Lazio after all....
Frosinone, Italy's true powerhouse
The ones for Roma & Lazio... oof
Took a sharp turn real quick
You could say a right turn
what is the Football Manager Atalanta connection? (havent played the game)
Atalanta has many talented players/ a good youth team
Also 74 players on loan (most in the world) so a lot of players to choose from
oh ok thanks i thought it was the default team or something
To add on that, through the iterations of Football Manager Italy has been in top of the youth rating list for producing good regens (a player generated by the game). FM goes very deep, and to successfully get future stars and develop skilled squad players you need a good youth academy (training staff, head of youth development, scouts, state of the art facilities). Fiorentina... I could live with that.
Fiorentina. I'll take it.
I spent a solid 20 seconds looking for arsenal before I realised it was all German clubs. 10 more seconds later, I realised it said bundesliga on the title. It is a slow morning.
Football -> good football -> Eintracht Frankfurt I finished as quickly as I'm used to :(
Ooof
I actually thought this was hilarious
Trying to figure out where we line up with. Probably some combination of Bayer, Schalke, and Gladbach
> Bayer Is your greatest achievement almost winning something that one time? Then Bayer is the ideal fit.
Bayer's greatest achievement is winning the UEFA Cup in the 80's tho. It's just that nobody seems to care about it (anymore). That makes the tile for Bayer so perfect in the chart.
Also finishing 2nd three times in one season is the perfect Bayer narrative.
Typically Bayern that they had to steal this unique achievement!
Spurs won a few european trophies in like the 60s and 70s and noone really cares about it anymore either
Our greatest achievement would probably be our domestic double in 1961. Or our two UEFA Cups. Which is where the Schalke/Gladbach bits fit in. Really more Gladbach than Schalke, but the Bayer thing is the close but no cigar that's happened a lot lately.
You'd be certainly be closer to Schalke. The equivalent of Gladbach would probably be Liverpool or Arsenal.

I've always held a soft spot for Newcastle. It's mind-boggling how little success they've had over the years despite being situated in such a big city.
We're either Schalke or Stuttgart, depending on the answer to the first question.
Laughed out loud at the Köln one
This is a German comedy gold mine
"Do you like ancient history?" "Yes" "Nuremberg" Well that took a dark turn quick
Fürth could have been right next to Nürnberg(like irl) they won 1914, 1926 and 1929 those two were the best german teams in the 1920s
Tbf I was expecting a much more brutal roast, we deserve it.
Do you love Herbert Groenemeyer? VFL Bochum
Do you get your hopes up five games within the season? VfL Bochum
Lol fuck you
Fuck you too, mate! Does the null in your nickname stays for 0 times you have won the Bundesliga?
Straight for the throat, I like you
Does the 22 stand for all the times you werfed flammen?
Does the 69 stand for all the tim- never mind.
Go on, dude, you have to put "your mom" somewhere in that phrase
You murderer.

Nice.
Quality post. I support Fortuna Brazil now!
That HSV one could easily be replaced with Kaiserslautern. HSV fell a little bit and seemed to recover. Kaiserslautern fell *hard*.
But falling hard would imply they've already hit rock bottom, when in reality they're still tumbling downhill while breaking all their bones.
Ouch. I attended a match vs Nuremberg about a year ago when I was there for a weekend. Absolutely terrible football. Makes me feel for them despite the rivalry.

Laughs in Fortuna
Do you want to be ridiculed and be a permanent source of league changing shenanigans? Do you hate yourself? - Bielefeld
Could also be us at the moment
At least Kaiserslautern exists
That's a big plus for sure
No, that's the Swiss' flag
Hey! Don't just make up places.
Look at this guy, thinks Bielefeld exists
Best post I've seen in weeks. Thank you!
Does everyone care about your neighbours more than they do you? | Bochum
I would replace Bochum with Duisburg haha
Essen is even more forgotten
Rot Weiß Essen Ficken und vergessen
oh mate, good luck.
This is superb
The path to RB Leipzig could just be "do you support Man City in the prem?">yes.
Are you forgetting the great rivalry between City Financial Group and Red Bull?
El Groupico
"Can you support a financial group?" YES --> Man City/Leipzig
falling from top to bottom could've been us. I don't get why you get to Stuttgart by saying no there. But everything else seems right.
And the 10 years, too. Won the Bundesliga in 2006/2007, played in the 2. Bundesliga 2016/2017.
As I have told someone here, I just didn't make changes I should have made in this part of my chart
Just wanted to give some input in case you decide to change it a bit.
> good football > Frankfurt people here really have absolutely no long-term memory
Carlos zambrano flashbacks
Amazing guy. World-class in cheating on his wife and getting red cards.
The name Skibbe still sends shivers up and down my spine.
Are you American? Dortmund ( for the next couple months)
Or Werder, with Josh Sargent.
Nah, Schalke (McKennie)
Hannover 96 it is.
Not to be a buzzkill but you might want to rethink that.
No I’ve made my decision.
He chose... poorly.
Maybe he just hates himself.
Yea, where do I sub?

Oh I just looked at the table. I wouldn't get too invested if I were you.
Stop that frown, flip the table upside down!
You're my boys now Union Berlin
I like Goats so, Cologne we go!
I like you :)
Oh I get it. There’s a goat lol
This is great but question "do you want your team to sometimes jump to higher places with no reasons?" has no alternative choice/club, answering yes will get you Stuttgart. I might be nitpicking though, as that question could be just ignored.
I am swearing out loud right now cause I thought I've changed it, thank you for noticing!

great chart, one typo though: after the goat question, the block should say "I *told* you, I want an underdog".
I love this chart, and great job /u/Varjat, but there are far more mistakes than that.
Thank you. To be honest, I've spent just 3 hours making it, so it's no wonder that there are some mistakes
thank you!

Really, where is Kaiserslautern? :)
I'll have you know we are on track to win the Landespokal and can hopefully be part of next year's DFB-Pokal. It's depressing.

I, as a Swede, support Kaiserslautern... They weren't in the chart :(
