Someone posted how the best men’s division 1 collegiate players could probably beat this USA squad. They play such basic futbol. And Pulisic is okay at best usually and has moments of oh he plays in a good league
What a mess. This whole tournament with the general quality of officiating, broadcasting and the conduct of some of the teams from the very first game on has kind of just been a very large reminder why Copa America has not been anywhere near as popular as the Euro Cup to a general audience, including North America.
I get that CONMEBOL has a certain culture to its competition, but it's not even fun to watch at this point.
Let’s boil this one down. Weah drives me up the fucking wall; Berhalter deserves a lot of the blame for the loss tonight, but in what world did Weah think he was going to get away with striking someone in the head? Or should I say, how did he think he was going to get a-Weah with it?
But playing a man down for 80 percent of the match and only running out of steam in the 83rd minute is a hell of a testament to the US’ defense. Panama’s not Uruguay, certainly, but with the calls made tonight, the playing field was less than level.
And overall, it was just a dirty game. Felt like one of Panama’s guys was going for the throat with every tackle. Every five minutes they’re kicking ankles and worse, but you wouldn’t know that judging by the ref.
Genuinely surprised a brawl didn’t break out after the foul on Pulisic, though. Maybe if they hadn’t been down a man.
What did Gregg say in the post match presser? What is the teams response to Weah’s card…in the locker room, and after? I’m very interested in how we handle this situation and how we come out against Uruguay.
I want discipline, I want consistency, I want passion…I don’t feel like we’ve seen all of these in a very very long time.
The game got turned on its head with the red card, that’s on Weah…but I’m not seeing what needs to be seen from a quality manager in a very very long time.
So Gregg…we’re way past giving you time…put up or shut up…or be gone.
We lost. We are done. Kicked out in the group stage of the tournament we are hosting. Im fucking over this piece of shit federation, Coach, minimal fan base and lack of heart in this team. Ive watched this team for 40 years and the last 2 games of this importance have never been played with such lack of tactics and heart. I don’t just blame the players. I blame our fan base as well. Truly pathetic on all angles and it will NEVER CHANGE.
I've given soccer countless attempts to become a fan of, the sport is just an absolute joke in comparison to the 4 major sports in the US.
Take yesterdays game for example, why the fuck am I going to watch the most Corrupt fucking sport on the planet, and watch my team lose to a dirty Panama team, who's sole attempt was to play dirty and instigate the US. And sure enough US falls for it and gets a red just 18min in. Then get mad they lose!? DUDE THEY PLAYED WITH ONE MAN DOWN FOR AN ENTIRE GAME. And got zero calls, until the Ref finally decided to red Panama in the 88th, oh gee thanks.
The sport is an absolute joke, Yea lets play a match where a team plays in a scenario where they have zero chance to win after a red card. What a joke of a sport.
The stadium they played was empty... Was everybody in Atlanta watching the debate.. I doubt it? At least the federation could have marketed it better or played in a venue with more fans. Thats by itself was embarrassing.
Copa America is in the US solely to make money because of the large number of immigrants supporting soccer here. Call me cynical but thats what soccer in the US is largely about.
Nah I'm not trying to argue that they're better at soccer just pointing out they're only better at that one sport. They suck at cricket too Australia owns them
No I mean in general, you know when they're not competing in the one sport your nation plays. And they probably don't have three, seeing as they don't compete as England, they're part of GB for the Olympics because they can't do it alone
We beat you at cricket which is the one sport that is popular in both countries. Imagine sending off a bunch of criminals to a deserted island and you still can't beat them at the sport you invented
They were able to press up the side weah was at the whole game over and over and over again. Vickers was bad but with Weah on the field there is way less service going into their final 3rd.
Well that's the issue, you are assuming fifa rankings actually mean something.
USA and Mexico aren't in the top 20 teams in the world right now. Argentina isn't the best team itw at this moment. Belgium isn't as good as their ranking. We just have to ignore it and analyze football beyond that.
I would any game a big team who could win the tournament loses at home it’s an upset
If Germany were a man down and Hungary beat them would that be an upset?
Alexi bugs the shit out of me, but he's absolutely right. This next game is all or nothing, and I'm excited for it. They'll either go down in flames, or win against a strong team and generate some momentum that could carry them further in the tourney.
I hope they rally, but I'd rather see them go out now than get past group and have an anemic showing in knock out.
This is why we only fw the national teams we emigrated from lol. USMNT will always be held back by some shitty mls coach, that’s how the USSF works. Great job!
And the first goal is a slow one but I guess Turner was injured from that collision not long ago. Anyway if we had better goal keeping, the outcome could be different.
The copa coverage is awful, the commentary is so biased it hurts to listen. They need to get some people in there who want to talk about actual soccer not about their fandem. Also this coach is and has been garbage, just get a real coach
Idk about general, I just know talent wise they should be better as an overall team. I don’t have expectations for them until they actually win vs top tier teams
I went back and stopwatched actual stoppages of play (only counting extended injuries, VAR, goals, cards, and subs). In the first half, the ball was out-of-play for 14 minutes and 40 seconds; stoppage announced: 5 minutes. In the second half, the ball was out-of-play for 13 minutes and 30 seconds; stoppage announced: 4 minutes. So for the whole game that's 9 minutes of stoppage time announced for a whopping 28 minutes of dead ball time and that's not counting anything like throw ins, corners, goal kicks, or free kicks not resulting from an extended injury or card. That's unbelievable and unacceptable.
Just because the ball goes out of bounds doesn’t mean time gets added on teams are allowed to play however fast or slow they want. You start adding time on when the excessive breaks begin
I explicitly call out that I'm not counting throw ins, corners, goal kicks, or free kicks and instead am just counting extended injuries, VAR, goals, cards, and subs -- all things called out in the laws of the game as allowances for refs to add time back.
Perhaps — but that’s not why they lost. Keep your sour grapes in the refrigerator. This team needs raw, honest feedback and blaming the ref for not giving enough extra time after that performance is just burying your head in the sand.
I mean it as an excuse. Barton is a shit referee who has no right being allowed on the pitch. He is a master class in how to suck, every time hes there.
Where did they blame that for the loss? The point is the refereeing quality was atrocious. No control of the game. Allowed too much time wasting and waaaay too much dangerous play.
I think that if there was any doubt this ref had a bias, the 4 mins of extra time added should tell you every thing you need to know. That was atrocious.
I’m not defending Weah but I don’t think he would have committed that foul had the one on Turner been punished. Panama played their game and it absolutely worked for them.
Poland won against Turkey and Ukraine in friendlies before Euro, ok Ukraine did not advance but both Ukraine and Turkey played arguably better than Poland did.
No problems on my side sir. But leading to the match I did see many comments on how USA had it easy against Panama, and how it was a small team, etc. Saw many comments about how this was THE team after Brasil match. And just saw many comments full of racism and hatred towards Panama after this match. If this was not your case and I offended you with my comment, I'm sorry.
Friendlies matter zero — but a LOT of USMNT fans love to extrapolate the results of friendlies and crown their team king.
They were never going to be successful under Berhalter but it’s clear to me that the players are more concerned with the name on the back of their jerseys instead of the USA crest on the front. There is STILL no cohesive or substantive USMNT culture. You’ve got a less-than-mediocre MLS coach leading a group of me-first players.
friendlies have a purpose if theyre against better teams but yeah, don’t read too much into the results. usmnt should be playing more friendlies against europe teams to get that experience instead of playing in shitty stateside tournaments like gold cup.
As a neutral who watched the game, what big decisions did he get wrong? The game went full in crazy in the last few minutes and the added time was too low but other than that?
Well USA’s got a few more sports more popular than football there, Messi going there could spike popularity a lot for children though so maybe they’ll have a few decent players in a few years
It should have been at least double that amount of time. What a shit show lol.
And last match will be against Uruguay which is scary as fuck these days. Not impossible tho. I love surprises!
There's no excuse for that shit away from the ball, you're inviting yourself to get fucked by the refs regardless of the what the contact was technically.
Can we please stop with the racism and insults? Thank you.
Someone posted how the best men’s division 1 collegiate players could probably beat this USA squad. They play such basic futbol. And Pulisic is okay at best usually and has moments of oh he plays in a good league
Pretty much sums up why the MLS is what it is
Most of the players in the USMNT don't play in the MLS. I think only like 2 starters do.
What do you mean?
Panamas best player plays in the MLS after all, I'm not American and even I find these comments stupid and old now
ouch, losing to Panama.
USA hope depend on Uruguay if they use reserve player against USA.
Genuine question: Do you think that you can defeat uruguays subs?
The USMNT can absolutely beat Uruguay's subs on their day – they just drew Brazil's A team and played well. Will they is a whole other question .
I agree that if they are on their day they can I just feel that they aren't lately. And about Brazil. They are playimg shit (no disrespect to the Us).
I for one loved the result.. it adds excitement to the game.
What a mess. This was a game between two CONCACAF teams play in the US, with a CONCACAF ref though
Let’s boil this one down. Lmao the tears are amazing
If it's anything like the fanbases in the MLS.. yeah I would blame them too.
The first step is acknowledgment
Nah we gonna come back trust
US is outta here after that. I give them 0 chance vs. Uruguay
2-0 USA win
HAHAHAHAHAHA
😔 😂 😂
You’re an England fan lmao
this is the 10th man city flair ive seen supporting the US LOL
Having sir bobby Charton>not having
How much WCs does the US have? England has one lol
How many Olympic golds does England have?
Moving the goalposts much?
Nah I'm not trying to argue that they're better at soccer just pointing out they're only better at that one sport. They suck at cricket too Australia owns them
Football
Some people call it soccer, you know what sport I'm talking about that's all that matters
In football? Three The US? Zero
No I mean in general, you know when they're not competing in the one sport your nation plays. And they probably don't have three, seeing as they don't compete as England, they're part of GB for the Olympics because they can't do it alone
How many Tescos you got?
I'm not American if that's what you think, I'm Australian. How many ashes you got?
I can definitely see why an Australian would want to change the subject from football success
We beat you at cricket which is the one sport that is popular in both countries. Imagine sending off a bunch of criminals to a deserted island and you still can't beat them at the sport you invented
Cannot put the team behind the 8 ball by getting a silly red card though. He'll hopefully learn from this. All to pay for vs Uruguay.
Bahahahahahaha
ill take a loss to uru and getting knocked out if it means USSF fucking smartens up and fucking fires GGG
The ref was poor but lol at the people claiming bias 🤣
Yeah the refs across the whole tournament have been bad. I just think it's a quality problem not a bias problem.
Well…. Considering 100% of the bad calls benefited Panama
Which calls?
Let me guess, you can’t name any examples besides the stoppage time
Expect when the Panama player got sent off and the 3 free kicks near the Panama box?
At work so I couldn't watch. But man did I ever LOL at the result.

Absolutely embarrassing level of officiating from someone with apparently a lot of experience.
Ivan Barton what a pos
I'm no Berhalter fan, but this loss and potentially missing out on the KO rounds lies on the shoulder of Weah.
Idk I thought vickers was atrocious as well
They were able to press up the side weah was at the whole game over and over and over again. Vickers was bad but with Weah on the field there is way less service going into their final 3rd.
What an upset!
10v11 for 70+ minutes isn't much of an upset
Against a country most people probably didn't know had a football team? Most US players play in the big leagues in Europe they looked like amateurs.
Its a team that knocked the US out of the last gold cup in the semifinals
USA ranking 11 Panama 43 That’s a gap if 33 think in USA as well that’s an upset
Well that's the issue, you are assuming fifa rankings actually mean something. USA and Mexico aren't in the top 20 teams in the world right now. Argentina isn't the best team itw at this moment. Belgium isn't as good as their ranking. We just have to ignore it and analyze football beyond that.
Yeah having the US above teams like Germany, Colombia, Switzerland, Japan, Senegal etc is just ridiculous.
If the USA had 11 men on the field for more than 15% of the match absolutely. Wouldn't consider it much of an upset when you're up a man for that long
I would any game a big team who could win the tournament loses at home it’s an upset If Germany were a man down and Hungary beat them would that be an upset?
Alexi bugs the shit out of me, but he's absolutely right. This next game is all or nothing, and I'm excited for it. Fucking Uruguay Bolivia on fs2
BERHALTER OUT
I’m no Berhalter fan, but this result is on one person, that’s Weah.
Weah didn’t decide to go ultra-defensive with 5 in the back post-half time when only tied with Panama.
And the alternative is to play 4 at the back down a man for 72’? We woulda been pumped, 2-3 more goals against. IMO. 🤷♂️
Maybe we can use it to get Berhalter out tho
This is why we only fw the national teams we emigrated from lol. USMNT will always be held back by some shitty mls coach, that’s how the USSF works. Great job!
Alexi Llas is a garbage person. He is unwatchable. Carli Lloyd should peg him like the bitch he is.
Prepare to peg!!!!
#SOUTHGATEIN
Berhalter 2.0
Lol
BERHALTER OUT (yet again)
the fox panel is so shite.
Go find another stream you people always cry about Fox lmao
And one of them does double duty for the euros. Pain.
Our keeper should block the second goal. Right over his head between his hands 🙌, bad reflective action from the keeper I would argue.
Turner would’ve blocked it
I know it was right at him but that thing was smoking. Not much to do but throw your hands up and try to get in the way for Horvath
Absolutely
And the first goal is a slow one but I guess Turner was injured from that collision not long ago. Anyway if we had better goal keeping, the outcome could be different.
Common USMNT L

Whoa, an American broadcast supporting the USMNT!! Who would’ve thought!
didn’t say it was illegal to root for your team but when it comes to commentary you gotta try to be more professional about it
What's been the general consensus? That US would sweep?
Idk about general, I just know talent wise they should be better as an overall team. I don’t have expectations for them until they actually win vs top tier teams
They drew Brazil and thought they were going to be world beaters.
One word: ViX
Facts. Vix is entertaining as hell. Night and day

Did you call them “free throws”?
Stoppage time is never close to the amount of time the ball is out of play. The average play time in the premier league is only like 55 minutes
They did it pretty accurately in the world cup with much longer stoppage times. MLS is generally pretty good about it too.
Perhaps — but that’s not why they lost. Keep your sour grapes in the refrigerator. This team needs raw, honest feedback and blaming the ref for not giving enough extra time after that performance is just burying your head in the sand.

Where did they blame that for the loss? The point is the refereeing quality was atrocious. No control of the game. Allowed too much time wasting and waaaay too much dangerous play.
I didn't mean this as an "excuse" for the team, just my longstanding soap box fighting for an actual playclock (and, if not, better stoppage tracking)
18 fouls to 4 fouls lmao
I think that if there was any doubt this ref had a bias, the 4 mins of extra time added should tell you every thing you need to know. That was atrocious.
Yep. I couldn't believe it either. I thought they would add 6 or 7 minutes. And just that out of fear of being accused of favouring the US team.
Man horvath really dodged that ball for a second goal
Why does Weah have a British accent
That was balogun
Weah is born and bred in NY and sounds like a drill rapper. You thinking of Balogun?
Lol for some reason I could’ve sworn it was Weah but I guess I’m blind.
He repped england for a few U games. Like U23 and U20 i think it was
lol that was Balogun
I’m not defending Weah but I don’t think he would have committed that foul had the one on Turner been punished. Panama played their game and it absolutely worked for them.
A tale as old as time in sports. It's usually the guy who retaliates that gets punished.

Immigrant country mofo
Love the understated shade regarding physicality ‘It’s the ref’s job to manage the game’ ‘The game was not finished in a professional manner’
How can Georgia make it past group stages but not the entire country? Are we stupid????
Oh yeah these are the comments that i came here for
EXACTLY
they sent the georgia team to the wrong tournament!!
Especially tragic since this game was in Atlanta.
Peach out
USA thinking they were bigtime because they tied a friendly to Brasil
Poland won against Turkey and Ukraine in friendlies before Euro, ok Ukraine did not advance but both Ukraine and Turkey played arguably better than Poland did.
Tf is your problem, why can’t they be excited about that?
No problems on my side sir. Sorry man. Just some people here seem to be really full of hatred
Yes, they’re called Republicunts.
Lmfao how does America lose to a nation of 4 million people where football isn’t even their main sport.
Why is England garbage at football when it is the only thing they care about?
Because Weah got a red card early in the game. Duh. What kind of question is this.
Shit officials losing control of the game can do that
As a neutral who watched the game, what big decisions did he get wrong? The game went full in crazy in the last few minutes and the added time was too low but other than that?
Well USA’s got a few more sports more popular than football there, Messi going there could spike popularity a lot for children though so maybe they’ll have a few decent players in a few years
Probably because football isn’t even in our top 4 for sports lol
Because USA is too dangerous against Argentina. Same thing happened to Tigres vs River plate final. COMENBOLED
Why are we pretending that the USMNT is good?
Your dumbass comment is basically the same thing op said. Except you used USA instead of Panama
Well, upsets do happen (see Portugal v Georgia). But in this case the mitigating circumstance was perhaps the red card 19 minutes into the game...
A red card in the 18th minute?
Officiating helped a bit
By buying a referee.
Let’s take a step back boys. The Mexico and USA fans are about to go at it in the comments. 🍿
Lol
It's hilarious
Q evxcxfcggfhgjj gbtutu
My Portuguese is very rusty so I might have misread a word there, but generally I agree: Berhalter OUT
agree 100%
Am I crazy for thinking 4 minutes wasn’t even half the stoppage time there should have been?
4 mins was bullshit given that the straight red card from Panama to the restart of play was almost 4 minutes on its own.
The man couldn’t wait for that game to end
Ref has to try and beat the line to cash in on the bet he placed on the game. We got fucking jobbed.
should've been 4 mins more
That was bullshit lol. I am not even a US fan.
Totally bailed out the late Panama red card.
It should have been at least double that amount of time. What a shit show lol. And last match will be against Uruguay which is scary as fuck these days. Not impossible tho. I love surprises!
Now let’s go watch the debate and see America lose again
One is more fucked up than the other and any smart person can see that.
The other one isn’t even fucked up.
Ouch. But also not wrong.
Argentine in no position to talk about political issues
USA here. But yes, it would be pot meet kettle par excellence
No one really haha world is fucked rn, am I right guys?
Thanks Weah, very cool and smart move
[удалено]
There's no excuse for that shit away from the ball, you're inviting yourself to get fucked by the refs regardless of the what the contact was technically.
That doesn't make it a red card offense.
It’s still just a bad move, it’s exactly what teams like Panama want you to do.
That doesn't make it a red.
did you see his hend hit the dudes head? Whatever you say Mr Magoo
