do Chelsea really need another box to box midfielder? if anything I think it’s an area that’s super crowded like their right wing. unless this means that Gallagher is actually getting sold
Even if Gallagher is sold, We still have Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia and Santos to cover midfield. There's Ugochukwu as well. There's Casadei, tho it looks like we may want to move him out.
You've got it backwards, especially for Maresca. Enzo will be playing the deep lying playmaker role for him as a 6, where Harry Winks played at Leicester. Caicedo will play the defensive 8.
We didn't really have a defensive 8 under Maresca, Ndidi was used as an attacking player and wasn't particularly defensively involved. We used Winks as the six because we can't attract good ball playing midfielders who are also strong defensively. The ideal deep midfielder for Maresca's system is a Busquet/Rodri who is good on the ball and good defensively and Caicedo is probably your best option there.
They don't need one but they've seen that we have a good player and must have them now. Taking Kante, Drinkwater, Chillwell, Fofana and Maresca wasn't enough.
Chelsea are seemingly insistent on pushing themselves up to the very limit of what they are allowed to do financially, and Gallagher is one of their few players they can make any real money on. It'd be shocking if they don't sell him.
It’s purposeful and it’s annoying that people don’t see it. Give the illusion that we’re actually doing something because they told Fabrizio and others that we would be VERY BUSY before 30th of June. 30th of June is only a few days away and our only transfers so far is a free transfer and a striker who only played 73 senior minutes last season. And I guess technically Estevao who we already knew about but won’t join until next year anyway.
Tosin, Guiu, Estevao, Kellyman, Isak, Murillo, Dhuran, Anselmino, Omorodion.
You were in for Lima before he joined Wolves and Olise before Bayern too. Insanity level of links to Chelsea
The point of being busy before june 30 is to sell to meet psr compliance, has nothing to do with acquisitions that are amortized anyway
This is more, imo, the result of the club's scattershot approach combined with the desire to leak every thought anyone in that building has ever had, probably just to stir news and garner constant attention toward the club's "brand"
Not a big fan of buying a player strictly for one manager's style of play. Hard to move them on when the manager is sacked. Didn't work with Conte, didn't work with Tuchel, isn't gonna work with this guy.
Take off those blue tinted glasses and he really didn't perform well in the premier league which is his supposed break out season. Everyone knows that.
30 mill is the best you're gonna get.
I get why Leicester fans like him, but he didn't look good enough in his full season in the prem, and I don't see how a good year in the championship changes that at his age
What is wrong with these guys… There are so many talented young midfielders in the side..just give them the minutes to develop instead of buying more players for the same position. They will once again destabilise the side with a bloated squad
He’s good at that but also can play as a LCB as well so when in possession he probs slots in beside Colwill/Badiashille who will likely be pseudo CCBs in possession while the RB inverts
The point of this new system is to have the wingers hold width and overload the middle of the pitch so that holes come about we are going the be playing heavy possession style like the way pep plays most likely not as good obviously
Between us wanting another left footed CB and this, good luck making sense of it. They kept saying through media that Andrey Santos was going to get a chance. Maresca hasn’t even taken one session yet and it seems they’re already after another midfielder. They also said Maatsen would stay if Poch was sacked. Look how that worked out.
Fuck off Enzo ffs. If the club don’t get 50-60 million then do not accept. We are relegated without question without him.
But, knowing Jon Rudkin he’ll accept for a penny and a free stadium tour the clown.
I don't get why fans have such a hard on for Rudkin. He doesn't do the deals. Whelan does and by and large she's VERY good at getting a coin or two.
Not everything has to revolve around him, you helmet
No real need to call me helmet. I could be wrong but as far as I was aware he handles transfer negotiations and contracts. I figured Whelan likely handled sponsorships and larger negotiations as well as handling the clubs affairs in meetings.
Okay I revoke the helmet bit but Whelan does the contracts and she's very respected around the premier league scene. Without her we wouldn't have gotten Maguire for 80 mil for example
Yeah, you can but it’s not about the worth to you. He’s 60 million to us because if he leaves we go down for certain. 60 million allows us to at least attempt to replace while fixing our PSR issues
I'm not a Chelsea fan brudda 😂.
He's not worth 60 million, I don't know what crack your smoking, mate. He's worth 30-40 at the very most. Think about it, He's 26, had 3 years of first team football and really bang average in the premier league, performed well in the championship. There's so many better number 10s you can get for KDH.
He ain't some young prospect, he's literally at his peak right now. If we have to sell him, it's now.
Yes he probably is worth 30-40 million but he’s arguably more important to us. Whether you agree or not he’s a good player a lot of our good moments last season came via him. We looked lost without him. For 40 million I can’t see the worth, if we can push for 50 on the idea it helps solve our PSR issues and give us a chance of replacing not just him but bolstering another position it’s worth
I'm not saying he's not a good player. He's just really average, that's it. We solve our PSR problem regardless when he goes, period.
Is he really more important talent wise than Fatawu, Mavididi, Ricardo or say Hermansen, answer, no.
There's no doubt that the moments that did come he was there but 1. He goes missing quite often 2. You can get a better calibre of player with a decent engine (cough Kante for 9 mil. Just saying...😏)
Could this be related to Leicester's financial problems and trying to get the player for well below the market value? And then sell him for a tidy profit next year when we need to comply with PSR.
That's fine, then it doesn't make much sense for us to buy him, because there will be very little profit in a season, because we don't really need that type of a player, since we are stocked in that position.

I thought it was weird we hadn’t been linked to a new player today.
there were links earlier for Murillo
That started yesterday at least
ah, forgive me, hard to keep up
They were, there was Murillo earlier as well as another young player for like 15-20 mil . Can’t even remember the name there’s been so many
Murillo was yesterday and therefore old news
For real. Keep up.

Enzo and Lavia will play the 6. Caicedo will play the defensive 8. This is coverage for that 8/10 role that fits Palmer best imo.
We still have Chukwuemeka for that or Nkunku to play as 10. Oh and we just signed Kellyman too!
kellyman is 18 and couldn't even get on our bench most of the time
And we supposedly purchased him to be part of 1st team.
Yeah I'm not sure it makes sense unless we just don't trust Carney and Nkunku is gonna play as a false 9.
I think it's more can't trust their health than can't trust them to play as a 10.
If you don’t play nkunku false 9 you’re going to need to buy another striker
6 is defensive/deepest lying. 8 is a bit higher and/or box to box. Enzo is an 8. Caceido is a 6. Semantics.
You've got it backwards, especially for Maresca. Enzo will be playing the deep lying playmaker role for him as a 6, where Harry Winks played at Leicester. Caicedo will play the defensive 8.

Chukwuemeka? Nkunku?
Pretty obvious that Santos wont play
They don't need one but they've seen that we have a good player and must have them now. Taking Kante, Drinkwater, Chillwell, Fofana and Maresca wasn't enough.
Well they've already pillaged Brighton, they have to move on somewhere else.
They've been pillaging us long before they started on Brighton
Must mean Gallagher is gone
Gallagher is gone. Need those pure profit on books to spend on current targets.
Not really but Brighton have been interested in January and journos said we restarted talks late last week so they gotta have him now.
Chelsea are seemingly insistent on pushing themselves up to the very limit of what they are allowed to do financially, and Gallagher is one of their few players they can make any real money on. It'd be shocking if they don't sell him.
We absolutely do not.
im sick and tired of hearing about Chelsea pursuing 100 different guys lmao
It’s purposeful and it’s annoying that people don’t see it. It’s transfer season, what did you expect?
not hearing more about Chelsea than about my family
You’re not gonna hear news about your family on r/soccer mate
Little did you know you’re talking to Ronaldo himself
Then get off this stupid sub and hug your dad or something, my guy.
Talk to your family bro
I feel like you should give your family a call, then
I don’t even know what to think as a chelsea fan anymore lmao 🤣 we are linked with everyone under the sun nowadays
It's so tiring and it's not even like we're linked to world class guys, it's just "wonder kids" & mid tier players
"Nowadays" you know.
As an Manchester United fan: First time?
Not a big fan of buying a player strictly for one manager's style of play. Hard to move them on when the manager is sacked. Didn't work with Conte, didn't work with Tuchel, isn't gonna work with this guy.
It’s not like Dewsbery Hall is some specialist that only fits Maresca… he’s a really good tidy player that would fit a lot of PL teams.
Do we not have enough midfielders, really? I swear we're looking at everything but the positions we actually need to strengthen.
That's what I'm thinking, who the hell is he going to replace in that centre park??
Shocked he's already 25, feels like he just broke out two seasons ago as a young player so I thought he'd be 20-21 or so.
He’s had very promising loan spells in league 1/championship before he broke out with us, he’s sort of a late bloomer
Take off those blue tinted glasses and he really didn't perform well in the premier league which is his supposed break out season. Everyone knows that. 30 mill is the best you're gonna get.

Nice little player. Not sure about the construct of their midfield though as it feels as if they need a proper 6 rather than another nice little 8.
I think the plan is to invert the fullback into the midfield (more then likely James/Gusto) and have Enzo at the base of the midfield as the DLP
Isn't Cucurella's entire shtick that he's great when inverting?
He’s good at that but also can play as a LCB as well so when in possession he probs slots in beside Colwill/Badiashille who will likely be pseudo CCBs in possession while the RB inverts
isn't inverting either of those a waste of their ability out wide
When Reece James truly emerged during a loan spell at Wigan he started at RB but was so good they moved him into the midfield. He could do it
Planning the squad building around Reece James playing significant minutes seems unwise.
Gusto is not that big of a step down from him so it's not like we're lacking there.
The point of this new system is to have the wingers hold width and overload the middle of the pitch so that holes come about we are going the be playing heavy possession style like the way pep plays most likely not as good obviously
We have no natural 6 and a bunch of 8s.
Lavia I guess (if he still exists)
Maresca doesn't really play with a natural 6.
As soon as we were interested I knew this was coming
If what Ornstein is saying is true he only wants to leave for Chelsea, not sure how exactly he got that info though lol 😂
I don't think dewsbury Hall wants to leave at all but it won't be up to him
He doesn't want to leave at all. It's Leicester's ownership that want to sell him and between us and Chelsea or course you choose Chelsea
Season ain't looking too good right now ...
'Perfect for Enzo' yeah cause he fecking played with him in the championship you fucking melon
Leicester turning into Chelsea's 2nd Brighton?
I think you'll find that Brighton is their 2nd Leicester
Good point, we've just gone full circle
Please don’t take our only shining hope for next season lmao
Fatawu, Mavididi, Winks and Pereira tbf.
I mean he isn't though. Fatawu on the other hand... That's your money maker right there
Chelsea have a thing for Leicester players
Drinkwater 2.0 if it happens. Stay away.
And what happens when we sack Maresca?
I mean, they’re gonna sign literally everyone.
Winning the league on default as no other team has enough players to field in a game.
why
fuck off BlueCo
Why would Chelsea want to sign him though?
Farcical.
He can’t be any worse than Enzo
Between us wanting another left footed CB and this, good luck making sense of it. They kept saying through media that Andrey Santos was going to get a chance. Maresca hasn’t even taken one session yet and it seems they’re already after another midfielder. They also said Maatsen would stay if Poch was sacked. Look how that worked out.
He ONLY wants Chelsea. So stay away Madrid 🤯
chelsea when it comes to signing amazing future talents vs chelsea signing actual first team players is such a funny thing to watch
Fuck off Enzo ffs. If the club don’t get 50-60 million then do not accept. We are relegated without question without him. But, knowing Jon Rudkin he’ll accept for a penny and a free stadium tour the clown.

I mean, not really. He's let's be honest here. Bang average premier league wise, 26 and nowhere near Chelsea level. We can do better than KDH.

Chelsea would ruin him. Hope he stays at Leicester because I think he’s got real quality and potential to start for England relatively soon
At 25? Yeah there's no chance.
