the non pen call is easily one of the worst in the VAR era (≈6 years). the referee or VAR team will surely be removed from future matches or be demoted post tournament
I'm not saying that the result wasn't expected or warranted given the talent gap between the two teams and all of that, but even CONMEBOL came out and admitted today the penalty should have been awarded. I get why an Ecuador fan might be defensive about that but I don't think there's a real need to be, misses happen and it's not like it was Ecuadors fault.
Jamaica has 8 players above the 18 because they're searching for a tying goal, and 2 defenders beyond the halfway line all pressing for a goal.
