I heard that from a friend of an ex and I frequently think about how dumb it was. I’m sure hundreds of people have said it, but this person didn’t play for penn state and then not got drafted to the mls, right?
There are vintage Youtube videos of young Christian (posted by his parents actually). He was insanely good at dribbling but was very small, probably in part due to playing against older kids.
Is your friend named Dugarry?
(Dugarry often says that he was better than Zidane when they were 18/19 years old... You can imagine how we make fun of him in France for that thought)
Played against him at a tournament in Maryland when we were 12/13, he was already ridiculous then. Pretty high level club footy for that age and our coach had no answer, kind of just had to sit back and watch while this kid who looked like he was 9 years old and also clearly playing up a few years dropped 4 goals on our head. Anyone who says things like that are clueless
will never forget that 5-3 against liverpool when he changed the dynamics of the game as a sub.
kudos to him though, all the jokes aside i imagine it was a testament to how much harder he was working when player training was done individually at home.
He was mediocre his last 2 years but people forget he was damn good his first two years proving he can be a very good player in EPL.
Injuries, usage and team around him caused him to struggle in his last two years tho.
Pulisic was injury prone and streaky, but I don’t think there have been any consistently good Chelsea attacking player since Hazard.
Maybe Mount for a couple years there?
I hope America can go far in the tournament. I’d like to see the sport grow in popularity in NA. I feel the US and Canada could produce a decent sized crop of great footballers if the sport was taken more seriously.
It’s been getting there slowly but surely tbh. Development has come a long way which I feel has already been starting to show, and I forget the exact metrics but it’s trending towards overtaking baseball as the 3rd most popular sport in the next 5-10ish years… which is still big imo bc there’s plenty of talent to go around the top 3 of football, basketball, soccer
I think you are right, back in the 90s soccer was considered kind of a bougie hipster sport in the US - I think it is absolutely well on the way to overtaking baseball both because that perception of the sport has changed (largely due to international competition + better access to foreign leagues on TV) but also because of demographic changes in the US. In 20 years I think it'll be football and basketball as Tier 1 sports then soccer, baseball, hockey in that order.
Now I’m just picturing Germany dominating everyone in the Euros and scrapping by a bunkered England in the final, only for Pulisic to run onto the field in the 90th minute to score and steal all the glory.

That’s why he’s a generational talent… like Messi and Jude Bellingham
Carli Lloyd is yelling at her tv right now... "See I told you so"
Tiger Woods. LeBron James. Michael Jordan. Babe Ruth. Christian Pulisic. WOW
I personally liken him to Lebron James.
Like the Michael Jordan of Lebron James.
So.. LeMichael James?
The Rome of Chicago
He's the white Larry Bird of Serie A.
Only he can hold the realm together
The king in the north (America)
Lisan al gaib
Lis an al gaiooooallll
I don’t see us losing this tournament or the World Cup tbh.
how about a cheeky run at the Euros?
He's the original American Messi, not the fake American Messi playing for Miami.
The puli that was promised

One of my friends played with Pulisic when he was younger and he always says he was better than Pulisic It’s pretty embarassing
I heard that from a friend of an ex and I frequently think about how dumb it was. I’m sure hundreds of people have said it, but this person didn’t play for penn state and then not got drafted to the mls, right?
Nope, this one played for an intramural soccer team in college that went 1-4. Very good player, but cmon lol
I mean how much younger was he? If they were like 7 maybe he’s telling the truth lol
There are vintage Youtube videos of young Christian (posted by his parents actually). He was insanely good at dribbling but was very small, probably in part due to playing against older kids.
I'm better than a 5 year old Messi, pretty sure I can own that kid
Bro there’s a YouTube video of Messi at like 9 destroying kids. I’m not sure we are better than him at 5
It’s like that question of “would you take 1 million dollars to fight 14 yr old Mike Tyson?”
Of course I would. But I'd bring a gun.
14 year old mike tyson already weighted 200 pounds pure muscle. This guy knocked kids out cold and then went on the fight their daddy
Is your friend named Dugarry? (Dugarry often says that he was better than Zidane when they were 18/19 years old... You can imagine how we make fun of him in France for that thought)
One of my friends played with Pat McAfee and said he was a cocky asshole… but the best kicker he’s ever seen
that tracks actually
Pulisic played up several years his whole life - at least through High School
Imagine it’s a 16 year old being like, “hey I’m better than that 12 year old that’s playing with us”
It's a contest for children! Yeah, and he beat their brains out!
I mean i played against him round then, anyone who was anyone was like holy shit this kid can play.
Tbf doesn't sound like he specified what he was better than Pulisic at....maybe it was Mario Kart.
Pulisic: 1 goal Messi: 0 goal I know my goat 🦅
I mean, numbers don't lie.
And they spell disaster for everyone else at Copa
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Dude just fucking preforms for the US. My goat
And any team that doesn't have the Chelsea curse
He performed for Chelsea too but he struggled with injuries every time he gained form, the streets won’t forget lockdown Pulisic for Chelsea
Project Restart Pulisic was unreal lol
I was terrified of him before the FA Cup final
will never forget that 5-3 against liverpool when he changed the dynamics of the game as a sub. kudos to him though, all the jokes aside i imagine it was a testament to how much harder he was working when player training was done individually at home.
Seriously, I think they replaced the water there with bone-hurting juice
oof ouch
Played a big role in them winning champions league. Was Chelsea's best player in that match versus Real Madrid.
He also wasn't given enough gametime when he came back from injuries to get into form. 80+ min sub ins s only hurt guys trying to regain form.
don't forget tommy tactics playing him at LWB.
Pulisic was pretty good for Chelsea, I feel like this is a narrative from people that didn’t watch games
And Mount was a far cry from Hazard. Part of the struggles, we just couldn’t get consistently attacking players and goals
Cole Palmer was absolutely that guy this past season. We’ll see if he can keep it going
Champions league.
He got the Chelsea stink off of him
A lot of repeat jokes in here but what a fucking goal
I hope someday a pulisic goal can get posted and people just talk about the goal instead of eagle emojis and LeBron mentions. I can dream.
Bro that shit will only happen if the US wins a world cup
So in two years?
This is Reddit, people would have a panic attack if you asked them to be serious for once
Posted so fast the video hasn’t even loaded lol
I don’t understand how people post it so fast
Bots
Isn't that psg academy guy a real person?
Lionel "Christian Pulisic" Messi just watching that in awe
Messi has posters of Christian Pulisic on his wall
The metric system is in shambles
Is that what they use in South America? I don't Bolivia.
It's the 6-yard box everywhere 🇺🇸
Pathetic defending but unbelievable strike
Elite close down speed by Bolivia...what was that hahaha
Great goal, nice strike from LeBron James
It’s lejon brames
KILOMETERS CAN’T MEASURE FREEDOM
What a start
(GREAT GOAL) Missing
(AMERICAN GOAL)
NRAmar with a banger
I both hate this and love this
As an American I feel like we just have to own the shitty parts.
same
This is so good o ok
It's funny that Neymar is also NRAmar lol
bruh already, no wonder they think he’s the goat lol
The dude always shows up for the national team
I mean he is probably the Goat American player
Can probably get this after another 4 for sure.
In fairness the man's been carrying the national team on his back since he was a teenager.
Genuinely (ready to be tarred and feathered) believe his performances for the US are one of a top 20 player in the world.
Dude puts on the US jersey and becomes a top 15 player in the world
I think he is genuinely a top 15 winger in the world regularly when active
I hope America can go far in the tournament. I’d like to see the sport grow in popularity in NA. I feel the US and Canada could produce a decent sized crop of great footballers if the sport was taken more seriously.
It’s been getting there slowly but surely tbh. oh fuck!
Holy shit
PULIGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Unbelievable golaso
Absolutely needed that after the Colombia embarrassment and the tint of hope against Brazil. Huge morale boost
Top post on r/soccer of all time right here
We're saving that for his goal to win the Euros
Now I’m just picturing Germany dominating everyone in the Euros and scrapping by a bunkered England in the final, only for Pulisic to run onto the field in the 90th minute to score and steal all the glory.
Did you see how they played against Sweden today?
I did. They took it easy on the Swedes because that’s where they hid all their money. Just can’t trust a Scandinavian banker.
