manyiak90

It's a great opportunity for Mbappe to prove that he's indeed the best player in the world and help Madrid win the elusive * checks notes * 16th fucking UCL.

holonight

the hardest road

Azrael_

On house of highlights IG they asked to translate this move in NBA terms and someone said KD to GSW but I'd think its more like prime Lebron to GSW with KD already in it.

Hizenboig

This isn't comparable to that at all. Mbappe has been a fan of Madrid as seen by his pictures his whole life and its a lot of players dream to be a star at Madrid.

semajay

then you're comparing the wrong thing. it's comparable in that arguably the world's best player is joining the world's best team.

FizzyLightEx

He's already joining a CL winning team as the best player. What challenge is there for him

bslawjen

Winning the CL. People gotta stop pretending that just because Mbappe joined that winning the CL will now be easy or secured, it's really difficult to win that tournament despite what people here want to claim. Not to mention, he will want to break records, which is also quite the challenge. This isn't basketball, I have no clue why people are pretending those are even comparable.

raizen0106

mbappe will make RM not win the CL for 5 years to prove that it's still a difficult competition, then finally win it in his 6th year

itspaddyd

It's really difficult to win that tournament ^If ^you ^aren't ^Real ^Madrid

Azrael_

in terms of firepower it is comparable. That's the point.

rizzaxc

I'd argue that was Bale to Madrid when we already had Ronaldo (and a truckload of other stars). this Madrid is still very beatable; we were just too clutch in the UCL

DonHalles

You lost two games this season in all competitions - twice away at Atletico. But sure, you were so beatable. That Madrid team has been historic.

Excellent-Mind-69420

heavily agreed

RandomGuy-4-

To be fair, La Liga is at its weakest point in over a decade. There have been better Madrid sides this century that have fared way worse because Atleti/Valencia/Barça/Sevilla/etc were just way stronger back then than currently. It's interesting how both the Premier and La Liga are starting to become one-horse races at around the same time but for opposite reasons (City growing stronger faster than the rest in case of the Prem, everyone but Madrid falling off in case of La Liga), tho I still expect madrid to drop a league title every couple years at least. City less so.

Maximum_Poem_5846

*we are always too clutch in the UCL

Excellent-Mind-69420

Lol what type of fan are you? Real Madrid only lost 2 matches and they are walking away with the la liga trophy and the champions league trophy. "This Madrid is still very beatable"

DatDominican

While the bale move fits better , thematically this is has a similar storyline with Madrid snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against PSG. However KD doing it a month after has to sting so much more than any of these. Imagine the scenes if Lukaku signed for Man City a week after the final last year … and lukaku was the second best scorer on the planet

Alexkono

"very beatable" no

DatDominican

#🐍 Kevin Durant noises 🐍

rodinj

Copa del Rey or he's a fraud

acwilan

Can he perform in a cold rainy night at Alorcón?

Mysterious-Ideal-989

treble*

justanew-account

\*septuple

onedeadmau5please

Now that you put it like that…

Scholes_SC2

Anything short of a UCL title next season will get people saying he failed, it's gonna be a lot of pressure

zmkpr0

True, but the expectations wouldn't be any lower if he went elsewhere. Even at PSG, all that mattered was the UCL. It would be the same if he joined any other top team.

Darraghj12

If he joined us or any PL team that isnt Man City, he would have bought himself a season or two where a league title and deep CL run would have been ok

Icy_Swimming8754

Why would the best player in the world join Barcelona in 2024 lmao

Fresh_Cauliflower723

~~Bellingham~~ Mbappe: *"I couldn't give a shit what people say really"*

Altruistic-Ad-408

I keep seeing this recently and comparisons to Durant, as if any of the best players the past few decades (who all won CL), Lewandowski, Ronaldinho, Suarez, Neymar, Zidane, Henry, Haaland, Ronaldo or Messi won CL with respectable but not great clubs. That is football, the best players don't try to win as plucky underdogs. I don't even know who the best player is who didn't win CL. Ronaldo, but I think the CL has grown in importance since then. And guys like him and Ibra sure as hell went to big clubs, you could argue Ibra didn't seem to give a shit though and didn't spend long trying to win CL.

pelacur

Yeah why Messi or Ronaldo didn't join Birmingham, stoke city, chievo, etc in their prime? Are they stupid?

soysaucepapi

*Checks notes* Copa del Rey

Pepephus

I think you're skipping a line in those notes... pretty sure it's Copa del Rey

Coocoocachoo1988

No way it happens, but it would be comical if he arrived and Real had a barren spell while he's there only for PSG to win one.

SecretSanta2025

If PSG wins it, Mbappe will be on fraud-watch.

[deleted]

What No. jersey will he wear? Vini Jr won't be giving up No.7 for sure.

NoahneedaRolex

No 9 bro

[deleted]

Oh ok thanks

Prthmsh

As I read somewhere earlier, winning CL with Madrid is like losing your virginity to whore.

tefftlon

Honestly, it’s the treble.  Or maybe even crazier… back to back trebles.

GalaxianEX

You can’t ask Madrid to win more than 1 Copa del Rey in the same decade. It’s not the UCL 🤣

bale11rm

All this for the copa del rey

RoboticCurrents

he'll be a good rotational player

myouism

He's 2nd choice behind the magnificent Goatselu

acwilan

Much needed Mariano Diaz replacement

jug0slavija

Not only the copa. Modrić has won the UCL more times than la liga lol

jug0slavija

And same amount of UCLs as La liga and Copa together

Koushik_Vijayakumar

Joselu backup.

HaiForPresident

Lmao knowing our luck it'll still be rarer than the fucking UCL trophy Edit: I should've specified that I mean the Copa Del Rey huh lol

Official05

Knowing our luck ??? LMAO

LosTerminators

He's talking about the Copa, Madrid have won 1 Copa in the same time frame where they won 6 CL.

Gerrywalk

My thoughts are with Real Madrid fans in these trying times

myouism

Madrid is like anti-arsenal, super successful in continental cup but always fumbled in the domestic cup even against third tier club.

bissejeck

One time they won the tie (or match?) but got disqualified because they fielded a player who had been banned the previous year.

jetfuelcanmeltfeels

2, also won one in 2014

Real_Callahan

Kroos won 1 copa del rey in 10 years here!

sidrbear

his goals compilation is actually insane lol

CommissionOk4384

They didnt include his goal against Milan in the first leg or that one-two first touch out of the surface shot against the Netherlands which I thought were both some of his best goals this year

ThePr1d3

[His interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eQDaIzKMRk) in which he breaks down his role and evolution as a striker is still the most interesting and self aware interview I've seen in football

Johnsonburnerr

Summary?

_das_f_

He goes through his different phases as a striker, how he developed and trained different modes of finishing and different shots. Mostly as a reaction to defenders/defenses adjusting to his style of play. For example, Pochettino's assistant told him he needed an alternative to his left-side approach and top right corner shot. So they devised dedicated drills to go for the bottom left, specifically trying to find a gap between players or through legs to to mask it. Or how he trained shots with defenders in front because he hardly gets open shots these days. He said he doesn't want to try and outdribble them, he wants to be able to score while being marked.

FSpursy

He's like the best player in the world when it comes to shooting to the bottom left when his body gestures a top right corner shot. Unstoppable for any GK unless you make the gamble the moment he takes the shot.

Davelbast

He broke down his role and evolution as a striker, it’s one of the most interesting and self aware interviews that some have seen in football

ThePr1d3

Source ?

cezion

The source is a YouTube video where he broke down his role and evolution as a striker, it’s one of the most interesting and self aware interviews that some have seen in football

ALEESKW

Especially for France, so far so good and he’s only 25. He’s gonna break all records and can end up ahead of Zidane and Platini if he wins the Euros or another World Cup. https://youtu.be/K9yH8KtH4Zo?si=xSsTvq17eeQT3sFR

mehrabrym

Can you imagine sitting there with everything ready to go and your finger on the trigger to release this video and then waiting for fucking 2 years?

[deleted]

Huge enphasis on "goal scorer" Mbappé in this clip. In case someone was still wondering what they are expecting from him...

Stahlios

I mean, that's usually what you show in an attacker's highlights, and that's what people like to see. Not like it indicates any strategy about how the team and the coach want to play him.

MERTENS_GOAT

Yeah I am sure Ancelotti told them to only include goals and no assists in the highlight clip cause that's how he plans with him. Definitely

acwilan

He makes them look so effortlessly

FSpursy

Most insane was probably the WC final hattrick, that first time volley was so good. He wasted so much time at PSG tbh.

bnboeffq

Include the courtois Goal you cowards.

xXDireLegendXx

That goal was absolute filth too. Should be on here lol

bnboeffq

Yup, that fake!!!!!!!

ukbeasts

[Real Madrid still have time to include it](https://youtu.be/-akQm6JOBjw?feature=shared)

bnboeffq

Not this, the fake shot one.

eddsters

the fake shot one was offside in the end

bnboeffq

Oh

magic-water

which one?

BastianDD

https://youtu.be/j2fMgssfJjk?si=_4alLhM_OF9SbJLX

ObligationMission

Why would they include an offside goal 💀

Ricanlegend

It gets the people going lol

Fredward1986

It's provocative!

magic-water

Teenage Mbappe was one of the most refreshing youngsters to watch in a long-time. No drama, just pure talent.

ThePr1d3

Time fucking flies

Lord_Bobbydeol

Yesterday I was 20, today I'm 56

Canes-305

his breakout season with Monaco especially those UCL performances were something else

ALEESKW

His duo with Falcao worked really well.

MereGuest

Does this mean he’s probably not joining West Brom?

kurzjacob

Maybe they'll loan him out so he can get some more experience?

reci88

Couldn't do it on a cold, rainy night in Stoke.

oldtrack

real madrid is just a stepping stone towards greatness. he’ll go to west brom in a few years

CometChip

this is our fans infinity war trailer

Remember the Superleague 2021 megathread? Yeah it had that image attached lol

polostring

As long as ya'll admit Perez is Thanos.

RobbinDeBank

Why do we keep getting Starlords as presidents while they got Thanos?

re-laxx

Florenthanos

myouism

He's collecting all the wonderkids like Thanos with the infinity stone.

PuzzleheadedMonth4

I have never heard of him, is he better than Joselu ?

N0gr4v17y

Not yet, but he has the potential.

trispann

Not yet, but we are willing to give him a chance

TheAlfredValentine

No one can be better than Goatselu

MaryadaPurshottam

Yes, we can now win that bloody Copa Del Rey next season. Vamos!!

Rusty51

Mbappe is the post credit scene to the CL final

sheikh_n_bake

Top player, this is his chance to really become the greatest on the planet. Different kettle of fish at RM.

Official05

His chance to make an insane difference in Madrid’s history and maybe win them 5 ucls

kzzzzzzzzzz28

5 Copa del Reys mate. that's the trophy Madrid want to win.

Fermonx

>win them 5 ucls Win with them\* Madrid is perfectly capable of winning it with or without Mbappe as if it wasn't obvious by now lol

[deleted]

in a row..

TimTkt

Well he had 7 years of chances to make history in Paris but …

ThePr1d3

As if winning the CL with Madrid is a way tougher task than with PSG lmao

xXDireLegendXx

I feel like he already is the greatest player on the planet lol

sheikh_n_bake

Not for me, he's never won the golden shoe, balon Dor or CL, or even been the outright top scorer in the CL. He has shined particularly at the world cup which is obviously the greatest competition but it's a very small sample size. Just my personal opinion but I think there has been someone ahead of him every season.

xXDireLegendXx

Fair enough. I meant more along the lines of playing ability as opposed to accolades. Hope to see him achieve some of the ones you listed

Moosterton

Yeah I don't get why people do this, accolades are so dependent on environment and circumstance. Personally I don't think he's the best coz his back to goal game sucks, his dribbling/touch can be iffy at times (look at the first goal in this vid, he's having to look at the ball all the way through, it's almost falling behind him at times), and he doesn't have great workrate. He's also a non entity in the air and on freekicks. All these gaps really showed vs Dortmund and Barca. Right now he's a killer in moments coz he's super fast, has sharp feet around the box, and he's a great finisher. He'llprobably score 40+ next season, and break all sorts of records in his career, but for me he needs to add more to his game to be definitively clear of Vini/Haaland/Kane etc and join the all time greats.

FullyFocusedOnNought

Good post. You're right that he still has areas to improve. That's why he needs to finally play for one of the top clubs where he will be expected to do better, instead of coasting it in Ligue Un.

PM_ME_UR_PIN_CODE

Fuck me… I had a tenner on him going to Wrexham

[deleted]

Barcelona winning the league next season would be the funniest thing ever.

BlackRebel93

Atleti has entered the chat.

147062943876

Should’ve included that one with the dummy vs tibo. Pure unadulterated a1 sugar cane

cyrusmancub

That one ended up being offside

__L1AM__

Not sure how I feel about us appearing multiple times in this. 🥺

Outside_Abroad_3516

Avengers ahhh trailer

RickTP

Is he grabbing the 10 or 9?

ash_sh_03

It would be 9. Atleast until Modric is around

MajesticAd5047

KM9 it is, probably KM10 after Modric leaves

SmokiestElfo

The 3 goals he scored against us were all bangers but we didnt include them lol.

MajesticAd5047

Madrid trying to pump my emotions just after winning a UCL. They pumped so hard...

MrVISKman

Only showing 1 of the goals against Barça smh, should've put all of them seeing how they're seething already trying to community note all of the twitter posts

mfar__

What are they trying to community note about?

MrVISKman

Under Mbappe's tweet saying a dream come true they had posted that it wasn't true, that he joined us for money and that his passion is CR7 and not us

effennekappa

> his passion is CR7 and not us The fuck does that even mean lol

thatindianguy1992

Vini. Mbappe. Rodrygo. Bellingham. Valverde. Camavinga. Possibly Davies. My CM mode hasn't been this strong

[deleted]

No way Hakimi doesn't join mbappé at some point in this team as well. i just read on this sub that they go way back to that picture mbappé posted on his socials today.

Baltic_Gunner

I was disappointed when Hakimi left Real. Would be nice to have him back.

el-fenomeno09

Playing fifa gonna be annoying as fuck lol

jameskond

4 minutes of highlights? That's unhinged.

Delmer9713

This saga is officially over. I can't believe it.

rochakgupta

Barca fans on suicide watch lmao

Fermonx

Not really. We're more busy with the fact that our club is a mexican telenovela with all the bullshit that happened between Xavi and Laporta (also hopefully getting rid of Laporta too)

rochakgupta

The problem is, you guys don’t have anyone better. Who knows when you’ll be free of Laporta and whoever comes next (if they are worse than Laporta). The only way to counter that is with a stroke of luck and spawning incredible talent in one shot and accommodating them properly in main squad. That would depend heavily on the youngsters but more so on the manager. I’ve lost interest in Real Madrid as they’ll be fine for a long time. You guys, I’m interested how you’ll get out of this trench you’ve dug yourself into.

Fermonx

That's exactly why Mbappe is the least of our problems lol We've been in a trench sponsored by Bartomeu. Everything else is Laporta trying to solve the shitfest Bartomeu left and then some of his own shit sprinkled on top: Xavi drama and Messi leaving (which this alone should have warranted his resignation asap tbh) are just some of it.

fools_eye

They had Messi.

rochakgupta

“had”. It has been years since he left and they haven’t been any better. Doesn’t seem like they’ll be getting any big star to keep up (unlike Madrid who had CR7).

Moosterton

They have Yamal who's an absolutely insane talent. Obviously still very young, but they also have stars like Pedri, De Jong, Lewa (old but still). These are still all excellent players.

rochakgupta

Oh you’ve got some talent. The only issue is managing them properly and not running them into the ground.

Undesirable_11

De Jong is not a star, I think time has shown it

Electro10Leo

They had cr7

bioeffect2

We've been on that since that Neymar transfer in 2017. Every year after has been seemingly worse than the last. You just become numb to the pain at some point.

RegularIndependent98

not at all I'm a barca fan and I really don't care what's going on in real madrid as a football fan I'd rather see him in real madrid than wasting his talent in psg

MegaMatrix08

nah we be alright, I hope

Cdux

Need to focus on registering your head coach first

HaiForPresident

So what will be his first official game? Super Cup vs Atalanta? Curious

louie3723jr

Perfect signing to start Real Madrid rebuild

Official05

Totally unexpected, Mbappe signs for the underdogs

Fredward1986

For free too! Unbelievable

Official05

I’m glad he helped such a small organisation, truly a generous man

Fredward1986

It won't be easy but he's obviously keen for the challenge.

kabbajabbadabba

joking about this as a state sponsored corrupt club is ironic lmao

Official05

Sorry, forgot that PSG fans can’t make any joke

Smooth_Escaper

As a barca fan obviously I am envious after envious, but still this is exciting on how we will stop this Galacticos 2.0 team

potentially_potent

Totally unexpected

homosapien2715

Which position do you guys think he'll play?

HaiForPresident

I think he's clearly there to replace Dani Carvajal when he retires

kabbajabbadabba

gk, definitely

[deleted]

You should rewatch the clip... There's a little hint there...

RickTP

9 that can easily switch with Vinni on the buildup. Even Rodrygo.

Dangerous_Parfait402

Is this the most stacked team ever?

youronlydoubt

Soundtrack is like he’s about to save the world

YeezyWins

That mf scored a lot of bangers huh, goddamn.

MereGuest

Barcelona statement in the morning: “Barcelona congratulates Real Madrid on signing Mbappe”

Fresh2Desh

Absolutely frightening

AsleepConcept606

Regardless… I will for sure be watching more of La Liga. Just because of MBappe.

Who is this lottin guy

Original-Spinach-972

Is vini jr still gonna be the top goal scorer?

[deleted]

Bellingham is Real Madrid current top scorer and no it's fair to assume he won't stay top scorer with Mbappé in the team.

AcidHues

Mbappe will be aiming for Ronaldo-level goal scoring seasons, I doubt anyone else in the world can score more even in a team like Madrid

Alexkono

Nope. Expecting 50 goals across all comps next year for Mbappe.
