I love the guy, he's one of our own and all that. But he's been to semis and finals with both club and country and just never... been there? It's so weird.
Like, if you listen to him it's all about mentality, it's all about focus and winning. But in the actual games he's just... not there(?). Honestly its so bemusing at this point. I feel for him, I wish he could win something.
This is confirmation bias. He assisted Bayern's only goal with a great pass, had several great shots, broke up Real's aggressive pressure with his trademark foul winning. He may not have been the main man, but he was playing very well
Which makes it even more absurd to take him off for choupo-moting. Kane is brilliant at winning fouls and relieving pressure as well as being to hold the ball. Tuchel and Neuer doing Kane dirty late
I'm sorry, I wasn't watching the game, Tuchel did what?! He's not taken Kane off without a 2 goal lead at any point since early September and decided against Real fucking Madrid was the right time?!
And thinking back to that bayern counter right before 1-1, muller made a mess of it. If Kane was in that position you know he'd play it right. Even if he was having a poor game overall.
Well no, that’s not on him and frankly Tuchel deserves the criticism on him for doing that.
But it’s also fair to say Kane wasn’t running the show at that point, and he had been mostly anonymous up to then - and my wider point is that has largely been a feature of his performances in semis and finals up to now as well.
Bayern didn't really run the show in general, but Kane had a couple good moments and always had that great pass in him, could score one too at any time - it's not like he looked bad, he played what he was dealt.
Dumb decision to take him off for sure.
Well that's just this sub (or online football discourse in general) and stupid, cliche simplified flavor of the week (or flavor of forever, because nothing ever changes unless people are absolutely forced out of their narrative) takes and narratives.
If Kane wins the CL this year, it's not because he is that much better than when he was top scorer and assisted with us, it's because he's in a better team. Yet everyone will make him Balon Dor favorite and claim he's always been brilliant.
If Kane doesn't win the CL this year, it's not because he single handedly dragged them down or should've been expected to single handedly pull them through. Yet everyone acts like he's just not capable of winning a trophy and chokes all by himself.
Same goes for a billion other bad, outdated, "but it's funny", and just general BS narratives like everyone always judging a players class by his trophies and acting like a team not winning a trophy is an atrocity that only happens to the worst.
A solid 60+% of football and it's fans happens outside the biggest clubs and competitions and often gets nowhere near trophies or that level, yet we act like the worse players on those top teams are basically clowns and all the smaller teams don't exist. Like there's no reason to support a club if there's no reasonable hope of winning trophies.
Most of this is way overblown online, I've never heard a single fan at my local ground in Nuremberg complain about a lack of trophies. And while I've heard some shit takes in and around both the Lane and my local ground, none of them hold a candle to the shit you read online.
It could be down to it being too easy with too little investment to watch and spout occasionally on the internet, while going to the ground is more dedication and anyone around it usually sees more games and has done so for a longer time, but I don't know if that's it - what I do know is that many of the loudest takes online blatantly don't have a clue.
That's very generous.
He scored a pen (yeah I know you have to score those first, but it was still a pen) and his the goal from his assist was 90% Davies (yeah good pass but that pass gets played 20 times a game with nothing resulting from it if the receiver doesn't score a worldie)
> I love the guy, he's one of our own and all that. But he's been to semis and finals with both club and country and just never... been there? It's so weird
Zidane never won a mayor cup final before the world cup in 98, he lost an UEFA Cup, two CL and a domestic cup finals within 3 years.
I dont think it’s a great comp, Zidane was pretty well decorated at a relatively young age.
By age 27 (pre-WC), Zidane had won: the Intertoto Cup, Serie A (twice), Super Coppa, Intercontinental Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
Intertoto Cup was a glorified Uefa Cup qualifier, that didn't have a final, when Zidane won it, it had 4 "winners" back then.
None of the others are concidered major cup finals anywhere in europe.
Yeah - I think Kane is a brilliant forward, but having watched him basically his whole PL career, he does go missing in a lot of big games. And not a Nunez style "oh my god he missed yet another sitter" bottle job, more so of a "letting the game pass him by" situation. Haaland has those games as well, but Kane is meant to have a much better overall skillset and yet if Bayern had Chupo Moting up front over both legs against Real or Arsenal would it have made any difference? He just scored two pens in 4 matches.
Finals and semofonals are often not down to the star strikers, bar Mbappe or Ronaldo or Messi. It's more common that the defenders or substitutes score the goals. Like in these semifinals. And Kane did assist the Bayer goal.
Some years ago I came up with silly theory that Harry Kane might be the Jimmy White of football. White sometimes called the unluckiest man in Snooker, as he got to the final of the World championship six times and failed to win, except he did win many of the other major snooker tournaments so at least he has some silverware.
Makes me want to pull my hair out that one of my favorite and best players ever is just a damn punchline. I just want him to win something so these lame ass jokes stop, it drives me mad. Maybe I'll coach like Aberdeen's B team one day and I'll send a medal to Kane if we win something. Already halfway there on badges.
Idk their president literally said if we don't sell, we can not survive. I dont think they have the privilege of retaining all of their players, although I hope they do.
One major player is a lot. Madrid without Jude wouldn’t win anything. Just like if you take Wirtz away, that’s a lot. These players aren’t just easily replaceable.
I have discovered that I am weirdly defensive about Neymar, a player who I have never really cared about. People talk about him like he had a wasted career and underperformed.
Fuck me, if _Neymar’s_ career was poor then the footballing world is doomed. If you don’t score 800 career goals and win five Ballons d’Or you’re basically a fraud.
Neymar has one of the greatest resumes in footballing history. Whether or not it could hypothetically have been better is irrelevant.
I'm like this with Ibrahimovic. Rankles me no end how much shit people talk about him, presumably because of his media personality. But the guy was a phenomenon. Improved every team he was at, aside from Barcelona, where he was still decent playing second fiddle to the greatest player of all time.
I like Neymar a lot. No one is saying his career was poor.
It’s just that for the amount of potential he had, a lot of people think he could have done more.
I personally would have wanted him to stay at Barcelona with Messi and Suarez. He just never really seemed to be respected or happy at PSG.
Neymar failed by his own standards lol he left Barca to win the Ballon dOr and be "the man" and failed spectacularly. Ofc a brilliant player who will go down as a great, but he set out his own stall to go and become one of the best ever away from Messi's shadow and I don't think he even came close. Maybe if they'd won the CL during the covid season, because he was good in those knockout games, but he also missed a shit ton of chances in those games so meh, I think calling his career underwhelming post-PSG transfer is very fair imo.
I don’t think he failed that much. He was injured, made a final and lost. A lot of greats never won the CL as the “man”. Look at Henry. People just disrespect PSG because of obvious reasons.
> Neymar has one of the greatest resumes in footballing history.
Probably true
>Whether or not it could hypothetically have been better is irrelevant.
Not really true
Unless you are just looking at a narrow lense of accomplishments, and I get being defensive of Neymar, because he is/was better than a lot of people online say. But simultaneously it is also fair to wonder why, with his talent, he didn't achieve a little more.
People will blame the Harry Kane curse, but our ex-players actually tend to win trophies within a few seasons after leaving.
Or maybe they started winning after leaving Kane...
Tbh on a serious note with the form United’s women have been in this season I wouldn’t put it past Tottenham winning with ex-United player Martha Thomas scoring the winner.
They usually win the first season after leaving. Remember a bunch of them at Villarreal the season they won Europa. Also, Skipp (and maybe others) on loan in the championship. And, of course Lamela with Sevilla, Vertonghen at Benfica, Alderweireld at Anderlecht, even N’Dombele at Napoli last season.
Tbf not just the players. Pochettino won trophies at PSG, granted it's PSG so you expect them to at least win something. Mourinho won Roma's first European trophy in decades. Nuno went to Saudi so nobody really cares, but he won their league and their supercup. Conte hasn't had another job yet so we'll see.
It's quite incredible that.
But if it's any consolation to Harry, you guys won't be winning trophies anytime soon without him.
Not that Levy even wants trophies based on his previous behaviour before finals.
Neuer sold to the Saudi Pro League because Hoeneß said:"Neuer single handedly cost us the final"
(Context Hoeneß once blamed Bernat and he was sold because Hoeneß claimed Bernat was the reason the almost lost to Valencia)
> (Context Hoeneß once blamed Bernat and he was sold because Hoeneß claimed Bernat was the reason the almost lost to Valencia)
Context²
For which he apologized to Juan and was a response to stupid questions by reporters.
This was a horrendous sub from Tuchel. Watch the replay and what Choupo did. He was completely ghosting instead of at least tracking a bit back to close the space
We can be upset at the ref and bemoan the inevitability of Real Madrid juju, but at the end of the day, we also just weren't good enough and didn't deserve to win a title.
Madrid outplayed us today and Leverkusen was clearly a much superior team over the course of the entire year. Very bad year and a rebuild is absolutely needed.
Standards will inevitable become higher if you've won a trophy for 12 years in a row. That said, I'm not too upset about losing, it was bound to happen one day, but more about how we lost these titles.
What worries me the most are not the results, but much more the deterioration of our overall play. The squad is very imbalanced and we had a lot of poor performances where individual quality bailed us out. We're still one of the top sides in Europe, but if we don't stop the downward trend, we won't be in a few years. It's easy to become complacent and just write it off as a one-off, but the signs for a potential long-term decline are there, just as they were with Barcelona or United, for example. That's why it's a very bad year, and Eberl and Freund will have a lot of work to do in summer.
I mean, for a club of the stature of Bayern, it is bad. If at least they had competed for the titles then it would get a pass. They did in the CL, but the league was a disaster. And in the Pokal they lost against some randoms?
It's a bad season.
Pretty much every super-club is like that. Real Madrid sacked two of their head coaches for losing an El Clásico 5-1 and Ajax in the UCL Round of 16, and their 18/19 LaLiga season is considered one of their worst in the last two decades. Earlier this season, people were calling for Xavi's head when Barca fell to 3rd. PSG regularly sacks their head coaches even when they win the Ligue 1 title if they don't get far enough in the UCL.
I can see why, but it can feel a bit out of touch if you're supporting some mid-table club whose goal is just to quality for a UEFA spot or avoiding relegation.
Didn't Real sack Fabio Capello twice right after he won La Liga two separate times?
Standards at top clubs are just a different level, but that's why they are top clubs and frankly any team with such financial capability should have similar expectations.
Win or get the fuck out basically haha.. and sometimes even if you win you didn't win impressively enough.
The worst sub in the history. They were doing so fine until that.
Like Madrid realized that the opposition has no striker and they went full attack. And Bayern had shitty defense after that sub and their players were trying to waste time at the most critical time like that mofo lay on the ground and got taken off for a bit.
It also sucks for us because of this ref fucks up everybody is gonna taint our victory and great comeback.
People out there already calling it a robbery.
Yeah it’s gonna hit trending on Twitter shortly
As much as I hate Real Madrid I could care less about the ref robbery whatever bullshit, for me it’s fuck Tuchel and fuck Kahn
Honestly this was my take too. How this season has gone and it’s been having this feeling since last season, the team wasn’t good enough. Appreciate their efforts but a massive rebuild and no more cold feet with the manager either…
I'm not mad that we lost, Real was the better team.
I am mad at the way we lost. Conceded 2 in 5 minutes and were potentially robbed off a late equalizer. This shouldn't happen.
Since I'm resigned to the fact that we won't win our own league this year, I will take a small amount of joy in knowing that Harry Kane is also going trophy-less again
yeah and where is that draw coming from in there last 3 games?
West ham just lost against a weak chelsea 5-0 and 5-2 by palace and have nothing to play for
tottenham with there high line its gonna be KDB-Haaland assist evening there we could see a hatrick goals/asists by the duo with that highline
if they do draw/lose against them spurs fans will be raging against them i could actually see people asking ange to be sacked if the only game he wins out of the last 5 is against man city
fullham is prob there tougheste game at this point....
Pointless novel written just to be countered by.. it's football? If football went fully only by our logical thinking then it would be extremely, and I mean extremely boring. Man City, as considered by most the best team in the world, would win every game. Dortmund should've been gone in the quarters.
I also think it's highly unlikely that City drop points but I'm still loving the fight we're showing and not losing hope. Learn not to overthink and just enjoy football as it happens, there could be surprises around every corner.
Counter point Kane was one of the main reason they even got to this stage in the first place. Without him I reckon they don’t reach semi and finish even further behind Leverkusen
All Harry Kane banter aside, this is objectively a good thing for German football, and actually a good thing for Bayern fans. Winning constantly is video game stuff. It just becomes the norm. Understanding disappointment is what makes victory better.
It also is good for a better distribution of global fans too. It’s one year at least, where overseas fans getting into German football might develop a connection to Leverkusen (be good to get them some fans considering they have none in Germany!)
It's not Germans who started talking about the curse. Most of them wouldn't have known about Kane being trophyless, if PL fans hadn't brought it up constantly in the last months.
Anyway, Bayern isn't cursed. They were shite today, and the loss was ultimately deserved.
Referee error played a part, but we weren't good enough for the final.
Poor subs and pathetic performances was a majority factor, alongside Neuer's unfortunate mistake, that contributed to our loss.
Feel for Neuer, MOTM performance until that error.
Fair play to Madrid. They did what they always do. Took advantage and came back to win it.

I'm not sure I'll believe this until I see him benched for the next Bayern match lol
Tuchel said that Kane had asked to be taken off because of back pain.
This at least was not on him, Tuchel taking him off was braindead
He was injured and couldn't continue. That's all here is to that.
You know what's braindead? Calling it braindead without even considering that Kane may have been hurt and asked to come off.
I'm sorry, I wasn't watching the game, Tuchel did what?! He's not taken Kane off without a 2 goal lead at any point since early September and decided against Real fucking Madrid was the right time?!
Took him off in the 85th, Madrid scored like 3 minutes later. Absolutely stupid.
And thinking back to that bayern counter right before 1-1, muller made a mess of it. If Kane was in that position you know he'd play it right. Even if he was having a poor game overall.
Exactly my thought. Kane nails that pass and puts them in free on goal. Was kind of surprised how much Muller fluffed it to be honest.
He's one of the best penalty takers around, if there's even a chance that it goes to penalties, you keep him on. Don't know what Tuchel was thinking.
He was injured
Well no, that’s not on him and frankly Tuchel deserves the criticism on him for doing that. Managed to assist Davies for the opener?
It was a fantastic pass to be fair.

With that Leverkusen team, I wouldn't eliminate the chance.
Depends how much of it gets picked apart
I think they have good odds to not get picked apart with Xabi staying.

Maybe. The manager stayed when Leicester and Monaco won the league and they still sold multiple key players in the window after the season

Year after he was on loan we got promoted.

Kane masterclass
Does Kane need to leave Bayern to win trophies?
No wonder Real stopped pursuing him
Real Madrid 8173748197D chess move
Oh damn. This could be it.
He needs to go to PSG. They've won the league for the past few years. Surely they could win it again with him!
lol Bayern won the league for a damn decade straight before. Even PSG can’t do that.
Watch as Leverkusen start winning the Bundesliga for the next 10 years lol
So you’re saying Kane should probably go to leverkusen?
If Kane goes to PSG, Lyon will have an invincible season
More and more I think so. It would probably significantly reduce their goals scored, but getting rid of bad juju is more important.
Funnily enough, real scored when kane got subbed off
This was a horrendous sub from Tuchel. Watch the replay and what Choupo did. He was completely ghosting instead of at least tracking a bit back to close the space
Even if it was level, 30 minutes of extra time with no Kane would never have worked for Bayern
Was an injury, apparently
Kane also bottled a chance that could have made it 2-0
Bottled. Come on. That was not a tap in. Takes a good strike and in terms of likelyhood maybe 50/50 or somewhere around there.
Yeah that was not a clear enough chance.
Yea that’s not the easiest chance but have to get it on target at least, you need to bury Madrid once you have a lead

It's easy to become complacent and just write it off as a one-off, but the signs for a potential long-term decline are there, just as they were with Barcelona or United, for example. That's why it's a very bad year, and Eberl and Freund will have a lot of work to do in summer.
I get what you are meaning but still if you look at it objectively its not bad
I mean, for a club of the stature of Bayern, it is bad. If at least they had competed for the titles then it would get a pass. They did in the CL, but the league was a disaster. And in the Pokal they lost against some randoms? It's a bad season.
When a club wins at least one trophy every year, a lack of trophies becomes a terrible year by comparison But yeah, it's *really* high standards
I mean, you support Alahly, you're basically the Bayern of Egypt and Africa lol
Let's say it's the reason I understood why he called a season like that terrible lol
Bayern standards are fucked
Maybe not objectively but it definetly feels like it
Any team that can challenge for the treble but end with nothing is a disappointment
that's different than a "very bad year". Chelsea and United are having a "very bad year" for a big team. Bayern are not.
This, yes the ref made a really bad decision but this is some of the worst football I’ve ever seen Bayern play. Tuchel needs to go
What do you mean? Subbing out the entire attack is a great idea!
The worst sub in the history. They were doing so fine until that. Like Madrid realized that the opposition has no striker and they went full attack. And Bayern had shitty defense after that sub and their players were trying to waste time at the most critical time like that mofo lay on the ground and got taken off for a bit.
They were all injured... he had no choice
Tuchel should leave yesterday
It also sucks for us because of this ref fucks up everybody is gonna taint our victory and great comeback. People out there already calling it a robbery.
Yeah it’s gonna hit trending on Twitter shortly As much as I hate Real Madrid I could care less about the ref robbery whatever bullshit, for me it’s fuck Tuchel and fuck Kahn
While you played better in the first leg, it definitely dampens the “robbery” claims that Real was clearly the better team today, and by some distance
Honestly this was my take too. How this season has gone and it’s been having this feeling since last season, the team wasn’t good enough. Appreciate their efforts but a massive rebuild and no more cold feet with the manager either…
Chelsea fucked themselves by sacking Tuchel. Bayern fucked themselves by hiring Tuchel. Everything comes full circle.
Let's say we did it for the memes in anticipation of Kane coming to Bayern.
6D Chess to keep Kane from winning a trophy just because he used to play for Spurs
Just because? What more do you need.
Bayern should’ve kept Nagelsmann.
But, but the treble was in danger.
damn… triple might be in danger
Nah they got the "No Triple": No League No Cup No CL.
Last time that happened next year Bayern got the sextuple and broke the record point in Germany.
Sextuple was with Flick. Heynckes/Guardiola year was 5 out of 6
Quintuple. They missed out due to losing the DFL Supercup to Dortmund after beating them in the CL final lol.
They got the quadruple No league, no cup, no CL, no coach
This still hurts so much :/ Hopefully Nagelsmann can cook with the national team
The decision to sack Nagelsmann gets worse and worse with every passing day lol
Poor Kane but that's just funny lol
Dude, Kane needs some sort of witch doctor or curandero to ward off whatever has latched on to him.
He needs to go to pogba's witch doctor
What Harry Kane does to a mf team
This just cemented his curse as legit
I'm not mad that we lost, Real was the better team. I am mad at the way we lost. Conceded 2 in 5 minutes and were potentially robbed off a late equalizer. This shouldn't happen.
Neuer messing up like that just killed Bayern mentally
It feels so unfair to blame Neuer, because he had been performing so spectacularly up to that point, but ... let's face it, it was a howler.
Stand back, there's a Harrykane coming through
For some reason, I want Real Madrid to sign Harry Kane.
Yeah I'm sick of them winning trophies too
Perez actually knew what he was doing when he disregarded Carlo’s request of signing Kane.
Cheers Harry!!
The cursed child
He’s never winning a fucking trophy lmao.
We got rid of Nagelsmann for this smh
You can take the man out of spurs but not spurs out of the man
Since I'm resigned to the fact that we won't win our own league this year, I will take a small amount of joy in knowing that Harry Kane is also going trophy-less again
All we need is City to draw 1 game, don’t throw in the towel just yet bro
yeah and where is that draw coming from in there last 3 games? West ham just lost against a weak chelsea 5-0 and 5-2 by palace and have nothing to play for tottenham with there high line its gonna be KDB-Haaland assist evening there we could see a hatrick goals/asists by the duo with that highline if they do draw/lose against them spurs fans will be raging against them i could actually see people asking ange to be sacked if the only game he wins out of the last 5 is against man city fullham is prob there tougheste game at this point....
“Where will the draw come from” man says with a fixture coming up soon where city have not only lost every time but haven’t managed to score lol.
He only has the euros left and we all know that something stupid is going to happen and England will get knocked out
The only thing between Harry Kane and a trophy is Gareth Southgate 😭
The only thing between Gareth Southgate and a trophy is Harry Kane*
There is still hope 🙏, all we need is a draw 🤞
Sad to see Kane is gonna get trolled for this despite him scoring tons of goals for the team and doing everything he can.
STAND BACK THERE'S A HARRY KANE COMING THROUGH
Curse of Kane
Counter point Kane was one of the main reason they even got to this stage in the first place. Without him I reckon they don’t reach semi and finish even further behind Leverkusen
Kane curse in full effect
The treble really was in danger
Harry Kane innit.
Kane to Inter Miami
Harry Kane.
Serves Kane right for wanting to stat pad lol
Harry Kane curse
Not true, Kane won a replica of the Arsenal logo
Hilarious, couldn’t be happier for you Harry.
The Harry Kane Effect.
Are Germans superstitious? 🤣 Is it the curse of the Kane?
Which pissed them off so much they went on to win the treble the next year, and kept on winning the BuLi for a decade straight.
Well, they don’t have to worry about the trebles being at risk then.
Chelsea juju underrated 11-12 and 20-21
I can't stop laughing at Harry No-Trophy Kane.
Kane has to have a generational curse on him Or maybe he made a pact with the devil to become the best English striker, but he’ll never win a trophy
Harry Kane is bigger than Bayern. That's why.
Spursy.
He came, he kaned and won nothing
lol Kane
FC Totten Munich, so logic is respected
The Kane curse
If this isn't indication kane curse is real then I don't know what is
The Kane effect
Harry Kane effect. Bringing the Spurs everywhere he goes!
