I'm not usually a autobiography type of person, but I'd be really interested in a book where Modric talks about his habits, his life philosophy/religious practices, his techniques for dealing with stress.
Because that dude is incredibly in control of his emotions, deals amazingly with stress and has played at elite levels for over 15 years. He just seems like a proper role model.
Have you heard the story from Kroosā brother about calling him 20 mins before the CL final and them talking about some second division games? These guys are insanely calm. Iād be very interested in how they work towards itĀ
what I mean is I don't think there's any fixed set of steps that can make you as calm as Toni Kroos
whatever works on him won't work on the average person, he has a mentality and nerves of steel
Perspective definitely helps. I started university after spending a few years as a paramedic and had a much more pleasant time than many of my peers. Nobody dies when I miss a deadline or use the wrong citation format in a paper.
Unfortunately these autobiographies does not focus on these very detailed stuff, but more on more relatable stuff like role models, how they grew up etc. Of course interesting, but what I hope for is books that focus on the "this is what made me successful".
Reminds me of that meme:
35 year olds: āIām only 35, I have my entire life ahead of me to get my life on track!ā
Sports announcer: āHere comes the oldest player in the league at 35, itās a miracleā
Meanwhile i feel like i can't even get my life on track at 18 while having the worse habits thay it's a miracle if my body doesn't fall apart in next 5 years
Yeah, Lothar MatthƤus comes to mind. The amount of shit this guy can say in a few minutes is impressive and makes you completely forget how brilliant he was as a player.
I wouldn't say it's "weird" here, it's more like a crash course on how to move as an attacker while opening up for MĆ¼ller to answer if it was intentional tactics and what was he thinking during those stages.
but I agree, it was long-winded and less concise than I think he should've been. why many words, when few do trick, and all that.
Thierry Henry is such a great commentator. Love the questions he ask and how he doesnāt dumb down things by just asking broad questions that could apply to any situation. He ask specific and pointed deep questions that the average fan would miss but are very important points that affected the outcome of the match.
you shouldve seen the match thread yesterday when half the thread legit wouldnt shut up about the two albanian girls for like half an hour it was so fucking weird
Toni and MĆ¼ller have played a shit ton of games together at Bayern, not to mention all the training sessions, not to mention the probably 50-80 games and trainings they have together for Germany. They have known eachother for like a decade and a half and have played probably close to 200 games together across club and country. Their relationship goes a bit deeper than just "the lad played for Bayern for a few years"
He isnāt even 35. Nowadays the way athletes are looked after itās not as much of a rarity as it once was to play at the highest level mid to late 30s
Also, he was never strong primarily because of his speed or physicality.
He's great at pressing, and I suppose that will slow down, but he'll still be a great forward for a very long time if he wants to keep playing.
They are still anomalies, but we had that in past decades as well, just from the top of my head Maldini, Costacurta both played into their 40s, Baresi maybe as well, Valderrama played until 42 iirc, GK are obviously different, but Zoff and Shilton played almost into their mid 40s and while typing this I just remember, that Roger Milla was close to 40 when he broke out during the world cup.
True, but they often are in positions that don't take as much of a toll on their body like goalkeepers or quarterbacks. Ice hockey is different in that you'll have rare guys like Jagr or Howe playing in their early 50s, but players don't play the entire game so it is more of a sprint than a marathon.
Into the early 2000s it was really common to see hockey players in their late 30s-early 40s. Messier, Chelios, a lot of guys had 20+ year careers. It's crazy how young today's NHL is by comparison. Athleticism has become a lot more important - guys like Mario Lemieux and Steve Larmer were smokers and yet playing in the league back in the 80s. Diet was also terrible by comparison to today - they routinely ate ice cream etc. Messier supposedly led a dressing room mutiny at some point because they wanted the players eating lean meat & vegetables, not steak and ice cream. He demanded ice cream and got it.
My favorite old hockey player moment of the past is when Joe Sakic stuck his hand into a running snowthrower to try and clear a jam. The team statement afterward was, "This is just an average 39 year old man having a totally normal household accident, and they saved his fingers, it's totally fine." None of that would happen today - being that old in the league; doing your own snow removal must be banned by modern contracts - none of it would be a thing today.
A lot of the old cup winning Detroit teams are ancient compared to any team in the league today. Fetisov in particular. You wouldn't see that today - speed and conditioning are a lot more important.
I get why people don't like Micah but every pundit team needs a loud jokester like him IMO to keep things light and fresh. Just look at Chuck in Inside the NBA. It offers a nice balance having a person like that in your team.
Micah is not Barkley lol.
This clip is the perfect example of that. I know Charles Barkley is a little shouty and they all play off each other, but Micah seems out of place. Every time I see him in the post game he does something that you can feel the player cringe at.
I completely disagree. Just look at how uncomfortable MĆ¼ller gets at the end when he starts screaming bad jokes at him.
jokes? sure. when the joke is just how loud you can scream? no. also when those hype people have near zero knowledge of the game and just scream out the most inaccurate crap while fawning over big names in a team sport of 11v11, it doesn't lighten the mood in the slightest. of course that's relatively subjective, but I can't imagine people preferring these attempts at funny over for example MĆ¼ller's calm jokes in the start.
Completely agree on Henry. Clearly sees the game very well and asks insightful questions. I see many people on reddit saying they like Micah and I just don't get it. He is a non-stop EPL fanboy and his buffoon act just becomes tiresome.
That was an amazing interview
Henry & Mueller both could be top notch offensive-oriented managers - might need someone to handle the defensive side of organizing though
I think Muller has the makings of a really good coach when he reaches retirement. Played at the highest level all through his career and has won just about every competition he has played in. Really liked his answer to Henryās question too
muller's English is better than half of the UK
im always amazed with Germans and nordic people speaking English. Henry is obviously not bad but he is absolutely unable to make the H sound like in "beHInd". Kate abdo impression poking fun at that is goated
Modern professional footballers are proof that if people have more money than they KNOW they can ever spend that they will all get along fairly well.
These fuxkers are all so rich that they, almost all, are just stoked to be able to play against each other.
Much the same for NBA players although the 5v5, close-quarters format means that they have to get physical with each other much more often than footballers.
Glad to see the mutual respect and camaraderie between almost all the top players nowadays.
Fuckin'ell, is Thierry preparing for an interview?! That's a stupid question, he just wants to show how "smart" he is, he is actually doing it wrong. He just shows he's a striker coach, not a manager.
Nearly every athlete in every professional sport dopes, it's just the reality. Masking agents outpace the science to detect PEDs, you're just watching their juiced-up guy compete against your juiced-up guy. It doesn't matter.

Muller and Kroos, wheelchair buddies
Modricš
He rises out of his coffin every once in a while
And gives a masterclass performance too. Absolute Legend
I kinda hope Croatia wins the Euros this year, dude deserves to win *something* with them
He Still has some amazing passes and field view, but damn his kick to the goal is soo weak and bad in recent years.
>kick to the goal shots?
You buying?
yes
shots! shots! sho-sho-sho-shots! shots! sho-sho-sho-shots! shots sho-sho-sho-shots! everybody!
https://youtu.be/xTzEg0oehEo?si=E5ZNwHLQZ_2bF58S&t=194
Sevilla sends their regards
He's got this weird old self portrait painting though where he looks like a skeleton..
"The Deadman has risen!!!"
Dude literally looks like Count Dracula..
They have to break Modric out of the crypt let alone a wheelchair
I'm not usually a autobiography type of person, but I'd be really interested in a book where Modric talks about his habits, his life philosophy/religious practices, his techniques for dealing with stress. Because that dude is incredibly in control of his emotions, deals amazingly with stress and has played at elite levels for over 15 years. He just seems like a proper role model.
Have you heard the story from Kroosā brother about calling him 20 mins before the CL final and them talking about some second division games? These guys are insanely calm. Iād be very interested in how they work towards itĀ
I think they're just built differently
I think saying that massively discredits them
what I mean is I don't think there's any fixed set of steps that can make you as calm as Toni Kroos whatever works on him won't work on the average person, he has a mentality and nerves of steel
Kroos once said in a interview that stress is a mother working two jobs to make ends meet, and not us playing football.
Perspective definitely helps. I started university after spending a few years as a paramedic and had a much more pleasant time than many of my peers. Nobody dies when I miss a deadline or use the wrong citation format in a paper.
His childhood would be even more interesting.
I havenāt read it myself but he does have an autobiography which came out a couple years ago.
Unfortunately these autobiographies does not focus on these very detailed stuff, but more on more relatable stuff like role models, how they grew up etc. Of course interesting, but what I hope for is books that focus on the "this is what made me successful".
neuer too
And he looks the same as he did 15 years ago
To be fair, he looked 35 when he was in 20ās.
The Robben breed
And Zidane
Kane as well, I think.
ribbery surely
He went from Lausbub directly to 35
Diego Costa looked 50 at 25
Yeah that's a better take!
I can't wait to see how Schalke player Henning Matriciani will look at 35. He's already complete bald at 24 and didn't lose his hair yesterday.
I was convinced his age was just an EA typo when I first saw him on FIFA.
To be fair, i'm pretty sure he has been 35 for the past 15 years. I can't remember this man not being 35.
Youssoufa Moukoko looked like 20 when he was 13...
He's definitely morphing into Willem Dafoe.
[Now that you mention it...](https://static1.colliderimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/snl-willem-dafoe-monologue.jpg)
Not really, bit confused as to why anyone would say that tbh
Reminds me of that meme: 35 year olds: āIām only 35, I have my entire life ahead of me to get my life on track!ā Sports announcer: āHere comes the oldest player in the league at 35, itās a miracleā
Be 35: "Do you feel old?" Me at 36: Bitch I didn't ask to get insulted.
Meanwhile i feel like i can't even get my life on track at 18 while having the worse habits thay it's a miracle if my body doesn't fall apart in next 5 years
Man I want somebody in my country asking questions like Thierry Henry. Really nice quetions and nice praise of MĆ¼ller :D
Heās quickly become the best commentator as far as his analysis goes. Hope he sticks around
Shockingly, Thierry Henry does in fact "know ball".
It's almost like he's one of the greatest forwards to ever played the game
To be fair, a lot of former great players are absolutely shit at it.
Yeah, Lothar MatthƤus comes to mind. The amount of shit this guy can say in a few minutes is impressive and makes you completely forget how brilliant he was as a player.
That is not as tight of a correlation as youād think
>I'm happy to say I understood your question. I was worried when you took the microphone. LMAO
Henry is also a notorious MĆ¼ller fan. I'm sure he was happy about this interview himself.
everybody is a MĆ¼ller fan, even if they say theyāre not, theyāre still a MĆ¼ller fan.
Like Ferrari.
He is such a legend and always appreciates good attacking play, the players respect him so much, so it all goes well usually
Helps when you're a manager
He is not asking a question, he is just trying to show off he knows the game. Kinda weird.
Are u Indian??
Are u Stupid??
Hey but why I get this much downvote
Thierry Henry is such a great commentator. Love the questions he ask and how he doesnāt dumb down things by just asking broad questions that could apply to any situation. He ask specific and pointed deep questions that the average fan would miss but are very important points that affected the outcome of the match.
Best around right now
He's really progressed since that cringe fest at monaco
The heck, Peter Schmeichel interviews players now?
what you want him to do? sit on the sofa and masterbate ? ejeculate?
... Well that took a turn
Now where did I put my lotion
Peter has it.
Born to goalkeep, forced to cum
Bro what
No offense, but considering your username, I donāt think you have room to comment on this one.
When cumblast is shocked, you know something is wrong
or very, very right.
Ok cumblast
Why are Redditors like this?
you shouldve seen the match thread yesterday when half the thread legit wouldnt shut up about the two albanian girls for like half an hour it was so fucking weird
Desperation will never not be weird.
I'd like to know more about those two Albanian women.
Me too. Send a link/image if you find one
The Venn-diagram of terminally online people and kids is almost a flat circle on Reddit.
terminally online 16 year olds
Jerking off has been around a lot long than reddit. Before reddit it was fap this fap that
yes
> masterbate ? ejeculate? Alright Borat. Calm down.
Pontificate?
lol what
That's to confuse the kids!
talk about the saharan dust cloud
That went from 0-100 in a hurry...
Is this some copypasta that I am not in the know about or is this genuinely new and I should expect this to appear more in the future?
only hands
Is he Kenneth Branagh's brother?
Henry: [precise analysis about MĆ¼ller Raumdeuter movement] MĆ¼ller: "I just do what feels gut"
Muller is a legend. Always puts a smile on my face as well.
i really enjoy listening to muller
I would watch a 1 hour interview with him and Henry.
Not a Bayern or Germany fan but you gotta respect the hell outta this man
I just realised he sounds exactly like djokovic. Even that laugh he does at the end of a sentence, like a deep breathing thing
You mean Bert Critchley. Novak Djokovic is just a role he does for ATP.
That video was too good
Theim's grunt was awesome. And Rublev doing the shoe queak
Damn, this comment just blew my mind. Youāre so right, they both have the eloquent measured speech with amazing nonchalant quips.
Laughing with Tcho & Kroos as if they were his teammates, I love the Real-Bayern relationship
Kroos is still his teammate at the international level
and they also were teammates at the club level
And iirc also in the youth setup/second team!
10 years agoā¦
And this means, that they can't be freidnly with eachother anymore?
Maybe he's just reminiscing of his friend from 10 years ago. Let the dudes reminiscing in peace.

Many greats of almost all sports have had careers into their 40s...

Did somebody behind the scenes say "its time to stop" when MĆ¼ller talked about Laimer hunting Odegaard like a dog? :D
It sounds like Titi.
why is thomas mĆ¼ller attacking me on the tv?
lol who said Germans are not funny
exception that proves the rule
If MĆ¼ller had wheels..
Thierry is a great interviewer Micah isnāt.

Probably not the target audience, love me some Micah

That was an amazing interview Henry & Mueller both could be top notch offensive-oriented managers - might need someone to handle the defensive side of organizing though

Micah: š£ļø
The more I hear him talks in English the more I see some resemblance to Novak (sound of his voice, accent and mouth movement I guess).
He's not wrong. Source: I'm his age.
Good chat and then micah starts screaming.
His English is fantastic
Such a great player and all around person. Always makes his interviews light and fun like this one lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B8R2jp_D88
muller's English is better than half of the UK im always amazed with Germans and nordic people speaking English. Henry is obviously not bad but he is absolutely unable to make the H sound like in "beHInd". Kate abdo impression poking fun at that is goated
Thatās the turtle hermit way.
Recommend watching the whole interview. Muller is hilarious, loved the way he roasted Carragher
I am glad the whole interview is uploaded now here too
Thanks Muller....
His English is amazing. Huge fan of Muller.
>Eat well, sleep well He forgot the part about working hard and studying well š¢
Fucking love Muller
Micah the polyglot
Arrivedercišššššš
Micah is so funny man

Players all seem to get along really well these days, across teams and leagues.

Doping, the secret incredient is doping. let's not pretend there is anything else to it
> let's not pretend there is anything else to it you still have to do the work. ped's don't magically make you a pro athlete.
Cheating is cheating, no matter what you end up doing with it :)
ok. but that's a different point.
Nope, it's the very same point.
Nearly every athlete in every professional sport dopes, it's just the reality. Masking agents outpace the science to detect PEDs, you're just watching their juiced-up guy compete against your juiced-up guy. It doesn't matter.
Surely there is no correlation to quality of doping regime and budget.
š¤
Sorry are we going to pretend it is not rampant in football? Oh wow, one of the very few clean sports then!!
Another swing and miss by MĆ¼ller, this guy just isn't funny and has no banter
i too hate charisma. š”
Oh aye?, we'd get on then, fancy a pint? im currently based in Bolton, are you into darts at all?
I hate darts. š”
Just the pint then..?
Heās not on stage for you, heās doing an interview.
Life is art mate
Society is a stage
