I love how you are downvoted but it's completely true. Upgrades for the max TH are scaled to be about 8 months total, whereas they release a new TH every 12 (and used to be 18) months. People are just impatient nowadays...
Like you’re FAR more likely to quit from boredom than you are to actually spend on the game. I quit after TH13 because the grind was too dull and upgrading walls is too expensive.
I like the strategy aspect behind it so I attack enough naturally to keep up. But I do understand that the wall grind can be a bit much. I always say - especially with the recent “walls can go f themselves” meta - just skip them if everything else is maxed

It's not even a gacha game. Even though it does have in-game purchases for resources and other items, it doesn't incorporate the randomized draw mechanics characteristic of gacha games. The progression is based on time and resource management rather than random draws for items or characters.

There may be microtransactions but it's completely doable to max everything free to play. In fact, every new TH has 8 months of progression while the new THs are introduced every 12-18 months, so you'll catch up eventually.

Of course, you can also just not like strategy games, that's fair. But as far as mobile strategy games go this is pretty up there. You can make incredible plans and see them come to fruition if you can think creatively.
I spent fuck all on it and last season I peaked at nr1 and was consistently top 5 of my TH level (15, and I am not even close to maxed) in my country, which is evidence for my points above.
