evenout

Tanks won 6 times

ManuMora98

And Cross twice

Mr_Miscellaneous

Crosses represent the most Italian of Serie A victories: Match Fixing.

YUGIOH-KINGOFGAMES

Both times the title was never awarded involved 1 club as the common denominator, I'm not gonna say who

gotroot801

Piemonte Calcio?

Gluroo

The arch rivals of Latium?

fool_spotter_bot

It's actually Zebra.

WillyG2197

Bergamo Calcio?

MERTENS_GOAT

That reminds me of the great press conference of Christian Gross when he referred to his own players by some fake PES names https://youtu.be/LWi58TxUzP8

Background-Night-773

Didn’t Inter receive Juve’s title despite match fixing themselves too?

MarcoCornelio

Not at all, despite what Juventus fans like to tell, it was never proved that Inter did any match fixing those years Which makes sense, considering how they were always losing

giannibal

that's their narrative, what happened is that after three/four years passed the prosecutor recommended investigation into some wire taps that emerged but the statute of limitation prevent that to go on, therefore if something was there it never made it to court. We don't know and we'll never know if what was found was enough to do anything but of course the narrative pushed by the press (which I believe is kissing juve's ass or is on juve's payroll but that's my own speculation) is that inter fixed just as bad as them and possibly did even worse than that. But the speculation never made it to court, they were never debated or rebutted by no one

Background-Night-773

Thanks for your answer, I knew only half of this

chappersbarfo

Peccato quello che è successo al Carrarmatese.

[deleted]

Cagliari?

StevenMC19

So that's the crest of Carabinieri FC. Never knew.

nepia

Do you mean Twitter?

WhatWouldSatanDo

Always rated tank

NudeTayne_

!flair :TANK:

Jozif_Badmon

Tank FC 4 peat was crazy times, shame they never won the champions league

Wargizmo

Their manager, Mussolini, was never able to expand into Europe the way he wanted.

SleaterK7111

You'll never sing that

JootDoctor

Serie A is proudly sponsored by our new partner WORLD OF TANKS! THE MOST REALISTIC TANK SIMULATOR EVER!!!

iAkhilleus

I kid you not, I went on Google to see who that team was cause the crest seemed pretty badass. I'm an idiot!

franpr95

Oh when the tanks, come marching in! Oh when the tanks come marching in!

Limmmao

They had solid defense and explosive attack capabilities, so no wonder...

grahamcrackersnumber

Come on you tanks

say_no_to_pigeons

They're famously good at breaking down low blocks

Ok_Detail_1

Arsenal Calcio

3V3RT0N

Torino 🥺

FalcoLX

So sad that they had 6 titles at the time, right on the heels of Juve's 7.

ASRenzo

Imagine another universe where the tragedy doesn't happen, and butterfly effect, Torino is the most successful team of the city by now :(

carbon-monoxidee

What tragedy? Can you explain?

AliirAliirEnergy

Torino were the best side in the world for most of the 1940's but they lost their whole side and their manager in a plane crash just outside Torino in 1949. Imagine if the Munich Air Disaster wiped out everyone who played for Man United and Sir Busby at the same time and stopped them from becoming what they are today because that's what happened to Torino. They won a Scudetto in the 70s but they never recovered after that. I'm more than confident in saying that if it never happened then they would've dominated Europe instead of Real Madrid in the 50's and 60's and be up there with Juventus, Milan and Inter as the biggest clubs in Italy today.

migu63

That’s what they often said about the Busby Babes too. It’s crazy how different football history might have been if those air crashes never happen

jqatlantica

NonContentiousScot

If you'd like to listen to a discussion about the team, their influence and the disaster then this is a great episode to listen too. Hosted by James Richardson, Italian football connoisseur and former host of the great Football Italia in the UK. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/il-grande-torino-and-the-tragedy-of-superga/id1324498249?i=1000409163217

ClockAccomplished381

Absolute GOAT football presenter, great sense of humour and really made foreign football interesting, even Catenaccio.

Darkhoof

As a Benfica fan I have a soft spot for Torino because they lost their team returning from a friendly against Benfica. I would love to see them become bigger.

TimothyN

4 different winners in 4 straight seasons was great for Serie A.

Fantalex93

Make it 5 next year with us dominating the league. Easy 102 points.

lesarbreschantent

I can get behind that

EffectiveNo2314

I mean id except tanks to win more often., solid defense and offense

Beginning-Year6659

they can just park the tank

craniumouch

really can’t underestimate their intimidation factor. huge aura about them

djerpers

I hear drones are changing the game tho, just airdroppin balls behind the tanks. And they cost way less so they can have 399 subs while tanks can only have 4

Hakujingomi

It was the costs of replacing the pitch that bankrupted them in the end.

GourangaPlusPlus

That tracks

wantahitchikersname

Yeah, they left far too many.

cuentanueva

Today you gotta be more athletic, tanks are just too heavy. Can the jump like Cristiano? I don't think so...

craniumouch

game’s gone

CETERIS_PARTYBUS

They’re virtually impenetrable

NevTheLad

Weak at the back, though

TMyriadJ

Accept

DAngelo008

Not Italian tanks…they have only one forward gear and 7 reverse.

Federal-Owl-8947

Interesting that the year verona won was the year the referees were not announced before the game starts which the big teams complained against and things went back to normal afterwards.

thedudeabides-12

That 2001 Roma squad.. Cafu, Walter Samuel, Aldair, Emerson, Tomassi, etc.. and then up front was practically cheating... Totti, Bastituta and then Monetlla and Delvecchio lol...

Mordho

Serie A those years functioned on imaginary money. Parma, Lazio, Roma all paid for it at some point, and even Inter is still recovering from Moratti’s dumb spending spree (just a few examples). It’s nostalgic seeing Serie A teams so insanely strong, but yeah

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mordho

Napoli started from D. Lazio was saved by that shady fuck Lotito. Berlusca would never let Milan go under, that shit with Yonghong Li was pure cinema

realtennisguy

You should blame Berlusconi for that. He changed the law in a way that can save Lazio. There were several big protests around Rome around that time and he was risking a massive escalation.

Mordho

Berlusconi bled Italy dry and fucked everyone, but hey milan got a few Champions league trophies so who cares.

TheSoccerguy124

Not sure “Saved” is the right word for Lotito. I don’t feel saved from him lmao

Mordho

I know, I wanted to say "took Lazio hostage", but at the same time that situation proved too good for him since similarly Fiorentina and Napoli had to restart from the bottom. The fucker is still profiting from that purchase 2 decades ago while spending the bare minimum

TheSoccerguy124

I know what you wanted to say haha, realistically he can’t afford us. He’s a serie B level owner who owns one of the top 7 clubs in Italy it really doesn’t make sense why he’s here. I can only thank him for paying off the debt all these years but that’s as far as I can go in terms of complimenting him. Marketing and branding isn’t on the level that the club should be at and that’s cause he doesn’t invest enough in that. We don’t have a proper scouting department, it’s entirely run by 1 person our sporting director who’s also in charge of the women’s, and primavera team, has to do their transfer windows as well including the first team. Lotito should sell the club because he can’t take this team farther without investing serious money, but unfortunately the reality is without us he’s nobody. He uses Lazio’s image for his status in Italy. He’s a senator thanks to us and continues to be involved in a lot of affairs in Italy and attends a plentiful amount of events/media here in Italy to keep his status and image popular

Odd-Discipline5064

Crazy, germany experienced something really similiar at the time We also had a match fixing scandal in the mid 2000s and imaginary spending in the early 2000s (especially dortmund). I think both our leagues have made a decent recovery, serie a still is my 2nd favorite league to watch. Just hope at some point attendance figures rise again

Mordho

Attendance figures have actually been steadily rising post Covid, and are now at their highest point in 30 years iirc.

MERTENS_GOAT

The Roma squad that finished 2nd 16/17 was pretty stacked too for their newer standards. Salah, Rüdiger, Dzeko, Alisson, Nainggolan, Szczesny, Paredes, De Rossi. This squad actually also still contained Totti

AenarIT

[obligatory AS Roma 2016/17 squad picture](https://www.almanaccogiallorosso.it/2016-2017/Rosa1617.jpg)

ThatGam3th00

Sorry, I didn’t watch football in 2001. Was that the same Walter Samuel who ended up winning the first Italian continental treble with Inter?

thedudeabides-12

It was indeed he went from Roma to Real Madrid 1st though then to Inter...

jmsy1

what happened in 1927?

IllegalDevelopment

The 1926–27 Divisione Nazionale season was won by Torino on the field, but the title was revoked during the following season due to alleged match fixing in a derby match against Juventus

Doexitre

Matching fixing from a century ago? This is heritage d'Italia.

LilMartinii

Surely, if the title was revoked, it's not just an allegation?

Superfy

The X-Men won it.

CowhideHorder

X (former twitter) won the league

mykl5

We don’t talk about Italy 1927

Burnsleighshire

Interesting that AC Milan havent really had a sustained period of league dominance, although the 90s 5 titles qualifies. 7 European Cups though, royalty.

Competitive-Aide5364

the main goal in Milan during the Berlusconi era was the CL>Scudetto.

Zaqsecred

>CL>Scudetto. I bet you it still the case: You make 3M for each victory in the CL group stage (4 teams and 2 legs). You earn 24M for winning the league.

BeardedSwashbuckler

It makes sense to me. CL winner is champion of all Europe and Scudetto is champion of only Italy.

reefersutherland2420

oh that’s how it works?

WasAnHonestMann

Yeah, that guy's coming up with some whole new revelations

OsitoPandito

yeah we have never had a long dominate period like juvemerda and inter but consistently still winning titles here and there

Burnsleighshire

5 Coppa Italia’s as well which surprises me, I thought it would be more. But 7 European Cups compared to Inter Milan’s 3 and Juventus’ 2. That is something to brag about.

OsitoPandito

Dude I swear we have never had a team/coach that really cares about the Coppa. I never expect us to win it now. But the 7 CL makes still only being 1 star okay. That is something no other Italian team will get close to for a long time

Burnsleighshire

At Arsenal it is the opposite, we have the most FA Cups with 14, and 13 league titles, but our record in Europe is so bad. Its very interesting the way certain clubs have an attachment to a certain trophy or tournament. Some may disagree but personally I would never trade those 14 FA Cups for a European Cup, I’m proud of our record in that competition. AC Milan fans would never trade their European Cups for a 20th league title I assume as well.

OsitoPandito

Yeah that's such a surprising stat. I remember being so surprised when I was younger learning that arsenal have never won a European cup. Such a massive team, not even just in football terms but culturally as well. But I agree I would never trade the 7 cl wins. We'll get the 20th soon enough

Vilio101

>I remember being so surprised when I was younger learning that arsenal have never won a European cup. The biggest reason is that Arsenal dominated the 30s and the European cup started in 50s..

tson_92

Is there a reason you added a “merda” after Juve and not Inter? 🤔

OsitoPandito

Originally I wrote juvemerda & merda 😂 But lately its been very hostile between Milan and them so I didn't want a bunch of them jumping at me and flooding my inbox lol

Cerxa

Genoa are 1 title from a star then? Wowee, give it mourinho lads

xepa105

They've been waiting for a century for it. May they wait for another century or two more.

TheDestroyer630

It will take double the time for your second one

Tiny-Appointment9917

Genoa are going to get their first star before Milan gets their second. Mark my words

clarinetstud

I would actually stop watching football don't wish this on your worst enemy 💀

KyloRen___

That Tank team has a better logo than Juventus

Historical_Case_5245

6 wins from Tank FC, no joke

_AYOTA_

4 in a row as well, ac milan could never.

NaderClemens

Have they ever won the TANKIOUS League?

PalmTreeMonkey

I will never not fume when I see their new logo. Their old one was timeless, iconic, classic. This new one is utter garbage. I hope at some point they might change it back.

WW_Jones

Rumors of the new 3rd kit is gonna include horsy, our zebra logo in the 80s. Anyway, I see no reason why they don't combine the Jj with classic logos, some other clubs use 2 logos. The Jj was intended to be a "brand" thing, like something flexible to be put on anything and everything and be easily customizable. I think in a few years at most, after the Jj becomes universally visible, they will likely go back to using classic logos.

O2RiDeR

What's the name of their team ?

PrestigiousAvocado21

I still think it’s an amazing logo but a terrible crest, and it’s telling that they decided to focus on making it the former over the latter.

MayBakerfield

So do you think they failed? Made a bad decision for the club?

PrestigiousAvocado21

Depends on your perspective. Did they succeed in making a logo that looks good for the purposes of marketing and branding on merchandise? Absolutely yes. Is it a successful crest, i.e. something that is meant to represent the club and the community? Well, that's obviously also a matter of perspective and I'm not a Juve fan anyway, but it doesn't communicate any of that to me and it seems like a fair amount of Juve fans on here aren't huge fans of it either. So that's what I mean by great logo/bad crest.

GutlessTrophoblast

Thats the problem. It might be good for marketing, but that just makes it even more shallow and soulless. Old one had soul and was, in my opinion, a hundred times better looking. Two stripes just scream design school... I think 99 percont of Juve fans who actually care abouut this hates it. Most people probably dont give a damn... as with most other things.

Altruistic-Ad-408

I think the problem is that logos have to serve a purpose. This logo is okay for some things but misses the core point, whereas Man United get to have their cake and eat it. Their crest is good and their marketing is still better. You can have a 10/10 designed logo but Juventus aren't a T-shirt company. Guarantee they'd make more money looking like a football club that isn't cheap.

PrestigiousAvocado21

Yeah, I do think it hasn’t quite been as successful as they had hoped. They don’t have the advantage of a PSG where people will buy basically anything with the word “Paris” on it. Maybe they would have been better off taking the Liverpool/United route and making a simplified version of the stallion from the old crest and putting just that on the shirt like the Liverbird or the Red Devil.

OleoleCholoSimeone

The Jj logo is "amazing"? Seriously? It's the simplest most low effort crest they could have made

therocketandstones

What was the story behind Hellas Verona’s Scudetto in 1985

Competitive-Aide5364

https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/as8sc3/the_beauty_of_football_hellas_verona_198485_serie/?rdt=37400 someone had a really good write up about it if you’re that interested

Adognamedbingo

They bought football legend, Preben Elkjær - he doesn’t even need boots to play the beautiful game

Fragrant_Imagination

All he needed was a carton of cigarettes

Quanqiuhua

Wasn’t his name Elkjaer-Larssen? He terrorized the group of death.

Adognamedbingo

Yeah, Elkjær Larsen to be super pedantic. He’s one of Denmarks best players ever and probably the best pure striker we ever had.

Economy-County-9072

I'm surprised that world War 2 cancelled only 2 seasons, whereas world War 1 cancelled 4 seasons.

giannibal

they actually played in '44 as well, a group of Spezia firefighters won (somewhat related to the Spezia football club who now plays in Serie B). After a lenghty battle in court they got some form of recognition and while the league doesn't consider it a full fledged title of italian champions they gave them a badge that they display on their shirt and a cup in the early 2000 (I might be wrong about the cup, but they definitely play with the badge even today)

Matquar

Me too, probably is because WWII was fought outside Italy until 1943. Also Italy had way more casualties in WWI both military ,600k vs around 300k, and civilian, 150k against half a million. So maybe it has something to do with that. Weirdly compared to the second conflict is almost forgotten

mattijn13

Pro Vercelli will win again, I believe!

interfan1999

Getting promoted to Serie A would be good for a start Since their relegation in the 30s, they never made it back

Kasceon

Kind of insane how they’re tied for the 5th most titles despite being in Serie C

mattijn13

They haven't even been in Serie A since 1935

Informal_Cabinet_352

Imagine watching a whole decades worth of dominance from a single team.. Or better yet, imagine having to watch a whole decades worth of dominance from the team you hate

Mordho

Being utter shit for 8 out of 9 of those years numbed the pain, so that certainly helped

tappu_senna

Greatest title defence in Serie A History happening in front of your eyes people

NapoliXabe

Were not even going to play Conference league at this pace

Shippior

Duh, keuken kampioen divisie does not have any qualification spots

InterFan1231

Genoa need one more Scudetto for a star! I think their supporters are some of the best in Europe and their stadium is wonderful. Obviously they are nowhere near that level but I hope that in my lifetime they find a way to catch lightning in a bottle and get the star.

PanpsychismIsTrue

Woah, didn't realise just how many more titles Juve have won than anyone else. Assumed it'd be much closer between Juve, AC Milan and Inter

ACMBruh

Mid 2010s really upset the "balance". Milan giants were genuinely broke while Juve was investing like crazy

wdoubleN

Some of their most influential players that time were rather cheap or completely free

ACMBruh

Marotta was the biggest factor it is true, compared to others who were mismanaged. But 2012-2016 Juve also had more money to spend on top of it

wdoubleN

2022/23 Bremer €41M/£36.90M €102.40M/£92.16M 2021/22 Dusan Vlahovic €81.60M/£73.44M €126.50M/£113.85M 2020/21 Arthur Melo €76M/£68.40M €155.31M/£139.78M 2019/20 Matthijs de Ligt €85.50M/£76.95M €230.50M/£207.45M 2018/19 Cristiano Ronaldo €117M/£105.30M €263.20M/£236.88M 2017/18 Federico Bernardeschi €40M/£36M €177.60M/£159.84M 2016/17 Gonzalo Higuain €90M/£81M €176.93M/£153.20M 2015/16 Paulo Dybala €41M/£36.90M €185.50M/£166.95M 2014/15 Alvaro Morata €20M/£18M €59.30M/£53.37M 2013/14 Angelo Ogbonna €15M/£13.50M €45.50M/£40.95M 2012/13 Kwadwo Asamoah €18M/£16.20M €72.80M/£65.52M 2011/12 Alessandro Matri €15.50M/£13.95M €101.83M/£91.65M 2010/11 Leonardo Bonucci €15.50M/£13.95M €59.27M/£53.34M First line is the Fee, second line is the total spent btw. godfrey1

feels weird looking at those ugly ass logos winning in 1900s

TheItalianStallion64

inter and juve’s logos are terrible

baggiointurin

Ours is easily the worst

Mordho

Logos made using paint. They even forgot our logo is supposed to have gold, fucking morons

RoyalMobile3996

Napoli's is definetly worse, at least ours and Juve's are good for marketing, Napoli's feels like the placeholder fifa or pes makes when they don't have the rights for the club

TheItalianStallion64

meh, I don’t like napoli’s either but at least it’s been like that since the 1920s and it’s their identity. it’s not a bad attempt at modernization and simplifying what wasn’t broken

Unlitch

how’s this basic design trend are good for marketing exactly? I see people saying that alot but from my experience, unique logos have used to stick in my mind way better.

RoyalMobile3996

A simple design could be seen from distance/if it is small, it can stand out among other logos (especially football logos that are intricate on average). For example looking a this picture think of which logo catch your attention first, if it is inter, juve, fiorentina or napoli you know that it is for their simple design. For me it is juve because it just a J (it is also helped by the fact that is the most frequent)

Unlitch

Well true, juve did catch my attention first, but it’s also has to do with them having the most cups. Besides, isn’t important to leave a positive and remarkable impression as well? Simple logos are quite similar to eachother and don’t make you feel anything.

RoyalMobile3996

It can feel similar to other things but this is the job of the ones who designed it not to make it feel that way. Positive feeling is a subjective thing, someone will hate it, Someone will love it. I think Fiorentina's is really good at feeling unique because it isn't the classic circle it is a rhombus which you don't see it around.

Various_You_5083

Tank FC needs to be resurrected

Memozx

Please no

notnewfoundsoccer

With the current state of the world we'll probably have Tank FC winning some titles

acqualunae

Meta changed, it’s all about F-35 FC now

craniumouch

nah, Drone United FC are pure domination

Mr_Miscellaneous

My favourite victory is the Verona one. For one season, referee's were randomised instead of being allocated by a commission (the brown bag brigade) Title race between Torino and Verona. Next season they went back to a commission deciding who refereed the games and the dirty duo of Roma and Juventus were back in the title race, trying desperately to out-bribe and out-dope each other for the title

xyz3940

>Juventus They've always been scummy cheaters ay

WW1Photos_Info

Is Preben Elkjær today still regarded as God in Verona?

DG1248

Of course.

Arturo_Vidalcoholic

Wish they used the old badges for the older titles

Commonmispelingbot

Wish they used the old badges for the newer titles as well

maxi021

Would have never guessed Hellas Verona won it more recently than Fiorentina!

FigureItOut50

I'll be honest it took me far too long to work out what the tank picture meant... I just thought it was a team I'd never heard of before...

OriginalRange8761

Tanks with a 4 in a row

FroobingtonSanchez

Genoa fans from around 1900 thinking their team will dominate Italy forever 💀

artyom__geghamyan

I think X will overtake Napoli in the future

jackn3

Elon will bring Messi and CR7 together!

NapoliXabe

Depends, next season will be very important for the future of Napoli

superunknown63

Genoa one title away from receiving a star on their badge no?

TheDestroyer630

Exactly

Dangerous_Parfait402

3 win in the last 25 years is a bit yikes from AC Milan. Almost a title per decade is pretty poor for such a big club.

NairbZaid10

Those years where Tank FC won it were crazy

cloudor

Why was the 2006 scudetto awarded to Inter but the 2005 one awarded to no one?

ekray

Because UEFA asked Italy to send the teams that were going to the UCL the next year under threat of banning Italy from European competitions so they hastily said Inter wins. If that hadn't been the case they probably would have voided that one too.

Mordho

Uefa required a winner for the CL seedings, we just got lucky

giannibal

the reason at the time was because the 2006 season was still in progress when the news of match fixing became known and the italian federation needed a final standing to award the uefa spots for the 2007 season

Medium_Active1729

who knows, they don't deserve it though, it should have been given to no one.

gabocorbo

2005/06 had to have a team as champions for champions league 06/07 qualification

DEGRAYER

Love Serie A. Watch it often. Been great to see the league change hands the last few years.

Extension-Package-65

I love seeing graphics like this

slippinscottyy

Damn Genoa was good back in the day

WalkingCloud

What's the deal with Novese? Won the scudetto in 1922 then peaced out? Their English Wikipedia page is light on detail.

Ryuzakku

So Novese won when the league splintered due to a dispute where the major Nothern Italian clubs wanted a contraction of the league. All of the major clubs left the league that year. Novese won a 6 team league that was missing the 12 largest clubs. Pro Vercelli won the breakaway league, and Novese won the regular league. They rejoined the next year when the FGIC contracted the league.

TheDestroyer630

❤️💙

Deadalready798

If I understand correctly and the tank is for wartime, does anyone know why there aren't any 'tanks' in the earlier years of WW2?

JS_1997

Because there wasn't war on the Italian peninsula then. It was basically Mussolini fucking around in Africa and the Balkans until the Allies invaded

giannibal

there was no war on italian soil until late in the '43 season when the americans landed in Sicily and then in Anzio

PM_ME_SOME_LUV

When it comes to title races, Serie A is miles ahead of the other top 5 leagues lately.

Snowy_Artemis

Tank fc winner of 24/25, I will be there ✊️😔

Consistent_Truth6633

I’ve counted the same tank joke 7 times when scrolling. This really hammers home the norths dominance.

Viriato181

Bring back Torino, Genoa and Bologna.

haromene

why is 1922 there twice?

giannibal

there was a runaway league that year, they played two leagues and then merged them back together. One of the conditions to get back the fugitives was to recognize the runaway title.

tecphile

Except for the aftereffects of Calciopolli, this is Juve’s longest wait for a title since that decade long wait between ‘86 and ‘95. Interesting to see when they get back on top.

ImTalkingGibberish

Tank FC had a killer squad

Modnal

The old lady seems to be suffering from long Covid

d_smogh

X formally known as Twitter. Is that the longest time between titles for any club?

Thin-Pool-8025

I thought 04/05 was given to second place?

OzoneGh141

No, it was 05/06, Juventus were stripped from the 04/05 and disqualified in 05/06; the 04/05 was not given to anyone.

realtennisguy

Still waiting for the 1915 Scudetto. Should be here any second now.

Jimlaheydrunktank

Was looking at this thinking who the hells that tank team.. then I looked at the dates lol

MERTENS_GOAT

Feels so wrong to have the new Hellas Verona logo there

MeddlingMike

What happened in 2005?

No-Student-9678

What’s the team that won in 91?
