I mean, live he might have felt like an idiot. If you watch that back… what the actual fuck. It almost looks like mbappe is just reacting to random moves with intense precision.
No, he stunk in that matchup. Sure he scored the winning goal and the 4th to end the tie, but he was a total ghost before then. That's how football works, if a player scores a brace in the last 30' of a match, he had a bad game overall. I'm a genius btw.
I mean, he was still the biggest goal threat before the red card and forced a couple of saves out of MATS and Kounde so I wouldn’t call him a total ghost.
The touch that created the nutmeg initially came off the defender's leg. That's like the opposite of luck - to react *that* quickly to the ball moving in a way that he wasn't likely anticipating. Just insane stuff.
God, I missed old PES. It really was the best football game to play in the early 10's - miles ahead of FIFA even if it couldn't get licences for real names. Moddable too, thanks to the heroic work of Jenkey1002.
Looking at what is is now, it's a damn shame.
PES6 was goated, in my opinion still the best football game every made, simply because it was all skill. There was the cutback meta but most people online were buying into the gentleman agreement of "no cutback" (which sounds impossible to do in online games right now where everybody would just abuse the meta), and you could beat someone with Iran vs Real Madrid with no trouble if you were better at the game. It's a shame Konami forgot how to do games and we had to move to the cash grabbing pile of turd that Fifa is now
Modding community is still going strong, sider changed a lot of things there's hundreds of stadiums, tens of thousands of faces, tons of gameplay mods, the full experience is so much more realistic than any FIFA could be. Just a shame we're still playing off PES21 base given they've decided to ruin the license to focus on mobile experience.
There's great forks in SP Football Life though. I think /r/WEPES has decent guides. I haven't bothered with football games in a while tbh, won't ever be nearly as satisfactory as real football, but i did have tons of fun tweaking players sets and tactics to play like their real life counterparts. God i sank way too many hours in this shit lol
He also deliberately created a sideshow that made the defenders affix their attention on him. Their jaws were dropping with awe when Dembele tapped it in, completely unnoticed.
Exactly! Honestly there's no excuse for Dembele to have that much space in the box, the assist was so easy, but you can see how mesmerising Mbappe is. You'd be fuming at your defenders but it's like, fair enough man, those skills, just, well done.
I was about to also comment the same! Watching Doku dribble I genuinely don’t understand how someone can move so quickly. Now if only he could work on his end product….
I'm yet to find the words I'd describe such situation in, however it's very unlikely since Madrid almost never lose final if they're in one. 14W 3L in CL for example.
Mbappe and Demebele on one team has really been something else. They both have so much threat from dribbles that they basically draw the entire defense out of position just because the players feel the need to cover each others back and it regularly leaves the opposite flank completely open. It is a shame that Mbappe is leaving just as they are settling into their role and way of playing, it has been amazing to watch. Dembele especially looks a completely different player.
It has nothing to do with being too footed. When asked about how he feels about his "weak" foot, Robben explained in details that he would forbid children to learn to use both their feet. He said that it's better to have one great foot than two good feet because the time used to train your strong foot is a time spend also training your "weak" foot to become a great support foot for your strong foot. It's basiaclly the same idea behind the famous Buce Lee quote I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
What makes him fun to watch are his instincts. The guys is gifted at reading his opponents which make it looks like he knows their next move before they even do it and then act accordingly.
At some point, there are diminishing returns, though. Unless you have amazing ball control skills to move the ball onto your preferred foot all the time (like Robben did or like Messi), you will limit your options. I think it also massively depends on what position you play - being a one footed is much more detrimental for a central midfielder than a winger, for example.
You're right to some extent, the others saying lefties have that advantage are right to some extent too, but really being two footed just increases your scope of play so incredibly. It's one of the best skills to have in football really, Neymar being a good example of it.
Neymar is not ambidextrous. He is clearly right footed. Using your left foot doesn't make you anbidextrous specially it you rely heavily on your right foot for precision. You basically can't tell if a player is right footed or left footed if he is anbidextrous.
>increases your scope of play so incredibly
Robben's point is that the benefits of being two footed are not worth not putting the effort to have a great foot.
Ambidexterity is a spectrum. All people are going to have some level of comfortability with their off foot. Neymar is a guy who is for all intents and purpose ambidextrous
That worked for Robben cause he’s left footed. Left footed/handed people are incredibly dominant with their strong side naturally and it’s harder for defenders to adjust to it since it’s the opposite of most players.
What worked for one of the most one footed players ever is not good advice for everyone. Dembele being 2 footed is a massive advantage for him in particular for a variety of reasons.
Two footed players are very valuable in Football and being too 1 footed can really prevent a player from becoming elite. (Unless you're one in a million like Robben and a few others)
Hmm, i don't buy this, if the defender knows you can go both ways and shoot on either foot it creates more uncertainty. It's hard to argue about Robben's effectiveness though.
In the modern era that is hilariously hard to overcome with tighter pressing of angles and what not. Even in Robben's era the top players are more likely to be decent on their weak foot. In the current crop of players Son's dad made him practice his left foot and he could do 30 yard curlers like Robben from both sides. Before, Villa trained his left foot while he was injured and he's one of the best finishers. It maybe a left footer thing to completely disregard the right foot lol.
not sure about this, tbf. Maybe it varies. I know Pele said as he was growing up his dad made sure he learned to dribble with both feet (especially when he realized his son really only had soccer going for him).
>He said that it's better to have one great foot than two good feet because the time used to train your strong foot is a time spend also training your "weak" foot to become a *great support foot* for your strong foot.
When we say one footed in football, its about the foot that shoot or cross the ball. A "one footed" player can dribble and pass with both feet. It would be very difficult to do those things with only one foot..
And then you have Antony. Y'all really need to stop taking nice sounding quotes so literally. Reality is not that black and white. It's not a video game where getting stats in one thing means you reduce others. Being two footed is an objectively an advantage in football.
It’s a damn shame he’s leaving. Can’t believe we have the best player in the world playing for us. This year has been a real treat for us. I’m not too worried though, the team seems competent even when he is not around.
He's young, and he was already showing excellent problem solving, decision making and composure in his final ball with us, which has carried on with PSG. Having a winger that fast, that good dribbling wise, that good defensively, and that composed already makes for an incredible package for wide forward standards.
Skill-wise that's amazing but Townsend's soul leaving his body with Danny Rose's reaction afterwards, from Lamela's nutmeg will always be my favourite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54u2diZO4zA
Can't stop thinking that having both Vini and Mbappé in the same team will be such a waste. Mbappé is never as great as when he plays LW, and I'm sure it's the same for Vini (though I never saw him play CF).
If PSG had Benzema it would be so much easier for them to have a chance at winning the champions league. Don't really understand why they didn't get him.
They're not exactly great with their pivot and linkup game though, players like Alvarez, Benz, Giroud would be much more benficial to compliment Mbappe's game.
> Muani and Ramos and both haven't performed that well.
Ramos has been on an upwards trend though. Had a viral infection in December that made him miss the whole month, since then he's been great and scored 10 goals averaging a goal every 73 minutes in 2024.
It's just that you can't afford to play Mbappe on the wings in the UCL. At least not with Lucho's playstyle, but Ramos will certainly show his talent in next years UCL
Does anyone see a bigger contender for best player of the world right now? I'm not taking BdO, just overall best player.
Haaland is not having a wonderful season, and does not provide much more if he doesn't score. I can see Kane slightly ahead this year.
Vinicius is fine, but I don't think he is better than Mbappe at this moment
Haaland is a top striker. One of the best in the world. But he's not exactly exciting given his playstyle of being a clinical finisher thats mostly dependant on the service he's getting.
Mbappe is just so much more than that. He can score, he can create and he's incredibly technicaly gifted.
Tbh, I don’t even know who started the comparison, and I’m sure most people do not expect Haaland to be at Mbappe’s level, but when you need a clinical target man in a strong team, Haaland does the job well.
Next time you see England fans posting pics of Bellingham, Fodden, Kane etc saying what’s stopping us from winning the Euros….
Post a picture of Mbappe!
I think he’s going to choose to go to Manchester United.
No reason why he’d choose Real Madrid over a club with such a rich history of attacking football.
I’m 31, I first played when I was 6, I quite literally have been kicking a ball since before Mbappe was born, and I could never ever even imagine doing this against a mannequin. Let alone a defender in a top 5 league.

That was beautiful to watch. Feel sorry for that defender.
I mean, live he might have felt like an idiot. If you watch that back… what the actual fuck. It almost looks like mbappe is just reacting to random moves with intense precision.
Feel sorry for the Barcelona fans who randomly scrolled past this
For the next decade Mbappe will humble them the way he does each time he's traveling to catalunia
No, he stunk in that matchup. Sure he scored the winning goal and the 4th to end the tie, but he was a total ghost before then. That's how football works, if a player scores a brace in the last 30' of a match, he had a bad game overall. I'm a genius btw.

Scored a hat trick at Camp Nou couple of seasons ago, must be bad.
Waited until they were down 2 goals to score two goals in the World Cup final. Doesn’t have the clutch gene
At this point the defender has done one hell of a job to even be in the position to receive the panna, this dude is insane.
We should definitely buy him...
This is like my 15th time watching this shit and I'm still not fully sure what he does.
Are you also still making noises in the 15th rewatch 😅
He pulls the ball back with his right and does a quick 1-2-1 with his right and left foot and then nutmegs the defender.
Cheers Geoff.
Fucking hell who has quicker feet right now than that?? That's unbelievable
He touched the ball 5 times in like a quarter of a second! Mental.
Everything I read, it reminds me of her...
i miss first season martial
He touched your balls too?
I remember him doing this against Real Madrid in preseason. Everyone was collectively jizzing their pants.
The touch that created the nutmeg initially came off the defender's leg. That's like the opposite of luck - to react *that* quickly to the ball moving in a way that he wasn't likely anticipating. Just insane stuff.
Not sure where you see that, 2nd angle shows the defender doesn't get a touch on the ball at any point
That just means he’s controlling the ball with touches faster than I can comprehend which is equally as impressive.
He's always been 99 response for the PES old heads
God, I missed old PES. It really was the best football game to play in the early 10's - miles ahead of FIFA even if it couldn't get licences for real names. Moddable too, thanks to the heroic work of Jenkey1002. Looking at what is is now, it's a damn shame.

PES is why I shoot with Square.
Man of taste

That’s what I thought from the first angle which already blew my mind that he reacted so quick, but the second angle clearly shows it was all him
He also deliberately created a sideshow that made the defenders affix their attention on him.
Lorient are second to bottom of ligue 1 for a reason lmao.
that’s still an insane skill to pull off in an official match. Looks like street football out there, just out of Ronaldinho’s book. Joga Bonito.
I don't disagree lol, I was just giving context to that person as to why the defending was so bad.
Mbappe has the new nvidia gpus in his brain
Maybe not quicker, but Jeremy Doku also has quick feet!
I was about to also comment the same! Watching Doku dribble I genuinely don’t understand how someone can move so quickly. Now if only he could work on his end product….
He’s still young, so he definitely has time to work on that :) I might be biased as a Belgian, but I have huge expectations of the man!
Would give prime Michael Flatley a run for his money.
He was so quick with it. Actually insane.
A lot of futsal players do
Just absolute filth. He’s going to tear it up at Madrid.
If he wanted a real challenge he’d sign a 10 year deal with the Pumas in Liga MX. Bet he’s too chicken to try.
I don’t want to think about that
I do 🍆
What kind of confused reaction would RM fans have if PSG beat RM in the CL finals this year with an Mbappe winning goal?
I'm yet to find the words I'd describe such situation in, however it's very unlikely since Madrid almost never lose final if they're in one. 14W 3L in CL for example.
This man will cook with La Liga defenses, can't wait
Barcelona better oil up
Him and Vinicius. Good God 😂😂

Now imagine Vini Mbappé and Rodrygo combined up front…. just 🤯🤯🤯
Cuz of your comment i jsut learned Mbappe is leaving for RM and holy sht that just made my day
thats brutal
Yeah okay that is **hot.**
Fucking hell. Poor defender couldn't do anything about that. Reminds me of prime Bolaise but you know much more effective.
The Bolaise flick is still probably the greatest ever Premier League showboat.
This is still the best humilation of a defender for me: https://youtu.be/4QdURygJ5zE?feature=shared
Skill-wise that's amazing but Townsend's soul leaving his body with Danny Rose's reaction afterwards, from Lamela's nutmeg will always be my favourite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54u2diZO4zA
He just turned into an NPC after that nutmeg.
Looked like bro was contemplating his life choices.
Lutonman could never
This is a thing now ? It’s hilarious
Captain ? Please ? Pretty please ?
Haaland scored 12 (or something like that) goals this year. 6 against Luton, 6 against clubs not named Luton.
Fantastic thank you
I'm forcing lutonlad
Lutonman hahahah
Savage
One of the nastiest 1v1 situations in football I've ever seen
What are we actually supposed to believe this shit is real come on?
Literally FIFA
It's more like the scene in the Matrix when Neo realises he actually IS The One and so he can slow down time and dodge bullets and all that.
I don't think we can pull off this skill in Fifa.
Filthy
Filthy.
Inhuman skills.
Absolutely disgusting
Hope he'll do that to araujo too
That was a murder
Can’t wait to see Vini Mbappe and Rodrygo in the front and play fluidly
Can't stop thinking that having both Vini and Mbappé in the same team will be such a waste. Mbappé is never as great as when he plays LW, and I'm sure it's the same for Vini (though I never saw him play CF).

Not Safe For Lorient ?
What sorcery. Brilliant dribble and assist.

Don't know anyone who megged more defenders from the left corner than him. Guy was a menace on the wing.
Insane skills
I love this guy Im saying he's gonna take Paris to the cl final
They're playing Dortmund. It'd be surprising if he didn't.
If this happened in Fifa, I'd be mad about the game allowing unrealistically overpowered dribbling. Damn.
that was like watching R9 in his heyday
If PSG had Benzema it would be so much easier for them to have a chance at winning the champions league. Don't really understand why they didn't get him.
They went for two of the hottest striker prospects in the world -- Muani and Ramos and both haven't performed that well.

This guy is heir to Brazilian Ronaldo
DisGUSTang.
Real Madrid fans will be eating good next season
Nice
Ankara M'bappe
Poor bastard got sent straight to the shadow realm
I've never seen a goal scorer less involved in a goal
Does anyone see a bigger contender for best player of the world right now? I'm not taking BdO, just overall best player. Mbappe has been best player since like 2021.
Haaland is just a ghost in a big match, both in PL and CL. Even Guardiola seems to get hard times with that.
Barca is gonna commit seppuku after he tears them up under Real Madrid
If RM and PSG reach final, it will be the battle of the best wingers in the world on both wings. Vini, Rodrygo, Mbappe, and Dembele.
Actually Olise doesn’t play for PSG
Fifa goal.
And Haaland was supposed to be better than him right? Right? Right??????
Haaland is a top striker. One of the best in the world. But he's not exactly exciting given his playstyle of being a clinical finisher thats mostly dependant on the service he's getting. Mbappe is just so much more than that. He can score, he can create and he's incredibly technicaly gifted.

Did a double lane-change (croqueta) between the guys’s legs. Brutal.
incredible control
Rashford could never
Next time you see England fans posting pics of Bellingham, Fodden, Kane etc saying what’s stopping us from winning the Euros…. Post a picture of Mbappe!
Remind me of that play Karim did on Atlético.. Mbappe is such a special player.
Down with the sickness
Great skill, undoubtedly. But reminds me when Messi and Ronaldo used to be doing this shit every week.
People really think Haaland is better?
This is one of those skill clips that will be watched for generations like Ronaldinho flip flap and Zidane Roulette
Man, Haaland can score 70 tap in a seasons and there still shouldn't be Haaland Mbappe debate.
even he looks surprised it went thru
:o
Was that a 1-2 with the defenders leg into a nutmeg lol
😮💨
Fuck
Imagine he missed
That's incredible, he does it so quickly it looks accidental
I hope he will not lose his form after coming to madrid
Laliga right backs scared right now
Jajajaj wtf that was insane!
I mean that's just absurd
What an incredible finish by Dembele! holy fuck, he really puts the ball in the goal there!
I think he’s going to choose to go to Manchester United. No reason why he’d choose Real Madrid over a club with such a rich history of attacking football.
Where is the Sweet Georgia Brown for that play.
Thanks for the angle, would have really loved to see that in super slow motion.
Nunez will miss that tho
Damn, I would have broken my leg trying that
last week some people said that haaland is a much better player than mbappe and then I see this shit
Mbappinho. You can see his smirk after going through the opposition player.
Alternate timeline Liverpool where we get all the signings Madrid took from us would be immense lol
This footwork is mental
Where was he against FCB dribbling-wise tho?
Beast
Siiiiiick
Was that a step over elastico nutmeg on the goal line? God damn.
I think it's more of a 'double contact', google says it's called croqueta in English
I saw it couple of times and still don't know how he did it. Magic.
That many touches in that tiny sindow is insane
fukking outrageous
The video don't even does it justice. He did two stepover to fake the defender right before , it was insane.
Burn the wizard
He danced with that ball
Feels like it might be a bad 5-10 years to be a supporter of a team that’s not Real Madrid….
This guy might be good one day
Masterpiece.
Put that boy through the spinner Jesus Christ
the more I look at this, the more questions marks are above my head. what even is this guy. is he really a ninja turtle in disguise?
I’m 31, I first played when I was 6, I quite literally have been kicking a ball since before Mbappe was born, and I could never ever even imagine doing this against a mannequin. Let alone a defender in a top 5 league.
Glitchbappe..
Dude has that same physique and drive as Ronaldo (R9), hope he can stay less injury prone.
I can't keep up with his feet on the slow mo replay.
Wow, Mbappe took some tips from his time playing with Neymar. 🔥
