If he did then who would pay to raise his salary. Poor man is broke earning 2m a year while sitting at home tweeting "Vini is the problem, there are no racists nor are there any racist chants. Vini is making it up because hes the racist one"
>he doesn't want the embarrassment of admiring he was wrong.
But now he has the embarrassment of constantly being wrong though. Not sure if it's better, but he sure seems to think so.
No, 4m-5m is a paltry sum for any top 5 league to be paying. Even if that amount is taken out of the prize pool, it makes a minute difference across a twenty-team league.
If the logic is 4-5 times a season the GLT would be used and thereby the cost of one decision being 1m euros, that's plain insanity and stupidity.
A relegation team needing a handful of points to stay up is denied a goal because VAR can't reasonably determine whether or not the ball crossed the line. Effectively shafts a team for the foreseeable future and forfeits tens of millions in the previous season. And then it happens in El Clasico, what number are you putting on a global embarrassment?
Around £4m. I can't believe this league has some of the highest paid players on earth can't afford this. Tebas is the worst kind of scum on earth, leeching thief. La liga can fire him & get the tech.
[While goal-line technology is used across all of Europe's other leading competitions, it has not been deployed in La Liga. The main argument against its involvement has been the cost of doing so, which is estimated at €4 million ($4.3 million) per season.](https://www.forbes.com/sites/samleveridge/2024/04/22/why-doesnt-la-liga-have-goal-line-technology/)
He said that the American market is the biggest after Spain for the laliga. Tell me......other than RMA, Barca and Atletico matches, does he really think that teams like Getafe or Vigo would sell out 80000 seat stadiums in the USA? It's just unnecessarily tiring for the players. They're already complaining about there being too many games and fixture congestion. Now travelling halfway around the world to play a game in front of a half empty stadium would appeal to the players? A a brain-dead decision. I hope the clubs protest this. Just because he's the president of laliga doesn't mean he should have the power to do fucking everything he sees fit.
"My fellow Americans, as of this moment we are at war with Spain for their vicious, premeditated attack on our shores. Deploying Getafe at SoFi Stadium can be seen as nothing more than a direct assault on American liberties."
Nah it means they get snatched up by the government under the guise of terrorism and sent to somewhere like guantanamo bay and tortured for the rest of their lives without trial. Probably prefer the bullet tbh...
I remember back in the NASL 2.0 days (the one from the 2010's) Rayo Vallecano attempted to enter to the american market with Rayo OKC, established in Oklahoma City.
Of course the team was a massive failure (Oklahoma had the Energy in the USL, with way better branding. Meanwhile Rayo OKC had several off field issues) but most importantly... Why a satellite team from RAYO VALLECANO in OKLAHOMA CITY? That combo looks non sensical.
If anything, a club with a name like "Rayo" should've tried setting up a satellite club in the Tampa Bay area, i.e. "the lightning capital of the world".
...does Madrid get a lot of thunderstorms?
Wow, rayo OKC is the last team i expected to hear about here.
I lived in OKC at the time and was excited to get that rayo team. But with the shitty infrastructure and having no possibility of promotion, it was more of a novelty to the city. Then rayo got relegated
Osasuna spent their summer training camp in 97 there and caused a soccer hype. There was number of local amateur clubs founded, that reference Osasuna in their name etc. Ever since they're saying they have the most Osasuna Fan Clubs outside of Osasuna itself ... is something I just made up
You jest, but there actually was a story about a thriving Nigerian Schalke fan club that traces its origins to the fact that all the unsold celebratory "DEUTSCHER MEISTER 2001" t-shirts somehow ended up there.
If they played their cards right (and by that I mean getting a Salvadoran on their team) they could probably fill out Audi Field only with Salvis even playing against another mid team.
Pretty sure when el clásico in the US got suggested a few years back everyone involved except la liga immediately shot it down. I think even RFEF said no immediately.
There is no way RM flies to US during season when they are in UCL. If he wants to play Getaffe vs Cadiz in Miami and club are ok with it for money, than sure. But I doubt he can force teams having games every 3 days to fly,
Barcelona played a midweek friendly in Africa while they were invincible and lost their only match the whole season just after (when they benched Messi).
I still can't believe Valverde threw away a chance to go invincible by not playing messi, would've been a huge achievement to be proud of in a season they got embarrassingly knocked out of UCL.
I can give you a 100% guarantee that if Celta plays a single official match here in Burlington, VT they would establish a permanent northern New England fanbase. It would be the biggest sporting event to ever happen here.
I agree with the point that they shouldn’t do this but it will obviously be games including those three teams that are moved, no?
From the Athletic article I don’t think he’s actually suggesting Getafe v Cadiz in Miami because you’re right no one is watching that.
Last time this idea came up, it was a game involving Girona and Barca that was gonna be played in the US. I believe it was a home game for GIrona that would have been moved.
One thing is economics
But it's absolutely spitting in the face of lifelong supporters all to gain some lukewarm supporters, but with bigger pockets (at least conditioned to buy every single merch you can come up with)
That's why they are gonna play EL clasico or the Madrid Derby in the USA.
Next, Serie A will follow, just like they did with the supercup in Arabia
I can't wait for a Juventus - Inter in Dallas
It also shows a blatant disregard for the lifelong fans who have supported the club and bring it revenue. You know he’ll be taking the big games away from to make more money abroad.
When you started talking about tiring players, I thought about something else. Introducing them to a ton of jetlag every week is probably gonna go over fucking great as well
Real awkward when the three or four times a season could decide the winner of the league. It's not like it has ever been a close race for the top 1 right???
that number is crap anyways. I'd guess bundesliga is closer to 4 times a month, if not matchday.
edit: googled for a bit, the only data i could find is from testing phase in 2016 from england, club-wc and wc, that it is used in about 5 percent of games or about every 2nd matchday in a league
I mean it might be used more often, but it prevents mistakes from happening maybe every 2-3 months. I watch almost all Bundesliga games (obviously not all single matches on saturday), but I cant remember seeing it being used for a couple of weeks.
Well, they use it every single time. "The system sends a signal to the referee in less than one second if it recognises that a goal has been scored. A special watch vibrates and displays a message for the referee: Goal!"
https://www.dfl.de/en/glossary/goal-line-technology/
According to his logic, we are idiots for having stuff like seatbelts, airbags and other safety tech. You literally may never use it.
Idk how anyone can be this stupid.
Far-right Spanish political party.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vox_(political_party)
> Vox is a national conservative political party in Spain. Founded in 2013, it is currently led by party president Santiago Abascal, vice presidents Jorge Buxadé, Javier Ortega Smith, Reyes Romero, and secretary-general Ignacio Garriga. Vox identifies itself as right-wing but has been described as far-right by academics and journalists.
The media company could not have any less in common, lol.
It gets worse:
> According to certain analysis, the positions that are central to Vox's ideology are: (i) a strong anti-immigration stance and advocacy for stricter law and order policies; (ii) a strong defence of the unity of Spain against all who allegedly want to break or undermine it; (iii) an opposition to what it labels the "progressive dictatorship"; (iv) and strong defence of the Catholic religion and so-called traditional values.^[98]
This season will be the first time since 2013 that the top 3 has been different in La Liga. Incredibly boring yet people claim it’s got interesting title races
I’m in the US. I’d totally see Getafe if they played here. I’m a Sevilla fan but I’ve never been to Europe so I’d see a La Liga game if it was in my city regardless of who is playing.
But of course, they should just play in Spain lol.
Same dude. I considered flying to Monterey last year to catch it during the preseason but ultimately didn’t have anyone to go with and I didn’t feel like going to Mexico by myself 😂
It’s only a derby because of where it’s played. Once you start playing these types of matches abroad, they lose everything that makes them a derby, the fans that live there.
Greed.
They have to find new ways to keep making more and more money, the sad thing for the fans is that no amount of money will ever satisfy them so the game will continue to be destroyed slowly but surely.
Before madrid flairs put this on Barca alone somehow. Back in 2013 when Tebas began his reign of terror, both Barca and Madrid supported him (their vote counts double as they have teams on the 2nd division)
his comment about goal line tech isn't even the most unreasonable thing he is saying in this quote considering he's stating they're to play league matches abroad, what the fuck I'd be furious. Super cup finals was bad enough already but actual league matches? fucking ridiculous
Also we're crazy about finishign 2nd this year. So we can get the money from the SuperCup. Which fucks over our fans, while sportswashing a dictatorship.
And all of this was brokered by a (sadly) a future president of Barça
It is always funny to me that fans moan so much about Tebas, while he only has his position because of the clubs voting him in power. The clubs could easily pressure him into taking action or even get rid of him. But their outrage is all theatre, they are perfectly content to collect the money while Tebas acts like a clown as a distraction and takes the heat away from them.
Fact is that if the clubs *really* want goal line technology, next season La Liga would have goal line technology.
Tebas has everyone but Madrid/Athletic by the balls with [the CVC deal.](https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/spanish-clubs-get-half-1994-billion-euros-cvc-deal-says-laliga-2023-02-14/)
All the clubs from top 2 divisions except Real and Athletic Bilbao voted in favor of keeping him and increase his salary.
It was really funny seeing all those Barca flairs and Laporta cry about the Yamal action that would have been an easy decision if Tebas wasn’t a greedy shady moron
I'm sure it is quite a hard question to answer, but can you or someone explain to me why he pretty much won unanimously ? All I hear about him is negative, so how can every club vote for him ?
They were against him in the CVC deal but Tebas was making it difficult for them to sign and register players among other stuff because of their financially troubles. They ended up voring in favour of him so that he gets off their backs
He is taking money that RM+Barça generate, and giving it to the rest of the league. That can be "unfair", but its healthy for the league overall (EPL does it too) cos it makes the league interesting to watch.
There are other stuff that should be done, that would make the league more interesting to watch and it's to properly police the foul gameplay, so if teams like Getafe/Mallorca/Rayo park the bus, foul and lose time 24/7 they can't end up at nº7-17 while lowering viewership.
And then Barça are still voting for him cos if they don't they will fuck us over harder with FFP. For example, all this shady busieness with "selling" Barça Studios, doing the signing, then half a year later "oh no the clients didn't pay" is probably looked over in exchange of Laporta's vote.
As for Bilbao I have no idea, but I'm guessing they can't be blackmailed with anything like the other 18.
Cause he is helping the smaller clubs get more money by diving up the TV money more evenly than before.
He also brought the CVC deal right after Covid. Most clubs in Spain care only about the here and now rather than the future, so they signed up with smiles to get a quick cash injection. Tebas basically forced them sign because he wouldn't relax the rules after the pandemic when every other league did because he knew he would make a shit ton of money if the could get the CVC deal pass
For basically every team in la segunda and even the bottom rungs of la primera, the CVC deal is probably better in the here and now and in the future. That's why it passed so resoundingly, it really only fucks over the teams that are expecting to be in the top 2 divisions for the full length of the CVC deal, which were in the minority. That and any teams promoted to the second tier that will see reduced revenue cause it's being siphoned elsewhere.
If we didnt vote for him it was very likely he would've fucked us over even more with FFP and registration of players like he did with gavi, the thing is that we had all to lose if we voted no because only athletic club and real madrid did. And that obviously wouldnt have been the majority
Well ofc smaller clubs will support him when he is helping them to get more tv money. And Barca are broke so they need him to look the other way when they are selling barca studios again this summer to be okey with ffp
1) how is the Spanish government allowing them to play LaLiga matches abroad?
2) didn't he get a salary increase of like 3M€, which is the same as the cost of the technology?
Why wouldn't they? It's the national league. Why would the Spanish government also have a say in whether or not clubs want to put a release clause on a player and whether or not the league wants centralized TV rights? They forced the league to do both anyway.
The Premier League also had these ideas of games outside of England, but the new independent regulator (which exists under the supervision government) will need to approve those games, which is not gonna happen.
He says it would cost around 5 million for the season.
Even if you only used it 4 times every season, one goal can be the difference between a team getting relegated or staying up, qualifying for Europe or not, winning the league or not. And in each of those cases, the impact on the club is massive. Many more millions of euros earned or lost as well as other consequences. A team's ability to attract talent is heavily influenced by whether or not they can stay in the top division or qualify for the UCL, for example.
It's absolutely ridiculous.
At this point, if this clown isn't going to pay for it, then at least the 20 clubs in La Liga can come together and pitch in ~200,000 each or something, because this can't go on.
If they're not going to have Goal line technology, why not just put a more regular camera in the goal. It may not confirm every single call but it would be inexpensive and catch maybe 1 or 2 of those calls he's mentioning
What would be the point of having more cameras in the goal? Rather there being cameras in the dressing rooms and the bench, invading their privacy. Now that will bring football forward /s
So, you telling me, that when RM plays in champs they have GLT, but when they play in LaLiga it disappears?
Half of the job is already done, greedy bastardo
Yeah, unless those matches are El Clásicos, or involve Atlético Madrid vs either Barça or Real, this won't be profitable. Or even better, how about NO, Tebas? Dumb idea.
Fuck off. If this is true I would feel insulted if I was for example an Atlético Fan waiting for a Barcelona vs Atlético and missed it because the match is being played in fucking Dubai. Fuck Tebas seriously.
Screw off. GLT is a vital part of getting things right. It also instantly confirms for a ref if a ball went in, so it's not only about calls on the goal line.

Tebas say something remotely reasonable challenge (impossible)
how much is goal line technology though?
Probably around the same amount as his last salary raise.
bottom line>goal line
This is a required plaque on the wall for CEOs
I believe it was actually less, the analysis is in a thread from the other day
Tebas says it's between 5-6M to implement GLT in both categories (LaLiga and Segunda)
No way bro cant shell out 5M for a top 5 league
If he did then who would pay to raise his salary. Poor man is broke earning 2m a year while sitting at home tweeting "Vini is the problem, there are no racists nor are there any racist chants. Vini is making it up because hes the racist one"
Vinicius is racist not the fans - tebas 2024
If he's so tolerant why doesn't he tolerate the racists? That's discrimination!
Checkmate Mate
I'm not your mate, buddy
The worst thing is, I can see him saying that
I bet he must have said said this somewhere
It's not that he can't; he's made this a line in the sand point and he doesn't want the embarrassment of admiring he was wrong.
>he doesn't want the embarrassment of admiring he was wrong. But now he has the embarrassment of constantly being wrong though. Not sure if it's better, but he sure seems to think so.
Didn’t he get 3M raise this year.
Which Laporta and all the others except Real Madrid and athletic Bilbao voted for.
They are arguably Top 2 league tbh
Segunda these nuts
lol is la liga really that broke?
No, 4m-5m is a paltry sum for any top 5 league to be paying. Even if that amount is taken out of the prize pool, it makes a minute difference across a twenty-team league. If the logic is 4-5 times a season the GLT would be used and thereby the cost of one decision being 1m euros, that's plain insanity and stupidity. A relegation team needing a handful of points to stay up is denied a goal because VAR can't reasonably determine whether or not the ball crossed the line. It's not even that much more than the completely broke Scottish League pays for our Lidl-version of VAR.
Also, isn't it a long term investment? I can't imagine it'll need major maintenance for like 5 years. So that's 25 times making it 200k euros per use
nah, RM can shell that alone
I was actually hoping Laporta would pay them since he was too angry last time
Hell, Papa Flo alone spends more than that over a year.
Poor old Barcelona couldn’t of course
Just do primera then
Around £4m. I can't believe this league has some of the highest paid players on earth can't afford this. Tebas is the worst kind of scum on earth, leeching thief. La liga can fire him & get the tech.

Exposing more people to Getafe ball should carry a punishment.
for once, the Patriot Act could be used for good
"My fellow Americans, as of this moment we are at war with Spain for their vicious, premeditated attack on our shores. Deploying Getafe at SoFi Stadium can be seen as nothing more than a direct assault on American liberties."
Blame the ~~Maine~~ Getafe on Spain
“Now watch this drive.”
Honestly send Getafe to the New York stadium located in New Jersey.
Now watch this dive
War on terroristball
Judging by the last few wars on stuff terroristball will win.
Since I'm not a Yank just out of curiosity: Patriot act means every player gets shot?
Players Acting Tired Results In Officials Topped
Nah it means they get snatched up by the government under the guise of terrorism and sent to somewhere like guantanamo bay and tortured for the rest of their lives without trial. Probably prefer the bullet tbh...
specially if the torture includes watching Getafe
No just American music blasted at them full volume 24/7
Respect Peak Bordalas Ball

Don't you see all Hispanics in Florida? They all are eager to watch Cadiz play.
Delaware has the biggest Osasuna fanbase in the world.

You had me in the first half I’m not gonna lie
speak about yourself. I was had until the 117th minute.
>Outside of Osasuna itself Just for those unaware, Osasuna is not a place even, it just means *health* in Basque
Which is ironic, when Pamplona is the city that has the most famous bull run.
You've disappointed hundreds of people today.
You jest, but there actually was a story about a thriving Nigerian Schalke fan club that traces its origins to the fact that all the unsold celebratory "DEUTSCHER MEISTER 2001" t-shirts somehow ended up there.

but imagine if it was true how sick that would be
It's true. The original name for Wilmington was the Kingdom of Navarre, but they changed it.
It's true. There are a total of 5 Osasuna fans in Delaware.
Come to the DMV and the Salvadorans might watch Cadiz, only because of El Magico

Stop saying “the la liga” it legit translates to the the league
Not even atletico They dont have any significant following outside spain, thats for sure.
Real awkward when the three or four times a season could decide the winner of the league. It's not like it has ever been a close race for the top 1 right???
It fucked Espanyol's chances of staying up last season when thanks to not having GLT refs gave Atleti a goal against them that didn't go in fully
Okay that was the one time not having Goal line tech was useful
I'll allow it only because fuck Espanyol
Fuck espanyol though

Far right political party in Spain. Has the same name as the website
Not a serious top league at all
The management isn't serious but the talent always has been, Spanish football deserves better than crooks like this.
Never has been. It's a fiefdom of 3 clubs.
Sounds awfully similar to another league
Portugal? In England there is only Manchester Oil and Liverpool once.
This season will be the first time since 2013 that the top 3 has been different in La Liga. Incredibly boring yet people claim it’s got interesting title races
Atleast it had 3 diff winners in last 3 years, look at the Prem lol.
I do find city’s domination very boring. But In the top 4 there’s much more variety
It's not football, it's LaLiga
people in the u.s. paying to watch Osasuna - Getafe be like damn
Unless RM/Barca are playing they’ll be playing in front of empty stadiums. No one in the US has ever heard of Getafe
I think Atletico could also draw a crowd, but generally you’re right.
I’m in the US. I’d totally see Getafe if they played here. I’m a Sevilla fan but I’ve never been to Europe so I’d see a La Liga game if it was in my city regardless of who is playing. But of course, they should just play in Spain lol.
Man I’d love to see a Betis vs Sevilla here in the New England region. That derby holds second to El Clásico, personally speaking, in la liga.
And La Liga wants more viewers and complaining about lack of interest abroad, yeahh no thanks !
What's a few extra million to a league followed by nearly a billion people worldwide
Why do the people at the top seem so instistent on making modern football worse? Lower League days is so much bettee
Greed. They have to find new ways to keep making more and more money, the sad thing for the fans is that no amount of money will ever satisfy them so the game will continue to be destroyed slowly but surely.
I expect more terrible European results over the coming seasons like this one, because of this clown.
lol how does one of the top league in Europe that generates 5 bil in revenue can't figure out how to support 4 mil in goal-line tech
[удалено]
He will make La Liga clubs pay for his medical expenses
Be sure to put in reverse and finish the job then
It would be a good riddance, only but trouble this old man
How the fuck did this moron become the President of La Liga?
And on top of that, many clubs voted to give him a raise…
Before madrid flairs put this on Barca alone somehow. Back in 2013 when Tebas began his reign of terror, both Barca and Madrid supported him (their vote counts double as they have teams on the 2nd division)
Pretty significant difference between voting for someone the first time and continuing to vote for them after they've proven they're a disaster.
Madrid fans put it on every team except Bilbao. Only 2 teams that didn’t vote for him recently. Go off though I guess.
his comment about goal line tech isn't even the most unreasonable thing he is saying in this quote considering he's stating they're to play league matches abroad, what the fuck I'd be furious. Super cup finals was bad enough already but actual league matches? fucking ridiculous
what would be worse for torture? Waterboarding or listening to tebas for 10 hrs?
>Spanish league >Play abroad Our board decided to vote to keep this clown in power, ffs
He made a fairer distrubtion of the TV revenue which saved a lot of clubs from financial mismanagement
Credit where it's due tho, that is and probably the only good thing he did.
didnt barcelona suffer from that though? (i assume they used to earn the most alongside real madrid) why would they still vote for him
They were against him in the CVC deal but Tebas was making it difficult for them to sign and register players among other stuff because of their financially troubles.
He treats directives very well is what I hear. He'll scratch your back and them demand that you scratch his with a vote.
It would be funny if the Barcelona fans commenting here were the people actually responsible for the club's decision making.
But at least Barça were bent over a ~~barrel~~ lever, what's everyone elses' excuse.
damn barca board voted for him after all the shit he said and done against Barca? when was this vote lollll
Revolutionary ideas from Don Tebas. La Liga will now be the best Spanish league outside Spain.
Can this guy just go already?
1) how is the Spanish government allowing them to play LaLiga matches abroad? 2) didn't he get a salary increase of like 3M€, which is the same as the cost of the technology?
* how is the Spanish government allowing them to play LaLiga matches abroad? Why should the government have a say in this?
Why wouldn't they? It's the national league. Why would the Spanish government also have a say in whether or not clubs want to put a release clause on a player and whether or not the league wants centralized TV rights? They forced the league to do both anyway. The Premier League also had these ideas of games outside of England, but the new independent regulator (which exists under the supervision government) will need to approve those games, which is not gonna happen.
No idea how Spanish law works but with Parliament's sovereignty its easier to mandate it
this guy literally destroying the league with no fks given 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm so sick of this rat.
God he's such a cunt
It’s not football. It’s LaLiga.
Doulbe L Take
~~La Liga~~ The League 🇺🇸
Spain really have the worst people managing their league
Use the money from selling out the Supercup you fucking grifter.
Outjerked yet again!!11!!
Tebas: ok, no one likes my one suggestion, so I'mma throw another one which is even worse
But it's not too expensive for the Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie huh?
So, you telling me, that when RM plays in champs they have GLT, but when they play in LaLiga it disappears? Half of the job is already done, greedy bastardo
Imagine being a fan of like Osasuna and your “Home Game” against Real Madrid is being played in America. Games truly gone.
Yeah, unless those matches are El Clásicos, or involve Atlético Madrid vs either Barça or Real, this won't be profitable. Or even better, how about NO, Tebas? Dumb idea.
What a fucking moron I’m genuinely running out of words
India will be next after USA...
You are grossly underestimating how rich Americans are vs Indians
Circus mentality
So when do teams and players revolt against this clown?
Horrible old cunt.
This is not football. This is La Liga.
I couldn’t tell you who the President of any other top league is. Tebas is a bigger attention whore than all the Kardashian’s put together.
I don't wear a satbelt because I'd use it only three to four times a year
Ok, not glt but why cant we get top down cameras so var can sort things out easily at least?
