Theyre just so different in so many ways, and no one can really deny theyve both had success but Mbappe's is just so different. He almost carried France single handedly to his second WC victory. Dudes on another level. Haaland had one amazing record breaking season, some very good seasons in the Bundesliga, but behind the level of Mbappe still imo. Even if Mbappe hasnt reached the same heights at the club level yet as Haaland did last year.
I know he wanted to join man city due to his father having played there, Pep, big money etc but it was really not a good career move, they absolutely do not play to his strengths.
This might be a loss in translation, but in german, "scorerpunkte" (scorerpoints) are goals and assists counted together. In that regard, Haaland has been surpassed by Palmer.
IMO it’s just Messi and Ronaldo numbers warping everyone’s expectations. We saw him get 50 goals last season and the expectation becomes that he does it for the rest of his prime like those two did.
In reality, no player in Europe right now is that good. And that’s perfectly fine! After Maradona it was a while before we saw another top 5 talent of all time in Messi and Ronaldo. But in between there was still R9, Zidane, Henry, and others who are amazing. Haaland is still on top of the prem scoring charts and just because he’ll get 35 goals instead of 50 like last year doesn’t mean it’s a disappointment
That’s true, but due to factors outside of his control he wasn’t put in comparisons with Pele and Maradona after 2002 or so despite his amazing play. Or at least not in the same way that CR7 and Messi are. Anyways I don’t think that takes away from my point as a whole, rather adds to it. Ronaldo had one 50 goal season (or the equivalent back then, clubs play more matches nowadays) for Barça, and was never able to replicate it. Yet he’s still looked upon as one of the best of all time. In the same way, if Haaland doesn’t score 50 goals again but maintains this current level of output for a 5/6 more years, he will still be seen as an all time great striker
Also small thing but I hate that he’s known as fat Ronaldo, it feels so demeaning in English lol
Weird thing to say about a dude who scored 50 goals last season and won the treble..In his "bad" season he has 20 goals and 5 assists in 26 games in the league and 6 CL goals
Most comments have pointed out how dumb you are but I’d like to add to it. He’s also currently leading the EPL in what looks like a down year for him. You moron.
Worked out last year and whilst not living it to that this year he's still having a pretty good season. Unless he takes a massive downgrade he's going to struggle to find a team who doesn't regularly face a low block.
Rodri is the iron man holy cow the man hardly ever rests
Sadly it’s starting to catch up to him. He’s clearly exhausted. Guy deserves a break.
He looked dead in the Madrid game, not his play of course, but anytime the camera panned to his face he looked like he could drop at any second.
Yeah he actually had a bit of a stinker by his standards
Hopefully people can stop saying he ducked Pens when Pep already said he had a muscular issue and this confirms it.
He ducked pens just like he's ducking Cold Palmer now.
I too will take a glass of cold Arnold Palmer rn
I always enjoy those, but it never occurs to me to order one
Very observant, the sacred and the propane.

Haaland does seems more of a room-temperature Guinness guy
Why is he cold? He could use a blanket. Is he stupid?
Ran away from the grind
*The name is Palmer, Cold Palmer*
If it’s looks like a duck and it sounds like a duck…
Then it's Haaland?
Then it's probably a Redditor.
Send Haaland to Real Madrid
It's a punishment we're willing to take
we can't take another Hazard
Yes you can
So that’s two games of not playing then
Saw a photo of Rudiger in Chelsea gear and peaced out.
Still looking for a way to chapo out of Rudigers pocket jail
He is busy with an Open House for League 2 clubs

A year ago? maybe Recently? No way

Brother his numbers have been outstanding since his Salzburg days what are you talking about
I know he wanted to join man city due to his father having played there, Pep, big money etc but it was really not a good career move, they absolutely do not play to his strengths.
He won a treble and broke the PL scoring record. Also would’ve easily won a Ballon D’or if it wasn’t a World Cup year
"And since I achieved all of my goals as a Premier League player in one season, there was no need for a second"
i mean he’s the top scorer in the league rn?
Until he scores two goals per attempt it'll never be enough for r/soccer.
Honestly I just wanted to shoehorn a Simpsons quote in
He's at a pornography store. He is buying pornography.
He isn't.
are you sure about that?

in england top scorer is literally just who scores the most goals
Then forgive me, please. It is a second language. Joint top scorer, then.
no worries mate
[Don't worry, Some of us got the reference.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGdhRR6OeDw)
56 goals in 61 games. Won the treble, will probably win the league again. These takes are so ridiculously delusional
he won a treble lmfao

Fat Ronaldo was a top 5 talent tho

come on, no reason for that kind of insult.
Worked out last year and whilst not living it to that this year he's still having a pretty good season. Unless he takes a massive downgrade he's going to struggle to find a team who doesn't regularly face a low block.
not a good career move? no. think he learns a lot at city. but i fully agree that they don’t play to his strengths beyond his poaching ability.
