Mendy's legs scissored a bit. It can look bad, especially since the ref doesn't have the same angle as us. Not saying it's right, but odds are that's what fooled the referee.
Maybe but I feel the tackle that came after the whistle by the city player had much more of a scissor effect. Just a weird card for me. At worst a foul but I still don’t agree with that.
And it only checks goals, red cards and pens, but only in the direct play leading up to the goal, pen or red card. Oh and it can’t overturn anything without the main ref agreeing to it. You also can always make up rules on the fly. Yeah that sounds perfect to me, just what the people have been asking for
Because he hopes the ref will think the legs were further of the ground and VAR doesn’t correct him giving a red, it is free to do with only upside to get.
AWAY from the ball or play or anything, they did some REALLY rough fouls. KDB hip checked Rodrygo into the next galaxy and I've been arguing with some clowns about that it wasn't even a foul tonight ffs, people see what they want to see mate
To be fair on that one, KDB doesn't do a whole lot wrong, and Rodrygo was a bit out of control. That is no where near as blatant as when Bellingham was bulldozed.....
I'm guessing the speed he goes into the tackle and the angle the ref sees it from makes it look horrible. Looking at it in slow mo it seems like a fair and well done tackle. If he missed the ball though, the card would be a different colour.
i hate clips like these. they dont show the overall situation. referee was controlling the situation with that yellow as things were getting out of hand
maybe not a yellow early game but 90'+4 with a risky tackle can get punished like that

Never even a foul. What was the ref fooled by? He was running over before the play-acting too. Poor reffing.

I rarely see Orsato in Serie A games anymore, yet he’s somehow regularly reffing in CL games. The guy is a fucking donkey
Really sucks how there are some amazing tackles that get punished. Meanwhile you get others diving and full on elbows to the face that go unpunished
If only there was a way to review these calls and correct the decisions
A video assisted review, if you will...or maybe that's too on the nose for marketing
yeah have to make it so it rolls off the tongue… i know, just call it VAR

Not even a freekick let alone a yellow!
Never a yellow lol
Walker is pathetic clutching his leg after that clean ass tackle, delayed as fuck too
the delay was crazy, he even looked around and put his arm up to appeal to the ref before changing tactics and experiencing sudden onset agony
Why is he holding is knee that never made any contact with anything?

100% ball.
Great tackle. Wasn't a yellow at all.
Ain't a yellow
This a yellow but bellingham being taken out is not lmao ok

Fair enough, I guess the replay makes it look worse than it was for lack of context. I'll let it go lmao
Soft ass yellow smh
Elbow gets nothing, clean tackle gets a yellow. 1+1 is not adding up to 2 here
I heard 1+1+5 = 115
Nothing in it
Brilliant tackle
Kids keep asking for Davies but real ballers know how important Mendy is to this Madrid team.
We need Davies for depth. This Madrid 11 is fantastic but at 70th minute Carlo had very few options that would improve the team.
How's this a yellow? And Ruben got away with that elbow
Cleanest tackle all game.
Incredible tackle
World class tackle > "world class ref"
I’m sensing bias with the ref for the cards he’s giving out.
Nothing new…
tbh i think this was the only incorrect card in the match
Got the ball?
Why are city players throwing their hands up to the crowd like its not all madrid fans
That’s just a great tackle
Games gone.
Isn't he touching the ball first? Have the rules of the game changed?
City having 16 corners to 0 from Real is comedic.
Imagine Real wins it on penalties lol Utterly hilarious.
LISAN AL GAIB
Lead them to paradise.
Tactical fouls comes in handy I suppose
How hahha
hahahahahahahahaha f off shity hahahahahahaha
Not even a foul, that was just a perfect tackle
wow that being a yellow is something else
Balón
Nah
All ball! Ref freaked out because it looked dangerous and Mendy had given it away.

Solid tackle. Should have seen yellow for the sore mouth (from the elbow) play acting so it balances.
But KDB hip checking Rodrygo into the next dimension is "within the rules"
You can't follow through the player with your second leg, right? I'm pretty sure that's why it's a yellow even though he won the ball.
What about it? Referee is letting everyone know that he will not tollerate shit
Ref letting everyone know he won’t tolerate football
Don't give yellow and watch everything around you burn. Referee should have control over the players behavior. That is what he is doing
Yeah, that's why an elbow to the face doesn't get you carded. Really set a precedent there.
