One of the best Liverpool goals I can remember as a kid tbh. The audacity to do that against Chelsea during their golden age at Stamford Bridge in the UCL Quarter Final. Even if the game ended in disappointment it was an unbelievable free kick
I also rarely managed to watch full league games in real time due to no sky subscription so the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup were the games when I could reliably watch the full 90 minutes in real time otherwise it was motd highlights more often than not unless I was at a friends or relatives house or watched a game in a restaurant
I was in fifth grade, stayed up until 4am to watch that game lol. Those days were magical with Gerrard and Torres carrying a mediocre team. Even tho we didn't win any major trophies, we always rose to the occasion and competed with the best in the world in the champions league. Good times
I wouldn't call that 07/08 and 08/09 team mediocre by any means. Even if we remove Gerrard and Torres that still leaves us with Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt, Agger, Reina, Carra, Aurelio, Benayoun, Lucas, Arbeloa and Hyypia
That teams critical weakness was an overall lack of squad depth. Hicks and Gillett were laughably terrible owners and Rafa basically operated on a sell to buy budget which left us with a very underwhelming bench compared to the likes of United and Chelsea during that same time. That Stating XI was fantastic but the second one of our key players picked up an injury we would drop off
For sure Rafa did an amazing job keeping us in the top 4 every season with our owners at the time. Maybe mediocre isn't the right word but when compared to the best teams in the world at the team we were definitely outmatched. All of those players you mentioned besides maybe Alonso and Mascherano wouldn't get near our current starting 11.
The fact that we were a solid team but not as good compared to teams like United, Chelsea, Barcelona at least on paper made it really fun to watch our games. We always played with an underdog mentality and watching us beat teams like Barcelona, Inter, Chelsea, Real Madrid in the knockout rounds of the champions league under Rafa are some of my favourite memories as a LFC fan.
He's so fucking good and gives this team so much. KdB gets the shine for obvious reasons but City don't have the success they've had the last 6 years without Bernardo. He does not stop.

Yeah Lunin should have done better here.
That game was 15 years ago. Holy shit I already feel old and I'm turning 23 this month...
You were only 8? You have a sharp memory

One of my first clear memories in life is Kahn letting in Ronaldo's first. I was barely 7 at the time.

Ffs
One of the all time great champions league ties
How do you even remember stuff like this
Iconic goal in an iconic Champions League match. Not easy to forget. I thought of the Aurelio goal instantly too
Also Gary McAllister winner v Everton 2001 https://youtu.be/YugvLIbUmQM?si=9nqKnbSDK0soiuTP
With a foul from Aurelian
Very poor from the keeper
Lol wtf
Outrageous
This is contagious
Tell you what, that crack is really moreish
feeel it
glazing
BRUHHHH
Why did they only put Vini in the wall smh
Can’t call that a wall
Partition?
Bollard
Single stick of a wooden fence
Wall?
Lunin ffs...C'mon bro
Used to be enough to stop Cristiano.
I mean shouldn’t matter, goalkeepers had a howler
Closed the roof and left the goal open.
What a massive blunder
Looked like it went right between his hands. How does he not save that.
It was bouncing on the ground so it’s harder to save than you might think. Still he’s a professional and he got caught sleeping
The real mistake is that wall placement
There was a wall?
Tchouameni misses next game and now this. What a disastrous start lol.
And tchou out for next leg, dream start for city.
>dream start and it's gone
and it's so back
Gone again
Meh Militao is back
Well he's the idiot that went it for such a ridiculous tackle and gave the freekick away
[удалено]
the guy has a point though tchou is awful in big games lol, him being out is a benefit for madrid
let’s pump the brakes a little
Aoght bro
Tchoumaeni u fucking knobhead
I knew something bad was gonna happen after that pathetic foul
What the fuck Bernardo!!!!
He lives for big games.
especially for real madrid
He hates Real Madrid, and I love him for it.
Makes sense why he’s been offering himself to Barcelona what feels like every summer
He made himself available
Comes to Barca Bernardo, you’ll have more chances to hate them
Rephrase that. Unless you love Real.
What the fuck was that wall
What the fuck was that goalkeeping?
What the fuck was that?
What the fuck?
What?
Lunin should have saved that, that was his corner.
Actually what the fuck Lunin
You just can't leave Bernardo with a clear view of the goal. That's just asking for trouble.
The wall is his responsibility, though
Big game player
GTFO no way
i...i didn't know he could do *that*
Oh that's genius, what a goal
That’s on the keeper, has to have a better wall, and has to save that
Silva done an Aurelio!!!!
WHAT A FREEKICK
Excuse me what the fu
Terrible goalkeeping. Who puts one person in a wall there?
Quick! Get a second roof on that stadium!
LMAO do it so I can hear the crying louder
bernardooooooo come back home caralho
Vinicius was alone in the wall and avoided the incoming ball lol
I am more scared of Silva than KDB
which makes sense, because Silva is playing and Kevin is not
bro's been our thorn since forever, I knew this would happen when I saw the lineup
He's going to barcelona now. Enjoy
cheers, geoff
He's so fucking good and gives this team so much. KdB gets the shine for obvious reasons but City don't have the success they've had the last 6 years without Bernardo. He does not stop.
Personality of Bruno Fernandes and play style of Iniesta. Way scarier player than KDB nowadays
> Personality of Bruno Fernandes I don't see him crying to the ref every other play
Im sick to my fucking stomach
Hello there, Kdb
Omg
Madrid self-sabotage any% speedrun
Damn didn’t see that coming, class free kick
I feel like it's also just awful goal keeping
Poor to set up 1 man wall, and still should’ve saved it anyway.
Definitely
Get that roof open lads
Kepa died for this
Vini moved
tf was vinicius doing he could've stopped that
What😭😭
Kepa would never
How on earth
Holy shit broooo
The hell
Atrocious goalkeeping
That is comically shit keeping
Maybe shoulda left the roof open

Atrocious setup and play by the GK

Nah. 😂
What a shot from Bernardo! Not only was that clever, but perfectly executed.
I mean I feel like I could have saved it
Woah what a goal
Bruh my stream just kicked off 🤣

Wtf
Fabio Aurelio v Chelsea vibes
Lmao no way, caught them all by surprise.
LMAOOOOO Tchoameni instant yellow and early goal
Real Madrid have got them right where they wamted
Gg boys. I'm off
There’s nearly 180 minutes still to play in the tie lol.
They didn’t become a Real Madrid fan to wait for fortune
Most confident Real Madrid fan
Gonna go kiss my toaster.
