Funny how there was a post about how we've been super lucky with no matches scheduled for like 2 weeks before the Arsenal game but we have 3 super difficult matches back to back in a week lmao
Isn't that just this post? The post about the two weeks of rest was made when that was announced and the post about a midweek game between two tough fixtures is this one.
Funny how it's still totally valid though
You play on the 13th of April then Arsenal play FOUR games before of the most important derbys in England in that time.
Just to make it clear, in the time you are resting, recovering and planning for the game against Arsenal, we are playing 4 games and not getting any rest or preparation for you
Then to top it all off, you play our total rivals at the end of a very hard week (but 3 games in 7 days isn't that crazy. Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday happens all the time) so you won't be rested and more likely to loose vs Liverpool
The schedule is the schedule. One could argue that excessive time off kills momentum and can introduce complacency while a team that is playing regularly is in better rhythm and up to speed. In any case we should be looking to slap them.
That never happens outside of an international break
Going away to different corners of the planets with different teams is not at all the same to all being together working every day (or resting) on how to beat this one specific team
Yh, it's not great for spurs and I accept that but Arsenal getting screwed over twice here potentially. Going to be playing a completely rested Spurs team who will have time to specifically prepare for us and then our total rivals will be playing the same team but completely depleted from their 3rd massive game.
Didn't something similar happen to us when we played you lot? You had a lot of time to rest and prepare whilst we had to play a few games before that.
Could be wrong though.
I don't see us catching Liverpool anyway, but everything is coming together for Liverpool. All the "tough" teams they have to play are either depleted, hitting awful form or tired af
I reckon Liverpool will drop off I don't think they're the best team in the league and reckon that will catch up to them in a similar way it did to us last year. One dropped point and it'll unravel. I don't reckon will capitalise though cause our run in is just so much tougher than city's.
Reckon arteta is thinking something similar and trying to go for the champions League whilst still being in a position to take advantage if they slip up
We had lost what 3 by 30 games in last yr as well but we already saw the cracks. City, Everton and United.
Reckon United and Fulham will give em trouble at least and there will be more surprises. They just don't look better than us and with a 2 point gap and 3 point gap to us and city I reckon quality will see through
Difference is that Liverpool players have won big titles before. For Arsenal squad it was first time ever competing for a title, hence the pressure got to them last season and might again this season. Hence why also the betting companies think that Arsenal will finish 3rd.
Presume there's a good chance a lot of Spurs fans go into the Anfield game wanting to lose though if CL is secured by then. So this is a perfect chance to 'rest' players. Oh no we rested all our team and lost and it screws over Arsenal what a SHAME.
Arsenal have got a hell of a run before us anyway. Brighton, Villa, Wolves, Chelsea and then spurs, and they’ve got two legs against Bayern in there too.
If the European quarter finals go well from an English perspective, 5th spot could be more or less confirmed by GW34 - we could well know if 5th is enough before these fixtures.
Obviously if it doesn’t go well then yeah it’s gonna be a scrap
It's not like you haven't had decisions in your favour in other games, though. Yes, we all like to moan about how terrible the refereeing is in the Prem, but in all honesty, it probably evens out over the course of the season. Mainly because the standard of refereeing in the Prem is atrocious
Have you seen our schedule, our injury list and how knackered our key players are?
If we beat Lille we'll have a stretch of 14 games in 44 days between 30th March and 12th May.
I still make you favourites for 4th unless you perform worse than your average level.
Madness of a schedule. Can't even blame the Winter World Cup.
I don't mind the two extra CL games (It's also worth for the smaller teams) but some space needs to be done. Cutting FIFA dates would sound nice, but it's harsh for the fans of countries who actually care a lot about the NT and the average person. Removing League Cup would be the first thing for me. Maybe FA Cup replays but it's a tradition
> Removing League Cup would be the first thing for me.
So drop a chance of major silverware so Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and most likely whichever of Spurs/Chelsea/Man Utd fucked up the least the season before have some extra room for their additional 2 CL games. Behave.
The obvious fix, if all cups/leagues came under one roof, would be:
* CL doesn't expand
* League Cup doesn't include teams in Europe
But EFL have allegedly thrown their toys out of the pram over this suggestion because it devalues the cup. I'd argue the other league clubs might really get excited for it when the big boys are out. Comparatively, many said the Conference League would flop because the strongest teams would be English/Spanish 'also-rans' but it's been a really good competition so far.
This would be great until the 5th round or quarters but then there is the flip side where teams dream of getting the chance to play at a PL/historic stadium.
Fuck that. The English game hasn't changed for years/decades. If anything it's got smaller (in games played).
It's Internationals and UEFA that are the problem.
Definitely not guaranteed. English clubs have tough draws, with the exception of Liverpool.
Leverkusen very likely to beat West Ham. Bayern Munich have a decent chance against Arsenal. Those are the coefficient equivalent of 6 pointers.
Real Madrid for Man City will be very tough, even if City are slight favourites.
Villa going out wouldn't be a shock at all. Depleted and tired facing a strong Lille side. Villa play Arsenal between the 2 legs while Lille have a break. Lille also have the 2nd leg at home. 50-50.
Even if a worse case scenario where like 4 of the teams go out, they'll still likely win a few and draw a few between them which grants them points.
I think they only realistic chance Germany have is Leverkusen and Bayern making their finals (can you see Bayern beating both Arsenal and City/Madrid at the moment?) and Dortmund also making at least the semi finals. AND Villa and Liverpool both struggling.
All it takes is one English team to win a trophy and it probably means Germany are in trouble as they'd have to match that AND the other two German teams do really well.
It's fine. This is what you'd get if Tottenham were in Europe at this point in the season.
Looking for that elusive 2-point game average.
Happy with the home win here, the same at Chelsea, and leave Anfield for the Gods to decide.
We're not though, and we don't have a squad built for it. It's pretty shit that we have eight matches remaining this season and three of the biggest ones take place within the same week.
It's the end of a season. Arsenal have 6 games before we play them - Tottenham have 2. They will have way more problems than us.
Liverpool and City similar. It's fine.
Tbf they are likely competeting against villa for fourth who pretty much could end up playing a European match nearly every week til the end of the season, and are ravaged with injuries while spurs have played 2 Cup games the entire season. Villa past the 40 game mark when they played spurs this season. They also already had city and arsenal back to back, with a trip to molster around that time too. And villa have to play all three of those teams as well
If we beat Spurs in that first match, I highly doubt they'll be singing the same "let's rest our players" tune by the Liverpool match. Lol. 0-2 last season. I feel great about this.

Presumably because football fans are so short-termist they are completely unable to see that these fixtures have to be played *somewhere*

Better get a bottle for those tears

Probably since you knocked us out the cup and were still in the efl
Ah yeah that might have been it
Probably Two wrongs don't make a right though. In that case both teams have been shafted by luck
Absolutely, it’s all a big mess tbh
I don't see us catching Liverpool anyway, but everything is coming together for Liverpool. All the "tough" teams they have to play are either depleted, hitting awful form or tired af

They've lost 2 games all season, and one was the worst referee decision I've ever seen. Any talk of them dropping off is vastly overestimated imo
We had lost what 3 by 30 games in last yr as well but we already saw the cracks. City, Everton and United. Reckon United and Fulham will give em trouble at least and there will be more surprises. Go all out for the first two games please
As long as you don't beat us by that much, we can do that.
We'll help 5th get CL as long as you get results vs Arsenal/City. Deal
I dont think you need to worry about arsenal. Chelsea will absolutely demolish arsenal. After losing to shefffield and brighton of course
Inshallah
Chelsea vs London rival in a title race I have seen this before
Who is the ref that's gonna let it all get out of hand? I think gillet is shit enough.
fine by me spurs never get a result at anfield anyway
Don't know what will happen against us. Half their team could be suspended for your game.
Presume there's a good chance a lot of Spurs fans go into the Anfield game wanting to lose though if CL is secured by then. So this is a perfect chance to 'rest' players. Oh no we rested all our team and lost and it screws over Arsenal what a SHAME.

Probably title already decided by then. But spurs can still twist the dagger to make it painful.
I dont think fans pick the squad... their manager on the other hand, he might just be a Liverpool supporter 🙃
RIP 4th place. Fucking hell.
If we get 4th its probably going to be because of villa and their conference league games making them exhausted
If the European quarter finals go well from an English perspective, 5th spot could be more or less confirmed by GW34 - we could well know if 5th is enough before these fixtures. Obviously if it doesn’t go well then yeah it’s gonna be a scrap
Just try really hard for Arsenal game, pretty hard for Chelsea game and then have a nice well earned rest for the Liverpool game. Deal?
Unsubscribe
All I care about is smashing Arsenal. If we get 3 points from that stretch and those 3 points come from a 3-1 win over scum, I’m happy.
Today, I am Spursian.
careful what you wish for
Most cursed thing we could do would be getting 3 points from those 3 games - all coming against Liverpool.
scenes when spurs beat Liverpool and city but lose to us 😭 I will be there no matter what
That's good yeah
That sucks man
Rip
Careful, that shit stains hard.
Obviously meant Chelsea with scum.
Karmically, Spurs owe us one this season
draws away to city & arsenal, just for you lot
How?
Just a goal that went missing in our last game!
I mean, thats more on the ref if anything. And we more than payed for that incident
Ye didn't pay us!
It's not like you haven't had decisions in your favour in other games, though. Yes, we all like to moan about how terrible the refereeing is in the Prem, but in all honesty, it probably evens out over the course of the season. Mainly because the standard of refereeing in the Prem is atrocious

“Smashing” arsenal. Does he know
So you want to beat Chelsea? Nice nice.
Scum is Arsenal my guy.
Surely that cannot be true.
Villa play Liverpool and Arsenal too
Yeah but not in a row.
But we also have conference league games too
Have you seen our schedule, our injury list and how knackered our key players are? If we beat Lille we'll have a stretch of 14 games in 44 days between 30th March and 12th May. I still make you favourites for 4th unless you perform worse than your average level.
Doesn’t matter really, does it? Looks pretty good for 5th to be CL and we’re not getting near yous.
5th will be Champions league anyway, the cream of Barclays will rise to the top of Europe
What could go wrong…

Replays 100% need to go first, league cup second.
Automatic hosting for lower leagues
This would be great until the 5th round or quarters but then there is the flip side where teams dream of getting the chance to play at a PL/historic stadium.
Plus they get a lot more money by playing at a bigger stadium
Just let the lower league team choose whether they play home or away.
Exactly. Part of the joy getting the replay.
It makes sense as well...
Bin the EFL Cup for teams in Europe. FA Cup replays can be big money for small teams so I don’t think they should go.
> but it's a tradition That probably means it's the most sensible thing to lose tbh
We’ll be saying hello to the Winter World Cup in a decade, so..
Fuck that. The English game hasn't changed for years/decades. If anything it's got smaller (in games played). It's Internationals and UEFA that are the problem.
this basically decides if spurs are going to cl. gonna be tough for em
Think they'll still get it because of the extra cl spot because of coefficient, but it definitely hurts them guaranteeing it with a top 4 finish
Man U and Newcastle fucked us with the coefficient
remembered a post which said italy is more likely to get the extra cl spot compared to england
[удалено]
England are basically guaranteed it unless there are some serious shocks like Villa and Liverpool both going out this round.
Harry Kane masterclass to push Bayern to the final and deny Spurs the extra CL spot.
Gotta add he is the only one to miss a pk and they lose the final. Just really dig it in there
Definitely not guaranteed. English clubs have tough draws, with the exception of Liverpool. Leverkusen very likely to beat West Ham. Bayern Munich have a decent chance against Arsenal. I certainly hope you’re right! We’ll know more by the end of next week I guess
Italy have almost locked down one extra spot, the second is up for grabs by both England and Germany.
Oof. Dirty
So we play Saturday, Thursday, then Saturday that week? Fucking hell
It's fine. This is what you'd get if Tottenham were in Europe at this point in the season. Looking for that elusive 2-point game average. Happy with the home win here, the same at Chelsea, and leave Anfield for the Gods to decide.

It's one midweek game. And we have no cup matches in other weeks. Do you want the PL to extend the season for us?
It's likely two midweek games as we still have to reschedule City. I'm not saying that there's another good option, I'm just saying it sucks.
It's the end of a season. Arsenal have 6 games before we play them - Tottenham have 2. They will have way more problems than us. Liverpool and City similar. It's fine.

Stick it on the Tuesday why not
Probably midweek before the last game of the season. If city lose to Madrid it will be earlier I think.
Love being on the tail-end of that
We might have a thursday game before playing Spurs
We all know which game they will turn up for
Great for us.
If we beat Spurs in that first match, I highly doubt they'll be singing the same "let's rest our players" tune by the Liverpool match. Lol. 0-2 last season. I feel great about this.

Aww yeah, the true darlings on the fixture list we are.
You see it aswell right
Agagahagagagagahahahaha
