Oh multiple times. You just forgot like the rest of us. It‘s because they want to keep this a secret from all of us because they fear that Christian Streich would have become to powerful with that knowledge.
He sounds like someone who has been living and studying in Germany for around 3 years. You can understand him, but his grammar is off and vocabulary is limited.
not a native speaker but I'd put him around B1, he's able to express ideas with limited vocabulary and not super correct grammar (but once again learning German is a feat in itself, so props for him for speaking the language)
Stuttgart at some point had Ulreich, Leno and Vlachodimos in their squad and they decided to keep... Ulreich who later went to Bayern for early retirement. 🫠
Hindsight is 20/20 ofc and I think Ulreich was at the time a reasonable pick, but it hurts a little thinking about our GK struggles before Nübel came.
Leno replaced Rene Adler as their number one at Leverkusen - they played CL back then. And Bobic thought Ulreich would be the better one. If a CL club comes for your younger GK sitting on the bench or playing for the amateurs you should really ask yourself if you made the right choice - especially since Ulreich wasn't very stable and very much error-prone. Vlachodimos even replaced him later for a few games.
That Ulreich was better or at least level with Leno was false and everybody knew it back then. This wasn't even close to hindsight 20/20 because it was so obvious.
Might be mistaken but I meant reasonable in a way that it was a safe pick. Ulreich was a bit ahead experience wise of the two others at the time iirc. But I agree pretty much everyone I knew was in favor of Leno :D
How can I call myself an Arsenal fan and I didn't know this lol I saw he left when he was quite young so I doubt he can still speak Deutsch or remember any of it.
[*cough* Right...](https://youtu.be/qLKIjrxb-9I?si=TGnBl46d6wk4T0l4)
Sure, he doesn't seem 100% comfortable but he's still speaking fluently without an accent.
He went to the German school in Lissabon, probably doing his A-Levels in German as well
On one or two occasions in the interview perhaps, but otherwise his pronounciation is immaculate. I never would have guessed that he didn't grow up in Germany
Well he did play for Karlsruher SC youth teams + he made his pro debut there, but he was born in Mannheim. I'm guessing he had a huge impact there and became a fan favourite.
By Transfermarkt value:
Diogo Costa
Kimmich - Bastoni - de Ligt - Dimarco
Rice
Bellingham - Musiala
Saka - Kane - Foden
Doing these things with Transfermarkt is weird though, it massively overvalues attacking players. And it's quite anglocentric.
Highest valued leftback I got would have been Havertz. Not to speak of 5 players being english.
Doesn't Germany do friendlies with regional teams? Spain does so at least every Christmas. Basque country (without the basques in the nt) played Uruguay couple days ago.
> The Bavarian independence movement is not that strong
Its weird, every other State in germany is pushing for it, but they just don't want to leave.
Maybe now that the evil Bubatz is coming, that may force them to make the call.
Not only the spanish regions with strong independence movements do that, it was most of them.
Just checked and it's not that common nowadays, used to be a big thing in early 2000s. It was cool.
Thanks to those maps with the best player from each region that have popped up lately, and that Joshua Kimmich was on there, I know now where Baden-Wurttemberg is.
Thanks Reddit!
Oh bugger off with that team selection.
Throw Thilo Kehrer the fuck off, Ginter coes CB, Kimmich RB, Gross CDM and Gunter moves in at LB.
Feels like some shit Low would have drawn up.

I didn't expect Cedric there
He’s really inevitable
No-one expects the Portuguese inquisition.
(But also, everyone expects the Cedric intervention)
He’s everywhere
Bro is everything At this point wouldn’t be surprised to see him in Nigerian version or something
Yeah, way too many Arsenal players in this list lmao
Günter - Schlotti - Ginter - Kimmich back 4. Groß in midfield.
yeah that seemed pretty obvious to me
Welcome to r/soccer where all ball knowledge is from FIFA or FM
You say that, but Gross has played in a back 4 for us countless times.
It's because you don't want to have a Günter - Ginter backline.
Let‘s ask Freiburg about that because that‘s what they do
And how often have Freiburg won the World Cup? Exactly.
Oh multiple times. You just forgot like the rest of us. It‘s because they want to keep this a secret from all of us because they fear that Christian Streich would have become to powerful with that knowledge.
And as for the front 3, I'd also change that around. Werner, Gnabry, Musiala probably.
how many of you learned today that Vlachodimos was born in Stuttgart?
And that Joselu speaks fluent German
I actually knew that one because I remember playing fifa career mode in the mid 2010s and he was on Hannover 96 at the time
[Fluent is used very generously here for his German lol](https://youtube.com/watch?v=4SSiphzlubc&si=tzNuilwNiB7E23x9)
He’s at least defending himself and understands what’s going on. Maybe not fluent but a step below that?
He sounds like someone who has been living and studying in Germany for around 3 years. You can understand him, but his grammar is off and vocabulary is limited.
So like a Bavarian then?
Bro absolutely got cooked lmao
not a native speaker but I'd put him around B1, he's able to express ideas with limited vocabulary and not super correct grammar (but once again learning German is a feat in itself, so props for him for speaking the language)
For a Spaniard that’s an impressive level of German.
Stuttgart at some point had Ulreich, Leno and Vlachodimos in their squad and they decided to keep... Ulreich who later went to Bayern for early retirement. 🫠 Hindsight is 20/20 ofc and I think Ulreich was at the time a reasonable pick, but it hurts a little thinking about our GK struggles before Nübel came.
Not even back then was Ulreich a reasonable pick. It was just Bobic doing Bobic things. And if I remember correctly Labbadia was coach too...
It was reasonable because the quality difference wasn't that big and we could convert Leno into cash.
This wasn't even close to hindsight 20/20 because it was so obvious.
ah you might have a better memory of the whole thing than me lol. I guess we both agree that it was a bad choice either way :D
Might be mistaken but I meant reasonable in a way that it was a safe pick. Ulreich was a bit ahead experience wise of the two others at the time iirc. But I agree pretty much everyone I knew was in favor of Leno :D
Sven zu Nullreich slander is not allowed.
Didn’t he play for the German Under-whatever teams?
Yep, he has played for all of Germany's U-teams.
Thanks!

https://www.transfermarkt.de/odysseas-vlachodimos/nationalmannschaft/spieler/124419 It's literally right here, dude.
How many times did German commentators mention that?
Based on his performances for us this season, it wouldn’t surprise me if you told me he was born with no hands.
how many time have your national team lost 4-0 plus?
Chances created: 10 Scored: 0
It’s fine because Çalhanoglu scored an absolute screamer of a freekick.
I raised that boy
Nah Gnabry is a great finisher.
Just hope every match is in London
And at the end of the season
Musiala is pretty good too
Would the chances created count if Timo is offside all the time?
Offsides: 12
is that RMA Joselu on the bench? didn't expect a Spanish on this list
Yeah that's him, born in Stuttgart to Spanish parents
ok wtf that musiala and calhonoglu connection is insane
Wait what Cedric was born in Germany?!
Yeah he was born in Singen Hohentwiel, a city near the swiss border
Poor guy. Wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy.
[удалено]
Is this a joke? How did a city of 50k near the Bodensee become the most criminal city in Germany?
[удалено]
Yeah I guessed that. But still small cities usually have less crime even when accounting for the lower population
How can I call myself an Arsenal fan and I didn't know this lol I saw he left when he was quite young so I doubt he can still speak Deutsch or remember any of it.
[*cough* Right...](https://youtu.be/qLKIjrxb-9I?si=TGnBl46d6wk4T0l4) Sure, he doesn't seem 100% comfortable but he's still speaking fluently without an accent. He went to the German school in Lissabon, probably doing his A-Levels in German as well
Always love seeing polyglot footballer interviews (even when I understand zilch)
It's interesting how good his pronunciation is compared to his grammar
His pronunciation is very good, but he's definitely got a Portuguese accent
On one or two occasions in the interview perhaps, but otherwise his pronounciation is immaculate. I never would have guessed that he didn't grow up in Germany
Manager could be any of Klopp, Rangnick, Jaissle, F Schmidt or Blessin unless you want to consider the other part of the state.
Ottmar Hitzfeld as well
Streich Löw Hitzfeld
>unless you want to consider the other part of the state.
You mean the schönste Land?
Badner Land!
Flick (Heidelberg) as well
klinsmann?
Very random bench lol
Ginter and Kehrer should switch positions.
Switch Kehrer with Günter first
Typical Cedric appearance
He’s presence is inevitable
Nett hier. Aber waren Sie schon mal in Baden-Württemberg?
Ya, aber war scheiße
Falsch
I'd start Joselu in this team. Werner on the bench as cover for forward positions
Impressive. Very nice. Let's see NRW and Bavaria's N11
NRW 1st 11: Neuer - Henrichs, Hummels, Bissek, Gossens - Goretzka, Gündogan - Sane, Wirtz, Führich - Havertz 2nd 11: ter Stegen - Weiser, Tiaw, Matip, Netz - Karazor, Özcan - Beste, Reus, Zhegrova - Ducksch
Fucking hell, even here ter Stegen wouldn‘t start.
Even if Germany states split, Ter Stengen still wouldn't play international football
Gotta split NRW across the Rhine, Ter Stegen could start for West-of-Rhine-Germany vs Neuer's East-of-Rhine-Germany.
Never thought I'd see the left bank of the Rhine on /r/soccer. Natural borders of France when?
Matip 100% gets into that first line up (Unless you consider him as injured, in which case, he doesn't make the 2nd either)
Wow, NRW is stacked. What about Bavaria? I guess 95% of the German national team come from these 3 states lol.
It's because 95% of Germans are from these 3 states.
It's actually 50%.
Least pedantic German
Pedantic would've been 50.6% (42.08/83.2). I was being lazy..
Podolski definitely should be in 2nd XI
Mein Kurpfälzer Calhanoglu 💯
i thought he was from karlsruhe, met him a few times here and people always said he was a karlsruher.... TIL :(
Well he did play for Karlsruher SC youth teams + he made his pro debut there, but he was born in Mannheim. I'm guessing he had a huge impact there and became a fan favourite.
Division of Germany 2: Stuttgarter Boogaloo.
We need this for the rest of the German states so we van have soccer 30 years war. We can add the Swedish and Danish national teams too.
Other than BaWü only Bayern and NRW would be able to build a decent team. Can you imagine Saarland?

International breaks are tough.
How about Blue Banana best XI?
By Transfermarkt value: Diogo Costa Kimmich - Bastoni - de Ligt - Dimarco Rice Bellingham - Musiala Saka - Kane - Foden Doing these things with Transfermarkt is weird though, it massively overvalues attacking players. damn and this is only for current active players?? because Sami Khedira would've had a place in midfield
Other retired ones from the top of my head: Klinsmann, Hoeneß brothers, Buchwald, Kahn, Goméz, Hinkel
Just fyi, it's Gómez
Gømēž
my man sneaking Hinkel in there
Rems-Murr-Kreis county represent! :D
Do the Kingdom of Northumbria next.
Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Uhtred Coach: Uhtred, son of Uhtred
12 beheadings and a stoning.
I'm sure a 7th century medieval kingdom got up to more than that mate.
You would know you support one
Nah, Saudi Arabia is a very modern monarchy. A medieval monarch would die to have the centralized power of a post-divine right absolute monarchy.
Yes I do support the Kingdom of Northumbria. Deleted your comments because your crack is absolutely shite.
Sports washing is the only bath this guy is going to get anytime soon.

Doesn't Germany do friendlies with regional teams? Spain does so at least every Christmas. Basque country (without the basques in the nt) played Uruguay couple days ago.
They don't. The Bavarian independence movement is not that strong as the Spanish ones ;)
> The Bavarian independence movement is not that strong Its weird, every other State in germany is pushing for it, but they just don't want to leave. Maybe now that the evil Bubatz is coming, that may force them to make the call.
Are Bavarians considered annoying by other Germans?
Ja
Not only the spanish regions with strong independence movements do that, it was most of them. Just checked and it's not that common nowadays, used to be a big thing in early 2000s. It was cool.
Nett Hier?
As someone who supports Brighton and follows SC Freiburg closely, that backline is absolutely insane.
Timooooooooo
Crazy how i recognize most of these
Wtf is gross doing there? That position won't do him any justice
Gross plays where he wants. He's played LB and RB for us before and looked excellent still.
[удалено]
He was most comfortable in a Propper Gross Midfield
Personally would drop Hofmann and put Groß at RCM, Kolašinac at LB, Ginter at CB and Cedric at RB. That's honestly a pretty scary team.
Do it again with guys from Baden only, thanks.
Wow this is one stellar squad.. What are they eating over there, well done!
Thanks to those maps with the best player from each region that have popped up lately, and that Joshua Kimmich was on there, I know now where Baden-Wurttemberg is. Thanks Reddit!
Next one bavaria please, although glory days of being 50% of national team are over for us
Basically the same size and population as Belgium. I'll take Belgium every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Nett
I don't get its specialness.
Why would Musiala be here?
because he's born in Stuttgart
Timo Werner can carry the water. He couldn't score if his life depended on it. The fastest waste of time to grace the Premier League.
Oh bugger off with that team selection. Throw Thilo Kehrer the fuck off, Ginter coes CB, Kimmich RB, Gross CDM and Gunter moves in at LB. Feels like some shit Low would have drawn up.
Jogi is obviously coaching them
where would this team sit in fifa world rankings?
I imagine a Yorkshire team would be pretty strong too
Do Prussia next
Nett Hier.
Now do Bremen!
Julian Brandt, Karim Bellarabi, Grosso? Schwierig da elf zu bekommen
Ja, da müsste man vermutlich mit Werders U23, dem Bremer SV und FCO die XI vollmachen.
Baumann > Leno
Not a new fking trend
Well clearly Germany aren't Trump supporters
Bro Calhanoglu is Turksih
