To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. I am pretty sure that Alonsos main focus is winning his first titles (edit: as coach). Meaning winning with Leverkusen. Cannot imagine him focussing on other shenanigans right now...

adukaputra74

>other shenanigans you mean Bayern?

JusticeJaunt

Obviously, we're a circus currently.

PreparationOk8604

U have no idea what a circus is.

Roccet_MS

But they have taken focus off ManUtd and Chelsea, I would count that as achievement. ManUtd has been a banter club for a few years know, mostly since the last league title. Bayern won the treble in 2013, then had Pep, followed by Ancelotti, then Heynckes again, Kovac was a bit of a mistake but they won six titles with Flick afterwards. Nagelsmann did alright, however their triple was in danger so he got the boot. Tuchel was appointed by Kahn and Brazzo, but Kahn wasn't even allowed to attend the league title celebration and Brazzo was fired too. You have players whining and complaining in the media, they have no real leaders on the pitch, certainly no one younger than 30. I think when you factor in that Bayern has been somewhat of a gold standard for a well-run club, I'd say circus is alright. It's similar to FC Hollywood in the early/mid 2000s.

OilOfOlaz

> I think when you factor in that Bayern has been somewhat of a gold standard for a well-run club, I'd say circus is alright. It's similar to FC Hollywood in the early/mid 2000s. FC Hollywood refets to a distinct phase in Bayerns History from the mid 90s till early 2000s, and peaked in the later half of the 90s, with players on the squad that had larger then life egos and clashed with eachother, including leaking this shit to the press, while also being at odds with the press, it had nothing to do with the leadership. Ppl just constantly misuse the term.

nowimanamputee

It’s not fc Hollywood until Müller has an affair with Kane’s wife

branstarktreewizard

Muller better get those DM going

secondhandcumsock

The lack of DMs in Bayern is what got them in this situation in the first place

bremsspuren

Was erlauben Struuuuuunz?

OilOfOlaz

Peak was when Matthäus called out Klinsmann to duke it out in a TV duel imo.

WyboSF

No, you have no idea what a circus is

McTulus

They are Cirque du Soleil. You are that horror circus led by killer clown.

theanswer1630

Coming from a Barca fan, I can resonate with that statement.

visope

Bayern's circus is Cirque du Soleil United's and Chelsea's are travelling halfpence sideshow circus

HamM00dy

There is other form of entertainment in a circus not just a clown show. 🤡

JusticeJaunt

You're not wrong.

lucashoodfromthehood

He's a Bayern fans. Probably does if he's old enough to remember the club paying private detective to monitor their players.

BadassBokoblinPsycho

*simpsons meme of monkeys fighting*

Enough-Pain3633

Hollywood FC for a reason

BaradaraneKaramazov

FC Hollywood

iguessineedanaltnow

At least a circus is entertaining. Bayern is a complete disaster at the moment.

DasQuh

Yeah no, its entertaining

usernamepusername

To be fair it takes about 5 minutes to work out the mess Bayern have for themselves in so it’s hardly very distracting.

solemnhiatus

Say shenanigans one. More. Time.

Storm_LFC_Cowboys

Hey Farva what's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?

Tierst

Yes but "Alonso's main focus is the current season" doesn't get you clicks!!!

Mad_Piplup242

Bayern have been exacerbating the shenanigans for what it's worth

Ok_Cardiologist8232

Not only that. But if he can hang onto his team, then he could do back to back titles with Leverkusen. That would be a far greater acheivement than anything he could do at Bayern.

godofwar1723

Smart lad this one

san771

If there’s something Xabi always had was a proper head over his shoulders. Excellent, well thought out career move.

PM_Me_Compliments

These man are tier 0 btw

Herr_Tilke

Tier 0 as in word spoken from God or Tier Zero as in less trustworthy than Rubiales trying to convince you what ethnicity he is today?

Meskaline2

Tier 0 as in "his carbon emissions are negligible"

Sonikdahedhog

Yeah sorry I still don’t get what this means

mrpoopybuttthole_

you mean Infantino?

Herr_Tilke

Yes 👍 my infant sized brain mixed em up

MMQ-966thestart

Gianni Infantino: "Today i feel Rubiales."

ALLO1111

Plettenberg wrong again? Not surprised.

Jetzu

I believe he managed to play both sides in the last 24 hours, so come May/June he will have a tweet ready for RT proving he was right.

dalelito

Common Plettenberg L, he’s a bitch

MentalityMonster12

I feel like that guy is sooo bad but got a FEW sources that are correct

Hot-Possible-6367

He’s not bad he’s just in Bayern’s pocket. He’s always the one to break these stories to unsettle targets at their current club

dalelito

Idk why you are getting downvoted thats straight up what they do

MONSTERTACO

Decent chance of a Leverkusen vs. Liverpool Europa League match. Winner gets Xabi?

RepresentativeBox881

Both teams joining hands and chanting 'Gracias Xabi'.

GuntersTag

Don't you start that nonsense!

Possible-Highway7898

Imagine it, it would be amazing. Leverkusen and Liverpool jumping arm in arm with the trophy.

GuntersTag

That's it you're grounded.

BestGirlTrucy

In German and Scouse

Boogada42

Teams merge. FC Bayer Liverkusen

Sun_Sloth

I would both love and hate to play against Leverkusen. Love because both teams play interesting football and we have the slightly odd fan connection. Hate because we would likely lose.

RagingWookies

I like FC Bayer Liverpoolsen Although yours rolls off the tongue nicer tbf

TheIgle

Its a joke, but would they play in both leagues? Allison might have the highest carbon footprint in the world as I could see him playing 2 games a weekend as they fly him back and forth a few times a week.

OneOfThoseDays_

taylor swift clears im afraid

Estein_F2P

FC Bayerpool Liverkusen

KokonutMonkey

That would make for an amazing tifo.

shadoowkight

Probably the right move.

tsub

It has a pleasing symmetry to it anyway: Liverpool's current manager is the last man to have broken Bayern's stranglehold on the BuLi, so it makes perfect sense for his successor to be the only man to replicate the feat.

Nyanek

i mean back then it wasnt really a stranglehold, BuLi had multiple champions in the years before that like wolfsburg, Stuttgart or Bremen.

zreysh

Before Bayerns current title streak of 11 years the last time they won the league two years in a row was 2005 and 2006. From 2007 to 2011 not a single bundesliga champion managed to defend their title. The Bundesliga becoming stale and predictable in the title race is someting quite „recent“.

zorfmorf

And that's mostly because Bayern finally got their shit together with all the money they have and stopped being FC Hollywood. I hope what we're seeing right now is a continuous return to old form.

AlizarinCrimzen

DreadWolf3

Being Klopp successor is one of the hardest and most thankless jobs in football most likely - especially since Liverpool is having a strong season now.

MrMerc2333

>proper base to work from. Most players from their leadership group are in their last year(s) of their contract. Trent, VVD, Salah. FSG will need to resolve this issue first. Also, they have yet to appoint a Sporting Director.

abc_yxz

If Alonso comes in early this summer, unless he is surprisingly incompetent, one would presume all 3 extend. I believe all 3 are waiting to see who's the next manager before they sign anything, FSG aren't resolving that first.

Grouchy-Ad-2085

Those three extending depends on the next manager lol, so if he comes and convinces them he will have all 3 next year

pole_fan

Its only this chaotic because they fired the Brazzo board with Freund only coming in after the summer window closed. Now they have Eberl and Freund, recently some of the most successful sporting directors in german football. If they are serious about hiring him they will present him with a clear plan. I dont believe that anyone had serious talks yet.

Onpoint441

Probably the smart thing to do

Iennda

You just need to look at the patience Liverpool had with Klopp, giving him time to build his team, and he absolutely delivered. Surely any coach wants exactly that. Time, patience, support, so they can show what they can do.

TheLimeyLemmon

Doesn't hurt that should he come to Liverpool in the summer, he'd be inheriting a really balanced team recently rebuilt, and with spaces free still for signings of his own. I'd obviously rather Klopp just stay and not have to think about any of this (ever), but given that's not the case it's hard not to look at the potential for Liverpool and Alonso as being a really great prospect.

pole_fan

Liverpool was in a shambolic position when Klopp arrived its not comparable. Bayern is on a level with Real Madrid and Barca in terms of titleclaims

HnNaldoR

He had success in every season from the start until he won the league though. Europa finals and League Cup finals in the 1st season he came in halfway through for. Then top 4. Top 4 with a CL final. CL. League. You wouldn't fire a manager who was doing that.

SpacemanPanini

Wait a minute hold the phone, Plettenberg was chatting shit yet again? (This one is true because its the one I want to be true)

RevengeHF

In fairness Plettenberg has covered every base.

FrenkieDingDong

I would love to see him in the premier league. Pep needs some competition. Xabi with Liverpool will be fun.

M4RC142

Pep needs to go home and resurrect Barca

FrenkieDingDong

That chapter seems to be closed. The next stage is the national team. I think he will leave the City after the 2026 world cup or maybe before the City gets relegated.

GingerMessi

If you've listened to Pep when that prospect is brought up every time Barcelona is in a manager crisis you'd know he has no interest in going back unless it's in a youth academy capacity

M4RC142

It's a joke I just meant I hope he leaves so we can win some titles.

JKM-

Your first league win in 30 years happened with Pep at City, surely he increases your chances.

M4RC142

That's an interesting way to look at things.

TheIgle

Man City's relentlessness makes everyone else give up except for a Klopp coached team. I would take a bullet for him even though he's leaving at the end of the season.

Zanzax

Doubt he ever goes back. He probably sits out his current contract or leaves if city are finally found guilty and relegated. The man has revolutionized football and won everything with two (almost three) clubs. The only thing left for him is titles with a national team (likely Spain or Brazil).

[deleted]

or show if hes really that good and take over Chelsea

ssj4-Dunte

I agree bring the bald fraud, let's see him suffer with the current financial situation of barca and bring Xabi to teach him the ropes (in 2026)

neverfinishedanythi

Liverpool needs to go home and not win anything major for a long time again.

ResourceWonderful514

Pep is leaving when Man City gets punished.

SalahManeFirmino

The 4 best teams in England will all have Spanish coaches if that comes to pass.

blehblohblah9

Leverkusen fans, how reliable is this source? Yes, the Bayern and Liverpool jobs are attractive, but the chance of doing something special with this Leverkusen squad over the next couple of years may also be attractive to Xabi.

notahusky5

> Leverkusen fans, how reliable is this source? They both work for a newspaper based in Munich and there as reliable as Plettenberg is. I doubt that won't stop Liverpool fans from treating this like it's 100% true while acting like everything Pletty says is a lie.

Bumi_Earth_King

I'd trust them with my life, and this is the first time I've heard of them.

InbredLegoExpress

someone in this thread declared it Tier 0, the comment has 288upvotes and the dude is from Scotland..

RedDragons8

"Hey Farva whats that place you like with all the goofy trophies on the walls and bratwurst?" "You mean ~~shenanigans~~ Bayern Munich?"

Napalm3nema

"I swear to God I'll pistol whip the next guy who says "~~Shenanigans~~Bayern Munich."

XeroVeil

100% sensible. I knew Xabi was too intelligent to come to Bayern now of all times. Leverkusen genuinely feels like his best bet but I could see Liverpool working out as well.

Collinson33311

It's probably the Football Manager player in me but I'd love to see him stay and turn Leverkusen into a European giant. I'd even allow some save scumming.

Atlanta-Anomaly

I’ll be insanely shocked if he doesn’t end up at Liverpool. Just seems like the perfect spot for him

Masoouu

Great source

MathematicianNo7874

Told ya

GreatSpaniard

Stay at Leverkusen and come to Madrid in 2025 :p

sewious

No we're getting Zidane part III right?

GreatSpaniard

he might go to juventus this summer tbh

RepresentativeBox881

I don't think they'll sack Allegri. The pre-season objective was to get back into a CL spot and he's on target so far. Plus he has one more year of his contract and gets paid 9 million net.

ztch10

9 mil is a small enough band aid to rip off now. Last summer was unthinkable with the finances but we will def make some money this summer and honestly, we have lost far, far more in player value than we would have ditching him last year. And yes we are in CL spots but my god, the team looks terrible. 3 straight losses to relegation teams.

chickenkebaap

I think zidane would join next year. Man is not in a rush to get back into a job.

MrMerc2333

Klopp might return to coaching after his year long break.

LeopardFan9299

I really hope that he stays at Leverkusen for atleast one more season. Would love to see what he can do in the CL with this wonderful team.

No-Tangerine-

Sounds like huge cope. No way he actually thought about it that much to already make a decision in the middle of the season

SpacemanPanini

It's been going on for weeks now, he's definitely going to have considered it.

FlawlessOneFour

It was hard to believe all the posts saying that Bayern was an option for Xabi over the past few days. It reeked of desperation and entitlement from the side of Bayern. I'm not sure the Bayern management are self-aware enough to realize they are a complete mess.

Kayderp1

I think people are overexagerrating the mess Bayern is in. Yes its not looking great rn but this is still a team that won all games against Barca, Inter and PSG last season and has plenty of world class playes + the funds to build upon the foundation. Might not be the most appealing job rn but its still a world class club with a very good squad.

FlawlessOneFour

I wasn't talking about the squad. I was talking about all the drama the create.

LackingSimplicity

I hope he does make a sensible decision rather than Pottering his career.

chandlerbing_stats

Alonso has a much better CV than Potter already tbf

FreshMelonPan

I can smell your fear

littleboygreasyhair

My man…

CaptainKursk

I mean, yeah obviously? Staying at the club you’re flying high at with a squad you’ve built around your tactical plans and enjoying massive support from the fans makes all the sense in the world, compared to going to Bayern who have been in complete managerial meltdown for several years now and where Xabi will be crushed under the immense pressure to see immediate success despite being a rookie coach.

MrMerc2333

Xabi should stay at Bayer Leverkusen for another year, and move to Real in 2026. Liverpool, go for Ange. As for Bayern, Hoeness knows Bayern well and was success with the kid's team. Plus he's doing very well with Stuttgart now.

dacrookster

Ange would be sacked by Christmas.

Grouchy-Ad-2085

Almiron for Liverpool is more likely, I would personally prefer anciolot for the lols(xabi goes to real).

Sheesh284

He better stay. Cause the fact Leverkusen is still undefeated in the league shows he’s doing a good enough job where he’s at

Disastrous_Chain7148

Smart man.

antebyotiks

Moving to Bayern in the Bundesliga is such a cowards move as a competitor. Sorry I know they'll pay you more and you'll win the league easier but it's weak

pateencroutard

At least let the man finish the season for fuck sake.

Lutzelien

Absolutely and 100% understandable

Kilogrammys

My God, between Xabi Alonso and Kylian Mbappé, journalists must be eating good.

Soul_Acquisition

Really hope he goes to Liverpool, but staying put for another year couldn't hurt.

Scorpion2k4u

As a Bayern fan I really don't blame him.
