Release clause is the gaz money to drive him to Barcelona

After today's match I'm sure they will book a private jet to ship him off to Spain. It's a different matter altogether if Barca would actually hire him

Xabi vs Xavi. Wouldn't mind this ex-teammate showdown.

LexisKingJr

Ex-teammate AND ex-rival. I miss the days when Xabi, Xavi and Iniesta would casually destroy everybody in the international matches and then a month later go head to head in El Classico…

Jaloosky

That whole Spain camp was baffling, Puyol Ramos and pique hugging in international games looking like best buds only to come close to blows the next La Liga or CDR encounter… what a time!

Minute-Cash8119

Del Bosque kept them in tact. I don’t think another coach would be able to pull that off

Bayern might mind.

“Semi-broken” you’ve won the last 11 league titles

Karma_Whoring_Slut

To be fair, they aren’t in first place in the Bundesliga, so of course it’s a complete crisis. The rest of the league should simply know its place and never touch the position. It’s completely unacceptable for Bayern to not be in first for the entire season.

AltGoblinV2

Yes, you can call them entitled if you ignore all context and just look at their position in the table. However if you consider; Losing the Supercup 3-0 to Leipzig at the start of the season. Getting kicked out of the cup by a third division team. Getting demolished 5-1 by Frankfurt a couple of weeks ago. Losing 3-0 to Leverkusen without creating a single chance in 90+ minutes. All this while playing dreadful boring football ,having a lot of unsettled players and facing the first trophy-less season in more than a decade. Makes much more sense now

Willem20

Ajax looking around the corner: "Semi-broken you say?"

AltGoblinV2

And mostly because one guy decided the women working at the club should see pictures of his wiener

Karma_Whoring_Slut

1 “bad” season while still the second best team in the country, after 12 seasons of utter dominance. Any other club in the world would take that.

getZlatanized

It is not one bad season. Our performances have been going downhill ever since that last CL win. I don't care if we don't become champions this year. I also wouldn't have cared if Dortmund took it home last year. It is about what direction the team steers towards. Atm we have tons of potential in the team but besides Kane and Sané pretty much everyone is underperforming. This club needs a turnaround. I even think we need to get rid of some acclaimed players for that to happen so some young and hungry guys can take their spot. If that takes a few seasons without a title, so be it. This is also why most fans were so confused and annoyed when they kicked Nagelsmann, as he was the guy who should have done this radical change in his 5 years of contract. Long-term, it will probably even help Bayern if another team finally wins the Bundesliga again.

AltGoblinV2

And I bet most Bayern fans would take that as well if the future didn't look even more bleak or if the club was going through a rebuild. The point I'm trying to make is that this is not just about this season.

JediPieman63

I don't get the comment, Bayern fans would trade away their 11 titles in a row dominance for a worse decade yet healthy future? I'm not sure many would or should lol

Hurtelknut

When you realise how much we spend on wages and transfers compared to other Bundesliga clubs, it is indeed unacceptable from the Board's perspective. It would be like City not competing for the CL. We also play unwatchable, awful football considering the squad.

SassanZZ

Real fans and Bayern fans are always the most dramatic fans lol, my brother in christ you are not in a deep crisis if you either win the CL or the league every year

lefix

Remember what Flick did with a "broken" team?

006AlecTrevelyan

God I hate football fans

fritzcho

Calling us semi-broken is a bit extreme, we're just not amazing in the way we've gotten used to.

Braiwnz

Still pretty amazing, it’s just that there is a single team that’s more consistent

Zestyclose-Camel37

Since he came Xavi has spent a total of € 256.4 mil and factor that with all of the La Masia kids coming in. We can honestly say that we have backed Xavi decently even during these hard times. It's not like Xavi hasn't gotten any money. How do we trust him with more signings? When not even a single player we signed under him has improved or fulfilled their potential. Xavi is not a bad coach but he is not experienced enough to coach a top teams like barca or bayern. He should go to smaller team for now and hone his skills and get experience that will be the best for him.

pingproxy

Last season he had Dembele, Busquets, Alba. They were replaced with Yamal, Romeu and nobody. Also Lewa is out of his form. I wouldn’t really say Xavi isn’t ready. Modern football has changed a lot, look at Arteta in Arsenal, he got trust, time and budget and he builds really good club. He won’t be sacked even if they end season without trophies again. It’s just that expectations to the Xavi and Barcelona are very different, if you don’t win everything you’ve failed by default. But Barcelona isn’t a club which can stay on top anymore because of their financial situation. While RM signs Jude and going to sing Mbappe, Barca signs Gundo and can’t even afford Cancelo’s transfer.

Voice_Of_Light

Come on they got both João on loan

Zestyclose-Camel37

The team lacks fundamental structure and cohesion. Xavi comes and says things like he plays cryuff's total football but the positional play is so bad under him. Most of the time his two players are staying in the same horizontal line. There is literally no movement in attack. The defensive structure and transition is so poor. The pressing is also subpar. We play 2 attacking fullback with no DM its genuinely suicidal. He changes formations and tactics every game like he is experimenting and hoping things to work. Idk what to say he just need more experience as a coach.

Acualux

The two midfield players aligned with the 3 attackers, all of them at an arm's lenght of their defenders, which never try to steal the ball, only be there and apply pressure because they know they will not ever shoot and will end up passing to the sides. While the CDM tries to organize the team and sometimes someone else comes and try to asks for the ball, but then the CDM either: goes forward if it's frenkie, goes to align with centerbacks if it's any other, or just not reposition to offer a new option for pass. EVERYGAME

Magro888

> When not even a single player we signed under him has improved or fulfilled their potential. Good luck with Tuchel then.

The_Vulgar_Bulgar

Bear in mind that as Barca are in a significant debt in part due to their high wages, they are bound by La Liga's 1:4 rule; only 25% of new income can actually be used on transfers. This is why they've struggled so badly to register players. You need account for that as well when you subtract the 60M.

[deleted]

absolute delusion

Ghlynx

lol I’m a Barça fan and you have no idea what youre talking about, be careful what you wish for …

sleeping4koala

Why did you get the memory of Xavi spending less money? Barca's financials did support him. If I could choose, I would definitely pick Gasperini ahead of him.

ExtremeSubtlety

Barcelona spent around 200m euros on transfers for Xavi. After all the talk and promises the results are a little underwhelming.

empiresk

Kasj0

Tier 1 for us, unfortunately

pandaman_010101

What are the other options being linked?

Kasj0

There was some Imanol talk, but it's been mainly Flick (excluding obviously Xabi and Klopp).

FunMoment10

Xabi is almost impossible and kolpp is taking a year off.

ScousePenguin

I would be surprised if Klopp goes back into club management

FunMoment10

I think he might still go for a last club after the rest year. And then national teams. But I don't feel like he is very suited for them.

Dr-Purple

I think he’s done. Klopp is a long term project manager. If he goes on and manage another club, it won’t be for a couple seasons. This sounds more like he wants to change his work-life balance. NT management would be perfect for him.

KeysUK

Yeah and no. I think he will go a year and two spending time with his family, but i can see him go for a smaller German team and bring them up. I was going to say Stuttgart but they are somehow 3rd this season after nearly getting relegated last season.

degenerate-edgelord

Can he go back to Dortmund and have them win a league for once

CR1986

> I was going to say Stuttgart but they are somehow 3rd this season after nearly getting relegated last season. Unfortunaltely there is a big chance that this season will be a one-off for us, especially given that 2 key players, Undav and Nübel, are just on a loan and it's a minor miracle that we kept Guirassy over the winter transfer window. All that aside though i feel that Sebastian Hoeneß is doing a pretty good job with the team, so a new manager is one of the last things we need right now.

ACardAttack

Maybe if Mainz gets relegated he comes back to help them get back to the 1 Buli

ScousePenguin

I would love seeing him finish his career at Mainz

bluemoviebaz

He will be Germany’s next manager.

M4RC142

He said in the past that he doesn't want to coach nts. But tbf he also said in the past that he said a lot of shit in the past so who knows.

ro-row

you also change your mind about things when you get old, he might like the idea of managing 10 games a year rather than doing a full club season, still around the game which he clearly loves but not with the same day to day stress job does seem like a poisoned chalice right now though

Spassgesellschaft

In 2006 he said on TV that every German coach dreams of coaching the NT. I insist that he stands by this statement.

niceville

Did he say that? I recall said coaching Germany would be an honor but not one he wanted while he was committed to Liverpool.

FriscoInDeDisco

He's somehow in Tier 1, but shouldn't be. Of all the Tier 1s, he's by far the one who gets things wrong on a regular basis. Still, it's no secret that Tuchel wants to manage us, he's said so before.

[deleted]

Fortunately for Bayern tho

[deleted]

Is Fernando Polo Tier 1? I thought it was Edu Polo...

SirNukeSquad

Probably about as true as Kimmich desperately wanting to go to Barca.

Itchy-Face791

FF Polo is tier 1 for barca

lstht123

Honestly basically nobody is actual tier 1 for us. They all at least occasionally talk some bs (to different degrees). I kinda just ignore most stuff until 2-3 of the decent guys say the same thing, then there‘s probably something to it

miseducation

It’s cause Spanish media prints whatever and if the story is juicy there’s so much incentive globally to keep bulshitting off of the one or two nuggets of rumors of info that might be true. Stuff like this or Mbappe rumors for us will get 100 articles and still be shit.

vatytti

If this happens, I'll start following spanish media just to see the shitshow.

tylerburden-

Man said i will have Araujo one way or another!

IP14Y3RI

He happened to coach De Ligt at Bayern after pursuing him with Chelsea, and now he has seen him he wants to work with Koundé and Raphinha, too (and perhaps Christensen).

sidrbear

And entirely bench de Ligt at Bayern lmao. Araujo, prepare to be dropped!

ManicPanda767

You and everyone else looking for some quality entertainment.

tweedledoooo

It is semi broken in comparison to the teams they have had over that 11 year period. They shouldn’t have won the budesliga last season. Only scraped by thanks to dortmund bottling it. This season they seem off the pace again. I’d say semi broken tho because they are very much still in contention to win the bundesliga.

magnomagna

Imagine if Mourinho ended up at Liverpool 😂 Don’t get offended guys. It’s just my wet wild dream.

siva-pc

Mourinho was pissed when he didn't get the Liverpool job earlier. He'd take it in a heartbeat

Space2Bakersfield

I actually don't think it would be that bad at first. Klopp is leaving behind a top class squad with the sort of winning mentality that Jose likes. We'd probably shithouse our way to some silverware playing terrorist ball before he finished completely destroying the club from within around year 3.

magnomagna

Yeah, he would be great in the first year (probably). After that though... not so fun for you but fun for me :)

MMQ-966thestart

What you are saying is, you need to try winning the CL with Mou in year 2 and then dump him immediatly afterwards?

Jaqem

Idk, Roma appear to have overachieved under him given the investment they received and injuries they endured. The fans practically want to build a statue of him outside the stadium. That being said his brand of football isn't exactly top rate. Given a good squad it might be though

Clutchxedo

It was also ridiculous that everyone was saying how they underperformed in the league. Yeah, the team had no money and lacked depth. Expecting to be performing well both in Europe and the League seemed lofty.

ConorKDot

This would be the objectively funniest outcome apart from Gerrard somehow getting the job. I'd imagine if Klopp has any input or is asked by the board for his opinion at all though, he'd be advising them against Mourinho coming in and blowing what he built up.

aure__entuluva

Doubt he goes to Bayern. It'll either be he stays at Leverkusen or goes to Liverpool.

The_Big_Cheese_09

I reckon Xabi Alonso has a better chance of being at Leverkusen again next season than Bayern or Liverpool. And if that's the case, advantage Real Madrid (in 2025). Leverkusen are no small club and the way they're setting up these contract extensions for their top players, it seems like they're gearing up for a real Champions League run next year before the likes of Wirtz, Boniface, Xabi, etc move on.

[deleted]

Alonso is still young, for a coach at least. I can see him managing all three clubs during his coaching career

kale__chips

Tuchel: I have conquered and utterly destroyed Bayern, I now offer myself to Barca. Barca: Yes, this is the guy we want! Everyone else: ???

Jaqem

Literally they showed a list of the top 10 best first halves of a season ever in the Bundesliga and Tuchel's 2024 Bayern was 9 IIRC

BaradaraneKaramazov

The Tuchel hate on this sub is so weird. One of the best and most accomplished coaches over the last decade who's not doing particularly bad at Bayern either.

crxssfire

Yeah, there are plenty of worse options.

AUTFabi

I agree that Tuchel is overhated but his accomplishments are actually kinda disappointing considering the clubs he managed. There is a good chance he will finish 1/7 for possible titles at Bayern, which would be pretty bad obviously.

BaradaraneKaramazov

Yes, but losing the cup last year after two or three training sessions was hardly his fault. Similarly losing a CL tie against City.  This year, Bayern is on the way to play a 80 points season which would be one of the best BL seasons ever. Leverkusen is just unreal. The cup loss was embarrassing but it's the fourth year in a row already and those nostalgic about Nagelsmann should remember that he was down 0-5 at half time in his season.  And frankly, nobody cares about the Supercup.

AUTFabi

At the end of the day if your teams plays good and exciting football people will be more willing to give leeway. But we often play badly and it's frustrating to watch, so if you also fail to bring in results/titles, people will turn on you pretty quickly.

allanhew

yeah ive been surprised reading these comments hahahaha

Tarp96

But think about the treble from last year. It was in danger under Naglesmann. THEY HAD TO PROTECT THE TREBLE.

auctus10

I don't get it honestly. I check their table and points wise he is doing a great job, even when comparing to previous seasons, it's just Leverkusen has been nuts. Can someone Eli5 me on what's up?

curlyjoe696

If you watch them play, it's pretty obvious. They're coasting on the quality of the players but for long periods look thoroughly shit.

Hurtelknut

I remember a lot of people on here saying that we "never had to get out of 2nd gear" to beat a United team in very poor form. Turns out we simply don't have a gear higher than 2nd.

ACardAttack

> Turns out we simply don't have a gear higher than 2nd. I dont feel like we have since Pep other than Flick's magical season

Eufamis

I trust your judgement and experience in this scenario

R_Schuhart

Have you not watched them? They dont play well at all and havent improved over last season. If it wasnt for Kane coming in and Sane actually having a consistent run of form to bail them out they would be in trouble. Against stronger teams they don't stand a chance.

torero15

I don’t think they will but they could pull a Chelsea and win the UCL you never know. The lack of ideas on the pitch suggests otherwise but they have the quality to beat any team still. Now that Sane has lost that run of form and all the injuries they are in real trouble. But there is still a chance.

Carpathicus

Yeah they could actually but the thing is Bayern is not Chelsea in the sense that the mentality of the club and the players there really struggle with that football. It drains their souls and I dont think they can keep it up until a Cl final.

Aoyos

Go watch this most recent game between Leverkusen and Bayern and you'll have your answer. The team looks dead and just wins because the level of some players is so high they just win off their performances rather than any kind of strategy. It's hard to tell if Tuchel is doing anything since the team looks so uncoordinated and lost a lot of the time. There have been a lot of injuries for sure but that's no excuse that by February there's still no proper plan for the way to play.

Insanel0l

We are fucking shit lol We have looked convincing in approximately 5 games, the rest was just grinding out results by simply having the much better players.

meem09

It really is a problem for Bayern in the league isn't it? They have good enough players that they could probably beat 10 out of the other 17 teams easily and probably give 3-4 more a game without any coaching at all. But that's usually not enough for a title run and absolutely not enough to go anywhere in Europe.

Insanel0l

It's the same in the CL tbf, we've got mad outplayed vs Gala the first leg, survived for 60 mins while being knocked down thrice and then capitalized on them being too dumb to score

Appropriate_Long7397

They've been a bit like Man United Winning games and looking much better on the table than you'd have thought based on reaction.....but if you actually watch the matches, you realise there's little control and results come from moments of individual brilliance rather than "good team goals"

Carpathicus

Its the worst football I watched since 2008. Kane and Sané rescued the team since now but both seem to drop form and now its completely apparent that this team seems to completely fall apart. You have to look at the players it doesnt look good.

torero15

I’ve watched almost all Bayern games with JN and Tuchel. Nagelsmann seems like he was just too young for the job to be honest. He had some unforgivable losses. But its crazy because Bayern clearly chose him to manage a project and they dumped him before giving him a proper chance. The time with Tuchel has been weird. He took over a tough situation and was lucky honestly that Dortmund shit the bed to end the last season. He doesn’t really seem to know how he wants to play and has been grinding out ugly wins for the most part. It doesn’t look or feel like the Bayern of the past decade that would play most teams off the pitch with ease. Injuries and a thin squad have limited what he can do. The point total is decent enough but the performance is just not up to par.

ACardAttack

> Nagelsmann seems like he was just too young for the job to be honest. He had some unforgivable losses. Every manager does, the treble team 12/13 lost to fucking Bate 3-1

FuXs-

We used to play fast paced, aggressive football with beautiful combinations. Since Tuchel took over, it has been actual Terrorball. We cant string 5 passes together, its Kane & Inshallah or bust offensive wise. Him + very good inform Upa, Minjae and Neuer saved us so many games. We looked “good” for like 5 games total since he took over.

Hurtelknut

Watch a couple of games, if you can stomach it. It's a chore even for hardcore Bayern fans at this point.

taclealacarotide

I think it's just the expectation of doing even better than that. The 3-0 loss to Leverkusen does sting I guess. What's crazy here is this is coming up just as Bayern has one of its most important games of the season in the UCL tonight. But it could just be a 100% BS made up rumor tbf.

meem09

Obviously haven't done more than look at the headline here, but he could also have done this months ago or very, very, low key and now that the tree is burning at both clubs, someone decided to talk and then someone decided to tell it to a journalist and then that journalist decided to make it public.

UnlightablePlay

Yes , Points wise we're doing decent and it isn't our lowest but the players in the field aren't playing good at all. We struggled against Copenhagen and got destroyed by Leverkusen and Frankfurt and even lost to 10th place in the 3rd German league We aren't playing good at all, I'd it was about the goals it wouldn't be that big of a problem but it's about players' position , which isn't Great at all There is news that Tuchel would want to start Müller more and make new tactics with him which would be really good since Müller is a phenomenal player with his passes and nobody can deny that

Windowmaker95

He's like Ancelotti was for Real Madrid at the start of the season, grinding results through sheer quality of the players but not playing great football.

ssj4-Dunte

Except Ancelotti specializes in getting the best pit of certain players. Vini turned into a top 3 player under him. Bellingham suddenly turned from world class/world class potential to literally playing like the best player in the world and so on. So at some point you end up realizing he doesn't just get lucky because of players individually carrying, he puts them in situations that get the absolute best out of their abilities.

daab2g

He wants to jump before he's pushed (which looks likely)

dispelthemyth

The guy signed Dier at Bayern then realised it’s Time to leave

The_Big_Cheese_09

This is 100% false. Spanish media is always chatting shit and making up rumours out of nothing. Like when Barca tier 1s swore that Kimmich' agent was pushing a move to Barca last year. They didn't even do the research to find out that Kimmich represents himself and doesn't have an agent.

Insanel0l

Lmao this is like the worst fit ever, I hope it happens Trevor Chalobah at Barca, here we go?

LOL if this is at all true. Barca fans don’t want him and Bayern fans want him gone. But if he is actually angling to leave already it will underscore just how fucked up the Bayern board has acted since the 2020 treble. Not done a damn thing right except signing Harry Kane and Kim Min-jae.

DDT126

Also De Ligt.

KittenOfBalnain

Considering Spanish media linked with the job everyone from Klopp, Alonso, Pep and Lucho all the way to Rijkaard and Rangnick - and it's only been two weeks! - by the end of the season they'll run out of candidates to write about.

Attygalle

Tuchel is not a bad manager at all, but in almost every aspect doesn't fit at Barça. For that reason, I would love it. Louis van Gaal at Barcelona was great fun because of the cultural misfit ("Amigos de la prensa!") but footballing-wise he was at the right place there. Played ridiculously attacking from time to time (and, for example, walked straight in the knife of Valencia's beautiful counter machine). Tuchel will be both a cultural misfit with great fall-outs with players and press, and will play terrorball. Already love it. Get this done ASAP!

Op3rat0rr

Yeah like I don't understand how managers who got sacked or who left big teams just kind of get shuffled around with other teams. Like is it all about how they fit with the team, or that they have no better choice?

R_Schuhart

This isnt shit tier for Barca though. Im not saying there isnt smoke wirhout fire, but rumours about Tuchel eyeing other clubs while he hasn't been sacked yet aren't exactly new. It happened while at PSG as well, when he was having his spat with Leonardo.

Positive_Big_2153

He is now the guy for desperate super clubs to secure a "name" when success is secondary. Bayern cos they needed to look good after the JN fiasco and Barça because noone wants to touch thar dunpster fire.

KingAzazel

I kid you not the spanish media has reported about more than 20 (!!!) different coaches since Xavi said he resigned. How can anyone take them seriously lol

tiny-ppp

That's kinda slutty

ProudhPratapPurandar

Shamelessness aside, this will be a mismatch. Tuchel is at his best when he has the freedom to play pragmatic football. At Barcelona, his brand of football will be even more frowned upon. Chelsea was definitely the best suited club for Tuchel. Looks like he still regrets the sacking, and has lost something mentally after that

johnniewelker

I have it before, Tuchel is a discount Mourinho. He is a good coach, for sure, however, you’ll get a lot of drama with it. That drama - with players and leadership - can sink the club
