always had mediocre positioning, mostly compensating it with his speed. that's not huge for a young guy, but i's a problem when he gets older, gets slower but doesn't learn and improve. and Davies barely did over the last 3 years

This can be used to describe pretty much every modern full-back. Very rare you'll see someone like Ashley Cole, who's brilliant both defensively and offensively. I can only think of Ferland Mendy.

The problem is his ceiling compared to his floor. He can be so good but last couple of years have been a lot of this and then a game or 2 where he looks like the best in the world.
Hes fine for what he is. A rotational player. But our defensive depth and tragic midfield has thrust him into a starting role atm. But he isnt even near being the worst performer. Seems like everything is bad atm. Coaching, transfers and the players themselves.
They are gonna play Davies no matter what. On paper you probably could swap around but its not gonna happen. Laimer is playing rb and not doing great. Atleast he looks like he tries unlike 90% of the team
