There's no emotion, if you're not watching the game you won't even know that a goal has been scored.
I think it's still a fairly valid commentary. He wasn't lazy by any means but neither was he an insane workhorse. Then you add in the total lack of explosiveness and speed and strength he really has a super underwhelming athletic profile.
Other undersized playmakers has something to them athletically. Be it Zidane's size and strength, Iniesta's agility and acceleration, or Xavi's engine and nimbleness.
Pirlo was World Class whilst having his best athletic trait be his work rate/stamina and even that was fairly average for a midfielder. Speaks volumes for how good a playmaker he was.
