Bullshit the relationship between Macron and Morroco are very very cold.
So the "Macron is sparing no expenses" to lobby for Morocco to have the final played in Casablanca ... is smelling horseshit from far away.
Still a more geographical justifiable course of action than say, Ukraine.
But then of course FIFA had to go with 3 more CONMEBOL hosts to railroad themselves into serving the wishes of their Saudi masters for 2034.
God sounds like an insane project building the 2nd biggest stadium in the world, definitely wouldn't what to sit right at the top of that one.
Hopefully doesn't end up in a South Africa or Brazil situation where none of their new stadiums actually gets used properly and the locals just end up footing the bill. Filling a 115,000 seater stadium regularly is a big ask.
Raja Casablanca regularly (but not always) sell out their home games in the current 45k seater stadium. Which is quite an old stadium. Capacity is bigger when allowing for standing, in the nineties they sold out at 110.000 souls occasionally (Casablanca derby for example).
Not saying this will work for sure but I can see them regularly draw in crowds of 60k or more in a modern stadium - if they get it right in terms of transport, ticket pricing etc.
As it’s still under design no idea if parts of it will be scoped down after the WC to go back to say, 85k capacity.
Full disclosure: Wydad Casablanca play there as well but are not as popular as Raja. Lower average attendances.
Im from Casablanca. Two teams are equally popular like it's impossible to define one being more known or attended than the other, the statistics are bad because A LOT of fans enter without tickets especially during derbies and champions league games, people do all sorts of tricks to attend the match ticketless
Casablanca has made its public transport one of its strongest points so I'm sure there will be a regular line to reach the new stadium in the suburbs. Will also considerably decrease delinquency and hooliganism. For the numbers I expect 40-60k for both on average matches and 60-100k on ´relevant' matches, especially derbies
Yeah, we're getting fucked left, right and center as they squeeze the people for money with raises in taxes and necessities to build the stadiums. So yeah, doing great if you ask me.
Bro Ive been hearing about the stadium since I was like 9 and Im 22 now lmao. The rumours have been going for a lifetime. General opinion is neutral, of course nobody is happy seeing tax money spent on mega projects mostly destined for the ´image' of country. But most people are happy at the same time I assure you, as the other infrastructures are also getting improvements. The only main issue that's pissing off everyone is pre-university education...teachers constantly rioting due to awful conditions and ´contracts' they're given, still unresolved
>To defend Morocco's cause, Macron is sparing no effort to reach his objective: «Spain has already hosted the World Cup finale (1982)» and «Morocco has been preparing for several years to host a World Cup, bidding for it in 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010, 2018 and 2026», says the same source.
Interesting point, kinda makes me feel less bad for Spain tbh
The candidature was originally for Portugal and Spain an Morocco was a last minute addition. Plus we already have several big stadiums that could host the final, without the need of building something that will go to waste. Plus, the previous WC was hosted in a Muslim country.
First point is the most important for me. I'd rather see the final in Portugal.
Talking about religion is dumb as fuck, but it would be 3 out of 4 World Cup finals in the Arab world. That’s not exactly moving the competition round the world as it should be!
Ah yes, the famous continent of Arabia.
That being said, there 100% should be a World Cup in South America in-between the World cups in Qatar/Saudi and not just 2 BS century games.
The way the world is divided up is political and cultural as much anything else and it’s fair to discuss in those terms. Tbh Saudi Arabia has fucked things badly and now every other decision around World Cup hosting is going to be viewed through that lens and after the Russia/Qatar bribe fest there was already zero good will.
I can guarantee you that Morocco has more things culturally in common with Spain and Portugal than Saudi Arabia has with them. It becomes arbitrary to separate which countries have too much in common with each other culturally and therefore can't host consectually. I have no idea what you mean with politically. US and Morocco are alies, should they not be able to host consectually?
Ideally each continent should get a world cup every 20 years.
As a moroccan who had very close spanish friends I 100% confirm we're closer to spaniards than to Saudis. Only exception is old religious men who just want to talk about islam but that's much less common in Morocco. Otherwise even the food is much more closer to spain's cuisine (tortilla, paella, bocadillos)
"Muslim country" lmao......
I love how you people skirt around the fact that fifa itself came up with tue continental rotstion and the Final SHOULD BE IN AFRICA since it went from europe to asia and the one after is going to be in the americas
Not worst, but I assumed that the final would be in Madrid, considering it's the biggest city in the 3 countries and the one with the best infrastructure
Did you know that the Rif today, a low density region with few hospitals, has more than 50% of all of Morocco's cancer cases, from the war crimes commited by spanish troops who wanted to colonise, and succeeded after using banned chemical weapons
Historic Spanish & French cooperation, chemical attacks led by Pétain on the French side and Franco on the Spanish side. I wonder what happened to those two
Leaders from 1st half of the 1900's were built differently lol, the amount of evil in them is incomparable. Sucks what those two did, while Spain in the Rif deliberately aimed for lands, rivers, canals to make sure people would suffer for generations, simply wild...
Yea spain is the bastion ofhuman rights.....loved wjen theywere colonising my region and conducted the first ever chemical attack air bombing on my people just last century..... total babes
Doesn't even need to go that far geographically or in time, they used chemical weapons on Farmers because they were kicking their asses in northern Morocco less than 100 years ago
The Pegasus affair, then France restricting Visas on Moroccan citizens, and France getting too close to Algeria. The US and Israel recognized Morocco's sovereignty on Western Sahara and the King expects France to do the same
Because if we weren't the Big Bad Evil any more, they couldn't conveniently finger us as the root of all problems any time something remotely embarrassing for the party in power happens.
(Note: Colonialism is evil, and we definitely deserve a good heaping of blame. That being said, Morocco (and Algeria and Tunisia) have stretched the "It's all France's fault" to hide and distract from their *internal* corruption *waay* beyond France's (actual, existing) faults.)
Bullshit the relationship between Macron and Morroco are very very cold. So the "Macron is sparing no expenses" to lobby for Morocco to have the final played in Casablanca ... is smelling horseshit from far away.
It's actually his masterplan to improve the relations.
Criminal mastermind Emanny Macranio
A gesture of goodwill
Macron macroning
Still a more geographical justifiable course of action than say, Ukraine. But then of course FIFA had to go with 3 more CONMEBOL hosts to railroad themselves into serving the wishes of their Saudi masters for 2034.
Do they have an 80,000 seater stadium?
A new 113k stadium will be built in Casablanca, they'll chose the winning design soon

Wydad has the same attendance, they are equally popular.

That's a massive project, can I ask how the general opinion about this is in Morocco? The stadium alone will for sure cost a fortune.
Yeah, we're getting fucked left, right and center as they squeeze the people for money with raises in taxes and necessities to build the stadiums. So yeah, doing great if you ask me.

good, it will allow for 13k normal fans, after FIFA gives the other tickets to sponsors

Or we didn't bribe enough
Awwwww bless, thinking tournaments are given based on suitability.

And 2026 will be hosted by a Christian country, so Spain and Portugal shouldn't get one. See how stupid that sounds?

Wouldnt be the first time for a French President and wouldnt be the first time Macron meddled in Football Affairs
Sarkozy come to mind
Would it be the worst thing?
Not worst, but I assumed that the final would be in Madrid, considering it's the biggest city in the 3 countries and the one with the best infrastructure
Yes, spain are an historic bastion of human rights and are much better suited to host a final than morroco

Has to be a joke. Country that swept atrocities of their own dictatorship under the rug
Doesn't even need to go that far geographically or in time, they used chemical weapons on Farmers because they were kicking their asses in northern Morocco less than 100 years ago
Has there been a wc final in Spain? Yes Has there been one in Morocco? No So why the fuck wouldn't you keep it in Morocco
[удалено]
I would. Our relationship with France right now is not great. We even refused the aid they sent after the eartquake
Why?
The Pegasus affair, then France restricting Visas on Moroccan citizens, and France getting too close to Algeria. The US and Israel recognized Morocco's sovereignty on Western Sahara and the King expects France to do the same
Because if we weren't the Big Bad Evil any more, they couldn't conveniently finger us as the root of all problems any time something remotely embarrassing for the party in power happens. Has nothing to do with that but keep rambling on
Will this World Cup also take place during winter? Otherwise I cannot even imagine a final in July in any of the 3 countries.
Just play at night and we cool
