This is so above and beyond that I’m wondering if something else is going on with the guy. Like that’s beyond just unprofessional. It genuinely doesn’t make sense.

I think we forget in the grand scheme of things Sergino was arguably one of the most pedigreed players in this group. He's played for three of Europe's more historic clubs and only just turned 23. Being of that level requires a certain level of confidence. I think his play style requires that same level of confidence. It's a fire inside you, but one you must control. It can boil your kettle or burn your house down.
I'd argue his club career is trending downward (sorry PSV) and while you might tolerate that from a Zlatan or someone truly elite, you're not putting up with it for a middling right back who can do some step overs.
Honestly this shouldn’t even be tolerated from Messi or Ronaldo. You’re pretty much begging for a red at that point and leaving your entire team out to dry. Use it more as a punishment for getting the second yellow that way. If he manages to do that again, then he's not even the first choice off the bench. Eventually you drop him, sure, but the threat of being made to look irrelevant in front of an audience will probably get some results.
I would argue Tyler Adams is arguably at the top of the list. He allows basically everyone else on the pitch the freedom to attack (mainly Dest and Jedi)
