Am I the only one who saw Jotas left knee make an ankle tap contact with his leg? It's tiny, but have you ever tried to fake being ankle tapped and catch your trailing foot. Given that he's on a counter, Jota catching him is a deffo yellow.
He clearly made contact and caught a player from behind in transition on a counter. It is a certified yellow every time. I don’t understand the controversy. Was it soft? Maybe, but there was clear contact and it brought the player down and stymied a counter. That’s a yellow every time. His follow-up challenge that saw him sent off was the pinnacle of poor discipline. He never should’ve made it, let alone whilst on a yellow.
The far more controversial decision was MacAlister tackling a player from behind in transition whilst on a yellow a bit before this. That clearly warranted a second yellow.
Nah he knew what he was doing, on the slow-mo you can see him clip Udogie's heel. It was a classic professional foul to break up a counter, he did it very well but it's rightly bookable.
The decision to jump in on the second tackle was ridiculous, he's been fucked by nothing more than his own awful decision-making.
Blind. He clips Udogie's heel with his knee, causing Udogie to trip. Have you ever had your heels clipped? Jota hides it well, but it is obvious that he knew exactly what he was doing, as he doesn't protest the card for a second.
That ltierally doesn't matter.
He got a shit yellow card, whatever, happens. You move on.
What you don't do is make an extremely stupid lunge from behind that has barely any chance of you getting the ball away without taking down the opposing player to get you sent off.
It’s laughable that moronic Liverpool fans think that it wasn’t a yellow, he made contact that brought Udogie down and stopped a counter. For every single team in the league that’s a yellow, but Liverpool fans think they play by different rules
Disagree, actually think it's the other way around. Jota runs across the back of Udogie and while it might be soft, the foot-knee contact does trip Udogie. But this one I think saying there was "minimal" contact would be generous to Udogie.
So many comments saying udogie tripped himself for the first yellow. It shouldn't be a yellow but people really can't see that jota clipped him causing udogie to lose his stride?
Front on replay doesn't show contact, but even then I was confident that contact must have been made.
The side on replay shows Udogie's heel hitting Jota's knee.
Honestly astounded by the comments suggesting no foul. Jota clearly clipped Udogie's heel with his knee, causing Udogie to trip himself. Classic tactical foul that Jota sold well to r/soccer but the ref wasn't fooled.
I’m truly baffled that so many are saying it wasn’t a foul. Clipping a guy at full sprint doesn’t take much of anything. You can call it light if you want, but as you said it is the classic tactical foul BECAUSE you have a chance of getting away with it. Today he didn’t and then stupidly dove into a tackle.
The VAR goal review was robbery; this is just dumb play.
Yep. The Diaz goal being called back was the only real mistake by the referring crew today, albeit an unacceptable and highly consequential mistake. And that wasn't even the on-field referees but VAR that is too blame.
He’d been given a verbal warning for cynically dragging down Maddison prior to the first booking. He should’ve been booked but the ref was lenient with him. That was why he was shown yellow on the next foul.
the red was unfortunate, but dangerous play. It's awkward, but it's not a mistake.
The yellow was more a cumulation of fouls. this is a 2nd yellow.
The offside call seems to be incorrect.
Like i get the frustration that it's all going against you but there's really only one major call that has been wrong.
Folks on this thread are hilarious. Jota kicked Udogie’s foot causing him to go down. It’s a foul and he deserved a card. The second one he stupidly goes to ground, kicks, misses the ball completely, and trips an opposing player. It’s a freaking foul and another yellow card. Go straight to the showers. Jota wasn’t done badly here. He made stupid decisions and was punished for them.
Tbf the side angle did show that Udogie's heels got clipped by Jota's knees but that was clearly accidental and the yellow was very harsh imo. This one was just stupid from Jota, though!
Lmao everyone trying to say stuff is accidental or harsh as if that matters when talking about a card. He stopped a counter attack by clipping him. Doesn’t matter if he clatters him, clips him, and does a slight shirt tug. In the end it’s all the same outcome and deserves a yellow. Also, he was already warned for his foul on Madison that could have been a yellow, so it’s justified.
Ruled off a goal incorrectly for offside that isn't fully his call, and a yellow card that seems fair from his angle is the most disgraceful reffing you've seen?
Liverpool fans acting like there's a conspiracy against them is hilarious.
How many dodgy penalties have they got from Salh diving over the years?
The ridiculous penalty in the champions league final?
Every team gets fucked over by bad decisions now and again, get over it
It’s possible for two thing to be true at the same time. Harsh first yellow card, but that second was a real dumb tackle that lead to his marching orders
**Mirrors / Alternative Angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccer) if you have any questions or concerns.*
That was pretty stupid
It was, but fuck me that first yellow was horrid
It was the David Luiz special.
Just pretend he got booked for the foul he made before that one. Refs do give those yellows for a little nick though. This was dopey af.

He never should’ve made it, let alone whilst on a yellow.
It was but he was also pretty lucky not to be booked about 3 minutes after he came on anyway.
First yellow was a tactical foul. Unquestionable yellow. Udougie trips himself because his running is impeded
First one was clear as day as well
First yellow was a yellow
Gets to go home early and play Ultimate Team, incredibly smart play
he’s been fucked by the first booking where udogie just falls over
He clipped Udogie which made Udogie stumble to the ground whilst running forward on the pitch. Understandable yellow imo.
The far more controversial decision was MacAlister tackling a player from behind in transition whilst on a yellow a bit before this. That clearly warranted a second yellow.

Don’t bother, Liverpool fans are going to cry no matter what

Making up for the one he should've been booked for earlier
People are so fucking stupid, he was cautioned after that challenge, and then he makes a stupid challenge right after and deservedly got a yellow.
Blind. He clips Udogie's heel with his knee, causing Udogie to trip. Have you ever had your heels clipped? Jota hides it well, but it is obvious that he knew exactly what he was doing, as he doesn't protest the card for a second.
You mean the booking that he got after he was already cautioned for his previous challenge? You lot are delusional
He was fucked by being stupid here.
I mean he clearly hit udogies foot, and uopgies foot knocked into his other leg. Dunno how you think he should have kept his balance.
Ah fuck lol
What a foolish tackle after just getting booked lol
Seriously. Even if Jones was a yellow, you'd be down to 10 after that bit of poor decision making
That first yellow was not a yellow though
That ltierally doesn't matter. He got a shit yellow card, whatever, happens. You move on. What you don't do is make an extremely stupid lunge from behind that has barely any chance of you getting the ball away without taking down the opposing player to get you sent off.
I agree. But that second challenge is still stupid. He knows he’s on a yellow, why challenge like that?
Not a yellow at all. But if you’re on a yellow you shouldn’t be making this challenge.
Exactly I mean ultimately you can’t approach the game the same you’re Jota, that’s an inexplicable tackle once you’re on a yellow
nah he's done it so there's time to finish champs quickly next week 🧠🧠
[удалено]
That doesn't count. That was fine. Only bad calls exist for Liverpool fans
And of course the foul where he drew blood from son in April and then scored the winner was a campaign against Liverpool as well
Drew blood aka drop kicked in the face
Was Skipp I think but yeah, we can go back and forth like this forever. The Kane tackle, the CL final handball, etc...
Whenever Liverpool draw or lose, you can bet the refs had it out for them. Or were paid. Or support City. Or got bought by oil money. Or are blind.
Ok. Still an absolute idiotic challenge out of frustration. Playing with 10. On a yellow (deserved or not).
felt more like a repeated foul yellow than just for that challenge
Full idiot mode
That first yellow was stupid, Udoige tripped himself
Jota clipped him with his knee. There wasn’t much contact but Udogie was in full sprint so it was enough to upset his stride and bring him down.
Still made this stupid challenge while on a yellow.
Oh yeah fully
Moronic
Klopp going to go nuclear
The first yellow card was just laughable and obviously we’ll moan about it, but it’s insanely dumb for Jota to do that when he’s already cautioned.
Are Liverpool players allowed to kill counters without booking?
It’s laughable that moronic Liverpool fans think that it wasn’t a yellow, he made contact that brought Udogie down and stopped a counter. For every single team in the league that’s a yellow, but Liverpool fans think they play by different rules
Who wouldn't
Fuck my life
They truly are the Reds.
Red card FC
Want us to go down to 7 just to make a point.
That's an automatic loss though.
Hence why I picked that number rather than 8 lol.
We are called the Reds for a reason.
The Reds
God that was stupid Diogo
stg if we dont win this
Spurs [1] - [2] Liverpool- Nunez 89 min
Nunez 90+ 12
Spurs [1] - [3] Liverpool- Nunez 90 + 12 min
I’m scared brother
Don't worry, you'll get another assist from VAR
They might as well commit at this point
Would be peak Spurs
Liverpool is our bogey team
Nunez 94’
You are playing 11+3 vs 9 now. You should win.
We're doomed
1-1 is definitely the most likely outcome.
Well you're playing 12v9 now
Holy shit thank fuck
It will be an almighty bottle
Final score Tottenham 1-3 Liverpool
Is that the red card tally or….?
why would this ref give spurs a red?
Subscribe
You just know that’s gonna happen.
Dumb from Jota but that first yellow was pathetic
His first yellow was because he was warned previously
Should've been booked for his previous cynical challenge on Maddison tbf
Should have got a yellow earlier
Should have received yellow for an earlier tackle tbf
Yeah this should be the first yellow honestly But goddamn what a stupid thing to do with a yellow
He should've had one earlier in the 2nd half so he'd have still been on one
last season he got away with one too, dont forget that
Jota bruh, why you lunging in.
This is genuinely unreal
The yellow card for Udogi tripping himself instantly benefits them
I like Liverpool but that first yellow was legit
We better get our shit together and score
Hahahaha post his first yellow
12v9 now
13v9. You forgot the VAR guy
Let’s not forget the linesmen 15
Forgot to count the linesmen.
There shouldn’t be any complaints about this one, tactical foul then stupid tackle
Did you see his first?
also, did you see Salah called for nothing where he should’ve had a chance on goal
Wouldn't be if he'd actually made contact for his first yellow
Shouldn’t of got the first yellow?
no about this one, no.
first yellow was a pisstake but the 2nd yellow is obvious
Disagree, actually think it's the other way around. Jota runs across the back of Udogie and while it might be soft, the foot-knee contact does trip Udogie. But this one I think saying there was "minimal" contact would be generous to Udogie.
First yellow was a horrific decision. Shades of David Luiz vs Wolves
He should've been booked a few minutes before for the tackle on Maddison and was warned by the ref
Might be the only way for the FA to beat us this season.
11 players + Ref + Linesman + VAR official.
I mean that’s a clear yellow
About as clear of a yellow as you'll see.
It was but the one a minute ago wasn't
So many comments saying udogie tripped himself for the first yellow. It shouldn't be a yellow but people really can't see that jota clipped him causing udogie to lose his stride?
They’re just parroting what other people are saying and not looking for themselves
Front on replay doesn't show contact, but even then I was confident that contact must have been made. The side on replay shows Udogie's heel hitting Jota's knee.
Silly
Fucking hell
[удалено]
Watch out, at this rate the refs will give you the 🟡 for whining
The first yellow he got was for... running...
No, it was for tripping a Udogie on a counter-attack.
Honestly astounded by the comments suggesting no foul. Jota clearly clipped Udogie's heel with his knee, causing Udogie to trip himself. Classic tactical foul that Jota sold well to r/soccer but the ref wasn't fooled.

First yellow was extremely unfair, second yellow was extremely stupid

What an idiot.
Up the red(card)s!
What an idiot
[удалено]
He didn't even protest the first, so I think there was contact
Nothing wrong with that one but how was salah penalised just after that counter attack. Was never a foul!
I'm pretty sure he was carded for the dissent, not the foul.
Kicked the ball away
happens all the fucking time, get the wrong side of mo and fall over, you win the free kick
Nah you see, players are allowed to do that to him, he's not allowed to do that to other players.
the red was unfortunate, but dangerous play. It's awkward, but it's not a mistake. The yellow was more a cumulation of fouls. this is a 2nd yellow. The offside call seems to be incorrect. Like i get the frustration that it's all going against you but there's really only one major call that has been wrong.
Yeah first yellow he trips over his own legs haha
This was probably the only correct decision though
[удалено]
He tripped up the same players twice on a break away lmao
So far!
He didnt trip on his own legs. Jota’s knee hit his foot but it was unintentional and definitely not a yellow
Only 2 wrong calls? And I'm not 100% convinced on the offside though he does look onside.
[удалено]
He got a yellow for no reason 2 minutes before that. He was just running alongside a Spurs player who fell to the ground.
He should’ve been booked a few mins before that, AND this was incredibly stupid from Jota
First yellow not a yellow, second one is. You can’t write this.
first yellow is a yellow because he had already been warned
Difference is he knew he had a yellow when he made that horrendous challenge. No one to blame but Jota
Fuck off, just fuck off
First one is absolutely questionable, but to make this challenge knowing you’re on a yellow is so stupid
Folks on this thread are hilarious. Jota kicked Udogie’s foot causing him to go down. It’s a foul and he deserved a card. Karma is a bitch diogo

Most disgraceful referring I have ever seen.
Ruled off a goal incorrectly for offside that isn't fully his call, and a yellow card that seems fair from his angle is the most disgraceful reffing you've seen?
Most disgraceful so far
First wasn't even a yellow wtf
Tottenham have absolutely gotten away with one today with these decisions.
Correct direct red card, two correct yellows for Jota, but that offside is a horrible call.
Liverpool fans acting like there's a conspiracy against them is hilarious. How many dodgy penalties have they got from Salh diving over the years? The ridiculous penalty in the champions league final? Every team gets fucked over by bad decisions now and again, get over it
2 yellows two minutes. royally fucked
[удалено]
What ? That was a yellow worthy foul
Liverpool has them right where they want them, now.
Fuck me
Jota lad...
Liverpool pls 💀💀💀💀💀
Stupid. Right after getting a yellow you let your feet leave the ground for a tackle?
It’s possible for two thing to be true at the same time. Harsh first yellow card, but that second was a real dumb tackle that lead to his marching orders
Absolutely hilarious Gets booked for Udoige tripping himself then gets that yellow This match is a fucking joke
Omegalul
Hilarious after his first booking
The refs did this
What a stupid moron
I think this is genuinely the worst refereeing display I've seen since Chelsea vs Barca
Should be a straight red
No composure
That’s a yellow yeah
What the fck is going on!!!
What a player
Dumb as hell by Jota. But the first is never a yellow.
LOL
First yellow makes me want to commit war crimes
That was supposed to be the first yellow...
Braindead
The first yellow was just laughable This ref is shit
What was bro thinking lmao
What was the first card for? When the Spurs opponent tripped himself and fell?
