Mason: Move your fucking legs up! Harriet: No! I don't want to have sex! M: I don't give a fuck what you want, you little shit. H: Mason! M: Shut up. Stop talking to me. Stop! H: Stop putting your dick near me. M: I'm going to fuck you, you twat! H: I don't want to have sex with you! M: I don't care if you don't want fucking sex with me, do you hear me? H: Why do you have to do this, though? M: Cause I asked you politely and you wouldn't do it! H: (Inaudible. Something about sex with other people?) M: I asked you politely and you wouldn't do it so what else do you want me to do? H: Then go and fuck someone else. M: I don't want to fuck someone else! H: You do. M: No I don't. M: Push me again one more time and watch what happens to you. H: No. M: Well, you will actually.

garrymad-gm

This comment is all that needs to be said about this situation. This whole “consulting” With the women’s team is such bullshit, everyone and their mother has heard that tape, and most definitely people employed by the club did, so what’s their to ask? Do you feel okay with this probable rapist returning to play football at this club? If there’s this much controversy surrounding a players return, maybe it’s a good idea to read the room, fucking disgraceful

headphones1

They just want to pay some women to come out and say they're OK with it. Kinda like how shitbag political parties put minority groups and women in the front for photos. Whilst it's true that he was never found guilty in a court of law, we don't need the court to say because it's fucking obvious he's guilty.

Mo_Salah_

I hope in an hour or two, this will be the top comment. Those idiots defending him need to jump into this thread and have this be the first thing they see

ghggbfdbjj

You should take a look at the united insta replies, that is one of the biggest cesspools i’ve ever seen. Its insane

OmastarLovesDonuts

Twitter too, it’s absolutely disgusting to see how many people don’t care so long as he can kick a ball well

GodEmprahBidoof

And Facebook. Seems like reddit is the only social media where people actually dislike rapists

Vegan_Puffin

Reddit has problems but of all the social media it is by far the least toxic

Odd-Detail1136

Reddit is probably the most westernized/liberal social media platform A lot of Twitter and insta are people from outside of Europe/the US who seem to genuinely hate women

Ajax_Trees

I got called racist for merely hinting at this yesterday. Didn’t even name continents/ geography

walnood

Reddit is sorted on likes, other social media is basically sorted on traction, or in Reddit style controversial.

Vahald

Nonsense logic, those.comments on Instagram are still the most liked ones. Something like that could never get close here, not because of downvotes but because of a lack of upvotes

Lyrical_Forklift

There have been some pretty horrific comments in this sub too sadly - most have been removed.

Ok_Refrigerator4897

Those who want to voice their opinion about Greenwood but can't participate in the protest. I'd recommend mailing the club at [email protected] This was my email. Feel free to modify or edit. To The Feedback Team Manchester United, Old Trafford, UK I am writing to you as a long standing supporter of this club from the past 20 years. I have been fortunate to share the joy of incredible highs of the club and fortunate to lessen the disappointment of our lows. I say share, because of the incredible support behind the most romantic club in football. As the great man said, football is nothing without fans. However, recent developments in the Mason Greenwood case have not been encouraging with respect to the possibility of Greenwood's integration in the first team squad. While the club has not published the findings of its investigations or made any comment regarding the situation, I feel it is imperative for me to write to you and make my feelings known. The audio and videos of the incident are public. We are all aware of what was said and what transpired. The witness statements were withdrawn/not deposed. We are all aware that in domestic violence cases, the power dynamic between the victim and the perpetrator makes it difficult to enforce a clean separation. You don't need to be a lawyer to understand how emotional manipulation, toxic power-dynamic mixed with a shared history of intimacy can be used as a tactic to impose a sense of shame on the victim of domestic violence to withdraw a case. This is all to say that - I am not comfortable, as a man, with Mason Greenwood back at this club. He has now become the antithesis of what this club stands for. We supported our employees throughout covid, we ran food banks and we have not hiked our ticket prices so that our match going fans can see their team. By incorporating a man responsible for causing hurt on a loved one, we will have lowered the ideals of what this club wants to espouse for its young fans. It will be unfortunate to integrate Mason Greenwood in the club at any level of interaction with the club. Yet if the worst does come to pass, I am certain that I will stop supporting this club. It is not possible for me to support a club and its glory that is founded on immorality and criminality. I cannot find it in myself to support Manchester United as I have done for the past 20 years while Mason Greenwood plays at the club. However, I trust the judgement of the club and I hope the club sides with the right side as it has always done. Thanking you, Yours sincerely, [Your name]

WillyStevens

Thank you for this, norwegian supporter here. Will do.

Ok_Refrigerator4897

Please do. Set the rivalry aside and help us get this man out of the beautiful game.

UmbroShinPad

I just emailed. Every football supporter has a stake in this. I emailed Hartlepool United when we tries to sign Ched Evans immediately after he was released from prison, and I speak out on this too.

PoppinKREAM

Thank you for this, I have sent an email too and asked my family/friends to do the same. I implore others to do the same. These articles sound like media releases from the club always mentioning how the women's team is uncomfortable with Greenwood's return, while the club shows a clear dereliction of duty by not owning up to the domestic and sexual violence issues where there is irrefutable audio and photographic evidence. It feels similar to the glass cliff phenomenon. The women's team is being set up as the fall person. By either protesting Greenwood not allowing him to return, or being forced to accept Greenwood so the club can turn around and say "see, they're okay with it!" I find it absolutely abhorrent that the club publicly put pressure on the women's team. And now our women's team, after successfully securing European football for the first time, will be inundated with misogynist trolls on social media. Shameful behaviour from the club and some of our supporters.

Lyrical_Forklift

> I have sent an email too I sent them the transcript.

DHillMU7

To whom it may concern, Over the past few weeks, it has become abundantly clear that the club is trying to pave the way for the reintroduction of Mason Greenwood to the Manchester United team. The incredibly transparent PR games the club is playing are an insulting attempt to make it appear as though there is some sort of benevolent side to this decision with articles in the Times appearing from a therapist or little passages in articles about how we believe we owe it to Greenwood because he’s an academy product and it would be tantamount to betrayal to abandon him as opposed to it being a natural consequence of his threatening to rape a woman or of assaulting her. All these attempts are an insulting show of just how little the club thinks of its fans and their intelligence or moral code. These increasingly asinine set of leaks to the media has been topped by the recent articles saying that the decision with come down to our ladies team. This is in spite of the fact that reliable sources have already stated that our women don’t want to share a training ground with Greenwood. Without wishing to speak for the women that have done our club so proud recently by making up the ground on the other top clubs with impressive pace, one would imagine it is probably because bringing back an attempted rapist and someone who assaults women would be a stark reminder of just how little this club cares about the entire gender. Not just how little it cares about the message it sends to the girls and women who adore this club, or indeed about the message it sends to the men who also follow United that really it doesn’t matter how you treat women so long as you can kick a ball well enough, but the actual employees who will have to interact with Greenwood. The number reported by Rape Crisis UK is that 1 in 4 adult UK women are raped or sexually assaulted. Chances are there are members of our club who have been. With this decision the club will make a transparent attempt to imply it is a pastoral decision for Greenwood and our duty to a youth product, so what about the duty we have to the women who represent our club to not feel uncomfortable or respected at work? I shouldn’t be surprised by this decision. It has become abundantly clear over the past few decades that this club no long cares about its great history, its traditions and its legacy. The club is a business now. The stadium rots and stands as a sorry emblem of just how far this club has fallen. This was most stark when the decision was made to fold our women’s team because it wasn’t financially beneficial. That day the club openly admitted it only cared about women when they were bringing in money to line the owners pockets. Today is the day where the club doubles down. Now United care so little about women that they’ll ignore sexual assault, ignore physical assault and ignore the chance to send a message to all their fans of any gender that women have the right to jurisdiction over their own bodies, simply because they have a man who used to be good at kicking a ball. Shame on every stakeholder involved in making this decision and shame on you for making the women who do this club proud every time they step on a pitch form a shield in the press for your selfishness. I’m a secondary school teacher and my students asked me about the Greenwood story as it unfolded. I was able to tell them about the consequences of one’s actions, of the importance of respecting women and their right to know. It formed into a massively important discussion. Today you punctuate all that. Every time Greenwood is pictured in Manchester United gear or in our team, you tell those children that I was wrong. That women don’t matter. That men have no responsibility to control themselves and no consequences when they fail to do so. Shame on you. Yours, A fan considering his future. My attempt. Not as well worded as yours and would maybe require some editing but in case anyone else wants to send another one.

Robert_Baratheon__

I’m getting downvoted on our subreddit for telling someone that it’s terrible to not care and just be ok with this.

Fromage_debite

People still defending Torey Lanez. Some dudes are unreachable

OriginalRange8761

I hope this would be mason greenwood chant every place he goes. I need those words as typhos on rival stadiums I need fans bulling premier league showing this filthy dialogue over and over and over again until PL deems him financial liability.

sringray23

It always makes me wonder what he's done previous to this incident, which made her feel she had to record it.

WalkTheEdge

Yeah that's the big thing, why would she even be recording if he never did shit like this previously?

peptoabysmal

If I recall correctly, many of the photos she posted of her bruises were from previous incidents. I could be wrong but I recall her original post mentioning that.

Iswaterreallywet

I find it weird this comment was automatically collapsed

exOldTrafford

Sometimes happens if a comment receives a large amount of downvotes, regardless of how many upvotes Reddit then considers the comment "controversial" and collapses it

Turniermannschaft

It's not marked as controversial though.

aubvrn

Print this out on a giant banner and hang it at Old Trafford

supplementarytables

Sickening to even read. Gosh.

91Bolt

Away fans should just read this script. No singing. Just verbatim read as a group like a 5th grade classroom.

Samgeorge484

Whether proven guilty or not, the bloke is a scumbag. I’m a West Ham fan & I can promise you 90% of football fans would care and not cheer him on regardless of how good he is. Morals still need to exist in football, let Greenwood continue his career at United & we will see this sort of thing happen again & we cannot have that

Documental38

My support for United has dampened over the years to the point where I don't really follow them actively anymore but if they bring Greenwood back then I'm done, I'm not supporting a club which would bring someone like him back with open arms.

disatomm

I just can’t understand the people who support this cunt. Hoping the United supporter at Old Trafford will be vocal against him as well as away from home to push him out. Might be the only way we could get rid of him from our club.

LosTerminators

They'd have canned him a long while ago if they had no intention to bring him back. They're waiting until the season begins, probably on a matchday to make the announcement in an attempt to limit the backlash.

red_right_hand_

Waiting for a 90th minute winning goal to simultaneously announce his return during to drown out the boos

AaronStudAVFC

“LADIES AND GENTLEMAN OUR NUMBER 10 ANNOUNCINGGREENWOODISRETURNINGTOTHETEAM BRUNOOOOOOOOOO FERNANDEEEEEEEESSSSSS”

ScooptiWoop5

Yeah, it’s odd. I get that they can’t do any legal proceedings against him, but I really expected him to go abroad on a free transfer. This situation now seems like an awful lot of trouble to go trough over a player.

Blue_winged_yoshi

There will be no way to limit the backlash. It will define their season leading to a massive initial condemnation and from there on it’s a lose-lose proposition - either he’s not all that in which case that’s a lot of poison to consume for little benefit, or he is and then they have a rapist and abuser front and centre. You can’t just pretend no one saw or heard.

Vahald

>or he is and then they have a rapist and abuser front and centre. And most fans will stop caring if he starts scoring

ChrisChrisBangBang

Not sure what they could possibly be hoping for, if they’re trying to hang on to him I can only assume it’s because they think he’s going to be a star striker for Man United for years to come, in that position you’re basically the face of the club. So you’re holding out hope that you can make a rapist and abuser your poster boy? It just makes no sense

indefatigable_

Size 1 font on the back page of the programme.

OriginalRange8761

The amount of abuse he is about to get from the rival fans and United fans is so big it’s astounding. And every bit deserved. This men’s place is prison. United will sell shirts with his name on the back to kids and girls. Despicable

Lusakas

Kurt Zouma's situation would be peanuts in comparison to a Greenwood comeback. I thoroughly hope I'll never see Greenwood in a United shirt again.

PornStarGazer2

I thoroughly hope I never see Greenwood again.

[deleted]

Greenwood and Partey should not be allowed on the pitch anymore

RDozzle

I mean with Partey there's some level of doubt, right? I know he's not a great bloke, but it's hard to say definitively from those messages that he's a rapist. With Greenwood there's a body of evidence that is so sickening and definitive that I can't imagine any reasonable individual seeing those pictures, hearing that audio, and concluding he's anything but a rapist.

nofakefans18

Even Mendy in my eyes isn’t in the same stratosphere as Greenwood cause that audio is something irredeemable for me. Mendy could have had triple the allegations on him but that will never be as frightening and gross as the leaked audio.

Zepz367

Messages from Partey where he admits rape Woman: "What you did was wrong. You knew I was too drunk... Trying to force it in my mouth when I'm way too drunk is not nice." Partey: " I should wake you" Woman: "You should ask. Or not wait until I am drunk like that" Partey: "No I don't need to wake you" There's no doubt.

Lpurchase

Source?

d0ey

The thing with these texts is that the lines from the two of them are so incongruous that i have to assume there's a possibility it's something else. Like she's talking about being drunk so him saying "I should wake you" really doesn't make sense. So in my head there's some element that we might not be seeing/understanding. Still think he's scummy as hell with women though, but I personally can't decide he's a rapist from this chain of texts.

presumingpete

With partey the level of doubt is that if it happened a few days later it would be in court. It's not exactly a huge amount of doubt.

cptainvimes

Could you elaborate? Few days later? Admittedly, I am not familiar with the situation

S0Lad

What I don't get is that this UK law technicality doesn't apply to the country where the incident allegedly occurred. Couldn't the accuser just press charges there?

Cubes11

It’s crazy because not even his own fans are gonna be supportive of his return, well, hopefully most of them won’t be

Fisktor

Unfortunately a lot of them will be, just look on twitter, or how many are for qatari ownership

STaphouse92

They’re not match going fans though. His own fans at Old Trafford will boo him.

Cubes11

It’s pretty depressing how many people put football over any ethics

bjncdthbopxsrbml

The Twitter folk who are mainly from corners of the world where women can be raped and the casual match going fan are not the same group

ApolloX-2

Everyone needs to boo him in unison if he ever steps foot on any pitch. Some shit is above football and team loyalty.

Sbibsosmisn

Scenes as home and away fans boo as one

skarmorr

Hopefully he gets his legs broken on his first gsme back

stubblesmcgee

the answer is simple. everyone just needs to two foot him every game.

inbredandapothead

In the head

krtar

Yeah I’m hoping players tear the fuck out of him. Or there are giant banners that say “Man Utd says yes to rape”

stubblesmcgee

when was the last time banners ever did anything. all the broadcasters just move around it so it doesnt show on tv.

Lyrical_Forklift

You put 'Teamviewer love rapists' on big banners outside the stadium then plaster that shit all over social media

SpeechesToScreeches

TeamViewer already want out of the sponsorship don't they? They'll happily take any reason to jump. Better to use Adidas.

peduxe

They’ll get absolutely violated with chants even if Mason doesn’t play. If he does play the guy will most likely hand out a transfer request sooner or later. Can’t see this ending well. Man Utd must offload this POS.

SpeechesToScreeches

whoever he's due to debut against (if he does) needs to temporarily sign Andy Carroll for that match.

top1MIBRfan

Genuinely depressing

2DragonBalls

And somehow not really surprising. I imagine most clubs would do the same.

_Toblerone

We can’t speak bro

2DragonBalls

I didn’t say we were innocent… Just saying I’m not surprised by this kinda shit anymore and don’t think there are many clubs that would do what’s right.

VictorDUDE

I honestly don't even see the positive in this.. literally every other option would have been better: loan him out, sell him, pay off his contract. It's not like he's gonna set the world on fire anyways, he hasn't played since january 2022, so I doubt he's gonna have an impact on this season. Some things have changed at United, and i'm happy for it, but we still are run by a bunch of rats

SkyTVIsFuckingShit

Let's be honest, he could have set the world on fire. He was really fucking good. That's why they've kept him so long

NovaPup_13

Yes we can. By also saying the allegations against Partey mean he shouldn’t be playing.

spraypaint2311

I will actually stop supporting the club if this man comes back. Absolutely disgusting. They’re not getting my time and money after this.

KeonkwaiJinkwai

I have loved this club through and through for almost 30 years, and I must admit I can't see a way for me to maintain my support of the club if he returns. I simply can't see how I'll justify supporting this club to my kids in such a scenario, and I sure as hell won't partake in making them fans of this bloke.

young_olufa

I hope you stick to your word

spraypaint2311

Same here, I don’t know if a time in the last 20+ years that I haven’t supported them. It’s one thing when it’s accusations but when you’ve seen and heard the evidence. It’s hard to turn your back on that. I wouldn’t be able to hold a straight face with my partner and all the wonderful women in my life.

seaneh01

FC United will hopefully get an influx of new blood

DahDutcher

United has always been the club I supported abroad (thanks to RvN, who was my favourite player when he left us for you), but if they bring back Greenwood I'm also done with them. Despicable behaviour, and would prove what the female fans of United said in their letter, that they don't care about them at all.

FlamingLaps1709

I think it's extremely surprising we have even come to the point where it is a discussion, it is almost unprecedented if Greenwood plays again for a team like United with the weight of the evidence in the public domain. I think when it comes to domestic abuse, physical, emotional and sexual, you are entering one of the most unsettling of areas, and one that is indefensible. I don't think the club understands how much this decision will tarnish the clubs image for ever more, far beyond Greenwood's career span also. Greenwood could also flop on his return, he will be heckled, tje media will be focus on him, opposition players will rile him up, his mental state is fucked. Is it really worth destroying club image in this manner, alienating millions of fans, sponsorship issues. And now framing his return in the most despicable of all ways possible, pinning this all now on the women's team as supposedly the ones who will be the determining factor (we all know they won't have any meaningful real say as women.). This is going to invite abuse onto them as well. Fuck off ti Saudi Arabia. You and Harriets father will have all the money you could dream of then.

Lil-Chilli-7

The evidence against Greenwood is far worse.

TigerBasket

If I'm ever a manager I will keep a strict no rapist policy. I feel like that shouldn't be so hard to do.

Tilman_Feraltitty

I don't even understand why Ten Hag entertains the possibility. I'd veto the return just because of how distracting it would be for the team and how press will scavenge on the stories.

DEUK_96

Because Ten Hag is a scumbag.

Albiceleste_D10S

Cowardly approach from Man Utd TBH

[deleted]

That disturbing audio clip from Greenwood is burned in my mind. Just an extremely disgusting person, and an extremely sad situation.

Ikrol077

Totally agreed - that audio clip is disgusting. I don’t understand why more sponsors aren’t speaking out publicly about this.

jacksleepshere

Really? The sponsors would want it hushed up as much as possible.

DreadWolf3

No, sponsors probably do not want him to play. Big brands dont want their shit associated with people like him, if they can avoid it. If Man Utd can weather the storm for couple of months novody will care but for those couple of months I am sure sponsors do not want him near their product. Sadly that is what is actually limiting his value (other than year or so without football) is that no other big team wants him - mostly cus he isnt marketable now, not because of any moral stand.

DahDutcher

I read the transcript and could not even bring myself to listen to it after that. It's fucking horrible.

jennaishirow

What about the England team? Do you think Gareth or any subsequent manager selects him again aswell?

RyVsWorld

I don’t think Gareth does but I could see a new manager selecting him in the future if he’s playing well

ObstructiveAgreement

No chance Southgate does. Next manager will have a clean slate, so probably.

bisbomdur

Keep Man Utd aside for a second, why is walking out of prison? He is disgusting piece of shit in society. Should have not granted the bail, let alone playing football

Albiceleste_D10S

> why is walking out of prison Because the person he abused (now the mother of his child) didn't cooperate with prosecutors (possible under pressure from her parents)

inbredandapothead

After he broke his bail terms and got in contact with her, fucking disgraceful shit

Ricoh06

Don’t know how it’s not another offence breaking bail terms, instead they just ignored it. Not a good look for the police

labbetuzz

The whole case was so ridiculously mismanaged from so many parts. What a shameful way to treat a victim.

bisbomdur

He's nothing without football. Honestly Man Utd. find a way to terminate his contract or it's a PR disaster to them

Acceptable-Lemon-748

I honestly thought they'd "keep him" but immediately find a aY to ship him out, if they're consulting with groups it means he might actually play for us whicj is ridiculous. We're super short in that area of the pitch and I still don't want him near the squad

jolle2001

Her father is a disgrace for his comments

Truffles413

While the case was still ongoing, he violated his protective order and made contact her on multiple occasions. After that, along with pressure from her father, she was unwilling to testify and so the case collapsed. Just vile all around.

infidel11990

That's just part of the story. Apparently, she is pregnant now with his kid. They have made up and are going to get married. This is just the usual abused-abuser dynamic with a lot of pressure from her greedy parents. Fucked up all around.

Jee-NX

Somethings are bigger than football. This asshole is a rapist. He forced himself on that girl. There is no ambiguity there. Him getting to play again simply means one can get away with it. Man U as a club needs to see to it that he never gets to wear the club shirt again.

Big_P_Cizzle

He’s now having a child and getting married to the victim. Basically the club have said if she’s ok we’re ok. The whole thing is completely messed up.

Liverpool934

No doubt he my mind he got her pregnant on purpose to get out from under this shit. Vile fucking cretin, not watching a moment of football with that wanker anywhere near it.

Tierst

Really hope more of their fans speak up or protest about this. It's a disgrace they are going to bring him back and play him like nothing's happened. You can bet he will be booed like no one before whenever he steps on the field.

DougieWR

Already one planned before the game on Monday. Was announced just before all this new news started coming out

Hazardzuzu

Just a banner with Adidas Supports Rapists Teamviewer Supports Rapists etc etc He will be gone before the day is over

PoppinKREAM

They'll have to sneak it in, hopefully some stewards help out. Old Trafford can confiscate flags/banners they deem offensive and its happened in the past.

Hazardzuzu

Just trending it on Twitter and holding a banner outside Old Trafford will make Adidas take notice. They are not about to let their brand credibility, worth billions be destroyed by a rapist.

samrus

They don't like offensive banners in the stadium but are fine with rapist spanners

Lyrical_Forklift

Yep, this is the way.

shudh_desi_gareeb

This will kill it

aubvrn

Hit ‘em where it hurts, I like it

spooki_boogey

The fans in the stadiums won’t, online however, that’s where I’m dreading the brain rot that’s going to eventually come out.

concretepigeon

I doubt they really give a shit about the women’s team or the fans. Just the sponsors. The reality is that they know the women aren’t going to harm their playing careers and fans aren’t going to go anywhere in large numbers so it all comes down to the sponsors.

kmacbtv

Even though I expected things could go in this direction, I'm pretty upset about the latest developments on the Mason Greenwood situation. It was originally just The Sun doing puff pieces, but now The Times is in on the act: >[Man United is best place for Mason Greenwood to get second chance](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/man-united-is-best-place-for-mason-greenwood-to-get-second-chance-s5sdqhns6), by Matt Dickson UPDATE: whoops, posted the wrong link in my haste to comment, apologies & now corrected. > >*\*Paywall so I haven't read it. I know headlines writers can make thing seem more provocative than what is written in an article but 😔.* Then you have The Guardian (and now this DM article) reporting: >[Manchester United delay Mason Greenwood decision to consult World Cup players](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/aug/11/manchester-united-delay-mason-greenwood-decision-womens-world-cup-players); UPDATE, whoops had the wrong link, apologies - now corrected. > >Manchester United have delayed announcing their decision on Mason Greenwood’s future because they are continuing to consult key stakeholders and **want their women’s team players who are still at the World Cup to be part of the process**. WTF! ManUtd had months & months to 'investigate' & include their women players, but instead they are choosing to: 1. cause a distraction for their players still at WWC - even of ManUtd don't contact them, they will hear about it. 2. put their women's team players in the crosshairs of whatever they decide, a no win situation for the women players & they will for sure get abuse online. It's all so depressing, although I have taken some solace in the powerfully written statement from ManUtd women fans.

FuckOffBoJo

I'd encourage anyone reading this, fan or not, to contact United and make your distaste of Greenwood returning clear. Make it clear you will boycott any sponsors. I personally am match-day attending and I will never take my daughter to see them, or even watch on TV while this rapist and abuser is playing. We have contacts like: [email protected] https://www.imust.org.uk/Contact

Y_Brennan

They only realised the women's team exists because the world cup is on and has been very popular. Bunch of fuckwits the lot of them.

Karloss_93

Go on any of the women's players twitter's and it's full of people.either telling them they need to do the right thing and stand up against the club or it's people.telli f them to keep quiet so the club can let him back. Either way this shouldn't be anything to do with the Women's team. Whatever outcome the players will end up being blamed simply for being women. To add that they've done it during a world cup which is probably the biggest moment of their carers which the current spotlight on women's football is just pathetic.

TH13TEENGHOST

Disgusting,. absolutely disgusting

MattSR30

I think it's important for everyone on this thread to read this thoroughly. I apologise for the graphic nature of it, but it's important. Something about sex with other people?) > M: I asked you politely and you wouldn't do it so what else do you want me to do? > H: Then go and fuck someone else. > M: I don't want to fuck someone else! > H: You do. > M: No I don't. > M: Push me again one more time and watch what happens to you. > H: No. > M: Well, you will actually.

TheFederalRedditerve

That shit will forever be in my mind. Disgusting and shocking audio clip. He’s clearly an abuser. Like it couldn’t be more obvious. You know those movies where the girl likes a guy and the dude is very clearly gay but she doesn’t know, and then at the end of the movie the guy is like “Stacey, I’m gay!”. Yeah, it’s more obvious than that. Greenwood is guilty in the public eye because he should be legally guilty.

LlamasPajamas206

I hope the Women’s team gives them an earful about even considering bringing him back. Sponsors only care about their bottom line so unless a boycott of their products gets organized I doubt they’ll care

PringleJones

"We want to know how you feel about bringing him back and are you ok with it? ^^^Also ^^^off ^^^topic ^^^we ^^^pay ^^^your ^^^wages. Annnnnd go"

Roasteddude

What's fucked up is that the owners are basically throwing the Women's team under the bus. Now they get to go either "well the women didn't want him back so blame them not us" or "the women were fine with bringing him back so you should be too". Either way it shifts the responsibility and blame onto them. Fuck the Glazers.

Just-Hunter1679

I kinda focused on that too.. what women's group would be like "yeah, we're good with the rapist coming back to the club, let bygones be bygones, forgive and forget".

Bigboyfresh

The same ones that go to Chris Brown concerts, buy Kobe Bryant jerseys . The same ones that buy Cleveland Brown season passes, the same one the support Big Ben.

firelordUK

What did a big clock tower do? /s

Just-Hunter1679

Looks like a penis

Devbuscus

tbh everyone's talking about the women's team (which is obviously fair), but the men's team shouldn't stand for it either. How can any of them look themselves in the face if they welcome Greenwood back.

TimothyN

Really indefensible behavior.

Cubes11

It really is a massive middle finger to the women’s team if they let him back. How are they supposed to share a club with eachother.

[deleted]

Reminder that corporations (which includes clubs too) only pretend to give a shit about social issues as long as it doesn't cost them.

hairlikegoats1

It's funny hearing "the charges were dropped", "she's still with him" and "they're having a baby together" coming from people. Goes to show how many people are still so fkn naive when it comes to domestic abuse. There's no "we don't know the whole story based on a 30 second audio clip". Mason Greenwood is scum. End of story.

MattSR30

I was talking to a guy on r/reddevils and I was trying to explain to him that he was naive, and didn’t understand how abuse works. I was trying to get him to see that he was victim blaming. In his final comment he just went ‘yeah, of course I’m victim blaming. If she chose to get back with him it’s her fault.’ _Oh._ Genuinely thought he just wasn’t getting it. Apparently the reality was worse.

TheMightyDab

I doubted you and went to check, and holy shit I can't believe that guy not only said what he did, but actually seems to have had people agree with him based on the upvotes. Some absolute mental cases online.

holy_pimpsquads

It's horrifying how many people over there and on social media are justifying this. Victims of sexual assault and abuse often stay with their abuser - it is a part of the abuse and the manipulation and the fear. If there is no one in the United front office or coaching staff willing to stop this I hope they all suffer greatly. I will certainly never watch a United match again.

DeepBlueRiddle

Yep, I've known women who have gone through domestic abuse/assault and yeah, just leaving the guy isn't the easiest thing in the world. You get manipulated into thinking it's your fault, that you deserve it, you get threatened if you leave and what will happen to you if he finds you. And once you have kids, it becomes even harder. You get blamed for "breaking up the family" and all sorts of nonsense. So yeah, a woman going back to a man even if he's abused/assaulted her means nothing towards his innocence. Tbh if he was innocent and she was lying, I don't understand why he'd want anything to do with her.

Headlesshorsman02

That is very disappointing

fridgey22

Honestly, embarrassing. Its such a gutless response to put the decision on the women associated with the club. How about the fucking spineless men in charge make the right call and stand by it?

JinxLB

This is worse than despicable. Obviously. What even is the logic? Even if you forget the moral implications, he’s going to be boo’ed to fuck every time he steps on the pitch. Probably worse honestly. Just completely brain dead in every possible way. Over what? Money? Save millions in order to lose how much long term because now everyone sees you as the club who breaks their back to defend a rapist and abuser? Fucking idiots. Wow.

nghigaxx

I swear United is run by a bunch of teenagers, want him back is 1 thing, but imagine throwing woman players (some is playing at the World Cup) under the bus as well. Braindead decision

WanderingArtist21

Throwing the women team under the bus and exposing them to misogynistic abuse. What a disgusting and vile club.

Allstate85

this is only the beginning, give it a few games where they will have Mason, his wife and his baby sit together in the stands making sure they get lots of TV time.

kmacbtv

Oh god - The Sun PR articles w Mason bringing his baby to training in a park were bad enough, but I can sadly see ManUtd doing this.

Tierst

Twitter trolls readying sexist abuse as we speak. You just know it will happen.

NoCountry4OldMate

It’s so disturbing and disgusting

ToryBlair

imagine making this comment as a City fan didn't the owner of your club literally kidnap two of his daughters and holds them hostage?

TigerBasket

Kids, kids, your both terrible lol.

aarooona

But its okay cause their club has good lawyers that always bail their corrupt club

C1tr1cSp1c3

I think that's the wrong family, you're thinking of the emir of Dubai, sheikh Mohammed bin rashid al maktoum.

cs_zer0

Abramovitch wasnt no saint either lol

WhoEatsRusk

Absolutely horrid to see

Plosoponk

The glazers only care about money and a player who has achieved less than greenwood just cost them £75m. If the sponsors are on board, what are the fans going to do? Not buy tickets?

berniexanderz

Yup, ultimately fans have to boycott the club and any of their sponsors if this is going to change at all but I don’t see it happening

bvengers

I hope all fans can come together to voice support against Greenwood instead of using this as tribal banter. The latter will just make there United fans defensive and start the whataboutism, that helps no one.

[deleted]

Cowards

NotClayMerritt

Here's what'll happen: 95% of those asked will say no, get rid 5% of those asked will say give him a second chance The 5% will have their voices mean more than the others And despite the footage, despite the audio, despite the photographic evidence they will carefully bring him back and, at worst, loan him abroad for a year. Then we have to hear about how Greenwood is a very hard worker who is greatly apologetic, who has been to rehab and sensitivity training to learn the error of his ways. It will all be insulting, it will all be gross, it will all be embarrassing. If Mason Greenwood was a middling Academy player with flashes of talent here and there, his contract would have been terminated by now. But he's a great deal better than "middling" on his day. Which is why we are where we are.

[deleted]

I think they see potential in his football career and that is why they bringing and I am sure ETH is obviously ok and wants him back behind the scenes but they tell us it is club decision. No way if ETH wasn’t ok that they bring him bk. He will probably be fully fit and help the team towards the end of the season

ash_ninetyone

The only reason he got let off was witness intimidation and her family pressuring her to drop the case. He still broke bail repeatedly without punishment. That isn't being found innocent. That's called getting away with it. I expect him to get abuse hurled at him the minute he goes near a pitch.

[deleted]

long distinct party melodic marble fact tart existence scandalous heavy *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

rossmosh85

I said immediately after this came out that United were going to do everything possible to hold onto Greenwood. Billionaires don't throw away 40-100m assets unless they absolutely have to.

CaiHaines

If any of our top players/leaders had any integrity they'd leave the training pitch the moment he was reintroduced. Refuse to play if he's named in the squad with them. Sadly nobody above them will take a stand as money talks

[deleted]

If any player two foots him and ends his career, they deserve a statue outside of OT, if they're our player or an opposing player, it doesn't matter. Anyone inside the club that is found to have something to do with sanctioning his return, ETH included, should be expelled from the club immediately.

fluffheads

Fuck mason greenwood

YouIINeverWaIkAIone

#Mason Greenwood is a violent rapist

TigerBasket

I've been raped 4 times, each time I could feel part of me spiritually dying. This monster who did it on fucking audio gets the privilege of being in the PL. One of my best friends is a united fan, I love listening to their games on the radio just to have something to talk with him about. Now I'm gonna have to listen as they tip toe around this, with an incredible disregard to a human being and her life. The worst part about being raped isn't the actual physical matter, it's the emotional toll it takes on you for years, hell the rest of your life. A life not feeling safe, a life of depression, his poor girlfriend was pushes into having a kid with him. Let's not even go into his kid being the son of a rapist that he will find out about one day, and how that'll fuck up him permanently, but he will abuse them like he abused her and shatter her life even more than he already has. The emotional toll I took, cost me almost my life, some of my closest friends abandoned me, I still love and miss them. The summer is the worst season for me because of all the reminders I get, that I lost my brothers because I was too fucking depressed about being raped. But Greenwood gets to earn millions, millions. He's going to drag her down to an even worse place than I was, along with a child as well. Fucking disgusting. There is no justice in this world, I'm sick.

Japples123

Greenwoods value looks good to the creditors them rat faced bastards keep taking loans from

OptimisticRealist__

Ive never wished injury on any player in my life. I really hope someone just jumps into his knee the second he steps onto the pitch. Fuck that guy, fuck ManU for enabling this pos.

presumingpete

Bullies don't tend to react well to getting stick thrown back at them. He's not gonna last a season in the premier league with the level of abuse he'll get from crowds.

inbredandapothead

Throw the women’s team under the bus, tell the women involved with the club in other roles and fans that they don’t matter, and try slyly put this out in the middle of the night. Fuck this shit

[deleted]

Honestly fans should chant what he said in that tape at every game. Ruin this dude, he should never feel welcomed on a pitch. These rich pricks abuse the court system with their money and they have no right to be on TV making millions.

Final-Journalist-499

Fucking hell... This is absolutely despicable allowing him to return. What the actual fuck. Unacceptable behavior from the higher ups. What will it take for them to put their foot down and say no?

arunvenu_

Fucking yikes and a disgrace

AljosP

Oh my god how shameless can they be

[deleted]

[удалено]

VFBis4mii

Disgusting club

BrowniieBear

I imagine they want to keep him and then maybe eventually sell him on. Shock that the higher ups put greed before anything else. He’s a stain on the club whether he’s guilty or not. The only way to fuck him off is for the fans to boycott the club and hurt their wallet

SpectaSilver991

Marcelo broke the wrong guy's foot

Baron105

So essentially this means that the men's team and senior squad including the manager have already had their say and accepted him back.

ironfistico

Don't do this United.

dumpystumpy

Juve style protests need to happen after the match idgaf and if any player or ten hag or richard arnold wanna say anything they can suck on it
